Hello, yesterday I installed Lineage OS on my M8, but forgot all te google apps. So I desided to reinstall everything today, I followed the instructions, but I just found out that my phone isnt recognized by adb and I have no OS to fall back on, does anyone haven any ideas?
You can enter fastboot but can't flash things?
Yup, it wasnt recognized by adb, buuuutt... I was able to throw some roms on a random sd card that I had lying around and that worked.
Related
So I'm trying to flash back to stock, however, my ADB stopped working. I don't know how long it hasn't worked because I flashed a ROM quite a bit ago and havne't touched it much since. I can get it into download mode or recovery mode but the phone won't recognize that isn't connected to the computer. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and also I tested adb on a mac (which supposedly is supposed to work out of the box 98% of the time) and it didn't work, which leads me to believe it's a problem with the phone. What are my options here? Do I need to get a external SD card and put the rom on there and flash from recovery? Because ODIN doesn't seem to even see my phone.
Edit: Also, I did the usual googling and trouble shooting. Developer Mode/USB debugging is enabled.
Hello guys,
Long time reader, first time poster over here.
I'm having a serious problem and wouldn't bother you with it, but i've scrolled through hundreds of forumposts, tried serveral things but haven't find the solution yet. (because the problems in those posts are only a part of my problem :s)
So I hope, by posting and explaining it myself, you guys can help me fixing my HTC One S (wouldn't want to lose it this way -.- )
Here it goes: my phone has been rooted for more than a year now, i've used several ROMs, been through some problems but no big deal and was able to solve them myself).
A couple of months ago, I decided to try the newest Cyanogen (11) mod based on Android 4.4, needed a new recovery but got it installed and working fine.
After a while I installed a Nightly update, and after that the trouble started and went from bad to worse to nearly death
first of all the phone kept rebooting at total random moments, enormously frustrating!
so I decided to do another update, after this update, I wasn't able to turn my Wi-Fi on
No big deal i thought, but after a while it began to annoy me, so another Nightly update was incoming
After this update **** really got messy, the message "com.android.systemui has stopped" kept popping up and the only thing I could do was click OK, then it popped back up -> OK -> and so on and so on
so my phone was as good as useless at this point
At this point I've had it with this ROM, so I put another one on my internal SD card (via coupling with my PC): Beanstalk 4.4 STABLE
This new ROM actually was installed as an update of the previous one, so the damned message "com.android.systemui has stopped" was still popping up constantly.
At that point I totally had it with 4.4 and decided to put an older ROM on it with which i've had had a good experience.
And that's where **** got fcked up:
When I go into recovery (CMW 6.0.4.5) and want to access my internal storage, it says "E: can't mount /storage/sdcard0"
So I wanted to connect to my pc to flash a new ROM to my device using Fastboot, but my pc isn't recognizing my phone and neither is Fastboot.
In fastboot, when I try "fastboot device" it keeps searching and doesn't find my device.
My PC however sees my phone, cause I hear the usbconnection sound when they're coupled, but it isn't showing up as a Removable Storage Device.
So to summarize:
once my phone is booted, i can't do anything apart from clicking OK on the "com.android.systemui has stopped" alert
in recovery, i can't mount my internal storage
when 'connected' to the PC, the PC and fastboot can't detect the device.
Other info:
i've tried it on a pc running W7 and W8
phone is HTC One S S4
I hope you guys can help me out here!

I've had success getting a connection to Windows just be using a different USB port, the ones at the back are best. Then at least you get fastboot access...But I also still have the problem with the sdcard, still working on that, trying to figure out a way to fix it from fastboot...
any progress yet rosanna? I was also able to make the connection with my pc, by using the usb ports on the back (thanks for that!). But I haven't been able to mount my sd card yet. I tried with another recovery but that didn't do the trick.
I got into the UI of my current ROM, and then my pc said I needed to format the SD before I could use it.
But I wasn't sure this is a good idea to do in windows.
Anyone know if it is save to format your internal sd card when prompted to do so in windows?

Try using a Linux live cd (try Ubuntu). You'll need a blank DVD to burn the iso to. Reboot your computer and see if it recognizes your device (no drivers needed). If it does try a more stable build this time.

I did read through that thread and tried it.
But i'm not quite sure everything went as plannend.
I even think it went wrong on the first step, flashing back to the stock recovery. This one isn't included in the all in one toolkit right?
So I started searching for one myself (I have an S4 VLE version of the phone) but I haven't downloaded one yet, although I've seen links that bring me to new links and so on and so on, I wasn't quite sure which link to trust.
If you could help me further I would really appreciate it

1 minute - downloadlink is on the way
Here you are: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2622663&d=1394422408
You can flash it with the toolkit selecting "Custom recovery".
When you're Storage is back alive and kickin' you can flash a custom revovery again.
My favourites are
TWRP 2.7.0.0 - http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/ville/openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.0-ville.img
and
PhilZ advanced CWM - http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/ville
In my opinion TWRP is easiest to handle and PhilZ has some more features.

Another direct link here, I personally flashed it manually trough fastboot, for me the easiest and fastest way to do it. Then proceed to the clear storage and flash your custom recovery (like @LS.xD I recommend TWRP but this is your choice )
THX Guys! :victory:
Thanks to your links to the stockrecovery, my phone is back alive and kicking.
I feared for a while for my phone, but on the other hand I knew the xda community would help me fix it!
1000 times thanks :good::laugh:

Ok, I'm an idiot. A big one.
I was looking to flash back to stock after using some lollipop roms. I was using TK's toolbox which was an extremely handy utility but in the peak of my madness, I hit lock bootloader with TWRP still installed.
Since hitting lock bootloader i'm not stuck with TWRP and it's crippled my phone since the current ROM no longer seems to be fully functional...I can't seem to download anything else from the web. Everything seems to fail.
I've tried fastboot oem unlock and it goes through the process that appears to be successful but it just boots back into TWRP and it's not unlocked. Does anyone have any suggestions or do I have a $300 paper weight. haha

Believe it or not, I have the same problem since yesterday. Its driving me mad since I'm no expert on rooting/unlocking
Phone gets detected by PC and by the toolbox but I can not unlock my phone again.
I am now stuck with TWRP and the only rom I can flash is Slimkat, all the others fail. If I hit unlock bootloader in the toolbox it goes through the process (fast) and it gives no error, boots back up to TWRP and thats it, but it is still locked
I just want it back locked and stocl CM11
Firstly, don't use toolkits. They are often the cause of issues.

Damn you're lucky!
I'm having more issues because my phone won't let me download anything. It's like there is no SD card detected. I can't get that file onto my phone to flash it. Any ideas how I can do it?
I have ADB enabled and it shows up in my devices but it won't respond to adb sideload oneplusone-bootunlocker.zip
It responds to fastboot commands.. it just won't let me download anything off the net onto the device. IT will however update phone apps.. It's so damn frustrating.

I had this yesterday + I kept getting the message 'No OS installed'. Since it was already half 'broken', out of frustration I clicked everything and used all sorts of commands I could find (not the best idea I know :angel untill my PC detected the internal memory and then I downloaded 6-7 roms just to be sure. Slimkat was the only one without a fail.
How did you get the files over to your phone then if it wouldn't let you send them to it?
I finally got my internal memory to show up by mounting the system in the TWRP recovery.. But still getting an error that the device stopped responding or is disconnected.. However, it will let me open and view any file on the system, it just won't let me write to it.
Adb sideload did the fix for me after a while.
But it looks loke you have another problem.

Instead of trying to sideload the unlocker zip have you tried using the adb push command?
Timma
Thanks for the reply. The solution for me was to mount the phone in TWRP. This allowed my SD card to be explored in Windows. However, it still would not allow me to copy files to the main directory and just out of frustration I quickly drag and dropped a PDF file that landed on a folder in the SD directory and it worked. Haha. So I then tried to copy the file inside another folder instead of the main directory. Success. What a headache and big ass mistake I'll never make again.
Note to self. Do not lock the bootloader with a custom recovery still installed. Ever.
So, I wanted to go to the newly released snapshot of CM12, so I decided to update my TWRP as well. Turns out, that was a terrible mistake, because not only did it not work (so I can't go into recovery), but I believe I soft-bricked my phone, because I cannot boot into it regularly. I can still go into the bootloader (which means I can use ADB), but that's it. Hitting recovery in the bootloader is an infinite screen, and booting regularly is an infinite screen. I followed this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HWj_1KHbuY . After it didn't work, I did a command that cleared the cache of my phone, and tried the same thing again. Now my phone is not working, and I'm going to cry myself to sleep. Please help.
Right now I am on a Mac that I've never used ADB on before, so it doesn't recognize my phone, so I cannot use it. If there is a way around confirming the ADB connection from my phone and forcing ADB to work with it, that would be good to know. I will be back to my PC that knows my phone on Sunday, so I can do that then.
Is an RUU the best thing to do? I'm fine with losing everything on the phone.
Hmm i installed the latest verison of twrp with my mac via fastboot ( followed directions from twrp site for the commands). I would try to get adb/fastboot to work on your mac first and maybe try to fastboot flash twrp again? and if that does not work i would just do a RUU honestly, but i'm sure someone smarter than me can chime in and get it resolved . For instructions to install adb/fastboot on a mac i followed this http://htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-...-mac-os-x-send-commands-your-htc-one-0151178/ If it does not recognize your device try installing htc sync manager.

You could go find the ruumode-flashable recovery that I think is in one of dottat's ruu threads (5.0.1 one I think). Then change the name of the file to 0p6bimg.zip and flash it in bootloader. That should flash twrp to a phone without adb/fastboot.
So, I followed all the basic instructions of getting ADB, downloading and flashing twrp, and my goal was solely to root my phone so I went ahead and got SuperSU as well and installed it through twrp. Everything went fine until I went to reboot my phone and it wouldn't work, it would only boot into twrp no matter what I did. In a moment of foolishness, I decided to go to the reset section of twerp, and switched to partition A (it was on partition B, where everything had been installed). Now my phone only has a black screen, and no amount of trying to soft reset or anything is turning it on. The only indication I have that my phone is doing anything, is that when I plug it in to my pc I can hear the connection sound. I can't access any files on the phone, and ADB doesn't recognize that the phone is plugged in. It's a Moto g7 power phone, and I used the latest versions of the programs. Also, I did do something of a ****ty backup before I started the process, but since my phone wasn't rooted I don't know how much that'll help me. All the stuff I find online says to just install a stock rom or whatever; but I can't even access my phone to do that. Is there ANYTHING I can do or am I ****ed?
Thanks so much for any and all help
