Huawei P40 pro stuck at Emui 11.0.0.230 - Huawei P40 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello, I have a Huawei P40 Pro and have been using google services for the past 2 years without any issues until a few weeks back. After the latest upgrade to EMUI 12 my google services stopped working and i have tried everything on your forum to get them working again.
I have reached the point to formating my phone and trying to downgrade to EMUI 10 to install Google services again but after reaching 11.0.0.230 i could not donwgrade to 10.
I have managed to not depend on google services any more and have come to terms of not having them on my phone any longer.
My problem is that now i cannot upgrade back to EMUI 12. I have tried through my computer and through My Huawei. I have swapped out sims and a lot of other methods i could find but i am stuck.
Please someone help me out. I have provided below information of my phone model:
Base Software Version: ELS-LGRP4-OVS 11.0.0.230
Cust Software Version: ELS-N29-CUST 11.0.0.6(C185)
Preload Software Version: ELS-N29-PRELOAD 11.0.0.6(C185R3)
Model: ELS-NX9
Build No.: 11.0.0.230(C185E6R3P3)
EMUI version: 11.0.0
Android version: 10

Yes, but won't I will lose all my data?
Where can I find the latest OTG to download through flash drive?

I managed to get 12 without wiping anything.
I did the following:
1) While phone is switched off, keep power and volume + button pressed.
2) Once you see the Huawei logo, release the power button but keep the volume + buttom pressed
3) you will enter recovery mode and you can use volume up and down buttons to navigate
4) press e-recovery and then chose update and recover phone
5) log onto WiFi network and your phone will find latest update

1. Any downgrade method: data will be deleted
2. Upgrade using: OTA, HiSuite, HiSuite Proxy, eRecovery (wifi), My Huawei app : data will not be deleted
3. Upgrade using: DLOAD (OTG): data will be deleted.

Hi, I have a p40 pro with GMS working, emui 11.0.0.202
Phone suggest me to an upgrade, but I am in doubt that GMS will stop working.
Do you have experience in that? Do you know the latest version usable until GMS is ok?
Thanks in advance

I dont want to open another thread so I will use this one.
My phone is P40 pro 432 region and it is stuck on Emui 12.0.0.290 firmware (november update).
All the solutions I have found on the internet did not help (MyHuawei app, HiSuite, eRecovery, fake GPS location, remove SIM, change region...).
What is interesting is that my warranty expired in november and untill then I would get regular updates at the end of the month. After that - zero.
I have read somewhere online that after the warranty expires you get quarterly updates instead of monthly, maybe that is the case with me.
I was even courious to see is my OTA broken so I returned my phone to EMUI 11 (260) and then I emediatly got an update to EMUI 12 (218) followed directly by EMUI 12 (290). It was like a 6 GB update so they have packed all the monthly updates into one big one. And that is where it stays now.
Do you guys have any idea why is my phone no longer updating?

So yesterday evening I finally found some free time to try this method and now my phone has the february update.
You solved my problem. Thank you once more.

One more question, I have also checked the roms on https://professorjtj.github.io/ and for P40 pro 432 region there is a HarmonyOS rom. How is that possible? I thought there is no HarmonyOS for any 432 region phone.

It is HarmonyOS as it is version 102 = A typo.
Actually it is EMUI12.

Thanks for clarifying. Thumbs up. I have seen that there is HarmonyOS for p50 pro c432 (was reading that part of forum) so I thought it was the same situation

Two days ago I got an OTA update for march (315) so looks like my OTA is working fine again after flashing full rom with HiSuite proxy.

Guide to update from EMUI 8.x(Oreo) to EMUI 9.x(Pie)

Hi In this Guide I am going to show a way to update Emui 8.x to Emui 9.x using Firmware Finder
It can be used on locked and unlocked Bootloader.
Data mostly wont be erased but will be erased in some cases where stock system is tampered earlier.
It may or may not lock your Bootloader.
For this you need to install Firmware Finder app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder ) on your device , original thread for the app ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146/ )
Note 1:
This method requires latest EMUI 8.X available for your device. If you are not on the latest update repeat the below steps to install latest EMUI 8.x for your device.
Note 2: This process is safe to proceed if you have selected correct firmware for your device , If you try to flash wrong firmware and bricked your device I wont be responsible for it.
Steps to Update :
1. Install Firmware Finder App ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder)
2. Select your Device in the App
3. Check the list of available firmwares
4. If you are not on the latest EMUI 8.x firmware then you need to install it
5. Select the next update iteration for your device
6. Check whether the update is approved your IMEI or not if check step 11 below
7. If the update is approved Get an update through eRecovery (Note that for this method you have to change DNS in your Router)
8. Click On Next and copy DNS address from the App
9. Change DNS in the Router and reboot your Router (Check whether DNS is configured properly or not by clicking this URL http://query.hicloud.com/checkConnect.action if you get 404 then its not configured properly)
10. Now click on the check availablitiy if not yet approved check next step
11. There is a option for Register update in the screen now click on register update and click next here your IP will be registered for sending the update
12. Now connect your device to charger and reboot into eRecovery by pressing Volume+ button
13. Once its rebooted cleck on the option Download latest version and recovery
14. On Next step Download and recovery
15. It will search for WiFi and will list the available WiFi , select the WiFi which you used to register your IP in step 11
16. It will proceed to download the select firmware once it done it will Reboot.

Repeat the process till you are on the latest version of EMUI 8.x once its done you can Install EMUI 9.x
If it helps Donate to Huawei Firmware Finder (Team MT) and Thank them.
If this steps are helpful thank and rate this thread.
Or try this method if the above doesn't help.

May be network issue or recovery package is not available for your device try it again after some time.
After changing DNS where you able to access the URL provided in the app ?

Thanks bro anyway.I just want to update my firmware since im stuck with October 1st security patch.Tried everything but still no OTA update.
Anyway thanks for replying.
Thanks for the guide. Will the hurupdater method also work if i download the image and install it together with custom recovery to easily root it with the new magisk?

not work on honor play cor-l29
Sent from my HUAWEI COR-L29 using XDA Labs
Ive been trying this way on mine for weeks. I have the COR-L29 C432eu. It does find the firmware but it's the latest 8.x.x.132.
Only EMUI 8.1.X is approved.. EMUI 9.x isnt..
can I still force it to install? will there be any issues?
Easy tricks
The easiest way for honor play is to download a fake gps then change ur location to China and open HiCare -> update and you’ll see update available for you

HuRupdater is not yet available for emui 9 so I think it won't work.
You can use nocheck recovery to flash emui 9

Dude seriously you are out of your mind just stay away from this thread if its not helpful to you , I have atleast two success reports for COR-L29 and the comment you quoted says EMUi9.x is not yet approved for his/her device which is quite common and the workaround for it is step 10 and 11.
I repeat again if its not working for you , you have mentioned it just thats enough and there is no need for spamming every thread.
If you wish to contribute and not spam just send a bug report to firmware finder team they might solve the issue.

I might have broken my P30 ELE-L29

Hello everyone
I have a Huawei P30 ELE-L29 that was getting an OTA update so I put the phone in my pocket, after it updated it asked for a password (I never used a password or pattern or anything to lock it)
I tried many things like Find my Device (the site shows that it is not connected) and tried to remove keys with adb but the phone is oem and frp locked.

I did NOT reset the phone before trying the next thing I did, because there were things in it that couldn't be replaced. (I did reset it after i installed the EMUI 10 update and it failed to boot)
What I thought was that the update failed or something went wrong during it.
I downloaded every firmware available in this page
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p30-pro/how-to/ready-emui-10-c431-dload-version-t4008639
The firmware (ELE-L29B 10.0.0.168 C431E22R2P5) and ELE-L29B 10.0.0.168(C185E4R7P1) install successfully (VIA OTG) but the phone boots to this message "Your device has loaded a different operating system"
And it gets stuck like that for a few seconds before rebooting to the same message or to the eRecovery ( the eRecovery has the option to download and update via WIFI but it always returns with the same results of "get package info failed")
ALL other firmware (emui 9) Fail to install via OTG
What I want to know is can I save the phone? can I downgrade the firmware? will SP TOOLS work if all else fails or does it need usb debugging enabled too?
NOTE: SP Tools Asks for a SCATTER FILE that is supposed to be in the firmware zip but IT IS NOT, i don't know where to get it.

If you have EMUI 10 on your phone, you can't use any firmware to downgrade. Only way is by using HiSuite PC version 10 and an working device.
In order to pass the error with loaded different operating system, you will need to flash using dload firmware and an OTG adapter + memory stick or from an Huawei NMcard.
In order to help you get your device working, i will need to know what build and cust you have on your device now or before upgrading (ex: P30 ELE-L29 C431) so i can give you the link for proper firmware.

OK, let's say it's ELE-L29 c431. Flash this firmware in order to revive your device. If it's not working, then it means it's a C432 version and you will need a C432 dload firmware, which atm is not yet released.
Please let me know if this firmware for C431 worked

Glad i could help you, m8. Now you're back in business and with EMUI 10 on board :highfive:. Guess you'll receive v173 or v178 soon (check for OTA or with HiSuite PC version for update).
Enjoy it and Happy New Year to you too

Short answer is you can't . No firmware or other thing will work unless you have an unlocked bootloader with rooted system, which can't be done because Huawei shutdown their unlocking bootloader service.
The other way is to change your phone motherboard, which is ~ 200 $ at least....

I am about to downgrade my P40 Pro and I have some questions

Hello,
Lurker here. I want to downgrade my Huawei P40 Pro to a lower firmware to install GMS. For what is worth, I did some digging around to find out what would be the most safe way to do it and this is what I came up (did).
Firmware: I saw a lot of people have problems with their phones rebooting because of a wrong firmware version. I wanted to download my own off of MT-Team's database, but I noticed, that I cant seem to find my exact firmware. To be more precise, I'm not just looking at my area code, but also at the exact same build number: C432E8R5P2. I can't seem to find this exact build on MT-Team's database, so went somewhere else. I already bought a firmware from this site (I cant post links so I will just add a photo).

}
The firmware build number is exactly the same as mine (C432E8R5P2), not the mention that all the other info of the model and everything seems to check out. With what I bought, I would be downgrading to EMUI version 10.1.0.114.
Questions:
1. When choosing the right firmware, is its important that the whole build number matches? If so, have I chosen the right firmware? Do any of you know the vendor, is the software safe?
2. If the downgrade is successful, is its still possible to install GMS with an EMUI version 10.1.0.114?
Downgrade process: I am planning to wipe my phone clean before the whole process, buy an OTG cable and downgrade from an USB drive, because the whole process through HiSuite seems to have more risk, depending on the programs version, or am I wrong?
Questions:
3. Is it safer to downgrade from an USB drive via OTG cable, in comparison to HiSuite?
4. If the downgrade is not successful with the OTG cable/USB drive, what version of HiSuite should I use to downgrade the phone?
5. If my phone soft-bricks, are the any methods to fix it?
Thanks in advance

I successfully downgraded my Huawei P40 Pro.
Some details:
I could not go through with my initial plan, as the phone did not recognize the firmware, so I had to find another way.
I found my firmware (C432E8R5P2) via MT Firmware finder (PC), to version 10.1.0.131 with my exact firmware version (C432E8R5P2). Its number 409481 in the firmware finder, if this helps anyone. IMEI number also checked it out available for install.
I used HiSuite proxy and HiSuite 10.0.0.510 (because the newer versions did not let me connect to the proxy).
Wiped the whole phone clean + cache wipe.
Downgraded successfully and at the very end of it (once the downgrade is complete, it says it will now restart), restarted the phone to enter recovery (before it could restart into OS) - wipe the phone clean again + cache wipe.
Once booted, I did not get ANY errors, it was like a new phone. Used Googlefier to install GMS, it works.
Had NO problems with the phone, it let me update back to 10.1.0.176 (C432E8R5P2) and GMS is still working perfectly. No issues with the update, no use of HiSuite to update or anything.
10/10.
Hope this helps someone who has the exact firmware version as mine. I did not risk anything but the EXACT number as a whole. Worked the whole day to get this done.
Cheers

Question Poco X3 Pro stuck on MIUI 12.5 and can't update

Hi all,
i've just bought a Poco X3 Pro from Amazon and i was playing with it in order to decide if i'll keep it or not. The first thing that i wanted to do, was to update to the MIUI 13 to check if it was slower on that software, but the phone doesn't see any update and it is stuck at MIUI 12.5 (Global 12.5.5.0 RJUEUXM which seems to be the EEA/EU version). I've tried to search for update, i've tried to change the region, to enable "Receive updates before" but nothing changed.
I've tried also to download the update to use the "Choose package" option but it doesn't accept anything that i give to him. This is a first for me.
Is there anything else that i can try to do instead of unlocking the bootloader to use miflash? Just because i don't want to wait the 168 hourse of the process.
Thanks in advance!
nope, for me you need to unlock the bootloader to install any custom roms miui/aosp that's the only way i think.

Try to use XiaoMiTool V2, it should update your phone to latest stock rom without needing to unlock bootloader.
The 13.0.2 (stable beta) EEA Rom was pulled as far as I know, but the predecessor 13.0.1 has never been available via OTA since then. It will probably only be possible again with the next update to bring a 12.5.5 EEA device to MIUI 13 via OTA.

At least I've read of some cases in a German forum, so I assume that's why it's not updated for you either.
I have the same problem. Got an X3 Pro off Ebay. Came with a Euro charger in the box but ROM shows as MIUI 12.5.5.0 Global version in the settings section on the phone.
Tried to use XiaoMiTool v2 but that detects the ROM as EEA.
So I am stuck not knowing what to do.
I want to stay bootloader locked, for now any way, so I am really frustrated.

EEA/EU versions are also Global ones, but with EU law restrictions and they are named Global as well. Check the underlined part in your phone, does it have EU in it as well?

I've tried with XiaoMiTools v2. It sees as the last possible update for the EEA the 12.5.5.0 update and it's unable to install the MIUI 13 EEA that i've previously downloaded. It doesn't neither allow me to install the global one, asking for the unlock of the bootloader which i'm still waiting.
There are two types of update files. One for the recovery, the other for fastboot. Are you sure you downloaded the right one for the Xiaomi tools?
Here you can download both types for 13.0.1:
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/miui/vayu/
For 13.0.2 I only saw the update for the recovery, but I've only scanned it for some seconds.

Yep, shows RJUEUXM.
BTW, what sort of EU law restrictions are we talking about?
The restrictions refer to Poco/Xiaomi and not to us users. User privacy is protected by EU laws. Well, at least in theory. ;-)
LOL
Many thanks for explaining.
Sounds good, in theory.

You're right, i'm an idiot :'D I've tried to use the recovery one with XiaomiMiTools. I'll try with the fastboot one and i'll update you about if it works.
Thanks!
Am in the UK and have received the 13.0.1 update via OTA about a week ago.
Hmm, have the same problem with my Poco X3 Pro. Bought it as new back then and updated MIUI whenever possible. Now I am stuck at 12.5.5.0 global and cannot update. Even downloading the latest update again (like suggested by Xiaomi support) does not work - it downloads but just doesn't install.
If I try to install that download manually with stock Updater app it says that the downloaded update (which was downloaded by that app itself BTW) cannot be veryfied. So I am completely locked to 12.5.5.0 it seems.
Since I do not want to root the phone nor apply a custom recovery or so - is there any other possibility to finally update to latest MIUI?
You all can't wait to flash even buggier MIUI 13, because... why?! Does Poco give out rewards for having the latest build? For what reason do you NEED it so much?
Personally I'd like to stay uptodate, especially for Android and Security Patches. Being stuck at 12.5.5.0 left me with Android 11 (at least this was shown) and very old security patches. If there es an easy and convenient way to get those updates in w/o hazzling around with root, custom recovery, several tools and PC - I am in, just point me to it.
I finally managed to update. After my 12.5.5.0 was unable to update itself with the last version it downloaded itself (which for me was a clear bug and hence another reason to move on) I downloaded latest official global stable MIUI13 for Poco X3 Pro and installed it with the system updater app. Worked flawlessly.
I have the same problem, but with MIUI 13.0.1.0, clearly there are several new updates for EEA after it, but it doesnt see any OTA, a manual download just installs the same version, and any new official stabel non beta packages it outrigth refuses to install in the manual updater u can unlock in the upodater app.
Oddly for the official stable versions i got off the update tracker from this forum, clearly labelled as non beta, the updater errors tellign me its a version for beta testers so i cannot install it.
Hi all i tried the same since morning and did not want to lose all my business or mobile banking apps ...
The easiest way to upgrade my MIUI was to switch Region from Germany to UK.
I imediatley got the OTA Option for MIUI 13. Maybe later will try to switch to India
So no need for FASTBOOT or wiping your data!

Question Can't update to MIUI 14

Hello. So I'm trying to update my phone from MIUI 13.0.4 to 14.0.1. I click on choose update package and then choose the zip file and this error appears: "Can't flash this stable ROM" Any idea on how to fix this?

I have no idea, but same issue on my wife's X3 Pro. Mine got 13 then 14 through OTA, hers was stuck on 12.5 saying no update. I managed to force 13, but still says no update, and same error message with 14 if I try to manually install it, so if you find the solution, i'm interested please!
Hello. So I've been trying for days to download MIUI 14 but it seems I have no luck. Tried clicking "Download latest package" and this error shows up: "Wait a minute or two and try again". Tried installing from "Choose update package", chose the EU package then "Can't flash this stable ROM", tried the global package and then "Couldn't verify update package. Update via USB instead". So my phone is stuck on 13.0.4.0? I was trying to avoid fastboot but it seems I'm doomed to use it. Anyone have any idea about this?

I have the same, but my EEA model does not want to update past 13.0.1, installing any newer MIUI 13 roms give me the error that its only for Beta testing ( eventhough they are labelled as stable releases not Beta) and the 14 gives the same error yours does.

CHangign region didn't help. But for some reason i found an incremental update file for 13.0.3.0 that was smaller then the full rom, and it does seem to install now.

Yes, I got that incremental update from there. Seems its the only type the updater here accepts as install file. I am on 13.0.3.0 now. Tried the full roms of .4 and 6, and those still give the same error, so I guess if a firmware has no incremental update file on that site, I cant use it.,

The radical solution is to unlock the bootloader, flash the rom you want and relock the bootloader.
Or to use a Xiaomi EU rom.
Having a similar issue. I have the same version and I've downloaded the ZIP file to update to it, but I just receive an error saying invalid path. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Apparently moving it out of downloads seems to have fixed it lol, but I get a can't verify message. I have a feeling you could potentially get round this, since I noticed that even with an update package, it required network access. Perhaps it's phoning home in some way?
