Hello,
Im really struggling to choose which phone to buy. Im thinking about P9, G5 or S6. Or maybe you now something better than these with similar price.
I now that S6 is much older, but its in similar price range .
I watched many comparison videos(mainly LG G5 vs. P9), but still cant make my mind.
As every user, I need stable, not lagging phone(samsung rules out? ). I think they all will run pretty much the same, but which will lag least and work most fluidly(custom roms does count).
What I dont like in LG and P9:
Camera. In comparison videos, one photo looks better taken with P9, other photo better with LG G5, and quality is not very spectacular, although not bad. Video recording looks bad in P9, a little better in G5 ( I think).
P9. I dont like that Huawei offers only 3GB RAM/32GB version in my region.
Supports only Cat6 LTE (4g) network, my country has cat9 support.
Camera(could be a little bit better). No 2K video.
No NFC in 3gb version.
LG G5.
Battery, with QHD screen, battery should be better.
Processor Quad-core, or its enough?
Camera(could be a little bit better)
Snapdragon 820, i think kirin 955 in huawei/exynos is better.
Dont now much about S6.
I would be really greatful if you advice me which phone i should buy, because its real headache for me now.
Im really looking forward for your opinions!
any opinions :/ ?
Hey , I'm about to buy a new smartphone and I'm wondering which smartphone will be the best for 300 bucks.
So what I want is a solid build smartphone ,weight doesn't bother me .A powerful CPU and sufficient RAM for Browsing internet,Watching Youtube, Social Media(Multitasking) and playing occasionnaly some games (asphalt,..) .A good Camera I don't care about low light or recording 4K videos I just want some Good Pictures ,more details and sharpness and accurate autofocus since I will use it for social media. And a durable Battery at least one day without charging !!! ; and a loud speakers not the loudest as the Axon 7 but at least audible.
After many searches I found that the Mi 5s is the best, but I heard that some users have encountered some problems with the fingerprint scanner , 4G connectivity , and battery draining too fast, and Problems with multitasking as the phone had to reload apps everytime , I dunno if it's a problem of some units or general.
But I also found these Smartphones : Leeco Le Pro 3, Leeco Le Max 2, Zuk Z2 , Honor 8 , ASUS Zenfone 3, Meizu Pro6, Huawei Honor V8 , Xiaomi Mi 5 , Zte Nubia 11 ,..., if u know something else in this price range please tell me.
So My Priorities are Performance , Camera , Solid Build , Battery , Audio .
Please Guys , tell me which smartphone can handle my needs ? is Mi 5s better than those listed above ?
PS: My Provider 4G bands are 800/1800/1600 Mhz
Could please answer to the pool below
Thanks in advance.
The vote will be undoubtedly biased in favor of the Honor 8
That's a whole lot a phones you're inquiring about... why don't you do your own research by reading the threads that already been created in the various phones forums you listed.

I know but most of the reviews are kind of sponsored or presented by fanboys !! So I need help with the community to help me choose the best for me.
I have reduced the list to 4 devices
Honor 8 (4gb) , huawei P9 (3gb) , Oneplus 3 , Axon 7 (4gb) !
I want best performance in day to day tasks , good battery , good daylight camera stills , good display , and acceptable sound
HONOR 8 <3
I did my own research but with the following devices: S7 Edge, ZTE Axon 7, ASUS Zenfone 3 Laser, Moto Z Play, OnePlus 3T and HTC 10.
I ended up getting Honor 8 as the EMUI skin is much better (and smoother) than other OEMs skins. Device just looks so much better than other devices of it's range like Axon, OP 3T etc., Looking forward to the dual cameras as well. I don't listen to music via speakers so lack of front facing speakers was not an issue for me.
Also figured while I wait for S8 Unlocked (which could take probably the end of next year in the USA), I can enjoy Honor 8 until then. The company also recently revealed that Honor 8 will receive updates for 2 years.
The only frustration I had was dealing with notifications but after playing around with it, I have set it to work the way I want.
Hope this helps.
I previously had a Galaxy S7 and wasn't impressed with their variant of Android. Overall I've been impressed with the Honor 8. Despite technically being slower specs wise than the Snapdragon 820, this phone is far more fluid than most other phones I've used. Typically in my experience when manufacturers customize Android and skin it to their liking it seems the end result is a bogged down mess but it's different with the Honor 8.
After having the Honor 8 for a couple of weeks as my daily driver here are my impressions of it.
Pros:
1. The CPU is extremely efficient and performs great.
2. The design is very impressive and sleek. I really enjoy that the phone is completely linear and flat. It feels very balanced in the hand and using it is comfortable.
3. The fingerprint sensor is accurate and quick. I've never seen a fingerprint sensor as fast as this one is.
4. Despite being iOS themed everything is efficiently placed in the UI and fits together very well in my opinion.
5. There is very little bloat that needs to be removed unlike other phones.
6. It only cost me $300 with a case, extra cable and charger.
Cons:
1. The stock launcher should be replaced with something like Pixel or Nova launcher.
2. If you decide on the Honor 8 then I will advise a case, but definitely get a clear one so you can still see the beautiful glass back
Since you can get this phone for less then when it first came out it's really a power house with practical features that make using this phone a dream.
As far as the lack of development... Unless you get a Nexus phone, nowadays there isn't much to gain from going to custom roms. You tend to lose features and functionality on phones like these when using custom. Truthfully, I believe the age of needing custom roms is coming to an end because of this. Huawei is also an excellent manufacturer in which they seem intent on making sure their phones get updated properly.
I own a honor 8, and I am surprised that it beat S7, G5...etc in performance.
Plus when you set it on smart mode, the SOT is just crazy (7-8h usually). And it multitasks very well for me (some apps, chrome, youtube and a game) without reloading
I'd go for the Honor 8 as the HiSIlicon Kirin 950 SOC used in it, is a very powerfull SOC.
Hey.
I got an Honor 8 without looking at all the specs (I got offered it on a good contract)
Since I got it I had fallen in love with it.
I'm on the UK beta N programme and it's the first phone I have ever had that I hadn't rooted and put custom ROMs into.
I have found that with the options for using themes and fonts that I can customise it as much as i want and the EMUI 5 is nothing like the EMUI 4 (IOS)
The battery life ain't what I thought it was gonna be but then it's still a beta program..
I know Honor have invested in a development scene both on XDA and MoDaco so they must be up for releasing thier source code.
I'm not sure about the specs for gaming etc but I would say that it's a great phone.

Have you had played with both phones, who's better?! (Apart from ROM support)
Aside from 3D gaming the Kirin 950 seems to be faster than the Snapdragon 820 at basically everything...

Yes, youtube videos proved it. Plus I've put my honor 8 against a LG G5 and S7 edge, both were slower than my honor 8
Hi all,
First of all, I'm new here, so let me know if this should go somewhere else.
So, I'm on the sad countries that only get the LTE version (8 GB RAM / 256 GB Storage / Exynos), I just wanted to know if any of you had that version and could tell me how is it performing?
My main questions are regarding battery (does it perform better maybe than the regular exynos because of no 5G, and how is the battery life on 120 hz vs 60hz) and performance (any issues with the lower RAM, does Dex work?), but I'm also worried about all the overheating and dim screen reports.
For context, I'd be jumping from a Note 9, and i could get the Note 10+ if I wanted, but was kinda looking forward to the lower latency for the Spen, improved cameras and screen. Also, I don't game much, at most Pokemon Go/Masters, I mostly do a lot of browsing, Reddit and Youtube.
Any comments are appreciated!
Hi all I have the new xiaomi 12t pro, 8+256 and the black shark 4 pro 12+256 on order, but can only keep one, but what one??
Black shark...
I like the pop out triggers idea and the finger print sensor on the power button. it was £480, but no IP raitng
12t pro...
better gpu and faster phone and has a IP rating. £600
What would you go for and why, the 12t pro is more expensive, but just come out, so will have more updates than the black shark.
both same size screen, both 120w charge
Please help all, as really not sure what to go for??
many thanks
ian

Both are good phones. What is your intent? Intensive gaming? If so, go black shark. Gaming phones have better cooling compared to their flagships counterparts. If gaming is not your focus here, go with the 12t pro. It had better camera and will get more updates, official and unofficial.
A bit of both tbh, is the 12t pro worth the extra £120? Will the black shark still be a fast phone? My current phone is a huawei p30 pro
Xiaomi 12T Pro is better when looking specs.
Both of these phones is not IP rated.
i received the 12t pro today, just need to decide on what one to keep now, mostly used for day to day use, with the odd game of cod. i like the idea of the pop triggers, but with the 12T pro, it is better spec, but less ram 8gb in 12t pro, 12 in bs4p., also got the free tab with the 12t pro, but it is £120 more.
what to do??????
I'm currently looking for a new mid-range budget smartphone. Looking into the x5 pro, people keep mentioning the x3 pro, and how the former is a rip off.
I don't care about camera, mildly care about display (LCD, sad), and deeply care about performance, value, and community support. For those of you more familiar with the modding and dev community, and in terms of long-term support, is buying this phone in 2023 considered risky or dumb? Should I just go for the x5 pro for better future support, or the x3 pro with the seemingly strong community?

When you say you care about performance, do you run a lot of apps or games that are likely to really stress the CPU?
From my experience with this phone (just over 2 years) it has been impeccable, but I dont game or use any apps that really push the phone, however anecdotally there seem to be a lot of people who have experienced CPU issues (or the solder on the CPU failing), reballing the CPU appears to be an option but its hard to gauge how long that repair lasts.
As you allude to, there is a great dev community for the phone - I run CrDroid on it and it is easily the best ROM/Phone combo I have owned.

I don't play any demanding games, but I'd like to have the option to (as I somewhat develop games). I don't do any video editing either, or anything similar. So a top-end processor isn't a need, but rather, the value for my money. I see second hand x3 pros going for around $200+, while the x5 pros go for like $330. So in terms of performance, I'm just looking for a really snappy UI and fast app load speeds. I have a feeling both are competent in that department though. It was mainly software support I was worried about.
Well there are a lot of custom ROM options at the moment and I'd be surprised if support dropped away overnight.

I recommend you the x5p, because x3p have many hardware issues, especially if you doing any intensive gaming on it. The global version seems to fair better, the indian version break a lot.

Poco F3 and F5 could be added to the option list, except the display is not LCD.
Poco F5 has some downside with GPS and 4G connections.
Poco X3 Pro came out together with Poco F3.
Poco F4 depends on the price, similar to Poco F3
One of the two X3 Pro (global) now after 18 months is since some days showing overheating, fast battery drain, etc. so the confidence this device will be able to last 4-5 years is low. But my guess is all those smartphones with performance chips might have the risk of earlier EOL. So my interpretation is you either have to seek performance or an ecquilibrated package with low temperature/low power chips, which is rock stable and might run considerably longer. I want power for video editing and X3 Pro is still top for the price class: Snapdragon 860 ca. 550k Antutu, LPDDR4X RAM / UFS 3.1 storage, 8/256 GB (would not want less). So it is a shame the successors X4P and X5P have less fast CPUs and the Storage Tec is also less good (only UFS 2.2) and X5P has no mSD slot!
