Sigh. I tried taking my very first selfie with my new phone.
Notice the strange purple aura. At first I thought I had filters on, I checked to make sure none were on. Also tried disabling HDR, no change there. Restart was the only fix.
What do you guys think? Is this more like a software glitch or is this a sign of potential trouble brewing with the hardware?
Any ideas, suggestions are welcome.

Do you play a lot of Cyberpunk 2077?
Try a reset of the camera app and clear data and cache for the camera app, if all fails try a factory reset, or a clean flash using CSC with Odin
If it's still there after all that, return it under warranty
EDIT - You have removed the protective film from the camera lenses right?
Lol. No. Why? (about the cyberpunk)
Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely give those steps a try. It seems to be relatively rare, as Google yielded 0 results on the subject.

Yeah. No film either on the front or back one. I just ran the Samsung test menu *#0*# and also tested the back cam (megacam) . The final, 3rd one failed. Does this only work under certified circumstances? Can you check if you can pass yours?

It can happen with any lense but better made ones exhibit it far less.
You can photoshop it out or simply avoid the shooting shots that are likely to cause it; adjust the lighting or your position to it.
https://www.masterclass.com/articles/what-is-chromatic-aberration-11-ways-to-fix-chromatic-aberration-in-photography#what-causes-chromatic-aberration
On a well designed lense like the Canon 70-200 f2.8 L you pretty much never see it. However the 50L f1.2 would occasionally exhibit it. Each lense has its strengths and weaknesses, none are perfect. As a shooter your goal is to exploit the strengths and avoid the weaknesses.

That's the first time I've ever encountered this on a smartphone and that's what got my concerned that it might be a hw issue. It only fixed itself after a reboot. Hasn't happened again, luckily.
This isn't purple fringing. The area close to your face is perfectly exposed and that's where the purple haze would be harshest.
This looks more like sensor noise flare. Camera sensors heat up as you use them and produce noise although yours is very extreme.
The fact that there is a perfect center followed by a vingnet of purple points to the sensor being the problem. Take a picture of a white piece of paper, if the effect is the same, it's a defective camera module. To say it's software related to me means new phone just because how bad samsung software seems to play on each phone.

3rd one worked fine for me, it was the zoom/telephoto lens
I'd give the reset / clearing cache / resetting camera app etc a try, then consider an exchange if it isn't resolved

Fingers crossed they are willing to send a new one. Getting a warranty repair service done is a hassle in NYC. The closest official service center is in NJ. Only ubreakifix is open in the city. And the lack of professionalism in those places is legendary... lol thanks again so much for your help. Much appreciated

In Sweden they have 14 days rule and if you find a defect on the device you buy within the 14 days they will claim it as factory fault and will replace it directly. But if you find a fault after 14 days then they will go for repair instead under warranty.
Guess it's different in the US.

Then return it if you're within the period.
They tried the same with me with my first non 5g note 10+, they did full exchange after I told them I want my money back and told them I'd file a claim with my card AND keep the phone.
Obviously the card company asks for the device when you do that, I have citibank, they have always had my back, but I bet most banks do as long as the purchase is recent.
Banks are more likely to follow state return policies and file claims against those who don't, I've done it a few times. If you're within the period, they legally are opening themselves up for marks on their corporate record with card companies if they don't return it.

Well, I finally received my Transformer 32GB today from Newegg and I must say that I am absolutely in love with it; despite some minor issues. Don't worry, I plan on doing a "first impressions" review shortly.
Anyways, I did notice some light bleed when looking for it and now I can't really seem to get over it. However, I tend to be a bit paranoid about things so I figured I would ask you guys for some advice before just asking for a replacement.
I took these pictures at full brightness in a completely dark room. For some reason, the camera seemed to have reduced the severity of the light bleed a bit (thought it would do the opposite). Basically, one can see light leakage on the bottom (to the right of the logo) and a couple on the middle of the right of the display.
Full brightness:

Would you guys get this replaced if you were me? My main concern is that the replacement yields even more leakage than the original.
PS - The bezel and screen seem to be perfectly aligned. I also have very little creaking near the right bezel.
I have some light bleed too, but only a little in the lower left corner. If mine were as bad as yours, I would replace. Yours is affecting 25% of your screen or more...
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Man, I am having the same problem. Every day I have the dilemma " should I replace it? - but I love it so much and what if the next one is crap"
Lol, tough call.
If you bought it from a good retailer (one that doesn't charge a restocking fee, I say go for the swap, since light bleeds are a sign of a defect)
Unfortunately for me, my retailer was crappy and charges 15% to restock, which means 75$ just to replace the device. Thumbs way down
Mine has bleeding on the left and right side of the screen, but I really only see it when I'm rebooting and the black screen comes on. I have not ran into any issues while using the tablet where I notice the bleeding so I don't really think its that big of a deal unless your watching a dark movie maybe.
Honestly dude, just listen to your common sense. Disregard what I or anybody else on these forums may say to you. The majority of people here lack sense which leads them to constantly complain about minor issues.
Think to yourself first would you have notices this without the help of this forum?
Does the issue harm the performance of the device?
Does it take away from the devices beauty?
Will any of your friends or family notice?
These among other questions are what you should ponder before making a decision...
I can tell you from my experience as being one of the first people to own a Tmobile G1, Mytouch and Sprint Evo 4g as well as an owner of many other devices including laptops, tvs, cars, radios, video game systems, video games, etc etc etc... You can return and exchange all you want but you will never find the PERFECT(Definition:Make (something) completely free from faults or defects) device or product...
Good Luck with your decision!
Wow... thanks for all your comments. I was expecting some "C'mon... another one of these?!" threads.
@gadgetfan: For some reason the blushing on the bottom right and left corners are not visible at all. I think it was some crazy processing that my camera did. Maybe due to the white text on those areas and the angle the pictures were taken. I only really notice the 1"-long bleeds on the bottom and right of the screen.
I ordered mine from Newegg so I know I'm good on getting it replaced. The problem is when will it actually get replaced? And if it does get replaced, will it be worst then the current one?
I was thinking of maybe waiting for it to get back in stock and try to snatch another one and seeing how that one is in comparison, then returning the worst of the two. Do you think these retailers would actually notice which is which inside the box?!

Isn't there a serial number on the box and on the unit. They should match.
The box isn't an issue as I can send the new box with the older unit in it. I highly doubt they'll be matching serial numbers as they usually send these off to the manufacturer to get refurbished anyways. If they ask, I can always tell them I accidentally swapped them by mistake. Right?!
sadly i have many stuck pixels but thanks for the fixel density they are only seen on a black screen, but BLACK, so i dont care i can live with that, or well sell it over here when they start to sell them here
edit: after using a simple app that shows many different colors, man the stuck pixels are on a black screen, no in every color (i have seen stuck pixels on my psp so i know when the problem its serious).
it doesnt affects me that much i can live with it.
the light bleed its minimal like 5%. low creacks.

Stuck/dead pixels drive me crazy. Once I see them it's as if I ALWAYS notice them. I replaced my 21.5 inch monitor and my G-Tablet because of one stuck pixel. I figure if I can get a free replacement then I'm going to replace it until I get a "perfect' one.
To the OP, the light bleed looks pretty bad. Personally I'd try to to replace it.

well since i dont see a dead pixel outside of a black screen i dont care, and my eyes hurts after going trough a RGB series of colors @[email protected] testing if i could see them
and im not up to pay the cost of the shipping to get a replacemnet
I wouldn't think twice about replacing it if I found a single stuck pixel on anything I own. Bleeds are hit or miss as some are way less noticeable than others.
Can anyone here honestly say that their TF is completely free of any light bleeds? If so, can they prove it?
Not to hijack the thread but this seems related:
I just picked up a 32gig model last night from a local retailer and there's a small (1mm-ish) gap between the bezel and the screen right where the hdmi port is.
There's a little light bleed in that area, which honestly doesn't bother me, but I am worried about dust getting in that gap.
Worthy of a return or am I worrying too much?
I would return it if mine had any gap whatsoever.
BTW, I just ordered one from WalMart and I'll compare it to the one I already have. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
The creak on the bottom right drives me nuts. The rear of the unit actually flexes around that area. Just doesn't feel very good. I also have issues with the touch screen not responding. I was going to make a topic on it, hoping it was just mine, but I guess it's just a transformer thing and I should either deal with it or return it and find something else.
In all my years of being a computer/gadget geek, I just haven't been able to wrap my head around the huge issue people have with light bleed. Just how many people sit in pure darkness everyday just to watch movies? I wish I had enough time to do this just so I could be mad at having light bleed. If the movies filled up the entire screen (some don't) then it should barely be an issue. The only time it's really noticeable is full brightness on a solid black picture.
What does it look like on a non-completely black screen?

Thanks for the input. I just wanted another opinion to make sure I wasn't being overly paranoid.
They're sold out again but I'm on the list for an exchange once they get more.
From my experience, I've seen 3 tablets, there is bad light bleed and tolerable light bleed. Soft light bleed is very tolerable and looks like a dull half circle of light, however, I've seen light bleed where it is a sharp bright light which looks like a triangle and completely bugged the hell out of me.
I would definitely return a creaky bezel. My 1st one had it and that is where the worst light bleed was. Pressing that point made the light bleed change. My other 2 had no creaking.
Just a suggestion, watch a dark movie, such as "The Dark Knight" and see if the light bleed bothers you. If not, keep it, otherwise exchange it. I believe movies are where it will be the most bothersome.
Received my OnePlus One yesterday and I have to say I am completely head over heels in love with it.
But..... I'm OCD when it comes to my electronics and of course mine had to come with the nasty yellow banding at the bottom.
I'm thinking I might have gotten a customer's return which is weird because it was completely sealed, I had to open it by pulling the threaded tab just like in all the unboxing videos. When I went into gallery, there were about 100+ personal pictures of some random dude and his family, a bunch of downloaded crap, ringtones, other 3rd party browsers, Amazon apps, ect. Hell I even got some full length movies on there, Transformers and a bootleg cam'd version of Edge of Tomorrow.
My guess is that OnePlus is putting customers returns into new packages and sending them out without even fully wiping them correctly. My unit looked like it was never touched, all the screen sticker ect. wow...just wow.
Anyways back to the yellow band, so I followed the advice of people all over the forums to use UV light to try and fix the issue. Well, good thing my mother in law owns a nail salon, I asked if I could take one home for a night. Took it out to the garage and went to work...
On the positive side it actually does help....a little. From a scale of 1-10, 10 being very yellow at the bottom and 1 being completely white at the top, under the UV light for 10 minutes, the yellow was reduced to I'd say a 7.
Bad news is that it doesn't improve any further after that, I put it in there for another 10 minutes and it didn't make a difference. Went crazy and left it in there for 45 minutes, still no improvement. Don't know if the UV damaged my digitizer but touch sensitivity seems to be degraded. Doesn't register my touches as nicely as before...
So there you have it, I left it in a professional nail salon UV machine for about an hour, way more than the recommended 15 minutes, it improved it a little bit but seemed to have messed with the touch sensitivity of the device.
Use UV at your own risk, I tried it and it helped but didn't fix it completely. I love the device too much so I'll be ordering another one when I get a chance.

Another thing during work today I was experimenting with it and noticed if you apply light heat from a heat gun (lowest setting) the yellow COMPLETELY disappears. Unfortunately when it starts cooling down the yellow comes back.

I left my OnePlus in the sun on the first morning after I got it. I put it in the morning sun while I got ready for work and made breakfast. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being beyond unacceptable the phone started as a "5". I could definitely see it but it was clearly a "I'd be the only one to notice" amount of yellow. After about 1 hour of direct morning sun on a 75 degree morning it's a "1" now. Just a slightest of slight hints of yellow that may be the warm calibration of the phone.
That's my experience with the whole mess.

That's insane man, though not very surprising of OnePlus at this point. I guess paying $360 for a device of this caliber will numb any indignation. Did you buy it directly from OnePlus using an invite? What is the supposed build date of your phone? Where did it ship to you from? Everything seemed perfectly new when I got mine, the only thing that I thought was odd was the lack of any documentation, you know like a user guide, warranty, warnings etc. Did you get any?
As far as the yellowing goes, I feel that it is slowly fading away, and I haven't even exposed it to any California sunshine or heat, I've mostly used it in air conditioned areas.
I got mine without any defects, but I don't think keeping it under UV light for an hour would do good to any phone.
Why not root it and tweak RGB values with trickster to at least make it unnoticeable?
People bashing everyone but themselves as always.

There is no need to use mods to adjust the RGB values on this device. You can do it with the stock ROM.

You can only control Hue, Saturation, Contrast, Intensity with the stock ROM. You cannot adjust RGB values, you'll need a custom kernel with this commit in order to adjust the RGB and I'm sure later down the line, there'll be gamma controls similar to the N5 on the OPO

Yes I ordered it directly from oneplus.net, I purchased the invite on eBay. Paid $100 for the invite... I know... but I just had zero patience and had to have it NOW! I felt like Veruca from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
So all in total I paid about $469.xx, but even at that price if seems like a steal. Paid almost $700 for my GS5 which feels like junk compared to this bad boy.
It's too bad about the hardcore yellow band at the bottom of mine, I think I found the perfect phone. The battery life on this thing is R-E-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S! I swear it doesn't want to die.

Yeah at first I was going to return it but after hearing people had to pay $50+ to ship it back to China and no guarantees of getting back a perfect device, I decided against it.
I'm hoping my case is just an isolated incident, imagine the outrage if OnePlus was really putting customer's returns back in new sealed boxes and sending them out in order to meet demand?

They need to do a lot to gain respect. They are lucky people settle with the yellow screens. How can you say it's suppose to be like that? They can control the situation now and censor, deny rma, because of the invite system.
Imagine if the phone was released publicly. Stores would stop buying them because of returns and they would have a lot more people complaining than on the forums about a yellow screen.

Build date is July 2, 2014.
No documentation, just phone, charger cable and sim card keychain in the box. Box was completely sealed with plastic outside, does not looked tampered with at all.

Well not dead but its stuck and it can't be fixed since I've tried a million methods!!!!

They will say one dead pixel is normal. You need 2-3 dead for a replacement.

That's my experience with the whole mess.

will try this, thanks.
On my small Pixel (black 128GB edition) I get severe lens flares in situations, that were never a problem for any smartphone before.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfz8YmHmeJ4 The video here illustrates the issue pretty well, several very well known people on YouTube + Twitter have encountered the exact same problem, including @MKBHD, @DetroitBORG and @superscientific !
I'd like to know if there are devices out there that don't have this problem. You won't see it in all lighting situations, but it's very pronounced in some - where it shouldn't be.
I have.noticed this today on my camera I attached a photo the halo or flair can be seen at the bottom the pale grey around the bottom left and right. Like you say, it's only in certain light conditions and certain angles. Must be the glass that surrounds the lense.
Looks like the the phone has been rushed out and not tested properly.
Two more photos
This is definitely a design floor as happens if the camera is on its sides, upside down and normal. Really didn't expect this from such a highly priced phone.
Some more photos from me:
I'm talking to support via the built in support. I'll let you know what they say.
I'm taking mine back to the carrier store in an hour. No way I'm going to accept this.
This is happening to me as well. Definitely a deal breaker, unless covering the glass with a case fixes the problem. It's a shame, because the camera blows everything else out of the water.
Been in contact with EE and they have said my handset is defective so they are sending me a new one tomorrow. Excellend support from them, Thought it would have been a pain in the arse

Well be prepared for disappointment. My phone has it too. I guarantee every Pixel does. Probably because of the subtle curve on the rear glass.

Yeah I'm not going to hold my breath, but the guy who done the video in the first post had two pixels and only one of them done.this. I'll just keep returning them until I get one that works
Google said they didn't know about this but they have forwarded the link to this thread and the YouTube video so they can investigate further.

Do you really believe they are going to eliminate the halo with that approach?
No way. It's a design flaw. The question is how does that digital picture site
give this phone such a high rating and they never saw this in any of their pictures?
This just doesn't add up. I am awaiting the XL to come back in stock to order
but this is a deal breaker for me unless this is a defect on a few phones.

DxOMark actually did mention the lens flare/halo if you read the entire review... they just call it something more technical.
Yes, I fully believe they will be able to correct for this issue, at least SOMEWHAT, in software. I think the question will be whether or not they can actually preserve detail in the area where the flare is occurring. Google has pulled off some amazing feats with this camera just because of its software... they're not going to claim to do something they can't do.

According to Google, yes. The lens assembly is subject to very tight manufacturing tolerances. Every Pixel is going to have this issue.
Got my new phone, and as stated above I still have the flair so I'm really.imterested into what Google can actually do. I'm off to the park with my dog layer so I'll take lots of photos and upload them here if they have any flare issues.
Don't accept this. Take it back to your point of sale. Get another phone. I am so ****ing done with this.
"We completely, retardedly screwed the entire design of our phone and will now make you use a certain camera mode to mitigate (not resolve) the issue in software"
None of you should accept this.
Out of maybe 100 photos I have taken with this phone, you can maybe see it in like 3-4 photos. Only really happens on my end if I am shooting directly into a light source which most photos are pointing away from a light source. It's not like every photo comes out like this.
I am very very happy with this phone and the camera.

Just been to the park and took some photos only one photo out of about 50 had a halo. I believe Google will fix this.
I've added some of the photos i took today.
I just noticed when I'm using Sam's Club scan and go, which scans bar codes, the image on display is curved. I think that is new, as I don't remember it doing that in the past. I just for the first time tried the video modes, and I'm getting that curved appearance on "video", "cinematic" and "modes". Not sure if that is normal, and maybe I have a setting that's not right.
Also, when I shake the phone, it sounds like something is loose inside. I'm wondering if I have a lense that is floating around. Do all the P7P phones have something that rattles around when shaken?
The phone doesnt know it has a curved screen so it isnt anything to do with the screen i wouldnt have thought and the rattling is the periscope lens. all phones with a periscope lens rattle and most phones with a lens assembly that have OIS also rattle to some extent.
When I'm saying curved image.... Everything is good using what I guess is the standard snapshot lense. Other settings give me images and video that looks like it was taken with a fisheye lens. They're are no straight lines on the screen. Everything has a curve to it, edge to edge.
Now, I'm finding if I switch to .5x in video mode, the whole left side of the screen is a blurry mess! Imagine hundreds of horizontal lines running from the left side of the screen to roughly the center of the screen.
If you are using the wide-angle lens you will get some lens distortion, generally it will look like everything is leaning inwards to some degree depending on the phone you are using but what you are describing does sound right at all.
Any chance you can post an image or a screenshot of the blurry mess?

This is a screenshot of when phone is set to video. My phone is being held square to both the floor and walls of the room. Videos have everything curved-looking. I had to crop the image to get it small enough to post. I'd assume the bottom of that TV stand should be a straight line, and that out should be parallel to the 2 bars (zoom and settings) directly below.
Ummm, mine doesn't look anything like that? Something is definitely wrong there.

Seems to me here that for some reason the camera rotated the actual picture in the viewfinder. Like when you hold it horizontally, but the viewfinder is stuck in a vertical orientation. lol

I find out one mistake I made was purchasing through Verizon. Turns out googles warranty for a Verizon purchased phone is quite different than if purchased direct through Google. Google wants me to go through Assurion to get the phone looked at. Nearest Assurion shop to me is not even in the USA. I have to go to Canada, and it's French speaking Canada. If purchased direct from Google, they send me a new phone and then I would send my defective one back. Through Assurion or sent back to Google, I'm going to have no phone for many many weeks I'm told. Thing is I don't have a spare. I traded it in to get this clunker.

The device should still have a one year manufacturer's warranty for defects from Google. This is straight from a rep I dealt with. It took me 4 reps, 2 supervisors, and a total of ~5 hours but I got mine replace eventually for the back glass lifting up. They've gotten really crappy about gatekeeping and letting people who need them get a replacement. but you just need to get to the right rep. Vzw didn't make the phone and Google needs to be accountable if you're experiencing a defect. Just my opinion, but keep pushing them. They tried the exact same thing with me and I'm typing this from my new, and in one singular piece, P7P. Keep at it and don't let them try and pull this garbage customer service thing they're doing lately.
I can send it back to whoever it is that handles Google customer service, but they tell me it will take many weeks to get looked at. Or I can go to Assurion/UbreakIfix for a diagnosis. If Assurion thinks they can repair it, I'll have to let them and be without it for whatever time they may take. Either way, it's weeks. If Assurion says they can't fix it, then I have to get back in touch with Google who tells me I still have to wait without a phone... They won't send me a new one first, before I send in my defective one (that's because I got it through Verizon. I will in the end either wind up with a new phone or this one repaired, but either way I will be weeks or a month without a phone. The only old phones I have are GSM do I can't even pop a SIM into them to use in the meantime.
I might have just found the issue!!!! I went into the camera app's "more settings" panel and turned off "video stabilization". The images on the screen went back to being flat and not curved. I then changed the zoom back and forth multiple times between .5 and the other settings and the hundreds of horizontal lines (video noise?) didn't reappear. Can I ask you guys to check your settings, and enable video stabilization. Then switch back and forth between 5x and 0.5x a few times, and let me know your results???
I'm curious if I'm still the only one, or one of a few with this issue, or if the video stabilization option is problematic for everyone.

I know they told you that but they're just gatekeepers. If you push, you can get them to do the right thing, provided it's an actual hardware issue. They told me the exact same crap and eventually I got a rep who would replace it. The whole point of the gatekeepers is to save Google money and resources at the expense of customer service. Again, vzw didn't make the phone and it's not their problem that Google QC slips sometimes. Totally your call on how to handle it, but being without a phone is not your only option and if you're persistent, they will eventually do right by you. Just gotta work for it, unfortunately. I toggled that setting, per your other post, and I don't have the issue you described.

Same here too.
FWIW the phones warranty information is visible in the phones settings (EU/UK it is 2 years)
After going around and around with Verizon, they consented to replace my phone.
So, the new one arrives yesterday and all of the issues with the first one don't seem to be reappearing with this new one. Great!!!
I had BT, WiFi, volume button, fingerprint, and camera issues with that old one.
I should probably start a new thread, but figured I'd ask here first... It seems with the new one, in settings under Wallpaper & Style \ Wallpaper Colors I go to the third page and select the bright green colors option (top right one). This makes the clock on the lock screen a bright green, just like on the old phone. Thing is, if I turn the phone off, when it turns back on, it's back to the default blue color. I then have to select the green again. Anyone else seeing this issue?
Started noticing the other night that when I was on certain sites that I would get streaks down the screen. They moved with the text on the screen and it was worse with white backgrounds.
Now when my screen goes on or off, the edges flash green and in certain dark screens I can see green streaking down the panel. As a matter of fact when I use the fingerprint reader, the animation that spreads across the screen is now green tinted as well. It's definitely getting worse as time goes on even though earlier today I couldn't see any defects at all!
I have to say this is my first time having a problem with an OLED panel. Since I converted my Tello plan to eSIM, it's going to be a problem if I have to be without my phone for awhile. I guess I better order a Tello SIM card before I start the fight with support to get a replacement. It's been in a Spigen Tough Armor the whole time and the panel isn't cracked nor has it sustained any drops that should have damaged it but I've heard enough horror stories about Google support to know that my buying the phone at Best Buy may end with them refusing to repair it without a huge fight.
Very disappointing.
EDIT: Well at least Tello made the ordering process easy. $2 for the SIM, $5 for 2-3 day USPS shipping. Worst case scenario having it on pSIM I can just stick it in my OnePlus 9 for a bit.
EDIT2: That was way easier to get fixed that I was expecting. I had no issues with the Pixel repair support rep I chatted with and I called two uBreakiFix locations. The one closest to my house didn't have the screen in stock but could order it. The one less than 5 minutes further away had the screen and got it changed in about an hour. Very pleased!

Hmm that's unfortunate.
Has the screen's edge been hit by mistake?
That support fight will be a real joy lol. If you can't get Googs to do the right thing, just keep opening tickets. I'm sure you're aware, but it takes playing the competence lottery to get the right gatekeeper to support their hardware these days. I went through hell with this not that long ago. They're going to try and get you to use some random authorized repair center or send it to them. In both cases, in my area, that would've left me without a phone for over a week. Finally got the right person to replace my defective unit. Best of luck and sorry you have to go through the process. Not that there's many out there, but getting one of the rare lemon devices (user error aside) is always a bit frustrating, considering how expensive these things have gotten.

No. And the interesting thing is it seems to get worse when it's warm. I woke up this morning and the only symptom anything is wrong at all is the green flash but it's barely perceptible, you have to really be looking for it.
I restored the stock software last night since I was on the beta and wanted to make sure it wasn't software. The entire screen was basically pulsing when I fell asleep and all my apps were being restored from backup.

Yeah I'm not looking forward to the fight. I'm also going to have to find a way to reproduce the issue every time since it does appear to be intermittent. If it's caused by overheating like I think it is, that will be easier to get them to replace.
I had my screen replaced once already and it's acting up again. Part of me wonders if it's the onboard GPU as it really freaks out when I play Star Trek Timelines. Sometimes the screen goes dark and comes back if I hit the power button. Other times I've had it go all yellow or yellow and brown and I had to do the power+vol down to get it to reboot.
I like the phone, but I've never had such issues with any other phone I've owned in 25 years of owning a phone.
I'm about ready to RMA and ask for a new phone.

Yeah I have seen your screen/GPU woes.
The thing is, I don't play games on this thing, yet it's doing it anyway. The first time I noticed it was while it was charging and the device was warm so heat seems to be the likely culprit. My phone's temperature usually averages about 30C so it's not like I'm abusing the heck out of it...
I haven't filed a ticket with Google just yet. Would prefer to wait for my new SIM card to come in first.

Often when I plug my phone in to charge, you can see this "wave", for lack of a better term, go up the screen. Like some sort of electrical pulse. The screen gets snowy for a second but it's still readable. I was never sure if it just an animation that it does when it starts charging or if its a hardware issue. It charges fine. Have you experienced that?
I think both the Tensor and screens come from Samsung. Wonder if Samsung had some bad batches and threw them in Google's stuff, or if their QC just sucks.
It's not something I've seen in Samsung phones before - either SD or Exynos based.
I haven't updated to the latest update yet, so I'm not sure if that will help or not.

That is an intentional charging animation.
It certainly does seem like Google has more screen problems than other manufacturers. Just look at all the pink OGs, 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s on Swappa...

I just remember all the pink screens I saw when I was trying to find a decent price on a used Pixel. There were far more pink and heavily burned in OLED panels on the Pixels than anything else. I know they used cheaper LG panels for the early models but still.
Here's video of my Pixel 7 Pro screen flicker.
It gets worse over time and eventually will go completely black after about 15 min of continuous use. The way around this is to let the screen 'rest' for about 15 min, then it acts (mostly) normal.
This has really put a damper on my Candy Crush flow...
I also get this action when charging if AoD is on.
https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1592569921271402496
I've got an RMA request in. They actually had me email this video to them so they decide if they're going to honor my claim.
Oof. I see another class action in Google's future...
My screen did start to flicker when it was setting itself back up after I used the Android Flash Tool and I figured it was going to go out completely if it kept going so I powered it off and went to bed. Got up this morning and it was fine until it warmed up again.
Well I chatted with them and they confirmed that it's a covered warranty repair and I just have to call UbreakiFix and set up an appointment.

Actually didn't even know there was a ramen place in this shopping center and it was the best I've had so I'll be coming back
That was quick! Glad it worked out.

I am starting to wonder if people having issues when not buying from Google are going to Google Store instead of Pixel repair. Dude didn't even ask where I bought it, just what country I bought it in, if I was still in that country, the IMEI, and pictures of the malfunction. It couldn't have been easier.

Well I chatted with them and they confirmed that it's a covered warranty repair and I just have to call UbreakiFix and set up an appointment.

Yeah - they agreed to RMA my phone. I don't mind waiting a few days and sending it in. Maybe they can figure out what went wrong better if they have the phone.
