Hey everyone. I just recently switched back to OOS from being on custom ROMs for several months, and one noticeable downgrade is that the microphone quality on OOS is god awful compared to custom ROMs.
I'm rooted right now and can flash twrp if necessary, is there any flashable zip, mod or magisk module to improve the mic quality to custom ROM level?

I have a Note 2 (N7105) and have installed LineageOS but am having terrible problems with it - audio too quiet, camera crashing etc... And am wanting to go back to my stock rom. I'm planning on using TWRP to flash the stock rom and for rooting use the su file provided by LineageOS along with the supersu app.
Would this be okay?
Hey OP6 users
i thought of something. that might have been obvious for some people but maybe not for everyone.
when doing a clean flash for a custom ROM it is often needed that we flash a required base. Either OOS stable or a OOS beta version.. which ever is needed by the custom ROM.
we don't need to flash the base again when we're just updating the custom ROM (unless the custom ROM needs a newer version of the base
knowing that, is it still needed to flash the base when changing to a custom ROM that needs the exact same base?
correct me if I'm wrong, but it would save some time for us to not have to flash the same required base for another custom ROM which needs the same one we previously flashed.
it would save: two OOS + TWRP flashes every time and two TWRP reboots, which would be pretty nice?
it would also be nice to save that time if we just wanted to re flash the current ROM I/you/we were using for any reason.
then a clean flash of a current custom ROM in use or changing to another ROM with the requirement of the same base would just be as simple/fast as
Format Data !!!!(optiona)!!!!
Flash Custom ROM + TWRP.zip
Reboot TWRP
Flash Custom ROM + TWRP.zip
Reboot TWRP
Flash GApps.zip + Magisk
Reboot System
In general you don't have to flash the base ROM again to change your custom ROM. Even if one base is 9.0.3 and the other is 9.0.4 it is normally not necessary. The base Rom is foremost used for it's vendor (and other partitions) which are not touched by Custom Roms.
But you have to pay attention to your security patch level before you switch between ROMs.
And of course (strongly recommended) to wipe cache, data and system before switching to another ROM (a complete format is only needed uf you are rolling back to an earlier security patch level)
At least this is my experience and (little) knowledge about how android etc works.
Allthough, If you run into problems, rebasing your phone is always a good option. Helped me out a few times.
How much time do you think you are wasting out of your life when you have to flash a base file (give me seconds and % of HP)? ROFL...?
If I am flashing a new ROM, usually I clean flash, test the ROM... IF I LIKE --> clean flash again, and set it up proper.
Feels good coming fresh out of the box, knowing everything is working optimized.
Anways, with xXx.NoLimits and how smooth OOS is, personally I don't really see any point on flashing custom ROMs anyways anymore.

Aight yeah it thougt so. Ofc I wipe data before flashing a new rom. But thanks for your input/confirmation feels good to have other opinions and experiences then there's also the fact you also have to wait until your rom supports the new base, so u don't flash a new base then switch to your custom Rom and stuff won't work correctly hehe
@castrum_doloris
or anyone else here on the forum
now that our oneplus 6 got an official update i want to ask something. is this okey/safe to do
currently having omnirom installed in both slots and to update base could this work? or will it give problems
1 have custom rom installed with 9.0.4 base
2 flash oxygenos (9.0.5) x2
3 flash custom rom x2
4 reboot twrp
5 flash gapps + magisk
6 reboot system
if i flash oxygenos over omnirom just to update the base and never reboot system to oxygenos will this still give me problems with data? or is it a safe way to update the base ? or is the only way to go to do factory reset?

Don't do it.
First, it is unneccessary (and useless) and second the security patch of 9.0.5 is too old compared to omni. Even if you don't boot into OOS System your whole storage won't get decrypted anymore (so you have to format your complete internal storage)
You have to get away a bit from this thought of the "Rom base". If you install a custom rom, you install a completely new system. The need of installing OOS "as a base" is mainly the vendor (and some other) partitions. And as long as these don't get updated/changed, your exact "base rom" is irrelevant.
9.0.5 doesn't have any significant changes. And these few changes are only relevant for the system itself (which would get deleted by installing a custom rom)

Hi I am Rupesh from India and I have redmi note 4 ie., mido smartphone with 64 GB ROM, 4 GB RAM and it is working properly. I love to use custom ROM's like AOKP, resurrection remix etc.,. Most of the time I love to listen music on my phone and so I want sound enhancers like Dolby atmos, Dolby digital plus, viper, Dirac etc.,.
From the past one year I am using my smart phone by flashing AOKP custom ROM with android version 7.0 ie., naught. I also flashed arise sound mod by selecting all of the above previously mentioned sound enhancers while installation. At present my smart phone is working properly without any errors and also sound quality is good.
I have tried to flash a lot of other custom ROM's like lineage os, resurrection remix, Aokp, fire hound etc.,. After flashing these ROMs some worked fine and some others failed in detecting sim card itself. For those ROM's which worked fine I have flashed arise sound mod by selecting all of the above previously mentioned sound enhancers. After rebooting I got errors such as "arkamys stopped working mute the device until restart", "am3d stopped working mute the device until restart " etc.,.
I have flashed the same zip file called old_arise.zip for all these custom ROM's by following the same procedure but none of these ROMs are working as good as AOKP CUSTOM ROM with android version naught.
Upto now I have examined a number of custom ROM's but I am attracted to AOKP custom ROM. At present AOKP team has released new ROM for my phone with android version Oreo and so I want to try this ROM in combination with arise sound mod.
In some website someone suggested to root the phone and after that flash magisk and after that flash magisk compatibility module and finally flash arise sound mod by selecting the option magisk compatibility to true. I have followed the above procedure and at first I have flashed AOKP custom ROM and after that flashed gapps 8.1 nano package and after booting everything worked fine. After that I have flashed magisk in twrp recovery manager and after that I have tried to flash magisk compatibility module and in this stage I got error as "magisk not found". I have flashed magisk package again and after that flashed magisk compatibility module and again I got error as "magisk not found".
May I know which is the latest best custom ROM which works properly with arise sound mod.
I am also requesting the people who have redmi note 4 I mean mido phone to flash latest AOKP custom ROM with arise sound mod. If you succeed please suggest how to flash AOKP custom ROM with arise sound mod.
Regards,
Rupesh.

Hi guys,
I have installed miui EU rom in my REDMI NOTE 7 PRO long time ago. But I am not fully satisfied with it. That's why I want to install stock ROM again.
I have found these bugs till now:
1. Low Earpiece sound
2. No Custom watermark in the camera app.
3. Microphone problem while calling.
4. Themes are not fully working with MIUI 11.
5. It doesn't upgrade to ANDROID 10 till now.
I will be grateful if you please provide me with a better solution.
Thanks.
You can flash stock rom recovery zip file or flash via fastboot with miflash.
First one is better and faster.

To get back to stock,
Wipe all partitions, download the fastboot ROM, flash the latest MIUI (according to region) through MiFlash.

(EDIT - I joined the Evolution X telegram group and got answers for most of my questions. Thread CLOSED
Hello. There are so many guides and so much information on here (XDA) that I can't make heads or tails of it all. I have been tried installing OOS 10.3.3 with TWRP and with Fastboot but I keep having problems after the installation. I have heaps of questions I am unable to find answers to.
List of questions
1. I have a partition called Vendor in TWRP, what is it? (Unsolved but not important)
2. In TWRP, if i wipe all the standard partitions (DALVIK, SYSTEM, DATA, INTERNAL STORAGE) on both slots it results in a loss of TWRP and I can only access Fastboot and I am then unable to flash TWRP from Fastboot. I must then Fastboot flash OOS to restore the phone. Why does this happen? (UNSOLVED but not an issue. See below)
3. What is the correct procedure for flashing OOS 10.3.3 to both slots? (SOLVED - Reboot to TWRP. Flash latest OOS ROM and TWRP Installer, reboot. Flash latest OOS ROM and TWRP Installer, reboot to system OR reboot to TWRP and flash custom ROM and TWRP Installer. Reboot to system. ((The second install fixes unused slot)))
4. Do any of the custom Kernels help improve battery life? Idle battery drain in OOS 10.3.3 is quite strong, nearly 1% per hour. (I have a 1+3 that uses less battery)(SOLVED Evolution X has much better battery life compared to OOS)
5. Is the camera quality in custom ROMS, as good as the OOS ROM camera? It's gcam an adequate replacement? (SOLVED gcam works well)
I am super confused. Everything used to be so easy before this A/B Slot stuff. Please help me and excuse my ignorance if the answers have been staring me in the face, I can not see them. Thanks in advance to you who reads this and is willing to help.
