I'm looking for a GPS app that tracks my movements but does not use the internet to update my movements on a map. I'm looking for something that just maps the movements by placing dots on a blank screen that I can view while I am moving. When I am done logging, it should be able to upload the logging file to my pc so I can load into Google Earth.
I want this type of app so it uses very little battery and does not hit the internet. I use to have a Blackberry Storm and they have an app called GPSlogger that did this and it worked great.
I have not been able to find any app that does this in the Android market.
Anyone know of something similar?
you would be better off getting a bluetooth track logger gps for 75. Gps in your phone will use 12+ percent an hour without data usage.
Google MyTracks may be your best bet..

Well, have a look at Locus.
- There are some settings to stay completly offline.
- If you don't want to use the internet on the go, you could also download maps on wifi and use them for offline use.
- It is able to connect to a bluetooth gps device without any 3rd-party-app.
- Recorded Tracks can be exported as *.kml and *.csv for later use on a desktop pc.
But if you just want to have the gps logging part, you'd better go for a real gps logger.
Developed by Samsung and distributed free of charge through Google Play, Eyes On The Road is an application that has as its main aim is to prevent many accidents arising from the use of a phone while driving.
Once installed the app will take care to reduce distractions from your smartphone silencing all notifications (SMS, calls and third-party app) if the detected speed exceeds 20 km per hour.
Eyes on the Road is also able to activate the auto answer feature to report to anyone looking to get in contact with us that we are in the car.
Here's a video on the operation:

here is a copy of the latest version and you can install it as simple apk through the following link:
http://dfiles.eu/files/5yux7xh75
Tried it on my S4 I9505, but it doesn't work.
It keep searching for my location and when manually activated (but not driving), it keeps saying "activating".
Did anyone manage to get it working on a I9505 ?
I've got a Samsung S3 Frontier and want to use it to for hiking. I use All-Trails on my Android phone but they don't don't provide a S3 app. Does anyone know of an app that will let me load a trail, I can use a GPX file to load the trail into a different app on my phone but I don't see an app that also has the S3 support I need.
I'm looking for the ability to at least track distance, waypoint so it can be showin on a map, speed, elevation, elevation gain per hour, etc. The watch has all the sensors I need, I just need an app will work for hikes.
Looked at MapMyHike but it doesn't have a S3 companion app.
Any help would be appreciated,

Hi,
I like to use komoot.
(can't give you the link, cause i didn't used xda much yet)
I think you got all the features you named. If you want to have an offline map, buy it or try to use some discounts.
You'll be lucky to find any good app on here ? never mind a specific one, roll on an Android wear port

I just asked something similar and I see you didn't get much help either. Did you use the Samsung Health hiking feature? It worked really good on the way up and didnt measure crap on the way down. I wonder if there is a way to get the hiking feature on its on widget and out of the health widget

Finally - after 2 years of waiting - there is now a real hiking app available, that has all the features I always wanted: Locus Map Pro/Free Watch.
This works in conjunction with
Locus Map Free/Pro - Hiking GPS navigation and maps phone app (for Android) - which is a feature and map rich app by itself.
The watch app support lots of different maps (not just Google...). It supports track recording, navigation, stats etc.
You can plan a hike on your phone and then follow it on the watch.
I fully recommend it.
I used it now on several hikes and am fully satisfied - finally after trying so many other "hiking" apps.
More info on the locusmap website (sorry linke posting not allowed.

This is unusable solution, because you must have phone with you. It's not standalone application.
Have you tried Gaia GPS? It just might work with your S3. I've recently gone camping at Lower Lake and almost got off route. I would've wandered in circles for a while had it not been for this app. I downloaded the offline map of the area before the hike, and it paid off - I was able to find my way back to the trail. My friend hikes more often than me, and he prefers PeakVisor. He says this app works kind of like augmented reality - you point your camera at the peak, and the app shows you the info on it and the trail to it using your camera and advanced 3D technology.
I am trying to figure out how I can access my workouts on the web or download them to my PC...

Ok... I had trouble with the HW Health app connecting to my watch... Then I installed Huawei Wear app and to it to sync to my watch and then the HW Health app was able to get readings from my watch...
Then I was able to share it...

Hi friends,
I was looking for a way to view/analyze the activities - and to create a history to see the trend after a few years.
Problem:
* Must be compatible with already recorded data in runkeeper, support new devices and software in future
* Huawei Health cannot export, so after factory reset or with a new phone all data will be lost.
* Runtastic: limited functionality without premium account
* Runkeeper: was my favorite in the past, but cannot record heart rate data and it doesnt transfer GPS data to google fit
* Google fit: shows heart rate data in the phone, but not on the web. and limited functionality (only a few statistics)
Now I found another way :good:
Use google fit on your watch. It will save all data to your google account.
Export the data with https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout - as TCX file
Install mytourbook on PC http://mytourbook.sourceforge.net/mytourbook/
change the activity desciption field >>options>>import>>TCX
import the TCX files. It can import all at once...
Great tool. I'm so happy now...It shows all the data even heart rate. I can modify, merge activies. It can show statistics...awesome.
The only thing i miss is the temperature, but I guess the HW2 has no temp sensor...
Good luck

A little bit late, but Ghostracer will record GPX / TCX on your phone or watch and automatically upload to online services like runkeeper, strava and smashrun. That way you don't have to do all that data manipulation, it just *works*
Does the Huawei health app data sync with Google fit and access the data from there?
Is any software to export this automatically and import to Endomondo, Nike+ and others? Is Endomondo heart rate sensor compatible?

No. The Huawei app is bogus bloatware.
I got the huawei watch 2 a few weeks ago and I am still trying to find the best way to record my runs and other activities. One thing I noticed is there is no need to use the huawei apps... You can use runstatic, strava or google fit directly on your watch. They will even record your heart rate. And you can have google play music running on the background for offline music.
When you return home data will get sync'ed and your exercise will show up on strava or runstatic on your phone. You can set Strava or other apps to connect to google fit service... So data will go to google fit if you have that enabled.
And, If battery is not a problem, you can even have more than one app running at the same time on your watch to track your exercices .
Of course, it would be nice to use the default app, since it seems to be better suited to the watch screen and because it has heart rate zones and training programs... But I never found a way to export data from huawei health to strava, endomondo or any other of these well known platforms.
By the way... Google fit seems to work perfectly for the gym. It automatically recognizes what kind of exercise I am doing, how many repetitions, etc and it even tells me to rest between each set of repetition.
A few updates...
Google fit is proving to be unreliable. I sometimes get different things on the phone, watch and web. Furthermore, I don't know why, but the last times I tried using Google fit directly on the watch, it did not send the heart rate to Google fit on the phone.
By now I really think the most reliable way to use the watch is to track the activities with Ghostrace or Runtastic on the watch and then use syncmytracks on the phone. Syncmytracks can send the activitiss to many other platforms... I am syncing to endomondo and Google fit.
The watch includes a 3 months trial for runtastic which I am finding perfect.
I still need to figure how to have audio feedback for interval training.
UPDATE...
I reset my watch and reinstalled google fit on my phone. Now everything seems fine. Google fit is recording my heart rate continually during the day. After a run I now get a "heart rate" graph (previously I was only getting pace and elevation). ...... Ghostrace is still better though: customizable screens and upload to strava.
Nice thread. Im having the same problem with my Huawei watch 2.
Shame how Huawei didn't figure how to cloud sync.
Unfortunately, Google fit seems to sync false data from Huawei health app.
Other helath apps are fine but they don't have the details of the Huawei health app and the training programs.
To bad thus stupied little things that are deal breakers.

One stupid and simple solution is to use both apps at the same time.. Start the tracking in strava (or ghostracer) and then switch to the default app and start the tracking there. This way you get the benefits of the default watch app (vo2max, trainning programs, etc) and you get your activities sync'ed to strava. The extra battery drain is minimal.
Everyone,
Please report the issue of the " Google fit syncs wrong exercice values from the Huawei app."
Google actually see thus feedbacks so it can help.
Go to the workout in google fit-> 3 dot menu-> send feedback
How do u get GF on watch to sync your heartrate on regular basis and also track activity correctly.
I've use HW but found if reset or change device I lose everything, I tried runtastic which seems fine, but rather just use 1 app which works properly.
I also have my Huawei Watch 2 now and even though I am not clueless but I have the following problems:
- I prefer Endomondo (to Runtastic at least) as it is cheaper and I find it better. Right now Endomondo runs on the watch but it is kind of like an extension of the mobile app only - Endomondo say Androir Wear 2.0 is not natively supported. (can anybody confirm?)
- right now there is no way to get my data into Endomondo. (Fit only imports FROM Endomondo but not backwards). Of course I can add my trainings manually but it sucks
- Runtastic is not bad, it tracks a hike well, you can also export the .gpx (or even to other formats) from the web afterwards and there enough info to analyze
- I find the Huawei Workout app completely useless (is there any way to uninstall from the watch? I haven't figured out yet)
- Google Fit and Fit Workout apps are not useless but close
- other honorable mentions are LocusMaps and Viewranger (this one the least customizable)
Almost forgot to mention: Runtastic is so far the only one being able to do AutoPause. Which is very useful !
Any tips or experience?
PS: I used to have a TomTom Adventurer and I mainly do hikes. (geocaching and stuff)
Sometime I miss the simplycity of the TomTom watch. It synced to the TomTom mobile app or PC and to Endomondo with that.

Altough I have a Huawei Band 2 Pro, the takeout process is not working for me perfectly. Before I bought my watch, I gave a try to the process, tracking a route with Huawei Health, connect to Fit, takeout, upload to Strava, which was working fine, however the route recorded by the Band 2 Pro when gets synced to Fit, looks like to lose its gps information (gets only into Low Accuracy folder and doesn't contain the position - compared to a Strava record). The map is however visible in Health (and I didn't take the phone to my route), so there must be record of the position information. Any ideas what could I do?
I have being using the procedured I mentioned for a long time now and it is still working perfectly. I start ghostracer on the watch and then I switch to the huawei app and start it (I find it better suited to the watch screen and therea are the trainning programs)... When I am back home ghostracer automaticaly sync the activity to strava and the huawei app sync it to huawei heath.
Btw... The software on the watch has improved a lot.. it now records my sleelps, google fit is better an I even think the battery is lasting longer.
Greetings.
I'm trying to spoof Google Maps location sharing into showing a fake GPS position to the other party. I tried several fake GPS apps, and while they are running Google Maps shows the spoofed location, however - Location Sharing stops sharing and is frozen on the last (real) location that was shared before the spoofing started.
I'm open to any ideas how to achieve this.
Thanks.

I don't know if there is a better answer but maybe you can try a mock gps location app that constantly changes its location (with concomitant altitude changes) every few seconds?
The free gsf free google free ad free highly rated mock gps location app I use that has a setting for random motion (for example every 3 seconds it moves 30 feet from a given starting point) is Lexa (but I'm sure others exist that also will fake motion and altitude over time).
[Lexa] Fake GPS location
All you do is enable Developer Options and then set the "Default Mock Location App" to Lexa (or to whatever fake GPS location app you chose).
Here's what Google Play says about the Lexa fake-GPS location app.
Teleport your phone to any place in the world with two clicks! This app sets up fake GPS location so every other app in your phone belives you are there!Has Tasker support and can be started/stopped from command line (See FAQ for details)+++IMPORTANT+++Be aware that after using FakeGPS you may find your location LOCKED TO THE LAST MOCKED LOCATION EVENT AFTER UNINSTALL FakeGPS!It's not a bug and your GPS sensor isn't broken. There are two ways to fix this issue:1. Install "GPS Status" from the Play, launch and get a fresh GPS fix. You may need to repeat it several times with 30 min interval.2. Start FakeGPS, set your real location and leave it so for several hours. You may combine these steps. The issue will disappear in one or two days - be patient. For ROOTED devices you can mock locations without enabling "Allow mock locations" option. To do so please use Root Explorer or other similar app and move /data/app/ru.lexa.fakegps~1.apk to /system/priv-app or to /system/app (for Android 4.3 and older). Then change apk permissions to rw-r-r and reboot your device. If you find apk in /syste/priv-app disappears after reboot it means that your devices has S-ON mode enabled and so restores /system folder aftear each reboot. Please google how to switch your device to S-OFF mode.If you can't find ru.lexa.fakegps.apk in /data/app you may find it at /mnt/asec/ru.lexa.fakegps/1.apk. In this case you should copy and rename it to /system/priv-app/ru.lexa.fakegps.apk.

Even though I'm normally set up with my Location radios off, I like trhat this app can startup at boot and run constantly (whether my Android Location is on or off).
If any app asks for Location (such as Wi-Fi debuggers), then I let them get the fake location. But if I need the real location, I just open up the fake location app and press the "Pause" button.
When I'm done needing my real location, I just open up the fake location app and press the "Play" button to start it up again. (Of course, that jumps to the fake location, and randomly moves from there, so it's not perfect.)
There's also the FOSS ad free app named "Private Location" which seems to have a bit less functionality (but perhaps more privacy?)

The one I use does that I think (you can set the update period if 3 seconds and 30 feet is too fast or too slow for you, I think).

I can suggest to use XPrivacyLua and define of fake lacation for Maps or define correct location but with predefined (meters) inaccuracy.
Just use GPS Emulator. I use it all the time.

I agree. I feel it's better to add to an existing question than it is to create the exact same question as a separate thread. It's easier for people who search to find the answers and for others to add better or more detailed solutions.

Also, sometimes an app name isn't unique, or, it has multiple locations, so I always strive to add a link to the app so that the person searching has an easier time finding the suggested solutions.
To that end, here are the three fake-gps apps with spoofing of location movement (with concomitant altitude changes) that were suggested (in the order they were suggested).
Fake GPS Location, by Lexa (free, no ads, no gsf, rating 4.6)
XPrivacyLua, by Marcel Bokhorst (free, no ads, no gsf, no rating, needs rooting)
GPS Emulator, by RosTeam (free, has ads, requires gsf, rating 4.6)
I'm not sure if I found the correct links, particularly for XPrivacyLua which seems to need rooting and which also has a lot of links that point to different aspects of the program.
XPrivacyLua on Google Play
XPrivacyLua on GitHub
XPrivacyLua on xda
XPrivacyLua on Xposed
XPrivacyLua on FairCode
If others can confirm or correct the links above, everyone else will instantly benefit who search for and find this answer.
