EMUI 12.0.0.218 unable to downgrade to any version. - Huawei P40 Pro Questions & Answers

EMUI 12.0.0.218 unable to downgrade to any version.
My understanding is that I have to downgrade to a version earlier than 11.0.0.260 by OTG/NM
Huawei p40 pro ELS-N29 c432r4
I've tried the OTG methods step by step but with no results. Ive tried 3 different firmloads(even the one specifically mentioned in the post ive linked) but the same message meets me every time when I try to install the software/firmware on the device. “Software install failed” And I can only press restart. Ive used this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...cussion-support.4346741/page-13#post-86122137
and this one
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...cussion-support.4346741/page-14#post-86146187
I've used Hisuite about a year ago and I've tried it this time as well. Hisuite gives me no indication thats something is wrong, and the first and only error occurs on the phone when installing new firmware “Software install failed. restart” the phone says, and im back to square 1. I've tried both firmware 10.x.x.x and also 11.0.0.230. + several tries with random firmware versions.
All the steps are being followed with success - but when it's trying to install on the device it's not working. I've read a bunch of posts and used several days on the matter with no success.
Any help is much appreciated.

You misunderstood the guide.

Read no. 0 here.

Thank you for the response. I am unable to find 11.0.0.260 via https://professorjtj.github.io nor firmfinder.
Ill search around and see what I can find.

See again the link. I just updated with images.

did you got the downgrade?

Sry for the late reply. Yes it did work indeed. Im now at 10.0.21 and Im on the right path. Badmania98 was, as always, right. It can be confusing sometimes to follow these guides on a second/third language. I, as many other, are very grateful.
Note: I did have to try to downgrade to 260 about 30-50 times or so since the original hisuite kept showing "no internet connection" - even after disabling all of firewalls etc. It did time to time load 5% or so. and next time another 5% to 10% and so forth. This process took several hours, but downgrade to 10.0.21 was smooth - I am now at 10.0.21 and rdy to install googlefier
Ill keep u posted if I meet any more difficulties. Thanks again

Is no 10.0.21 firmware on P40 Pro. You want to say 10.1.0.121?

Oh my good, u snpand like a 2 days to try to downgrade until now, before i think im stupid but now i saw not alone with the same problem
Try to do same like you by few % all the time thanks

P. S.

All info I put by screenshot
Thanks you in advance

Yes ofc. And I got it all working fine now - by the help of ur posts/replies in other post on the forum. Thanks a bunch!

My phone is now working perfectly without any issues.
Ive come across alot of common issues but all the answers were found in the forums.
GingerUa: Follow what Badmania98 wrote here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...cussion-support.4346741/page-14#post-86146187
Use this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...cussion-support.4346741/page-13#post-86122137 to downgrade another version before u can use hisuite proxy.
I used this firmware https://androidhost.ru/Z6c?pt=VFVGS...2VUdaVlp6MDlPcWpKQjdRMkhEbnBxTTlrWi9Rc3RzVT0= But its all in the first link(bottom of the post)
So downgrade via original hisuite first.,Then via OTG, then via hisuite proxy.
Then u can innstall googlefier.

It said no internet connection first and never loaded - then I disabled the firewall and different things i come across on the forums, and it loaded 20% or so. I tried again and it said no internet connection 9/10 times. When it worked, it loaded 10% or so and I have to give it another 10 tries to get another 10%.

I do a very bad and big mistake...
Before with big luck I downgrade from 12.0.0. 218 by last v. Hisuite...

First downgrade with last original HiSuite (11.0.0.590) from EMUI12. Is not working with HiSuite Proxy.
You can take a look here for a suggestion. I haven't tried it.

Got a OTA for my ADP1!

Just received update notification (running jf's adp)
I'm running T-mobile G1 with JF's ADP1 1.41 + dev bootloader and before maybe 15 minutes received update notification. The full text is "Holiday phone update 1 of 2: This is bootloader update (0.95.0000). After this update installs, your device will start downloading a full system update." Anyone know what that is? I'm rejecting the update for now but i'm curious.
Its adp's update. No its not cupcake lol
Uh oh, if it's a new bootloader, could this mean trouble for us in the future?
doesn't sound good to me
Just installed the bootloader without the "complete system update" and... surprise. The original T-Mobile G1 bootloader (RGB). After seeing that i downloaded hard spl, then installed it and that's all. I'm not going to complete the full update, because there is a chance after the update to be stuck to normal bootloader, and I don't want to prove it
Good morning!
I was just checking out the market when I got a popup message on my ADP1 (v1.1) telling me a baseband update was available.
I cant remember which version I had before, but it my Baseband version is now:
62.33.20.08H_1.22.12.29
Anyone have the same thing?
Untouchab1e, what was the use of reporting this post? it's only to report Spams, advertisments and other abusing stuff to the Mods and Admins, please use it wisely the next time or you'll get a ban!
yes you called
we came running....please use the report button as it should
thank you
My apologies? I either clicked the wrong button or I dont know, as I cant remember clicking any report button (havent noticed any report button at all really)..
Anyhow, sorry for the trouble
EDIT: A second update is being installed now, described as a "Full system update".. will be interesting to see what it is!
EDIT2: Its apparantly the ADP1 equivalent of the RC33. Latitude, Voice Search.. its all there!
Thank you Google

ADP OTA update = no more Wifi Tethering??
I go ahead and did the update.
I checked the bootloader and it's still the modded one.
although, there's other problem. I can't do wifi tethering from the terminal emulator. I don't know if the OTA update take out Root access or not. is there a way to check root status without using Terminal emulator? (I know on the terminal emulator you just type su for superuser to get root, and # on the prompt means you have root access)
So, When I typed "tether start" after running the .tar file from the terminal emulator, I got this message
Code:
insmod: init_module '/system/lib/modules/wlan.ko' failed (file exists)
then when I typed tether stop, I get this message:
Code:
rmmod: delete_module 'wlan' failed (errno 11)
any info on this probleM? I need the tether function because it is the only internet access for my laptop at home because my cheap ass aunt disconnected the DSL for the house.
please be nice to me as I am a linux noob and has fairly little understanding using the terminal command line.
Edit: Nevermind. I found the problem. I had the Wifi radio on before I run the terminal code for tethering. Sorry for freaking out guys.

I got it too, and I'm not even running a TMobile data plan. It came in over wifi on JF ADP1.1. I did not install it. It's very annoying to say no to the update every time my phone wakes up from screen lock, however.
EDIT: JF's got a new release to fix this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475381 (or check out the top sticky post).
Did it...
... i also got this message and i did the update.
Nothing changend after update. Everthing is the same.
Does this mean, we are all getting ota-updates in the future, even if we are on JF (RC33 or RC8)?
I thought JF deactivated this in his versions...???

Here's the news....
First part of the update was no problem, all still worked..
Second part installed, phone rebooted, got the nice little blinking android and nothing happened for 15 min :S SO i got bored and tried to turn if off but this didnt work, pulled the battery and the same thing happened; phone hangs on bootup..... So its fooked haha, ill update to JF 1.42ADP1.1h, see what happens. I do need to find a way to disable this update stuff 'cuz its annoying!
So BEWARE when using these 'ota' updates on modded firmwares!!
[edit] And no, i do not have anything Tmobile on my phone because Tmobile sux! [/edit]
...same..
after the second update (part 2) my phone got stucked too.
What can I do now?

No, seriously i do have a solution but its not a pretty one...... I wiped my phone completely and had to reinstall the whole lot. Seems to work fine now but i just hope i dont get the freakin annoying update window again because that would seriously piss me off!
I dont know how easy this will be on non-dev phones tho....

It sounds to me like this update was sent by Google only to dev phones. Couldn't you also do a nandroid restore if you made a backup?

Probably..... but setting back the complete backup(s) would not fix anything because you would still get the annoying update window telling you to install the stuff that will in turn crash you phone back to where you started
But then from your old backup you could try to install JF1.42 without wiping, that might work!

The JF1.42 update worked for me without wiping. I haven't been offered the Google update in the last hour.

Really confusing softbrick (small reward offered for fix)

TLDR: LGUP will just straight up not recognize my G5 no matter what. I'll give you five bucks on Paypal for a solution, if that means anything.

Hi guys, I try to avoid posting, but I've searched high and low for an answer and I really can't find it.
I've got a T-Mobile LG G5 H830, that I have recently rooted and installed TWRP on it. Last night, I decided to try changing a value in build.prop, stupidly without making a backup first and after I changed the value and rebooted, stuck at T-Mobile bootscreen, go figure. All I did was change a value from false to true for adoptable storage..
Anyway-- I tried factory resetting, I tried flashing that FLUENCE rom I found somewhere here on XDA, I've tried just about every thing I could, before I gave up and decided it would be easier to just revert back to stock and unroot. I wasn't really utilizing root for more than Titanium Backup anyway.
To the point; I've got the LG UP program installed, I've got the DLL for it installed and inserted, and the appropriate .tot file to flash it back to factory default. No matter what I do, no matter how many different COM ports I try, different drivers I've tried etc, I cannot get it to read my phone in download mode. ADB mode works in TWRP still, but this is driving me insane. The only other phone I have is a busted up BlackBerry Priv, and I want this phone working again asap.
If someone can shed some light on whatever the hell I'm doing wrong, it would mean the world to me.
Please.
P.S: yes I've tried just about every USB port on my computer, and I've tried restarting Windows many times.
you have tried jiggling it?
You know what? Hell, if someone finds me a working solution to my problem, I will personally paypal them five dollars. I just want this fixed. I've had LG G3s brick on me obnoxiously and then never come back from it, I don't know what it is about LG phones.. Samsung phones, Nexus phones, and basically any other Android phones I've worked on aren't nearly this hard to restore and repair.

Use the twrp restore file in the development thread it will revert your build prop back, and from there your phone will work again. Editing build prop is not advised on the H830 has been discussed on numerous threads even before root was established. At least it's only a soft brick .
Have you tried jiggling it perhaps?
so did @wolfu11 get the 5 bucks? his solution should have fixed it.

Not holding my breath lol. That's why I declined any of the root bounty.
Try manually pointing to either the lg drivers, or adb drivers had that same problem when trying to root H830.
Sent from my LG-H830 using XDA-Developers mobile app
IDK if u fixed it or not, but i have a simular issue where LGUP does not recognize my phone. i'm guessing it could be the buildprop could have broken it. i have factory reset my phone, but upon turning on wifi, the phone crashes and i need to factory reset. i am rooted and retain root. My guess is that changing the buildprop causes the phone to be unrecognized. I did backup my buildprop but its stuck in an encrypted backup. Thanks alot gooogle...
Same problem here
I am having the same problem but I never touched my build prop. I rooted and decided to install cm14. When i flashed, none of my partitions are mounting and phone would not boot. I put stock back on and flashed tot and tried mounting partitions and nothing. Now computer doesn't recognize it as well as it will not boot into recovery or android.
I have seen this and I think I fixed it by disabling one of the two, in device manager. 1st listed, iirc.

Please help, Samsung A11 - TRWP problem

Hi everyone,
Recently I purchased and Samsung A11. I wanted to root it and unlocked the bootloader first. Than I used Odin to install TRWP recovery. Odin showed "PASS" and I was supposed to press certain buttons which didn't work. Phone kept coming back to "Download Mode" although I pressed those buttons. So I was stuck. The only option was to cancel the download mode, so I pressed volume down + power button for more than 7 seconds. That was the end Now the phone turns on until I see the Samsung logo, there's a small vibration but it can't go forward. It resets back and now stuck in a loop. None of the buttons work including Volume Down+Power combination. Don't know what I am supposed to do now. Can anybody help?
Thanks...
1. Add Samsung A11 to this thread's title thus mainly owners of such a phone get addressed
2. My recommendation: Re-flash STOCK ROM to get rid off of all mods you applied.

As I can see you are proud owner of a softbricked phone.
Take it to authorized service center and let them fix it.

it wouldn't ... usually the cause of bootloop is certain corrupted partition and as long as that partition is corrupted it would keep bootlooping.
if you doesn't know what your doing your best bet is Take it to authorized service center and let them fix it. like what @jwoubeir said
I don't have the A11 model but have used this on other A models that were in the same loop.
Press the volume up and down at the sametime and plug in the usb cable.
This has to be done within a second or two after it vibrates and before it reboots and will likely take a few tries. Good Luck

great tip work on ADB too anyway OP is provably using sp flashtool since his phone is samsung so this method would be rather tricky
Yayy, I managed to get into the "Download mode" doing exactly how @sammiev told and I tried flashing another TRWP file thinking that might have caused the problem but nothing has changed. Same loop again ! So I flashed the original ROM back using Odin and it's back live again Thanks for the help guys. But to be honest, I am still curious. What might be the problem in not getting TRWP flashing going right?

Used that method of a few peoples Samsung phones. Worked for me every time. It's just to get the timing right.
Sure you have the correct TWRP?

The version I used is "twrp-3.5.0_10-3_afaneh92-a11q.tar"
I also tried rooting with Magisk without the need of TRWP installation. That was also unsuccesfull. Odin was PASS but I got bootloader screen saying Secure Check Fail : vbmeta
Here's the screenshot of Magisk fail in "Download Mode"
Can't figure out what's wrong ...
Have you flashed the latest stock rom to this device?
Was there other TWRP files for this model?
Is other people having trouble with this model?
I never worked on A11 Samsung yet
I would hate to give you bad info and have you brick your phone.

Following your advice, I managed to get into the Download Mode and I flashed the original rom. So phone is up and running now but not rooted. So I've been trying to root again first with Magisk to bypass the need of TRWP installation and with others which need TRWP installation first. There seems to be something blocking the flashing of anything other than the original rom !! On the link I shared above, there are other (older version) TRWP files. Shall I try them?

Following your advice, I managed to get into the Download Mode and I flashed the original rom. So phone is up and running now but not rooted. So I've been trying to root again first with Magisk to bypass the need of TRWP installation and with others which need TRWP installation first. Usually the latest TWRP with the latest firmware.
Check my profile, your KG stated is ****ed. There is nothing you can do about it, there is abosulutly no way to fix this without unsoldering the eMMC and resetting it entirely. Some people on 4PDA had the same problem and found no fix. I was hopping to develop a custom rom but I cant as my kg state is prenormal. This mexican dude on youtube fixes devices with KG and FRP issues, but yeah this aint something that you can do at home. At least I learned not to buy any samsung devices in the future https://www.youtube.com/c/TeamOcmineMMCBootRepair
edit: nvm your oem is unlocked, you can just flash the vbmeta reset script via odia and everything should flash fine.

So what can i do to update the tablet? thanks
You probably have a "Chinese" version disguised as a global version. The hardware is the same, but there is a difference. You should take a look here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/check-region-unlock-p11-tb-j606f-l-n.4356451/
Or if you've unlocked the bootloader or become a superuser, you won't wait for updates.
Your firmware version is not here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/lenovo/Tab_P11_Pro/TB-J706F/ that means something is wrong

Yes i bought it on AliExpress so probably its what you say, a chinese version... Also im not superuser
So should i follow the first link you put or mine will never update?
Yes, it seems to be your case. I checked my region by this method and I have 2 and have no problems with updates.

I have an update of my problem... its fixed! but not with the method you shared(i tried it, but its not working for P11 Pro, at least on mine i dont have that hexa numbers). I used the official lenovo app for PC(yes, that app i said didnt worked), i tried it again and worked and now its on Android 11.
Well before of trying again the app i changed my country code from the settings of the tablet, on search i wrote ####6030# and i put my country(in my case Spain). I dont really know if this country change has some impact on the equation but... it worked
Well, if anybody its on the situation the tablet never update, do it with the PC app. If it fail try lot of times, one of them probably will work.
Just updated to the latest ROW firmware - TB-J706F_S620108_211124_ROW.zip (global rom) using LMSA. Just be careful in flashing the tablet. This will wipe out all data in your tablet and will start with a clean slate (choose language, connect to network etc). Also, make sure that you have the updated qualcomm USB drivers in windows else the flashing will fail or possibly brick your tablet.

How did you use LMSA? Can you explain?
I have a P11 pro on TB-J706F_S620022_210910_ROW and I cannot upgrade to the latest firmware...no matter what I do...
thanks

In the LMSA menu, make sure that the tablet is detected and then go to rescue option. Just input the series/model of the tablet and the app will find the correct firmware to download. It is about 2.8GB after which it will proceed with the flashing.
I have an issue trying to flash with LMSA, it tells me it fails every time I try.

What is the error? Did you install the USB qualcomm driver? Also, there is a step by step flashing instruction guide like disconnecting the USB first, turn off the tablet and then reconnect USB simultaneously pressing one of the buttons ( if I recall it is the vol+ button). Did the LMSA app issue such instructions?
BTW, I used power-off rescue mode. Check it out in this link...https://support.lenovo.com/ph/en/solutions/ht102605-how-to-use-rescue-and-smart-assistant-lenovo-moto-smart-assistant-smart-device-with-android-system

Power of rescue mode I all I usually use. On my old computer and my old Lenovo tablet it just worked. Maybe I installed that driver on my old computer and forgot I did. We got a new PC for Christmas with windows 11. I can't remember the error, I will try it again.
Currently I am on an Android 12 GSI that is working fine along with finger print, the only annoying thing is auto rotate doesn't work properly but I download and app that I can switch manually so I will just stick with this and hope for an update. Rotation seems to be an issue on this tablet with Android 12 GSI builds.

I'm also running a Android 12 GSI on my P11 Pro. I just followed this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/install-gsi-rom-xiaoxin-pad-pro-2021-tb-j716f.4348249/ as a general guide.

How did the flash fail? What error messages were you getting? I'll try my best to help you. Also, what are you rooting for? I am rooted, so I know the benefits, but why not just flash a custom ROM and root it?

Hi
Thanks again.to be honest I am also take the benefits of apps which only work on rooted and also using to spoof location for games an sp on .I am using rooted phones fir years but I am mot a developer. About the error I didn't realise if it cime with an error the thing is as I heard from someone else after upgrading to android 13 it is prevented to change boot.img , not 100% sure but it looks like correct as I am unable to flash rom, recovery and so on always fail.there was a website showing how to root A51 android 11 DUBI using vbmeta.img but as I said cannot downgrade to official android 11 as its prevented when it is on newer boot.img.
For flashing TWRP error always says can't use unofficial twrp, even pached not working .this is the whole story I will appreciate if anyone can find a solution.
Thanks again

Also, you don't have to flash TWRP, you can keep the stock recovery.

Alright, all you have to do is follow the official instructions. Let's do it!
Before you start:
This tutorial assumes you understand how to use adb and fastboot
If you plan to also install custom kernels, install it after Magisk
Your device’s bootloader has to be unlocked
Next, do this:
Download and install the latest Magisk app. In the home screen, you should see:

Don't worry about TWRP, if you're trying to root your phone you do not need it.

Sorry for the late reply! When I researched the error it sounds like the only way to fix the problem is to re-flash the stock ROM and then retry rooting it. At least it's not bricked! To re-flash it I recommend following this tutorial. It has worked for me in the past when I needed to re-flash my device. Let me know if you have any questions!
