Hi. I have a P40 PRO with GMS. I can´t use google backup. Is there a way to fix this? Or is there any app that makes the same, i.e., backup all the content of the phone, like sms, mms, definitions, wifi passwords, etc. (excluding huawei cloud, because I think that the content can´t be restored later to a non-huawei phone).
Thank you

Yes. I know that one. But that is not automatic. We have to remember to do it from time to time. I was searching for something automatic

You have a SD card slot, use it as a data drive!
Then redundantly back that up.
With quality apps that allow you to create backup files do so. All critical data and everything you need to do a full reload goes here.
Do Not name the DCIM folder on the backup drive DCIM, rename it to something different like master pic.
Cloud backups can fail you miserably unless you have the competence to set a custom one correctly.

It also has OTG support, a 512tb flashstick goes for under $60.
I use both on my N10+ as well as multiple hdds for backup.

It is a real pain to try and repair... it's a dependency of Google play Services for one.
Lol, when you have hundreds of gbs of data even -if- it does work, who has the time?
You can't inspect or edit the saved data either.

N.B. Try this at your own risk. No one will be responsible with anything right or wrong you do.
Everyone is searching for a way to install apps on External micro SD Card, but as of Android 4.1.2 of the Galaxy Core, this option is unavailable.
Apps like AppMgr III, ext2sd, etc nothing works.
But here, I’m gonna show you a way to do this easily. But this method needs your phone to be rooted.
Search the forum to find Farmaroot to root your phone.
This method will make your phone thinks that its using the sdcard0,
but there will be a fake door which will led all app data to be on extSdCard.
Required Apps:
Lucky Patcher
Steps:
Download and install Lucky Patcher 3.9.3 (developers' website)
(optional) (do this if you want to move your existing app data and obb too) Copy/move the existing “sdcard0/Android/” folder to “extSdCard/Android/”.
If you don’t copy/move your existing apps might not work.
I recommend to move as existing apps will take up some extra card space.
Create a folder named “Android” on extSdCard if you skipped 2, or the folder is missing.
Open Lucky Patcher and click on the “Toolbox” button on the bottom.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Touch the “Directory Binder” option.
Select “Add new directory bind”.
On the first typer, browse to the “Android” folder on extSdCard; and on the second typer, browse to the “Android” folder on sdcard0.
Confirm with “Bind Directory”.
Now, all your existing apps’ data will be on extSdCard. And in future any apps which will be installed, will be installed on extSdCard too.
P.S.: You need internal storage space to install the APKs. This method will only give access to the app data to be on the extSdCard.
Thanks to ChelpuS for his amazing app.

I use folder mount.
What I love about this tut, is that, whenever you install apps, it automatically mount the apps from extsdcard.
Unlike foldermount or apps2sd, everytime you install new apps, you need to manually mount them.

But its ok, I have all my apps backed up with TB.
Maybe I'll try folder mount instead.

I'm cleaning up my phone, PHOTOS only shows photos stored on the phone, it doesn't include photos on the SD card.
So I downloaded the SD card photos via Airdroid FILES and now want to delete them
If I right click on EXTERNAL SD CARD, I'm given the delete option, but if I dive into any subdirectories, all delete options are greyed out whether it's right click on directory or file, or select and click the trash can.
Any ideas? This is a Note 3 running Android 4.3

If AirDroid doesn't have the permission to delete files on your external sd card, the delete option will be greyed out. Or would you please give it a try on the phone: AirDroid--->Tools--->Files. Try deleting one photo there just to check if AirDroid has the permission. Thank you in advance
I think you're on to something. Using AirDroid on the phone itself, I attempted to delete a file from the SD card. The delete option was there, it said the delete was successful, but nothing was actually deleted.
What might prevent this from working?

Would Smart Switch help me back and restore everything from a cracked S7 to my replacement S7??
No smart switch doesn't backup app data.
Only a Nandroid backup using TWRP custom recovery can do a true full backup
It backup my app data
So there is no such option? I am also interested but without titanium?
Only way to do a FULL backup is a nandroid backup. If you have TWRP installed do it through that.

The last few days I used smart switch a few times, also made encrypted backups and it does not backup app data!
It only backs up launcher setups and some settings.

Yes, the last time I used it to backup it backed up everything even the app data
Re: backup and transfer data
If you mean that transfer data from Android to Android, then you can try the FORecovery Phone transfer, which can help you backup and restore all of your data between different Android devices, including app data. BTW, you need to boot your phone before transfer. However, if you want to transfer the data from iPhone to Android, I afraid that you can only transfer the basic data except for app data.

Hi everybody,
I switched to Swift Backup from Titanium Backup, and I got lost in the labyrinth of Swift's interface. I took a backup of all my apps, then a nandroid backup with TWRP and then I switched to a different rom.
In this operation, I forgot to back up Swift's password (I wish it could be disabled), so now I'm wondering: is there a way to recover the password for Swift from the nandroid backup? Can it be found in /data/data for example?
How do I change the backup location on this Swift app ?
How do I pick a specific folder ?

A terrible directive for an advanced app. They certainly won't see my money
I'm on the Pixel 7 Pro and finally had the occasion of needing to restore my wallpaper; and it confirmed what I had feared when initially looking at it from the app -- while it was the correct picture/image, it ended up being off-center and zoomed without being able to correct it.
Anyone else having this issue? Know of a workaround or explanation?

The explanation is simple: backup apps are unreliable. They only have different limitations. Swift is no exception, as I'm finding many.
This is how you may investigate:
[Root]/data/system/users/0/wallpaper_info.xml
This file carries the wallpaper settings.
I would compare this file before and after customizing the wallpaper to memorize the differences.
Then I would back it up and immediately restore it using Swift
If there is a difference between before and after the backup, you found the cause.
Since I grew tired of relying on these backup apps, I make manual copies of these files you will see around these folders, the folders beying /data/system/, and /data/system/users/0

Besides the inability to specify the backup dir, I found another problem: Swift encrypts everything.
On titanium, one can extract the app and the data from the ZIPs. Here, I can't.
Moreover, by using apps like Solid Explorer I can make a copy of other apps, with it's clear name, icon, and ready to install (and on a more organized manner).
The only advantage over Titanium is the backup of permissions, but being that the only one, I'd remove the "best app to backup" from the title of this thread.

Not sure how it is on your phone, in the gallery app on my phone, there is a 'Recently deleted' folder. From here, we can recover photos that were accidentally deleted within 30 days. I will upload a screenshot about this later.

I suggest you search something about it on this forum because I haven't been hiding root for a very long time now. I think Magisk can help with that.
When files are wiped / deleted, the corresponding entry in the MFT ( the Master File Table is where a file's name and the chain of allocation units assigned to the file are stored ) is marked as re-useable, though the wiped / deleted files may still be physically present if the freed space has not been overwritten in the meantime.
IMO a forensic software is needed to extract physical content of the wiped / deleted files, will say to do a bitwise copy of this freed storage space Android's dd command typically is used what requires relevant Android's directories are mounted as RW what requires Android is rooted before.
Rooting Android is nothing else than to add su binary to Android's filesystem, preferredably to /data/local/tmp directory, what can get achieved via ADB.
