Charging at faster speeds using thunderbolt 3 port - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Guys, I've been using a one plus 7 pro since 2 years. During these days I've noticed something, when I charge my phone using the red usb cable by connecting to laptop it shows about 1250mA speed. Which is slow. But, when I do the same using a type C cable by connecting to thunderbolt 3 port on laptop, it's speed is around 1900mA, much higher..!
Now, we all know a thunderbolt 3 port is capable of providing as high as 100W charging speed. Our one plus 7 pro wall charger only gives 30w at peak charging speed.
Hope everyone understand where I'm heading!
Why can't we get the max charging speed(in my case 30w aka 6000mA) with this setup ??
Is it that, one plus device is failing to recognize that thunderbolt 3 it's connected to is able to supply required power ?
Or is it because the cable I'm using , inorder to achieve this insane speeds, has to be a thunderbolt 3 compatible one?(which in my case, isn't)
Please share your knowledge, do let us know if someone found a way out to make it possible. If yes, that would mean I can completely stay away from that heavy brick for charging..

[Q] Laptop doesn't charge tablet

My laptop recognizes my GT-P6210, and has even before downloading Kies but it won't charge the device.
I downloaded the Kies drivers here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/GT-P6210MAYXAR#content2
It appears that the above is the only drivers...that I could find at least. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Does the laptop just not charge the device?
Thanks
Computers cannot charge the G tab, unless you have a charging cable or an adapter. They can be obtained from eBay.

i think it might charge, just really slowly
No it definitely does not charge, since a little red X appears on the battery when I connect it.
Thank you both!

wrong.. it charges but super slow.
try esata/usb port
On my laptop it does charge very slowly. For best results lock the screen and use the esata/usb combo port if you've got one. Seems to produce more power
It's normal that a PC or a Notebook can't charge a tab unless u have special usb-port that has a higher output.

I have higher output USB ports but it's still just a trickle charge on the tablet. My cell phone charges fast using the same ports.
Usually cell phones have 1000-2000 mAh. The Samsung Galaxy tab 7.0 plus is 4000 mAh. It charges, but a a very, very low pace. The greater the battery, the longer it takes. And on top of that, the system is always draining the battery, even when the screen is off, and with more demanding processors, the greater the consumption. Just think of the new Ipad, there are already reviews that advise that charging it through usb port is not practical at all. Please, I'm not starting a flame here, just pointing out that fact. In fact, very likely the Android tablet will follow the same path, given that the future is quad-core and even more cores. May be this will be solved with usb 3 that promises greater voltage (or amps, I'm not sure).
I use USB 3.0 ports for charging, tablet is a trickle charge, phone charges fast.
actually it is charging, the x symbol/logo just to remind you that charging using usb is not effective and very slow.
Yeah. Mine too. It shows a Red "X" till I read somewhere in XDA forums (can't recall where exactly) that we can get a special cable to do the charge.

usb 3.0

How is the 3.0 usb working on this tab? Any problems with it?
Data transfer is fast but the charge time is ridiculous slow

If it works like the N3's charging isn't affected. And higher transfer speeds are only to USB 3.0-equipped Windows PCs.
The Galaxy Note 3 ships with USB 3.0, unfortunately at least in its current state it doesn't seem to get any benefit from the interface. Although the internal eMMC is capable of being read from at ~100MB/s, sustained transfers from the device over adb averaged around 30MB/s regardless of whether or not I connected the Note 3 to a USB 2.0 or 3.0 host.
Update: USB 3.0 does work on the Note 3, but only when connected to a Windows PC with USB 3.0. Doing so brings up a new option in the "USB Computer Connection" picker with USB 3.0 as an option. Ticking this alerts you that using USB 3.0 might interfere with calls and data, but then switches over. Connection transfer speed is indeed faster in this mode as well, like you'd expect.
Charging is an interesting story on the Note 3, but primarily because of what doesn’t change. The Note 3 continues to use Samsung’s tablet charging specification and charger, which has 2 amps of maximum output. The Note 3 draws 2 amps over a considerable amount of the charging curve, like other Samsung devices (in the linear part of the charge curve). USB 3.0 doesn’t change things up here quite yet with the new supported charge voltages that are coming eventually with the power delivery specification.

Somewhere (maybe in the user guide?!) in the specification of the Note Pro 12.2 you can read something about a maximum charging time of 4 hours. To get this charging time you need a minimum of 2,5 A. What is the specification of the power plug?
On an USB3 host (PC, Laptop...) you only get a maximum current of 900 mA, maybe a bit more sometimes. With this current the charging time should be easily over 12 hours.

Slower or faster than the 10.1 2014?
USB 3.0 works just fine. Read/Write speeds have easily been over 30MB/s, with peaks around 40 or so. That's with the Sandisk 64GB MicroSD Class 10 card I have installed, which is really the "bottleneck." It's noticeably faster using internal storage and much closer to max USB 3.0 speeds, especially when reading.
Also FYI, the included charger has an Output of 5.3V / 2.0A. Which is 10.6 Watt.
Keep in mind that the tablet can easily draw more power than either USB 2.0 or 3.0 can provide, while in use. USB is 0.5A and USB 3.0 0.9A. Using the included 2.0A charger is your best bet.
I just let mine charge up over night, so I'm not really watching it or anything. I haven't gotten anywhere close to killing the battery, but I also haven't put it through "all day" heavy use yet.
I am running GSAM, so we'll see how things look soon enough.

S5 Charging Sloooooow!

Hey folks. I have noticed since I got the S5 a few weeks back that it charges mega slowly on anything but the supplied cable and power adapter. When I plug it in with the regular cable to my USB 3.0 laptop in high performance mode, it still charges incredibly slowly. even if I use the regular wall adapter but with a micro-usb 2.0 cable, it still charges very slowly. Is this an issue that I can fix, or do I need to accept that the standard charger setup is the only way to really charge the phone?
What is the Amp output rating of the chargers you are using? The Samsung supplied charger is 2.0
For some reason this phone charges faster than any other phone I've had.
Especially with the supplied charger!
I'm not sure what would cause yours to be slow?
I think it depends on your definition of slow... A computer using USB 3 with a USB 3 cable generally charges at about 1 amp. Use a USB 2 cable and that drops. Same with using the USB 2 cables vs USB 3 cables. Optimal performance is achieved with the factory setup because it is using a 2 amp charger with USB 3 cable. Anything less is going to be slower. Like I said though it just depends on how slow. A bit slower than an s4, under those conditions, would be normal because of the battery increase. A huge time difference would mean something is wrong. But if you are comparing just the factory setup with the other options you can't. That would be apples to oranges.
If I missed something I apologize. Been at work for about 30 hours straight

charging using regular charger

Just wondering if charging the phone using regular charger instead of using the fast charger that the phone ones with will mess up the battery?
For example when in my car, Can I use the car charger to charge the phone?
not really, but for sure will a bit slower than the fast charger(actually not a big big different, becoz I'm using the charger from my previous Note 7), and for the fast charger need to go together with the original cable which can go to 5A, now mostly we can buy is support 3A max only.
I've got a normal charger from an old Asus tablet next to my bed I don't see the point in fast charging it overnight I have an idea in the back of my head that it might last a bit longer if I'm not charging it at supercharged speeds every night. In fact I plan to only use the supercharger as a top up only when I need it and in a more convenient place than next to my bed. I've tried 3 different charges now I know I'll charge no problems, albeit much slower
