[Q] Htc sensation freezes and hangs after upgradung from GB to ICS 4.0.3

HI,i am new to this forum ,i bought my sensation xl phone from australia ,when i took it to india (where i am living now) ,i got it's "network sim unlock pin" done but the screen got cracked. After getting screen fixed ,my phone was hanging a bit so i updated it through "software updates section" but the phone is freezing and hanging A LOT.
I have tried factory restore settings, restarting etc,but nothing helped,
Please guide me what could i do to make my phone work .i am not able to use this phone as an android one.
My details are :
ANDROID VERSION - 4.0.3
HTC SENSE VERSION - 3.6
SOFTWARE NUMBER - 2.29.862.1
KERNEL VERSION - 3.0.16-g6f94259
ICS is the laggiest thing I have ever used.
If you are rooted, try removing the bloatware and also monitor apps running in the background. You could try greenify app for hibernating such apps.
Or try some custom ROM of 4.1 or 4.2.
Custom ROMs are usually debloated and speedy. You could try em. And make sure it's for your phone only and follow exactly What the OP wants you to do.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply
but frankly speaking i am new to this android thing ,It's a kind request to please tell me what to do in steps .
my phone is not rooted ,if this is required please tell me.Someone told me that if i downgrade it to GB it might sort the problem ,what do u say ? if yes the n kindly discuss the procedure.
I request you again kindly mention the step by step procedure in detail so that i can fix my phone and not the other way around.
Thanks in advance , i would really appreciate your help.
It's sensation xl right?
Have a look at this thread
And ask your questions regarding the phone
here
There is a dedicated forum for sensation xl and you could have a look at the Dev section and try many ROMs available for your phone.
Don't ask questions in Dev forums. Use the thread I linked to above for that.

SlimKat weekly 4.6 released

Happy Easter to everyone!!!!!!!!
A good day to publish the next SlimKat weekly 4.6. Jenkins just started to build for all devices new builds. This week is a special week for some device. A lot changes device specific. See the notes below.
Included is a new feature for secure lockscreens. Shake to temporarily secure.
Have fun and thanks for the support,
SlimRoms Team
General notes:
If you want to clean flash. Just follow the usual clean flash instructions here
Dirty flashers do the following: Format system manually....flash SlimKat build, flash new gapps and boot up.
If you did not update the gapps which were published during the week the notes here are still valid
Photosphere addon package was dropped now. The new google camera is available over the PlayStore as replacement and can be installed as second camera without problems.
Device specific notes:
i9300 and t0lte got major camera driver changes. Initial tests seems to work well for us. We need now a wider test. So do a backup of the prior install, install the new build and let us know if it is working better then before
m7att, m7tmo and m7ul are unified now and for all this devices you just need to download the m7 build. m7spr and m7vzw will stay like it was.
Changelog:
Framework: Shake to Temporarily Secure && Fixes
Framework: SystemUI: Custom Tile - add Global && Create Small API
Framework: Revert "SystemUI: Remove broadcast from QH toggles"
Framework: Revert "Base: Check ProcessesReady before broadcast"
Framework: Revert "Insufficient ProcessRecord cleanup when persistent process is killed"

Help for ROM suggestion

Dear all,
I need a suggestion for to keep or not stock rom in my brand new Z5 (previous nexus 5, now defunct).
What I need:
Mandatory requirements:
- Marshmallow (for xposed)
- root (xposed/titanium backup)
- Xposed (for xprivacy)
- Xprivacy (no android without)
- rock stable (everyday use - main phone)
Really important:
- OTA in android 6 (this should be in mandatory part, but I think it is the hardest requirement)
Desiderata:
- good/perfect camera performance (near stock rom)
- good battery life
I do not need fancy features: keeping stock rom is a viable option, but I don't like the fact I cannot keep my phone updated for security reason.
I've read many topics about roms, but I lack global comparison. Anyone has tried many of them and can help me?
Feel free to suggest things I've not considered.
Thanks a lot and excuse my english.

You're not going to be able to have OTA and stay on Marshmallow. You need to choose on or the other.
Thanks a lot to both. I opted to keep the original rom, only unlocking and rooting.
Maybe I'll try some updated kernel, if available.
Sony did a very good job hardening things, it's a shame to jeopardize my own phone not installing the last os version, but I can't think of using android as is.
PS: I know all the limitation of Xprivacy in marshmallow and in general, but few is better than nothing.
