App Launcher and battery management settings - Huawei P40 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi,
While debloating my P40 Pro, I seem to have accidentally deleted the apps that allow app launcher and battery optimisation settings to be opened.
I'm reluctant to factory restore the phone as I have GAPPs working flawlessly (thanks to @badmania98), so I was wondering if anyone knew what apps I need to reinstall to bring back the functionality?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Ross

Found the fix thanks to badmania98. Reactivated Optimiser in the ADB tool and it allowed App Launcher to work and for me to deactivate power restrictions.

[HOW-TO] vanillarize your MT4G

Since there is so much moaning and groaning about the mysense UI here are a few (noobproof) suggestions on how to get the most "vanilla" experience out of your mytouch. Feel free to add to the list.
Faster performance/vanilla appearance
Set LauncherPro (Plus) as your default launcher.
Search key replacement:
Since the search button is replaced by the genius button I would suggest the following: in launcherplus (home screen) long press the dock key that normally opens the application drawer. Select: swipe gesture action -> launch shortcut -> activities -> google search -> com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.SearchActivity
Now you can bring up the search widget on your home screen by simply swiping your finger over the app drawer key (swipe up)
removing bloatware:
there are several methods but I find this to be the easiest.
Install visionary from market and temp-root the device
install titanium backup (EDIT: you might need to buy the Pro version)
open titanium backup, press "problems?" and install busybox (needed after every reboot)
reopen titanium backup and go to backup/restore
click on an unwanted application and select "freeze". This will not fully remove the application but will permanently disable it so it will not show up in the launcher or run in the background. you can freeze/unfreeze applications as you want. Freezing is NOT undone by rebooting the phone and has to be undone in titanium backup.
If you are seriously worried about the space these applications take up you can also long press an application in titanium backup and select "force remove app (by recovery exploit)" which will permanently remove the app. (might cause problems with OTA updates)
Disabling T-mobile crap
settings -> accounts & sync -> disable T-mobile sync
make sure to save new contacts as google contacts (t-mobile automatically set to default)
Still not satisfied?
settings -> SD & phone storage -> factory data reset -> put back in box -> exchange for G2
Hope this helps
cool didnt know about the freeze thing, ill do that as i heard if you delete the apps you wont get OTA updates
Oh and I'd turn off the t-mobile account sync. Let me know if anyone figures out how to make google contacts standard when creating new contacts
is there much space to be saved by force removing a app or will freezing any certain apps make the phone run any faster? i installed launcher pro /better keyboard/ handcent probably 5mins after opening up the MT4G.. i did the visionary root like 2 days ago, along with setcpu .. and the phone is running pretty good hitting high 1900's and low 20xx quadrant benchmark scores..but if i can make it run faster by removing some apps not used i will.
I found that I could use a terminal emulator to disable the bloatware at the package level. Does this do the same as "freezing"?

Yep, it's the same thing just that Titanium backup runs the script for you and keeps track of what you froze so you can see what's frozen and whats not. It's the same thing just more user friendly.

Exactly the same.
Ooops. Beat me to it.
Thanks, I might have to re-enable them and then go do it through titanium backup.

I don't think there is much to be gained by force removing apps (over just freezing). Yes, you free up some internal memory but it's unlikely you'll ever need it. Even with all the preinstalled crap and all of my applications (quite a few and none installed to sd yet) I still have over 800mb of free space. There is no way I'm ever gonna use it all. On the flip side you might even run into some OTA problems when removing some apps like some G2 owners did with Google Goggles.
I would just go ahead and freeze all the preinstalled apps you don't need. That'll stop them from running in the background and potentially wasting memory and battery power. Chances are you won't notice a big performance increase since the MTG4 can handle a lot of background processes but at least the junk won't clutter up your app drawer any longer

I'd be interested to know if you have to reenable them first for titanium backup to recognize the packages. Lemme know
I don't know, but I'm quite sure that freezing is 'premium' feature of this most well-deserved piece of software.

It appears you're right sir
EDIT: Actually you don't need the pro version. I just tried it with the free version and it still gives me the option to freeze apps.
The button is there but when you push it it ask you to buy pro

Weird - I uninstalled both, the pro key and the free version and only reinstalled the free version. It let me freeze/defrost apps just fine just using the free version. Maybe because I already had some apps frozen (which it recognized as such) when I reinstalled the free version?!?

I disabled some apps in Terminal Emulator and when I look in TB, they show as frozen.

[Q] Hide apps in drawer / Safe to remove stock apps and safe to disable startup

Don't wanna make 3 new threads.
Do you guys have a list of safe to remove stock apps and safe to disable startup processes? I want to speed up my phone.
Also, somebody know how to just hide apps in the drawer? I know LauncherPro Plus does it, but I'm using ADW and really don't want to change just because of it.
Thanks in advanced guys.
for the disabling apps on startup i think android assistant would help, never used it for that purpose tho but it has and option to kill apps on startup

[Q] "force closing problem"

Recently I have download some apps that would have to run in the background
Apps :
Lockdown pro
Tasker
Lookout
Slidelock
Open mic+
However after some time, these get forced without any notifications
For slide lock, accessibility off after some time which makes "forced" closed.
I have been finding what is the problem or a solution to this problem but there hasn't not been any concrete solutions.
Possible reasons:
-1GB ram
-MIUI ROM
-???
Please I need help for this problem. Thanks in advanced!
My best guess for you is that you run out of ram. Do you use other ram-intensive apps? I'd just make sure you're clearing the apps out of your recents once you close out of them.

After reading your reply , I tried not enabling an app in the background to see if all the apps would be disabled again.
Currently , I off tasker and the apps doesn't seem to force close.
Anyway , thanks!

I think it is not low ram issue.... may be app or OS and processer are not compatible with each others

Chinese Android car stereo

Good morning all,
I am coming for help with my Chinese Android car stereo, which I recently bought from Amazon.
I am on Android 9.1 and unfortunately I would like to remove the basic luncher installer. to make way for nova, which suits me much better.
The problem is, I can't delete this luncher, or even deactivate it!
Is there a way around this problem?
Thank you for your answers in advance. Have a good day.
Go to Settings - Apps & notifications - Default apps - Launcher
Can you change your default luncher to nova here without deleting the stock one?

I have configured nova Launcher by default, but on every reboot the old Launcher reverts to default.
Try to disable the default launcher. You achieve this by means of ADB.

Question how to remove bixby and other apps

hi is it possible to completely remove bixby, for some reason i only can pick bixby when i hold power button, any help thanks, also how can i remove samsung apss, like calendar, clock and what not
You can't "actually" remove them without custom firmware that does not include them. You can, however, "uninstall" them.
It's a trick that uninstalls for the current user, which is similar to the stock functionality of disabling apps.
[GUIDE] [DEBLOAT] Remove stock apps WITHOUT ROOT
Asus Zenfone has stock android without bloatware .. why this thread is created ?? Agreed that we have near stock android and most of the apps can be disabled in settings. But with the method mentioned below, app will never wake up to consume...
forum.xda-developers.com
I believe there is a Samsung thread somewhere that gives the package names for a lot of those apps.
found sideActions on play store to removed and remap bixby. now on to removing these damn apps
you should just have a setting in settings / advanced features for the sidekey.
