Hello everyone and Merry Yule! I have the U1 variant from Google Fi, unlocked through the sampwnd method. After unlocking i rooted and threw on edxposed. Now I'm curious as to how to upgrade. I've been a Pixel/Oneplus user for about 4 years and the last sammy I played with was the s7e so forgive my ignorance. Just want to make sure I'm flashing the right firmware TIA Happy Holidays!

I am trying to root my Verizon Note 4 Retail edition... I've rooted some android phones in the past... years ago. So I am a little bit out of the loop. Here's what I've found out doing some research on my own.
I know that having a developers edition is rootable, and that basically all other versions of the Note4 (non Verizon) are also relatively easily rootable. I don't need to tell YOU all that the internet is full of garbage, so needless to say I have some conflicting feelings that I can't sort out on my own. Many many many people online have posted that the Verizon Retail Note 4 is not rootable.
But, in these forums, I have found this:
1) convert to developer edition
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/general/howto-converting-retail-note-4-to-t3358957
2) unlock bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/general/note-4-verizon-bootloader-unlock-t3358913
3) root developers edition
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/development/how-to-custom-recovery-root-t2923340
Is this a reasonable route to root my Retail Verizon Note 4?

Hi and welcome to XDA.
See this post:

That will get your device rooted. Unlocking your bootloader and converting it to a developer's edition is optional.
Good luck
Hello friends from XDA. I used to be an avid android user for many years starting with the release of the G1 and have had many devices and have a lot of experience as a flash whore over the years. Got in the hot tub a couple years ago and fried one of my phones and have been using an iphone ever since. I got my hands on a gs6 and would like to switch over but it needs to be unlocked.
Model: SM-G920A
Badeband G920AUCS5DPI1
Build: MMB29K G920AUCS5DPI1
So i need to know the best/easiest way to root AND unlock this fella. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Rooting can be done by using cf-autoroot, there's an official thread in the original development forum which contains instructions. Now about unlock, whereas previous s series phones could be network unlocked via root methods, the s6 cannot, you will need to use a paid method for this.
Well I cant find that model on the cf-autoroot forum. From what I can tell the ATT version (SM-g920A) has a locked bootloader? Anyone know how to unlock bootloader or if there is another way that works? I posted on the cf-autoroot forum and am still awaiting a response. Thanks for the help in advance!

Ah gosh that's right, I did a little research before in this as there was another user with this query, I'm sorry to say that 6.0.1 on your variant can't be rooted, the only root methods ever available was for the lollipop software version, there's no way to downgrade either as far as I know.
Hi! I bought my S8+ some days ago from AT&T Mexico, just got it unlocked. I want to stay stock, no don't really want to root my device and I want to receive OTA updates as if I had an unlocked international version.
I've been reading quite a bit on the forum but I'm just more confused about how to achieve that. First of all, I don't really care about CSC here, at&t Mexico doesn't offer anything special or something that I want to keep and updates from them usually take ages to be available. So, I want my device to be as if I just bough an international unlocked version if possible and receive OTA updates normaly so I can have the latest firmware.
Hope I'm being clear with this, I'm a little confused about what to do. Hope someone can point me in the right direction. I already have ODIN and I know how to use it but I don't know what to do now.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: I have the Exynos version. G955F
Hi
I just purchased a brand new G930A, at a very good price I might add, and got it running on T Mobile. The firmware is old (6.0.1) and has had no security updates in a while. No updates seem to be available from ATT. I would like to root it and update everything to T Mobile (7.x.x) standard. I am not really looking for a custom rom unless there is a real benefit. Can someone direct me to a good, tried and true, step by step method for getting this done? All the way from unlocking, and rooting to flashing a rom. Just Foolproof is good enough, it doesn't need to be Damn Foolproof. Last phone I rooted (Droid Maxx) was about 5 years ago so I need some re-education. A link to a good thread would really help.
Thanks
John
Ok so i have a G955U Verizon unlocked S8+. I want to use it on AT&T but i was told that verizon had disabled a few of the AT&T bands. I dont care about rooting, but if i could root and get all the AT&T bands and no bloat ware that would be above and beyond. I would mostly be happy with just having the capability to use all the bands. So i saw PartCyborgRom had a custom rom that has just recently been updated to work with the v3 BL. Would this rom give me access to all of my AT&T bands? Sorry im a newb haha 15+ year forum creeper, first time poster. Need some help guys this new stuff is over my head! Cheers and thanks!
EDIT: So i have found bboii86's thread on the AT&T S8+ Stock Oreo G955USQU3CRD4 Odin files: https://forum.xda-developers.com/at...g955u-stock-g955usqu3crd4-odin-files-t3789751 and because im already running the same baseband version somehow but with Verizon bloatware im going to try flashing it. I suppose having the AT&T bloatware rather than verizon would just make me feel better lol. So new question with parts of the old still in place: will running PartCyborgRom give me access to all the bands on the AT&T network and will I be able to use it being on the 8.0 (oreo) Android Version? Much appreciated my friends.
