Hey guys,
1) thanks to many for tips/tricks etc, especially easy root
2) Man this GPS is a pain in my ass. Otherwise, BEAUTIFUL phone. (Day 1, 20 minutes into launch day)
Real problem:
I got weird behavior yesterday, wherein I connected the phone to my laptop (tried them all same prob) and it's configured as auto Mass Storage (I use DoubleTwist) but now I see the device, but NOT the SD cards...
Things recently done that could be a part of the issue, I suppose: installed SDK.
Now, unless I have it in USB dbg, and using Droid Explorer, I can't even friggen' tell it's there!
Any ideas? :/
Also, yesterday on the way home where it suddenly told me the that the SDCARD was invalid... rebooted and it's fine.. but some media arent locating right.
UHg.
Please help if you can, and TYIA
When i had USB Debugging on i couldn't see Drives also , turned that off , and all is back to normal.
And Mass Storage mode on off course. And once connected select Mount SD cards from phone.
I did have some weird issues with mounting/unmounting behavior when I connected the phone to my computer, but when I toggled USB debugging it started working perfectly.
in your phone go to "Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging" and enable that option. This allows both my internal SD and my external SD card to show up. While the phone is connected to the computer, it unmounts those cards from the phone so if you look up your "Settings -> SD card and phone storage" you will see them marked as unavailable. But after disconnecting the phone will remount them.
Well,
I've gone back and toggle usb debugging back on.
As point of fact Astro is now telling me /sdcard is empty, and threw me an error "error creating external cache". Doesn't help that Settings > SD Card and phone Storage > Internal SD card is showing me unavailable.
Oh crap.. :/ guess I might be exchanging soon

This happened to me before I enabled debugging. Simply power down the phone and restart it. It will remount your drives.
I've power cycled this thing so many times over the last day, it'd think a weeks gone by.
New whacky behavior... apparently the included Music Player sees my songs, but DoubleTwist doesn't. Also, about half my MP3's have 4 entries... oh what fun.
Looks like I might just be backing up my contacts, factory reset, format SD and reflash the stock image :/
When connecting to the PC with MTP, it loses the SD card if the PC doesnt properly talk MTP to it. Reboot.
When connecting to my work PC as mass storage, its not even seen on the front ports.
Reboot phone.
Set to USB to Mass Storage.
Install Samsung drivers on PC (needed? idk)
Install DoubleTwist on PC.
Uninstall DT on phone.
Reboot Phone.
Install DT on phone.
Plug into back port of work PC
Working drive.
Oh wtf. Wierd. I'll wax my config at home entirely tonight....
I have spent about 3-4hrs trying to copy a file to my SD card with no avail.
I need some help.
I have in the past been able to explore both internal and external cards on my Captivate with debugging/mounting enabled with iMac OS 10.6.4 (rooted and unrooted).
This is no longer the case. The phone is now stock unrooted. At first, after connecting through usb, it would take several mins to see the internal drive, shortly after the external would appear. All for only a few seconds then OS X would give me an unexpected device removal error and drives are nowhere to be found. Now it does nothing though the thinks that it is connected. Doubletwist also recognized the device but would not be able to explore for media. Kies takes about 3 mins to connect via Parallels VM Win XP.
I have attempted the following:
Formatting both SD cards
Removing the external SD card
Many power cycles on both iMac and Captivate
All combinations of usb settings
Tried all usb ports (read in another thread).
Anyone else having issues or know a workaround for this?

Assuming debugging is on it may be either because the cord you are using is bad OR the android OS formatted the SD card in a non-mac readable format. Or it is something else.
I had this problem yesterday and ended up just using BEX (Bluetooth File Exchange) to move files between my phone and iMac. Took a few minutes to get the two to talk to each other but once it was working the speeds were fine. Might want to give that a shot before you go buying a new SD card or USB cable.
Crazy... I had to connect it through a powered USB hub.
Works like a champ now.
Hi,
One of my family member is suddenly having a strange issue with my previous Samsung Galaxy Nexus S GT-I9023 (crespo) running CyanogenMod 11 (cm-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-crespo) :
When plugged into a computer, the "Activate USB transfer" notification (or whatever it's called in english) no longer shows (it had been working fine before).
Switching storage mode from UMS to MTP or PTP changes nothing.
The computer detects the phone (using dmesg and lsusb). adb shell works fine too and allows me to browse the phone's content.
If I boot to TWRP, I can mount the USB storage just fine.
I double checked on another computer (phone not detected either no USB notification either) and with another cable (same result). I also plugged another phone (different model though) and it worked fine, so the issue lies with the phone, and most probably the booted OS.
Reinstalling CyanogenMod with cache wipe (but not data) changes nothing.
The only thing I haven't tried so far is a full wipe/reinstall, which I'd like to avoid…
Anyone has an idea ?
You could try the latest "nightly" version.
Yes, I could, but what puzzles me is that it DID work in the current version. And since its user is not a power-user (barely smartphone-litterate), I'd like to stay in a stable version.
I'm rooted on OOS 10 on OP7Pro and I have a dashcam in my car and I bought myself a regular USB c sd card reader and EVERYTIME I plug in my dashcam SD card to my Android phone and Android scans it and mounts it for viewing, everything is erased Everytime and idk how to fix or change this....
Any suggestions welcome
Hi,
I'm getting a "Issue with Seagate USB drive" -> "Tap to fix". Then tapping that I can format it and get the message that it was fixed and I can use it.
But actually the issue message just reappears or doesn't disappear. And the only thing I can do is format the drive but not use it.
I tried formatting it as ExFat via OSX. Though not successfully, the issue still pops up.
Is the drive not compatible or the phone can't handle it?
Thanks for your help!
