okay. so i overclocked my wizzy to 312 right... for the past few days it was doing good.. but today.. i noticed that it wouldnt automatically turn off even though i had the timers set... then i noticed that the ilauncher battery indicator was blank.. then i noticed the battery status indicator said -1%... i soft reset, hard reset, uninstalled and everything i could... ok.. so now here i am.. no clue where my battery is at... my device is now stock.. meaning nothing installed but battery status... and im not overclocking. any ideas on how to get 'er back to normal?
try draining the battery completely, til your wizard dies, then recharge it. This will 'cycle' the battery. You may have to perform this procedure a few times.
I had a Wizard for a bit (it was the T-Mo US MDA G4 variant). I recall that whenever I tried overclocking beyond 240MHz it would be OK for quite a bit then always ended in a horrible freeze up! I darn near bricked the device... Actually, I really thought it was completely done for one time! I believe I managed to get out of that particular hole by putting it into bootloader mode (can't remember the key combo to do it but I am certain it is in the XDA-dev wiki) then reflashing the ROM. There are a couple of different special programmer modes that special key combos can put it in, and I remember somehow trying them and managing to jog it into life just enough to reflash with the stock ROM. Thankfully, that saved the device (but not my data) but it was a close one!
I can quite understand you wanting overclock to the max. Yep. there are many warnings not to overclock too high or one risks frying the Wizard... I ignored them too! The Wizard is a nice device but the 200MHz processor is a little bit of a weak point (makes for good battery life though, which I am sure was the intention) Best of luck. Hopefully you can get up and running again. Assuming you do (fingers crossed) I suggest trying to live with 240MHz and if that really doesn't cut it for you, maybe start saving those pennies for your next phone!
The battery drain-out suggestion posted sounds good too... whatever can get you up and running is good at this point!
Sorry to bump the thread, just thought of something else. I can't recall if the Wizard has a reserve power battery hidden away inside it, but for what it's worth... another time I had a device where the screen stopped resonding completely and hard resets did not help. Looked like it was warranty service time for sure. Then I tried taking the battery out and leaving it out overnight, then putting it back and doing a hard reset. Hey presto, screen worked, no service required.
The battery cycling suggestion is basically the same idea, I am just adding it may be worth leaving it completely drained and without power for a few hours before recharging so that any charge stored in the device can completely clear. Once again... good luck!
I had the same problem. Just to see if it's exacly the same check if there is info about radio when wizard is starting (gsm ....). If not just flash your wizard with radio (in my case only 1.31 worked).

nope.. i missed no warnings... i heard every single one.. but there were mixes of stories of some who had success at 312 and i felt i might be one of the chosen.... apparently not.. so i'm at work now. the battery died completely last night on me.. and none of my charging options at home worked (USB plugged into the computer).. i got the orange light for a minute or two... then it went out compltely.. haven't seen the boot screen since last night.. so now i'm at work with my charger going to work on the batter.. it's been about 20 mins and still no light.. if not.. i'll call cingular with a "warranty request". *smiles*

Reminds me of a "friend" (not me) of a "friend" (not me) who had a Wizard (not mine) and attempted to do an antenna boost thingy (not mine/I wouldn't) and totally botched it (I'd never even try that) then stuck it back together with some glue (despicable/I was shocked!) and returned it to the store.
I hope I made it clear this was a friend of my friend and absoutely was not me? Oh, and I tried to stop them! ...yeah, that's how it was....

Did you tried the "pull out the batttery before pluging in the charger and after a few seconds inserting the battey" thing ?

Yeah, that's the ticket!!! LMAO!!!
i feel so horribly guilty.. i'm so sorry. i promise.. after this time i'll never do it again.. we swears it.. on.. on.. The Precious!! yeah.. i got my replacement today.. problem is... STILL NOT WORKING.. i feel like a fool.. the whole time it was the battery and not the phone.. so now i'm faced with a delima.. now i can go and try to get my battery replaced which the local stores say they don't have.. so i'd have to take a long hike to the local exchange spot. i'm going to send the phone back though.. since it's the battery.. but a valuable lesson has been learned.. i'm going back to wm5 and relocking the phone.. having the new roms is great... but if something goes wrong.. i'd like to have my support.
Well, in a way that is good news it turned out to be the battery, apart the fact that getting your hands on another one sounds like at least a mild nuisance.
I am stating the obvious here, and I am sure your have already mulled this over. It sounds like the Wizard isn't really meeting your needs. I choose to have a large contacts database and other stuff on my phone. In combination with the 200MHz CPU, the Wizard wasn't really the right device for me. I am not criticizing the Wizard, just saying it wan't right for me.
An upgrade to the Hermes or somthing similar might be a good bet. But I know it's all more cash... and quite a bit of it too! Again, this is obvious stuff and I am sure you have considered this already.
For what it is worth I would do much the same in your situation. I'd consider this a close call and stick with the stock ROM for a bit, at least while I thought over my options and made sure everything is definitely OK with a new battery.
Best of luck

There are lots of threads on how to fix the "dead" battery issue...
--M
remedied... got my hands on another battery.. you guys are great. thanks for all the advice.. i'm actually considering the 8525.(it's been on my mind) but that extra cash... i don't know.. the wife and i are considering another little one.. soooo.. perhaps. Thanks again everyone!
Best of luck if you go for another little one. Kids are totally great and much more important that any phone! Now let me see what I would do with my hard earned cash, give even more money to Cingular or spend it on my family hmmmm.... I'd give it to Cingular. NOT!
The way I personally see it is your Wizard is a great phone and, hey, we all know that give it just a bit longer there is gonna be some another device out we all want instead of a Hermes/8525 or whatever takes our personal fancy! That is just how it is for us gadget freaks! Post-poning an upgrade for as long as one can stand it is often a win-win really!
Maybe you are right to keep you Wiz more to stock specs and get the support and make it last out for a bit. I know the overclock wasn't the problem after all, but I would imagine that cranking it high might at least shorten its life. Personally I think I would at least roll back on that one. 312 was pretty darn speedy! (Impressive, but gosh, that is seriously turbo!)
I spent bunch of cash on my Trinity and have just hopped to Cingy to get the 3G. But to be honest, I don't even pick up the 3G in lots of places yet. I really like the phone and everything. But was it really worth the money...?Truthfully? No. It was an absurd purchase. I just decided not to think about that and buy it anyway!
Anyhow, good luck with everything all round

Orbit to saga.. 1 prob fixed, 1 new prob.. Sim Not recognised.halp?

Hey all, after my last post on fixing the white screen problem, im glad to announce that the replacement did the trick nicely and i have this lil baby up and running again!.
tho in doing this i have run into another problem...
everytime i turn the phone on its telling me that the sim card isnt inserted when it clearly is...
i have had the phone appart 5 times now, have cleaned the contacts, checked for breaks in the ribbon cable and done a number of hard and soft resets..
im really stuck in a dead end as i really want ot get this working again... ;-(
any ideas?
Glad to hear that changing the screen fixed it.
Now you have hit a common problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3980181#post3980181
If that doesnt work then maybe a new sim tray as well will be needed
thanks chris, was a godsend to be able to see what i was doing again lol.
as for the sim card, not sure if this will help anyone else but i solved my problem!!!!!!! ;-)
(i really hope this would work for others)
all i did was forcibly took the battery out without turning it off and left the battery out overnight.
when i put the battery back in and turned it on the next morning it flippin worked!!!!!.
totally random but hell i aint complainin lol

doesnt seem right that a battery issue would cause your phone to do a hard reset.

I'm guessing it was the bent battery pin issue that seems to cause constant rebooting for some people, the OP might have used the term "hardreset" incorrectly

[Q] Screen unresponsive - slow - random - annoying!!

Hi team,
First post so be kind.
I did post this on an andriod forum and someone suggested I come here.
I've had a HTC Sensation for a while, since first released. After around 2 weeks of getting it I was experiencing an issue with the screen not being very responsive. Difficult to unlock, text, answer calls! It's sooo annoying. Luckily I had my phone swap not problem by Vodafone. Now it's been around 4 weeks now since getting my replacement and just yesterday I've started with the same f-ing problem!
I've tried the usual stuff, clean screen, clear cache, kill programs, remove battery.
Anyone else having problems like this?
I can't bloody answer calls !

And that's only a few using search.....
My advice, discharge till it dies, put it on charge from USB port, don't touch it till it's fully charged. Might fix it.
Oh, btw, welcome to XDA.
I noticed the same problems. I am getting the same issue i had on my Droid Incredible where if i am not holding the device and its on a table, i cant seem to unlock it. I've been draining the battery down to 2% or less before recharging it each night i've had the phone and nothing has changed relating to this issue. I think it's just something that if a lot of people complain about, HTC will try to make some software changes in an update to address the issue somehow.
Excellent thanks. Can't stand this thing for much longer!!

Please help, my S6 NEVER goes into deep sleep...

Dear all,
I am writing this post to hopefully get some help or directions regarding my issue, because I have already spent hours and hours looking on the internet trying fixes on my phone without anything working for me so far.. So I am getting a bit hopeless....
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-920I model), and since the beginning i have been shocked by how CRAPPY the battery life was. To give you some ideas, my phone loses around 3-5% of battery per hour when idling and screen off, meaning I am not doing anything at all with my phone. Overnight, I lose about 15-20% battery with my phone on airplane mode, power saving, or whatever else you want, when it is not doing anything at all..
I know that my problem is a deep sleep problem, quite easy to identify i guess, so I have spent a lot of time reading and trying to fix it by myself but so far nothing worked.
To give you some background, after unpacking the phone I quickly upgraded Android from 5.0 to 5.1.1, so I cannot tell how it was working at 5.0. It is only after that I saw that a lot of people have issues on 5.1, but it is strange because just before having my S6, I was having a OnePlus One on 5.1 and I didn't have such battery problems and everything worked fine except turning off the "keep awake" setting option for GooglePlayServices.
What I can say though, is that since I upgraded I never had so much difficulties trying to fix a problem on any Android phone than before. Basically, since day 1, my phone never went a single time into deep sleep mode.
So far, to fix this, I tried all the following:
- Reflash the stock firmware (Samsung 5.1.1) --> many times, with full Cache/davik wipe and factory resets
- Root my phone using UniKernel
- Install custom ROM (I am running XtreStoLite version 2.2) + all kinds of wipe/factory reset
- Flash different kernel that are shipped with the ROM (there are 5 different ones if I remember)
- Use my phone with only stock apps (to see if the problem comes from one of my apps)
- Cold reboots
- The "DeepSleepFix" using the Android terminal as described here: http://zidroid.com/fix-battery-drain-and-deep-sleep-issue-on-galaxy-s6-and-s6-edge/
- And desperately, try to use my phone normally for now
Overall, I would say that my battery would last roughly 15 -20h in total with normal usage, not even heavy, which quite sucks..
I can show the no deep sleep issue to you with some screenshots (cf. below) , I have tried many applications to try to find the root cause such as:
- WLD
- 3C CPU
- BetterBatteryStats
- GSAM
etc.
I am monitoring my phone closely for the past 1-2 weeks and so far I have never seen it being in deep sleep at all (at least more than 0.2 seconds in total..). Also, when I check on the default Battery menu of Android, after a full day I would usually see "Android OS" on top and using 20-30% of the battery at least.
The problem seems to boil down to a process called "LHD" in the kernel wakelock. This is keeping my phone awake 100% of the time, whether I am using the phone or if I am not. However, even with this info I tried to search online and I cannot find anything about "LHD", so I am really stuck right now.. Do anybody knows what it is and why it is a problem for me?
If any of you have a solution or can give me some guidelines to help me fix this issue, I would really appreciate any help. If you need more information from me also let me know.
Thank you for taking the time to read me,
Best regards.
I have G920I too and solved my problem using deepsleepfix and taking out the GSM CHIP e put into phone again. Looks ridiculous and no sense, but worked for me...
OBS.: In BetterBatteryStats my kernel wakelock was GPSD.
Hope this will help you

Hi, thanks for your reply.
You mean you took out the GSM chip and flashed the phone using the DeepSleepFIx.zip file, and it worked? I already tried the deepsleepfix and it didn't work for me, but I didn't remove the GSM chip.
I can try that.. even though it is strange.
I just flashed the deepsleep and then took out GSM chip
Ok thanks thiagomed.
I tried what you did.. I flashed the DeepSleepFix.zip without my SIM in the phone, it changed nothing.
I also removed it and put it back later on after flashing again just to try. The problem is still there.
I really don't know what to do anymore.. Thanks for your help tough.

Have you tried a factory reset and not installing any of your apps? Maybe it's an app keeping the phone awake?

As specified in my post, yes.... even when I was running the stock Android 5.1.1 with no other apps than the ones comming with the fresh OS installed, I already experienced this issue.
The problem is the process LHD in Android Kernel that is running all the time, phone on or off, and draining my battery.
I cannot find any information on this process and how to fix my issue...
Can this issue of never going into deep sleep at all (I mean I am always at 0s...) be a reason for going to Samsung support and ask for a replacement ? I find other people having no problem with their S6 and mine I tried so many things and nothing fixes my deepsleep issue... Getting sick of this phone.

Yes, after some time and a lot of trouble. I tried everything on the software side and nothing could fix it (flash, re flash, clear cache, reinstall other ROM, apply deep sleep patch fix, etc.). Nothing WORKED.
So it had to be a hardware issue.
I went to see Samsung and I had to argue with them several times showing them screenshots of my phone never sleeping over time, because they were not believing me and trying to say that this is normal..
They changed my battery first, and the problem was still there.
I went back later on to show them again, then they finally changed the whole motherboard of the phone (which includes the CPU as well) and since then everything is working as intended. My phone is now in deep sleep about 70-90% of the time depending on my usage.
To convince them to change my CPU, I had to show them stats of the same phone (S6) from one of my friends which shows the amount of deep sleep he has during the day, compared to mine which was zero. So that they cannot bull**** me it was the "normal behavior" .
Basically I did their troubleshooting job.. but thankfully in the end they manage to change the motherboard and fix this super annoying issue. Because having a phone that drains all the battery in 7h when you do nothing is really annoying.
