Greetings all! Could someone please help me confirm the settings for Google Fi? I somehow recently lost my ability to connect at high speeds and only see 3G. Specifically:
Data Roaming: On or Off?
VoLTE Calls: On or Off?
Network Mode: GLOBAL, LTE/CDMA, or GSM UMTS ?
Thanks, just trying to mirror the correct settings from another Fi user who has 5G working correctly in their area.

Many of you know that the sore point of this phone is the quality of signal reception. Informing about the mode of action of the baseband, and reading the feedback from users about their various tests, always read from their words unsatisfied a search of a radio version that could improve the reception of the terminal (and thus battery life).
Since I live in a poor signal area on the Vodafone network IT (and no LTE coverage), I thought that perhaps the solution could meet elsewhere. After PimpMyRom installation , under "Device Hidden Menu > Access Hidden Menu > Telephone informations" there is a menù was set to a profile "LTE / GSM auto (PRL)".
By clicking on the drop-down menu, I selected GSM Auto (PRL), then rebooted, and i have greatly improved connectivity to the network.
Below there is a legend about the most important items. Take the test and reported your opinions.
I recommend GSM Auto (PRL) for best battery consumption allowing the automatic signal 2G/3G, preferring to 2G when the 3G signal is weak.
- WCDMA preferred - The GSM phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 3G is favored more.
- GSM only - The GSM phone is capable of using only 2G data communication. When the 2G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
- WCDMA only - The GSM phone is capable of using only 3G data communication. When the 3G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
- GSM auto (PRL) - The GSM phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 2G is favored more. This one is a bit confusing to me since PRL is associated mostly with CDMA technology and not GSM technology.
- CDMA auto (PRL) - The CDMA phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 2G is favored more.
- CDMA only - The CDMA phone is capable of using only 2G data communication. When the 2G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
- EvDo only - The CDMA phone is capable of using only 3G data communication. When the 3G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
- GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) - Some phones are equipped with both GSM and CDMA capabilities.

Hi, i`m on SlimRom 4.3 Beta 4
Everytime i try to change my Phone Profile to GSM Auto or something else in the List it crashes and says:
The Process: com.android.phone was quitted.

It's strange because is a System related setting that can be changed without problems...maybe in your case this parameter is linked to something other. In my case all went ok only selecting other profile (i discovered that if you select "2G only" into telephone settings, this string change to GSM Only). So my suspicious is related to a linkage to some other driver that won't make you possible to change it.
We have to investigate. However my battery drain seems lowered combined with "Wifi tx power" + "iwconfig" file used for reduce Wifi signal power to 11dB. Other small things and Jelly pure ROM 4.3 will be perfect for daily drainage use
Greetings all!
I am currently residing in Japan and was in the States on leave and got a SM-G900P, stock and rooted. It worked fine on Sprint networks.
Enter now, I am back in Japan, utilizing a Softbank iPhone 5 LTE USIM and APN. LTE works, but only when I force "LTE only" with Advanced Signal Settings, but I get errors when reconnecting to LTE (Errors 29 and 33). GSM will not connect in "auto", "GSM Auto", or "GSM Only", but GSM reads 35% strength and UMTS is fully functional. I can send/receive calls and texts fine. Will submit pics later.
HALP!!! Thanks in advance all!

Hello guys, i am from India. Here, I have activated airtel 3g and i am from Maharashtra state. Here, airtel network uses IDEA network for 3g packs as they don't own the spectrum. I kept my cell in 3g mode and "automatically select network", but it stays in 2g(Same doesnt happen in my note 2, using 3g in auto mode). If i manually select IDEA from the list of networks, it goes to 3g. I want to keep it on auto, like switch to 2g when 3g is not available. Settings are same. How to make it switch to 3g automatically. Preferred mode is 3g. Any problem in my handset?
Thanks
I'm customer of the local carrier "Drei" (Hutchison) but my Pixel (bought in Germany) does not connect to the 4G / LTE network.
The support of Drei is not able to help me. LTE is working fine with the same SIM on the OnePlus One.
Any clue how to fix that?
There is regional problem I came across. In India here we dont have VOLTE support on pixel

What LTE bands do they use on Drei?
Same happen to me in Portugal with MEO. I can't seem to solve it. Talked with my carrier support, they don't know why I don't have 4G/LTE.
I never got 4G, but my SIMCard has no issues with iPhone getting 4G right away.
Is it Pixel issue? I start to think it is..
3/Drei is listed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks_in_Europe#Commercial_deployments
The specs of the Pixel are listed here: https://madeby.google.com/phone/specs/
That is all information I have got.
Is there any possibility to display information about nearby LTE senders via an app?
After activating "LTE only" via *#*#4636#*#* it works. Everytime I search for networks or reboot my phone it still connects via 3G and switches back to "LTE UMTS auto (PRL)".
Seems to be a software issue.

I use the phone on Verizon and don't have any problems connecting to LTE using any available mode (Global, LTE/CDMA or LTE/GSM/UMTS). However, if I set the mode to LTE-only via the menu, it will also reset when I either reboot the phone or if I just open the "Cellular networks" menu. I think it's how it supposed to work because that menu doesn't have the LTE-only option, so it resets the mode to whatever you see there. The solution is simple - if you reboot the phone change the mode again and don't go to the "Cellular networks" menu
Regarding why it doesn't work with "LTE UMTS auto (PRL)", it might be because Drei didn't configure a handover from UMTS to LTE on the cell site you're connected to. It looks like Pixel finds UMTS signal first, but doesn't know that LTE signal exists due to a missing handover. Another phone might be fine if it searches for LTE signal first. But if you can see another phone switching from UMTS to LTE in the same spot, my theory is wrong.
hi was wondering if there is any way how to enable volte and wifi calling? im using tmobile i dont see volte anywhere without root if possible for now?

4G is technically LTE. The Xiaomi firmware doesn't seem to have an LTE icon, at least not that I have seen. 4G and 4G+ are LTE and LTE-A.

After the *#*#86583#*#, try going into Mobile & Networks, and select your SIM card. There should be a VoLTE enabled option now. This option didn't show up for me until I did that and then I had to turn it on.
There's now a tiny VoLTE icon in the notification bar and when I'm on a call, it stays there.
Try code *#*#869434*#*# to disable VoWIFI check. And check if it working on T-Mobile.
I don't have Tmobile to check it.

What ROM's have people tried for WiFi Calling? Does the OP refer to T-Mobile in the UK/EU or USA? The Global Stable seems to have some less features compared to the Chinese Stable. I had Advanced Messaging working in the default text app when I was on Chinese Stable by doing nothing but it does not seem to work on the Global Stable.
got volte working on tmobile US just not wifi calling but its fine

Eu global the lastest one 10.2.2.0
Ever find a solution to this? I am on MIUI Global 10.3 (Stable) and am able to turn off Mobile data( T Mobile is my carrier in U.S.) and with my WiFi on the device i can still make and receive phone calls. In this configuration i obviously still see my WiFi symbol in the Notification bar as well as the VoLTE symbol. Don't know if this will help you at all, but it is some stuff i have noticed recently when i was trying to figure out why T-Mobile apps dont work on my Mi Mix 3.
With WiFi turned off and Mobile Data turned on i am able to make phone calls(obviously) with VoLTE and am able to see the LTE+ symbol in the Notification bar as well.
If i go to About Phone --> Tap "Internal Storage" 4 time(brings you to the Testing Menu) and looking into the Phone Info i see the following...
Set Preferred Network Type: LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS
Mobile Radio Power: On
VoLTE Provisioned: Off
Video Calling Provisioned: Off
WiFi Calling Provisioned: Off
EAB/Presence Provisioned: Off
When i bring this menu up on my previous phone(LG G7 ThinQ) i see that the Preferred Network type was different...so i changed my Mi Mix 3 just to match to see how it would change
My LG G7(without a SIM inserted) shows the following
Set Preferred Network Type: LTE/UMTS auto (PRL)
Mobile Radio Power: On
VoLTE Provisioned: On
Video Calling Provisioned: On
WiFi Calling Provisioned: On
EAB/Presence Provisioned: Off
Changing the network type on my Mi Mix 3 didnt do much, however when i changed it LTE/CDMA/UMTS auto(PRL) the VoLTE Provisioned and Video Calling Provisioned both switched to "On".
I dont quite understand this so for the most part i have just left it to match my LG's setting since i can change the network type back to LTE/UMTS auto(PRL) after and the settings stay set to "On"
Made a few test phone calls after with WiFi on and off, everything seems to work just fine regardless of what the phone displays.

Put the device in airplane mode, then turn on WiFi. Can you make calls? I can't! Turning on WiFi and enabling WiFi Calling doesn't mean the calls are going over WiFi. Especially if you are still seeing VoLTE or any time of mobile network connection.
Edit: Go down to the very bottom, hit more, hit IMS status, and see what it says.
Yeah I looked at the IMIS before, voice over wifi has always(I assume) said not unavailable

No access to the IMS settimgs is more than likely why we can't get it working. We cam't see the settings to even compare them to what they should be.
I am on MIUI Global 10.3 (Stable) / Chinese Device / T-Mobile Germany.
VoWiFi as well as VoLTE are working on my device, however you need root access to enable the VoWiFi profile.
Once it is working you will see the WiFi calling icon in the status bar.
I was following this guide to enable WiFi calling on the Mi Mix 3:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/guide-activate-vowifi-wlan-call-t3871263
I don't know if the mentioned profile will work in other countries as well but maybe someone with more insight can shed some light into this.
I remember that VoLTE was working out of the box, you just have to disable the carrier check with the USSD code to make it available in settings.
VoWiFi can be enabled via USSD code as well, however even after changing the setting to enabled and preferred WiFi calling it does not register without the profile change.
VoLTE: *#*#86583#*#*
VoWiFi: *#*#869434#*#*
I had to redo the profile change after each upgrade with TWRP, since the firmware partitions get updated as well.
I hope this will help. :fingers-crossed:
I have Mix 3 with U.S T-Mobile service. After disabling the VoWiFi check with *#*#869434#*#*, the option for WiFi calling check box appears under the T-Mobile SIM section, but WiFi calling is not working when tested under airplane mode with WiFi enabled.
Vowifi works fine on MTS (Russia). All you need:
1. Activate vowifi service from the operator
2. Disable service check by command: *#*#869434#*#*
3. Create folder into: /system_root/system/priv-app/MBNLoader
4. Copy into this folder APK: MBNLoader.apk (View attachment MBNLoader.apk
5. Give right privileges: -rw-r--r--
6. Reboot phone
7. Install from play market QuickshortcutMaker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
8. Open it and go to tab apps
9. Find Modem Config
10. Open it (tap) and you will see a lot of MCFG Modem configs.
11. Try one by one to start vowifi working
12. Enjoy!
