I'm having something weird happen. My phone was working perfectly fine a week ago. I went away and when I came back i started using it again and now there are times when I make/receive calls and I don't get any sound, whether it be from the speaker by your ear or if I switch it over to speaker phone. If i do a reboot of the phone, everything works fine once again. Does anyone know what may be causing this? I have the in call volume set to the highest.
One thing that I noticed, that I may just have never noticed before is, when I make a call a quick pop up comes up that says "Conditional call forwarding active". I do have google voice but ONLY for voicemail, nothing else. Is this normal?
Hello,
Recently I noticed that when I put a call on speaker, I can hear just fine, but the person on the other end can't hear me at all, and in some cases report a loud, windy noise. I don't understand what's causing this, as the normal phone works fine, the microphone records my voice clearly when using a voice recorder, and the video camera records sounds flawlessly.
Could this be an issue with the network? Or does the speakerphone use a separate microphone? Maybe the phone's hardware/software?

I have the same issue with a brand new Z3 from Tmobile as well. Guess what, so does my wife who ordered one on the same day!
The issue we have is that if you switch the phone to speakerphone, there's this crazy background noise that makes hearing someone completely impossible. I read on a different forum that the fix is to go to SETTINGS/CALL SETTINGS/ and turn off the Microphone Noise Canceler. While that does drop the noise out completely, the lack of a noise canceler means the other person can now hear themselves talking when on the phone with you.
I also tried another setting someone recommended which is called CLEAR+, but that sadly didn't have any effect at all.
Anyone else figured this out?
I know this post is old but I seem to have the same problem (minus the noise you guys describe). During an in ear call, the conversation is crystal clear both ways, it is when i place the call on speaker that the other end cannot hear me.
Searching for a solution, I came up with two (some say the OK GOOGLE works perfect, while for others it has no impact).
I have tried the OK Google 'fix' unfortunately, this did not work on my handset. Google app > Settings > Voice > OK Google Detection (switch off)
What seemed to "help" (didn't really fix the problem though) is going into Google Music app > Equalizer > Mic sensitivity > High
While the person on the other end can now hear me, it seems my voice is not too crisp and clear. Not sure what else to do in order to get the mic to work properly over speaker.
Hi, I bought Nokia Lumia 1020 last year (2014) which ran out of warranty now. Recently I started facing the problem with my calls. For every incoming/outgoing call, I can hear the recipients voice but the recipient cant hear me. Other person can hear me only when I am in speaker mode or using the headphones. Always we may not carry headphones and lifting calls even for emergency in speaker mode while at office is very inconvenient. I don't want to change Nokia as I Love it for its other features like look & feel, camera etc.
1. I did power and volume reset - No change.
2. Tried taking calls by changing the direction of the phone, removed cover etc - did everything that I read in other posts. Nothing worked.
I want to get this problem fixed, without changing the phone, what do you reckon?
The warranty is 2 year.
Thanks for the information. I thought warranty is for 1 yr only. I will try to get it exchanged.
I have a huawei p10 lite and recently people couldnt hear me well when talking on the phone. I checked via voice/video recording, whatsapp calling, using loud speaker etc and found out that main mic has problems, but secondary mic located on the top records good and clearly. So is there any app, mod or something I can do to make the secondary mic default for normal call speaking? I have warranty but where I live companies are crap, I am certain they will just say you broke it since I even tried it in front of them for call quality etc and it was ok back than.
Recently I am receiving a new error with my Pixel 3. If I use Google Assistant it works perfectly with my voice being recorded as well as keyboard voice input or any voice recorder. Thought when I use apps that require mic for live calls like Discord, Google Duo, Skype or Telegram they do not receive any input and sometimes they do not even provide any output. So basically I cannot talk and sometimes I cannot hear other people talking either.
This is extremely annoying. I am not even able to talk to people because of this. I used bluetooth headset and native pixel headphones during these calls and none of them worked properly.
Anyone ever stumbled upon anything like this? It seems like apps do not receive right permissions (even though I've manually set them) or something else software related. I do not understand how to Google this issue either, most issues are about mic being broken physically or something similar. Any suggestions? I appreciate your attention.
