[QUESTION/HELP] Surface RT does not boot. - Microsoft Surface

I have a Surface RT, and it doesn't boot. It gives me some very light electrical shocks.
Yeah, is anyone having an equal/similar problem?

[ASK] Touch Pro screen doesn't mend with the frame?

hi everyone,
i just got my Touch Pro, but i noticed that the flushed screen, on the right hand side, isn't mended well to the frame, where i could slightly see light from the screen coming out, especially in the room where it's dark
does anyone else experience this? it's just slightly and visible only in a dark room where there's no light except your Touch Pro. just worried someday, it may just collect all the dusts and let them in, going under the screen.
Yes, mine has that as well. I was a bit disappointed, but I'm hoping it's not a major issue, though using the case and a screen protector might help a bit.
For now, I use a piece of scotch tape (inserted thin-side into the crevices) to pull out any dust from time to time.
oh well, they should have done better on controlling, i didn't find it such issue on my diamond, well it's a different screen implementation after all, but the latter was better IMO

Give in the Surface 2 display.

After owning the Surface 2 for a little over a week, i have noticed that when i press the bezel (or near the edges of the screen), there some give. What i mean by "give" is that the digitizer actually pushes down and hits the LCD, and makes the "magnetic" looking effect whenever you would press on a normal non-touch LCD screen. In other words, crappy manufacture process (or bad design). This is the second Surface 2 i have had, the first one had messed up edges (top didn't align, at all).
Also, i noticed that on the bottom left spot, is where the weakest spot is, there is some light bleeding through (not too much). Just seems odd.
Anyone else experiencing this?
I may upload a video, if wanted. I am hoping this is a more "common" thing, It's quite annoying having to re-install everything lol. I just don't want dead pixels from touching the touchscreen :l
Seems like a common problem.Noticed this on the first surface 2 i bought, took it back and the second one while not as bad has same give.
Weird, and lame. My RT doesn't have that problem at all. A little distortion from touching wouldn't be a problem, as it goes away quickly, but a hard or sustained press could do damage, yeah.

I'm on my 3rd Surface 2 now. First one had a bent bezel (top middle/plastic part, and the right aluminum side was bent). instantly exchanged it. Second one is the one I was posting about, and forgot to mention the super loose volume rocker (which is a known issue). Now on the third, I have much better luck apparently.
There is still a little give, but not as much. Just as you stated. The light bleed isn't near as bad either. Volume rocker is superb.
I am a tech as Staples, and we have a Surface RT, Surface 2, and a Surface pro 2 out on display. The Surface RT, and Pro 2 have a more sturdy feeling imo (because the Surface 2 is now the light Surface model I assume). Just as GoodDayToDie stated, The RT screen has a little less give in the screen when compared to the Surface 2. The Surface Pro 2 has the least give, just a little bit. I guess this is what I get for buying a product as soon as it releases, still, I/we shouldn't have to deal with this for $449 price tag.

Got a Surface 2 today and found the same problem with the screen. With normal holding pressure, I can press down the bezel and see the magnet effect on the edge of screen. Some parts of the bezel is softer than others. I also notice a dirt or bad pixel inside the screen. This never happens to my Surface RT. Very bad QC and build process. Returning mine to try a new one. I really hope my surface 2 is just few of those that have problems like these.

Unfortunately this seems normal. Some worse than others. I now don't really notice it because i'm not "looking" for it. So it hasn't been bothering me. Still shouldn't have to deal with it. The dead pixel though, get that exchanged.

I dropped my Surface RT and I'm wondering if it's still under warranty

I've have been looking to replace my Surface for quite some time, and I've been thinking of doing so soon, because the warranty is about to expire. The issue I have with my Surface is that the touch screen sometimes becomes unresponsive and you need to turn the display off and on again with the power button.
Unfortunately, I dropped my Surface earlier today. It's working fine, it's just that there's a noticeable mark on the corner (and the glass is not flush anymore on the very upper-left corner) and a few visible scratches on the screen. What do you reckon, does it mean that the warranty is void now?
If microsoft are anything like any other company they will blame all the issues on you dropping it, even though it was dodgy before.
Since your warranty is already going out, you could try your luck and see what happens - my Surface RT had a major scratch/crack (not too deep, but quite large, spanning 1/4 of the width of the screen, however its all on the bezel and you can't see it when you look at the display when turned on) and firmware issues after the Windows 8.1 and Microsoft replaced it without saying anything. It's a matter of luck though, since your issues are theoretically not related to the screen crack, but they *could*, yes, blame everything on the drop.

[Q] Nexus 5 not flush with flat surface when lying on display?

When I lay my N5 on the table with display facing down, the phone is not flush with the surface. It has a 1 mm gap between phone and table, so it can wobble up and down on two corners. Is this something to worry about? How is this possible, this is not noticeable whilst using the phone at all.
Mine is entirely flush with any flat surface when I lay it on the display. Assuming it's not your table, I'd would think it's a hardware defect.
When did you receive your phone?
Thanks!

Will Shield Tablet hang from the official Nvidia cover without detaching?

I recently ordered an Nvidia Shield Tablet including the official Nvidia cover.
Can someone that already owns these two items test something for me please:
I want you to open the cover and hang the tablet from the cover with no other support.
I think it would it would be easiest if you placed the cover on something like a table and hung the tablet off the edge. Is the tablet held securely enough to not detach in this position?
Reason being that I want to hang my Shield like this over a stationary cycle monitor screen so I can game while I do cardio exercise. If the magnets are not secure enough to hold the Shield Tablet suspended like this then I need to purchase a case that fully encloses the Shield Tablet such as the ProCase SlimSnug Case.
Thank you!
It probably holds up, since the magnets are quite strong. I've held two shield tablets using each other's magnets, so your project might work, but I wouldn't trust it too much.
Alternatively, you can use a metal plate and attach the Shield to it, since it has quite strong magnets on its back.
I have the k1 with the original shield cover and can hang it from the cover with no problem. I also gave it a little shake and it did not detach.
I found the magnet in the K1 to be very strong as I have a metal set of draws and my Shield almost welds itself to the top of it!!
Yes it will hang alright. The 32gb original shield is significantly heavier though. I have a metal plate that I mount mine on in The office. Both the og 16gb and the k1 need no support other than some slight grain on the surface while the 32gb needs a slight support to keep it from sliding down the surface (no problems sticking). The cases work for hanging on most equipment as long as you minimize vibrations. I wouldn't trust it if the mount point has excessive vibrations as most equipment only has hard plastic or metal for a landing pad lol.
OK so ... if anyone cares
Got my Shield Tablet and the posters are correct - it will hang without detaching.
*Unfortunately* it still won't work as I wish with the official case because the bendy bits just slowly collapse and it slides off the surface of whatever it's on.
Not to worry, I suspect a keyboard type non-bendy cover will do the trick.
Indeed. You can shake it a lot without it detaching from the magnets. You would probably have to use quite a lot of force in order for it detach (i.e throwing item of similar size to hit a ranged target).
