Lineage 17.1 hangs during stsrt after installing super user - General Questions and Answers

I installed Lineage 17.1 at my old S5 to evaluate the custom rom for my S8. It operated quite well until I installed Update-SuperSU-2.46.zip using TWRP.
After that it stops at the green startup screen. Obviously I took the wrong app. How can I restore my cust I m rom?

AFAIK latest SuperSU published is 2.82-SR3

How to upgrade Magisk?

I've installed a deodexed rom with Magisk but now I can't update past 15.x version of Magisk.
I tried to do it in the Magisk app, and trough TWRP both to version 16.0 and to version beta 16.1, but it always just hangs in the part "Flashing new boot image".
I've waited several hours in that part, but nothing.
I've also tried it with and without TWRP installed.
I think I'm missing some step here.
I always uninstall Magisk via TWRP and the latest official uninstaller prior to flashing an upgraded version. A bit cumbersome to once again configure all the settings in the modules, but it works for me.

Youtube keeps stopping on RROS 6.1.0 kirin- official

I am running the beta 2 of RROS downloaded from the openkirin.net website. Every thing works fine and is smooth. However when I tried to go into settings in the YouTube app, the app stopped working. So I rebooted and tried again. Same result. Until now, this has been only happening in YouTube and in no other app (for now). Is there any fix for this or is this a bug? Thanks for your help.
Also a few other questions. How can I root this room like what TWRP and Magisk to use? If I want to change ROMs to LineageOS what should I do? What's the best custom kernel and how to install.
Edit. If there is an updated version of this build available how can I get that. Do I have to flash through TWRP? Because in the OTA update tab in customizations, it says can't check update. So far loving this ROM.
Also what's the main difference between LineageOS and RROS? Which one is better?
Reboot Twrp and try to clean cach or dalvikcach
Twro isn't compatible with open Kirin builds

Google Pay does not work on unrooted custom ROM anymore!

So, I just installed Google Pay and wanted to connect it with my PayPal account. Everything was going fine until I finished the setup - the app showed me a message saying "Setup for paying in stores could not be finished - This smartphone can not be used to pay with in stores. This can be due to your phone being rooted or changed otherwise."
I have a completely vanilla LineageOS 15.1 (latest build) installed. No Magisk or Xposed. So this might be because I installed a custom ROM.
I will keep this thread updated - I will try to install the latest build of LineageOS 16, then if it does not work, continue to flash the latest stock ROM.
Flashed LineageOS 16, got the same issue. Flashed stock ROM now and hopefully it will work.

Lineage builds for Samsung have that issue. They struggle to pass SafetyNet even if its not rooted. I'm running stock + Magisk and have Snapchat, Fortnite, Google Pay, and Pokemon Go all working no problem. Sac23's s9 port also has a good SafetyNet, just make sure to not use the Magisk included in the Aroma installer and use the latest zip
I've tried LineageOS 15 with Magisk. Google Pay works, but does not allow fingerprint use, only PIN/pattern. Same with WellsFargo app. It appears that something is incomplete or incorrect on the Samsung port of Lineage. Stock roms with Magisk do not have this issue.
So what's the best way to get android pay working? Just install Stock ROM and use Magisk to root?

[solved] Reboot to twrp when installing latest lineage16

Hello
Strange think for me, maybe not for you
I switch from carbon 8 and came back to lineage 16.
I'm not able to achieved installation with latest lineage 16, lineage microG or lineage17. Flashing the new rom works well, but after lineage home screen, the phone reboot to recovery.
With an lineage16 old version from 03/2019,install is ok and phone boot well.
I've suspected an old twrp version, but I'm on 3.3.1.0.
Any idea ?
thank you
it's the same with an old twrp version 3.2.
Ok, solved. You shouldn't install twrp as an app before rebooting to new os version.

Question LineageOS 20 install problem

Hi,
Thanks for developing Lineage!
I currently running latest version of LineageOS 19.1.
I tried to install LineageOS 20 on my A52.
In TWRP from Install, I installed Lineage 20 without any errors. After that I installed service Disabler and that went successfully. When I rebooted to the system, it went to samsung mark over and over again! I downgraded to 19.1 and it runs well.
What was the problem?
Your bootloop is caused by the service disabler.
You dont need it in20 but in19.
So flash again without service disabler

Services disabler has been removed from lineageos install guide a long time back since it was causing a lot of issues. Please just clean flash the ROM again.
