In OneUI 2.5, I had a 7x7 grid option for the home screen and apps screen when I set the dpi to 600 or more in Developer Settings (N986U1). The 7x7 grids have carried over properly in the 3.0 update, and my Home Screen Settings list 7x7 as my current home screen and apps screen grid settings. However, if I tap either of those settings to see what other grid options are available, I find that 7x7 is not offered. I assume, therefore, that if I ever select a different grid option, I won't be able to get back to 7x7.
So there must be an internal parameter that still supports 7x7, even if the UI no longer makes it selectable. Does anyone know how to access and set that parameter, perhaps via adb?
I just noticed that the 7x7 grid option is a feature of the Home Up module for Good Lock, which is unavailable for now in OneUI 3.0. But I'm still wondering if there's a way to manually set that parameter while waiting for Good Lock to be updated.

I've been seeing a lot of threads (not only here) about ADW and ADW EX, the different settings, how to do certain things, etc. I don't think Ander ever wrote up a documentation so here's my little guide.
Anyone that would like to add anything, PM me and I'll add it in.
Little overview of ADW
ADW (EX) is a home launcher replacement. What does that mean? Well the home launcher, usually just called launcher, is pretty much the main way to get around on your Android device. It's the first thing you see when you turn your device on and it is what all of your apps, folders, and widgets are displayed on. To relate it to something everyone knows just think of your Windows/ OS X desktop. You know the thing you probably stare at saying "What did I want to do?!" and is a cluttered mess of icons? Yeah that's your desktop. The launcher on your device is essentially the same thing.
Quick rundown of the settings
When you first open the settings menu, you will see a list of 9 options. The top 4 are the ones you will be tweaking and constantly going into.
Presets - Profiles of settings that are preloaded into ADW. You can also create your own. Presets are just quick and easy ways to switch different things like icon size, dock type, workspace size, etc. These are only settings, NOT layouts.
UI Settings - The foundation of your launcher. From here you will edit things like Icon size, icon backgrounds, Dock type, the amount of rows and columns your workspace has, the App Drawer, and ADW's Hidden Dockbar. These are the real customization settings.
General Behavior - Name says it all. Screen transition effects, gesture controls, and the way ADW interacts with your device's hardware is all found here.
Theme Preferences - Again, pretty self explanatory. From here you choose what custom ADW theme you want on certain things. You can set 1 theme to cover everything, or use separate themes for icons, the dock background, and the hidden dock.
Backup and Restore - Backs up and restores your settings and icon layout. This does not work with widgets (I believe)
Tips and Tricks
Resizing
To resize a widget, you simply long press a widget until the little pop up menu appears and then click "Edit." The resize feature let's you resize in 4 different diretions (up, down, left, right), kind of like in a Word document. I find this to be a lot better than LauncherPro's because LP forces you to resize diagonally. To have some widgets overlapping, go to ADWSettings > UI Settings > Screen and click the Overlapping Widgets option. After that you can now overlap any widget over another widget or icon. Just remember that if you want a certain widget/icon to be BELOW another widget, the item you want below has to be placed on the screen first. If not, then it won't work.
Is there any Launcher out there that got the feature to change homescreen based on orientation?
I currently have my device locked on Landscape because I feel it looks better and I can fit more stuff on it. But with the same number of columns and rows in Portrait makes everything look bad and squished, if I use less rows and columns in Portrait then most of the apps and widgets are hidden and it still looks bad.
So the best would be to have 2 different homescreens depending on the orientation, I currently use Apex but I couldn't find a feature like that. Sure I could just scroll manually to another screen but that's just annoying and it's easier to lock it to landscape in that case.
sslauncher the original (market link) can do that nicely. It doesn't have XxY layouts, everything is freely arangeable (with guidelines). There's also a free version, which should have the same functionality to try first.
Not exactly what I was looking for, I was looking for the standard launcher but with orientation based homescreens. But this one looks really nice, will try it out for a while thanks.
orientation homescreen

Click to collapse
I need to use CM for Trebuchet, my device is not supported so that's not possible.
Also on my old device which was supported I couldn't find that function either, Trebuchet can auto-rotate but you can't set default homescreen depending on rotation.
For example, in Apex Launcher I can set Landscape to have 10x10 grid and potrait to have 5x5, the problem with doing that is that all apps and widgets that are set on a grid that is beyond 5y or 5x will disappear in potrait and everything will look bad.
What I want is to use homescreen number 1 as default for landscape and homescreen number 2 as default for potrait, that way I can make them look good on their own orientation.
The launcher should switch to the correct homescreen when I change orientation. I have tried like 15 launcher and haven't seen this function yet.
Easily start apps/shortcuts any time.
You can start a preferred page of the launcher and also set screen off, shortcut to make a call, etc..*
You can shift the launcher tile with dragging by thumb.
[Functionality]
- Quickly start launcher tile by swiping left/right edge of the screen.
- Variable for icon size, position, item count, pages, icon image and background image.
- Can set applications/shortcut/widget on the launcher tile.
- Can close the launcher by single tapping outside the launcher area.
- Can change length/width/transparency of the ignition bar.
- Can set actions for gestures on the bar.
- Can set action for flicking up/down on the tile.

My View on it's capabilities:
I wanted to help spread the word on an app that I heavily rely on for my minimal launcher setup. I wanted a completely blank canvas that still let's me quickly get to what I need, all while remaining invisible. This app easily accomplishes this for me, and so much more.
I use its built in toggles, app launching, widget launching (to have a blank home screen) and so much more.
If you are in need of a great gesture launcher, I would highly recommend giving this one a whirl. I tried many launchers for months before accidentally stumbling across this one.
I reached out to the developer a few times and was promptly greeted, and even had feature requests fulfilled within hours.
I hope others can enjoy it as much as I do.
Some screens of my setup:
Running stock(ish) OS on S8+
Got my setup "just so", and needed to change my DPI in Developer Options from default 411 to 514 (=411*1.25) to make use of larger screen real-estate I paid a premium for.
Option to resize the Home & App grids have disappeared, so even though app fonts & icon sizes are closer to what I desire, widgets on home screens look bad - scaled proportionately but padded to take up 125% space
Keeping the DPI & font sizes as-is, is there a way to tweak the grid sizes?
New launcher required
Seems this is an artifact of the launcher & not the "display manager".
Managed to get something approximating the outcome desired by making use of Nova Launcher
Hey all,
hope you're all healthy!
I was using Apex Launcher (Classic) for a long time now. The main reasons were that I could
- have a pixel precise background image / wallpaper that was designed to fit around my icons and widgets
- have custom folder icons
- have gestures on the home screen
- have a high density icon grid on the homescreen as well as the app drawer. Without icon labels.
All of this worked well up to my Pixel XL (1).
Now that I got my Pixel 5 I have issues with 3 of those 4 points:
- i can't control how my wallpaper is positioned and scrolled on my 2-page homesceen.
- the maximum number of icon rows on Apex Launcher Classic is 10. And since the screen is no longer 16x9 but longer, 10x6 icons looks off.
- the action "tab on home when on home screen" (where I had the app drawer) works very funny with the new android gesture navigation
so:
tl:dr
Do you know a nice launcher that features
- more than 10 icons per row in home screen and app drawer
- flexible gestrures
- custom folder icons
- precise wallpaper positioning and scrolling
thank you very much!

Nova launcher I believe does most of that

I also would say Nova Prime should be good...
Yes thank you guys. I already installed Nova. The only drawback is, that on a two-page layout, the wallpaper is not scrolling 1 to 1 but only part way. I guess I will have to live with that...
Another problem is that the Pixel 5 often defaults back to the standard pixel launcher without promt or anything. Have to go to the app settings and set Nova again as default. But I'm already on the google forum for that...
Thx again. Stay save!
