I have a Galaxy 5 and any app that requires location is not working. Location is turned on but for example, when I go to Weather and try to get location, it just sits there at getting location and nothing happens. I just reset my watch but that didn't help. Does anyone else with this problem?

I just got my brand NEW Asus TF 16GB from Amazon. I did the update first.
Then I noticed that it displays the wrong location in the weather widget.
I have GPS, Wifi and Google location tracking enabled.
Anyone else got the wrong location with this Tablet? Any way to get it work properly? I have not tried a different location either.
oh and google map app shows the correct location so I guess it knows where it is. Strange...
I know I can set it manually but I would like to know if it can be fixed to work in auto mode.
Any how this is a great site full of TF information.
Thanks in advance...

yeah, I hope there is a fix for this.
Mine also pinpoints me fine on the map.
But, weather widget says i'm in a small community, two cities away.
And a search to enter location manually, finds my city no problem.
Of course I prefer to leave it on AUTO.
Tap the weather widget and you can set your location manually, or force it to refresh.
I manually set mine to my location, then turned it back to automatic and it's been fine since.
Thanks for the tip
I tried that but unfortunately it didn't work. It goes back to the wrong location
I all of a sudden started having this issue. When i'm at home it says that i'm in a city that's more than 40 miles away which I've never even traveled near with my TF.
I've tried deleting the widget, checking google maps, and still it puts me in the wrong location.
This started happening less than a week ago.
Mine has said "Asahi ku" since I got it... I have no idea where that is.
Does anyone have an alternate GPS program installed like Locus?
I uninstalled that and it looks to be working fine now.

Ok I spoke prematurely.
If I go into Google maps, it places me in the right location but for some reason, starts out in the location 40 miles away.
The Asus widget seems to be broken.
My Nexus 5 running 4.4.4 has starting acting strangely this morning with anything to do with location services.
Only started this morning when I went to show a colleague the Waze app. Said my current location is Haworth, Yorkshire!?! I am actually at Watford Junction station Hertfordshire! Lol!
Even tried Google Now navigation and said 212 miles to home!!! So it remembers where I live?
I have never been to Haworth, let alone being there now.
Have tried rebooting phone, indoors and outdoors, turning off all location services and it is still showing wrong location?
Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried in a completely different location, or go into Location settings and set it to Device only to force GPS and wait for a fix. It might just be your phone is defaulting to Wi-Fi location, and a new access point has appeared near to you that used to be in North Yorkshire!

Phil

Tried device GPS only, and not GPS/data/wifi, and picking me up fine. GPS on its own, mobile network on its own, both work fine, but not the 2 together?
It is very strange as it only started happening this week and only when I go into the mess/break room at Watford Junction station. And always Haworth! But now, as soon as I step out of the door, it sorts itself out within a minute or 2. But it does happens every time I go into there now! There is a wifi signal at work, but cannot pick it up in the mess room, so can't be that interfering?
It is not a biggy as not as if I need a satnav to drive my train! lol! And to see the weather, I look out of the door (no windows!)
Thought I'd asked this once but can't find it so...
What does the Location setting do? I thought it turned the GPS on/off but I turned it off and could still track my run. Does it just come on when SHealth is on or what?
This thread answers some of your questions:

I leave my location set to on, GPS only, and the location only seems to turn on if the app you are using requires location services. i.e. if you have a weather app to frequently update location specific weather it will eat up more of your battery unless you arrange settings to check more infrequently.
I have not set it to strictly off, so there may be a way for it to use your phone (if you are running with that and the watch BT connected) for the location pin points but I am not sure.

Do you bring your phone with you on the run? If so i believe it uses phone gps. I can see my phone gps full time when doing things like that. And then if you don't have your phone with you the watch is doing a lot of searching via Bluetooth to reconnect. Try turning gps off on both phone and watch then try run again. Shouldn't track.

I'm LTE so I leave my phone at home most of the time so that's not it. But Thanks!
Both my Gear S3 watch and the S-health app on my Android phone use to show a map of my route. I was able to share/send it via email from my phone and use it with some other computer mapping programs. I know its been gone a while but don't recall when it might have disappeared. Or maybe I've done something to kill that feature or its been moved to some sub-menu? I've just finally got around to asking what happened to it. Anyone know what's what?
Thanks in advance.
You must enable GPS on Watch.

Thanks. Just looked around on the watch.
Is it on the watch or one of the Gear settings done in the phone app?
I don't see a specific GPS setting in the phone. I see some location/map stuff?

There are a setting in the watch setting : Location to enable or disable the watch GPS (like on phone), and other setting for each exercice in the SHealth app on the watch. When you launch a "Walk" exercice for exemple on the watch, there are some settings on watch screen and you can disable/enable the GPS for this exercice.
I have been looking around and tweaking various settings on both the watch and in S-health on my android phone. Location is ON. I have not been able to get back the map or track of my route. S-health on the phone use to be able to export or share a gpx route that I could view using Garmin software and I can't get that working either. I might be missing something obvious???? Thanks for any additional help.
Here's the type of maps that I had but are now gone:
I had the same issue, no map on watch after a training, and position switch was on.
But today I started manually a walk session and a pop-up appeared, on the watch, asking me to give permission for position.
So I confirmed the permission tapping on the check symbol and now it works again!
I think that this happened after I paired another phone which made an hard reset of the S3. It seems not enough to set position on, you should also confirm the position permission by manually starting a training session (if the session start in automatic detect, the popup does not appear).
Hello,
I don't know if it might be that I am no proceeding properly, but it happens the automatic location (using gps) for the native weather app is not changing location. I set up several manual locations and one automatic location in the movile app, adjusted as favorite location, so when I updated the clock the automatic one, showed properly where I was. But once I changed my location, it didn't update the place.
I tried using the watch alone, using its own gps, and even using the watch connected by BT to the phone with its gps on, as well, but the only way I found for the "automatic" location to adjust properly, it is entering specifically the weather app in Samsung Gear, entering the "locations administration" setting and hitting update at the bottom, which makes no sense.
Any ideas?
EDIT: well in the end, due to loss of connection I had to factory-reset the watch in order to connect to the phone, and after that this problem had solved and everytime I set on location on the phone it updates on the watch.
