When I try to edit comments on youtube, specifically if I select a whole word, the keyboard takes up most of the screen.
I don't have another android device to test but I'm like 99% sure this isn't normal behavior. This ONLY happens on the youtube app. It's been happening as long as I can remember. I have a one plus 7 pro on android 11.

I'm trying to sync my files back and forth between phone and computer.. but the skydrive apps are completely pissing me off. i'm using google chrome with adblock and popup blocker disabled on the domain. Trying to edit a word document and the cursor rarely appears, and occasionally it will let me type one letter.
I tried using IE9 assuming it would obviously work. And it does. But even still it's buggy.. when I try to cut a word, it tells me IE has stopped working and reboots the page.
So what the hell? Why so buggy and why does it hardly work at all on Chrome? Anyone else having these issues?
If you want things to work you will have to use IE 9. Microsoft and Google don't exactly get along so it's not surprise Chrome struggles with skydrive. I know with Firefox skydrive will disable features like drag and drop which makes it difficult to use.
I don't have the crashing problems you do but there should be some event in the event viewer showing what caused it to crash. If I had to guess I would suspect the usual stuff like old addons or an antivirus software. IE 9 is also GPU accelerated so make sure you have your video drivers up to date.
thanks. everything should be up to date on all ends. also dragging didn't work on IE9 either.
also with chrome I can only view my document if I go to edit document from the 'my files' view. If I go to recent and simply click on it, it'll give me an error and won't even let me open.
You may get better advice somewhere else - this is a Windows Phone forum.
Hi,
I'm reading everywhere that Chrome for Android explicitly does not support Adobe flash. I need some clarification on what exactly this means? Please spare me the speal about how Adobe isn't supporting it anymore bla bla bla, I know this already.
What i would like to know is... is HTML5 supported now? The reason i ask this is cause I've been trying to make patches and fixes for this (mainly for my self) and i have managed to get the latest chrome to play embedded YouTube clips in the chrome browser and will seamless play and let me zoom in on full desktop mode of a website. I.E if I visit the xda main page i can view the content of the xda TV side bar in full desktop mode.
Is this because of HTML5 support or is this because one of my fixes has worked?
I don't want to make an arse of my self posting up a thread saying I've fixed it when this is native support and nothing new lol. Also i don't want to uninstall and start clean because if it's not normal and what i have done has worked.... cause I'm not sure which thing actually is the resolution? I've taken a back up and I can wipe and then just come back again but with the new SGS3 it takes a stupidly long amount of time to do a restoration. I've done work in system and in data partitions also so advanced restore is out of the question... plus it's likely easier for someone to post a simple reply "no you're a dip **** James YouTube was always capable of playing on chrome" or "heck dude you're on to something hurry up and find an answer and post your work up here"
I'm hoping it's the latter.
Ps. I thought I might also want to add here that I do not have Adobe flash player installed on my phone. Hence why I am specifically asking about HTML5 support? Yes I've used components of the plugins them selves but that may or may not be the reason for being able to view this content.
Pps. On previous versions of my hacked chrome i got a message on *some* websites that the plugin is detected but out of date. I don't get the standard message "Google Chrome does not support this plugin" like most users get. This is some sites only
What, no one?
Sooo many people are quick to jump down peoples necks about this subject sounding like experts roasting n00bs to use the search button, I've searched every single thread and my question has not been asked... so does this mean I'm on to something?
Can someone who has chrome who doesn't have Adobe flash apk installed (back it up and uninstall) and visit the xdadevelopers front page and see if YouTube works?
Screw it... no one is helpful here, I'll uninstall all my stuff and test my self.

Not sure exactly what you are wanting tested, but here goes. I'm running an LG 4X HD without the Flash .apk installed. If I go to the XDA main page I can then click on the "XDA TV Most Recent Video" and it goes to full-screen and plays, but that seems to be the YouTube player intself.
Have a look at this page - http://www.w3.org/2010/05/video/mediaevents.html - it works just fine as HTML5 within Chrome on my LG
Also worth looking at the HTML5Test site. Scroed out of 500, my laptop with Chrome scores 448 + 13 bonus points, my phone with Chrome score 390 + 11 bonus points, Dolphin on my phone scores 287 + 3 bonus points and IE10 running on Windows 8 on my laptop scores 320 + 6 bonus points. This site is the ideal test platform as it gives you a precise breakdown on exactly what the points are scored on and where the fails are, so if you are trying to do your own development work you can see almost instantly what effect the changes you make have had.
Thanks. That's exactly what i wanted. But that is what i also did last night. It did say on the chrome web site that it would be supporting HTML5 in the future.
I had been working on a flash solution on the previous versions on chrome up until now. Then to see that YouTube was working correctly (along with several forum posts stating that chrome doesn't support flash) that it would be difficult for me to wipe what i had been working on just to see if this was a standard feature or not? I ended up not getting a response and did it anyway.
That being said i have got very close with Chrome loading the plugin for flash and executing the flash video, so I'll revert everything back now and keep working on it.
Ps. No the YouTube clip doesn't play in full screen, it plays an embedded clip on the site in desktop mode (sorry about the confusion there) and yes i know this is a standard feature of HTML5 now that I've investigated further.
I'm updated to 4.2.1 on my N7 (factory, no root/rom) and with books like the Nexus 7 Manual, I've selected the blue pin icon and downloaded the books to the devices memory for offline reading. Or so it seems...
When I go to open the book and resume my reading it takes a good 5-7 seconds for it to open and sits at a 'Loading' screen. Also, if I'm in the book and decide to swipe back a few pages quickly, or forward, I see that loading screen again. Basically it seems like it's not actually downloaded but rather coming through the cloud. I've tried this with a few books and they all appear to be downloaded but open quite slow.
Am I missing something or does it normally take a while to open books as well as browse through them?
Noticing the same thing on my N7. I don't have a big sample, but in my case it's a particularly larger book (ESV Bible). Jumping around or flipping several pages rapidly results in long waits for text to appear. I first thought the downloaded text or some search index was corrupt, so I blew away all app data and tried again. The problem persists.
This could just be a general problem with the tablet. See if anyone else has the same problem or let Google know

In certain text boxes in the browser I'm experiencing a really annoying issue, basically when I type a bunch of stuff in then make a mistake and start using the backspace key to erase, stuff that I perviously typed comes up in place of stuff I erased. It happens even now that I'm typing here. What's up with this issue? Any way to fix? I noticed it happens more often when I use swype typing. Stock keyboard on stock Xperia Z3.
I still have this issue on Lollipop, wtf...
Ive had that issue since Kit Kat.
Try another browser, I had that issue before. I prefer the stock browser so I installed AOSP Browser installer from the play store, then installed the kk browser. No issues with it for me now. I hope this helps.
Trying another browser or another keyboard isn't really a fix. I like to use the Sony keyboard because it allows me to type in english and italian without having to manually switch language every time. It also seems to be more precise with the swype compared to Google or Swiftkey, and it has better handling of custom words. Also I like to use Chrome because it's fast, smooth and "just works", like someone used to say.
I made a few posts about it on the Sony forums, because it only happens with the stock keyboard, hopefully they will listen.
Here's also a video I made to show the bug recorded by me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZhG8rqpw1w
I turned off the auto correct. Seemed to work.
Interestingly enough, I noticed this with google voice typing. Invariably it would accurately type for me, but put everything in twice. Craptastically ridiculous to have to erase what you actually wanted typed because the stupid ap would double it up. I have since removed as best I can the blue google ap, don't use google+ at all and I tell the xperia kb to not guess squat for me. The actual term 'smartphone' I truly believe to be as misleading as one could possibly be without calling yourself a liar.
So, has anyone found a fix for this issue? I feel like I'm pretty much the only one so I wonder how is it possible that such a terrible glitch ON STOCK APPS is basically unnoticed.
I used to get this when using remote apps like Unified Remote and typing into the HTPC. Whenever it tried to predict it would go all screwy.
I haven't noticed it in my z3 but I use Swiftkey.
Its a problem with browser, web site, keyboard... Not sony it self...
I do occur this problem but very rarely, because some website uses technology which is not so optimize for smartphones to decode them, or certain browser.
Hi,
On my S22 Ultra when I am using either Chrome or Opera and click on a web link that contains a pdf the phone will:
Automatically open the PDF in the browser
Proceed to lag for 30 seconds
Tell me the app (either Chrome or Opera) is not responding
Fix itself and go on as if nothing happened
My question is:
How do I restore the question prompt "Would like to: Download, Open the file"
I would like to download the files and look at them with the Adobe Acrobat Reader
This is horrible. I specifically purchased this phone for work and I often need to look up equipment specifications from their respective manufacturer's websites.
So every time now I need to look at a PDF its a whole ordeal.
Please help!
Thanks

Thanks for the reply!
I have Adobe installed and have Installed / Uninstalled it a few times to try and maybe trigger a change in the behavior, to no avail.
Unfortunately default apps doesn't seem to be the issue I am having.
I will try to describe the problem more clearly:
Lets say I go to a website that sells electronic equipment.
I find the specific equipment I am interested in.
Click on "PDF Specifications sheet"
My Opera or Chrome browsers proceed to immediately open the PDF file in a tab.
That renders the browser unusable for about 30 seconds while its trying to load the PDF basically bricking my phone because I have to wait for the PDF to load to be able to navigate to "Download PDF" so I can later view it in my adobe app.
(don't know what the behavior is with the samsung browser since I am not interested in using it)
I understand the issue. The article covers what to do, look towards the 2nd part of the article

Apologize, was on a work call so I forgot to mention I followed the default app steps a few times.
I reset all default app settings.
So it doesn't seem to be a default app issue.
The android system does not seem to notice the opening of the PDF file inside the browsers at all.
That leads me to believe this is a browser problem, so I tried finding settings in the browsers themselves, but could not.
I posted a "How to disable the built in PDF view in Opera" question in the Opera Android forums, but nobody has answered for the last 2 days.
This is very frustrating since I believe I can't be the only person with this issue, but I can't find a single trace of info on it on the internet.
Thanks!
I only use Chrome and never had this issue, it always asks what i want to open a PDF with.
Maybe cause I never checked the "use this as default" thing since I use a couple of different methods depending.
Try with Better Open With app to control the default action(s)
