Hello
I have got recently at work a new Samsung Note 10 lite. Since my company changes devices every year I do not see any reason to change my 1 year old previous model. I want to use new Note 10 lite as private device. Unfortunatly I have some doubts if this new company device has any spy software installed by company to remote manage and content monitoring. I got it sealed but they order houndreds of devices and it is possible to order its with dedicated software. My question is if there is any easy way to check it and confirm with 100% sure that the device is clean? If I ask at company, nobody answer me
thanks a lot

I just bought an HTC X7501 Advantage Windows Mobile 6 PPC Phone. It's unlocked. I'm about to buy new phones from AT&T (as part of a service agreement) and I was thinking about getting the Samsung Blackjack (a Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone (not PPC). If I do this, will I be able to use software that I've purchased for my Advantage on my Blackjack? I can only use one phone at a time, so in my mind it doesn't seem like I'm violating any agreement by installing it on both but I wanted to check to be sure. Also, I'm not sure if PPC software will work on a smartphone.
Any help is appreciated. I just want to make sure this will work and be legal.
Thank you.
1)it will not work
2)it is not legal

It depends on the licensing conditions. If theprogram is tied to a particular username, you can safely transfer it to your next machine, making sure you don't use it on your old. If it's tied to, say, the CPU ID, it can't be.
Also, read the license.
But I only use one machine at a time. You'd think it would be tied to the user.
Anyway... Thanks for the info. I'll plan accordingly. Maybe I'll just not buy as much software if I'm going to run into issues in using it on the device I want.
Please note: since PPCs (like Advantage) and Smartphones (like BlackJack) have different interfaces due to one having a touch screen and one not having it almost all apps have different versions for each.
Some programs only have versions for one or another.
Even if a program can run on both (sometimes it can't at all because of missing components) it would not display properly and would be uncomfortable to use on the device it was not designed for.
Finally, while it makes sense to you that a program would be locked to a user name, from commercial stand point it is much harder to pirate a peace of software that is locked to hardware ID (like IMEI or device serial) so the method is widely used.
I had that problem when I was using my Sony TH55 and my Sony UX50. I was able to install everything, but I had to write to each and every programmer stating my case. They were very helpful and they all gave me new passwords.
It was intoxicating because I had an average of 60-70 apps installed.

It all depends on the licensing conditions. In general, if it's locked to your username, not otherwise stated, you can transfer your old license to your new device if you don't use the old device any more.
With IMEI / CPU ID-based solutions, you must contact the dev for a new license (unless you change your IMEI, which may be preferable if you have tons of IMEI-locked apps).
I recently posted a thread on how I can start programming geared towards the mobile platforms.
I would like to develop apps for more than one mobile platform. However I just have access to an Android device (SE Xperia X10), iPhone 4, and an iPad 2.
Smartphones are not like candies, that you can go pickup at a cheap store.
I mean how and where can I and other people who want to develop apps for specific platforms get free phones for testing and using the apps we develop?
The emulator that is included with the SDKs are not always the best way to test.
Any suggestions? All help is appreciated
EDIT: Forgot to mention that recently Windows Phone called over WebOS developers to develop applications on the WP platform, and Windows gave the developers free devices. But there are not many WebOS devs out there..
The best and fastest way to require a "demo" phone is doing the following.
Just get in touch with the companies that are creating the phones.
Explain your development and give them a nice overview on what your app is, what it does and how things go.
Make sure you don't demand a phone but wish to test run it on certain specific devices with key features that are a "+" in your app.
I think you'll have a chance to receive a demo phone.
Btw don't expect you'll be able to keep that phone forever.
I recently contacted HP to request an Elite-book from them for business usage.
Explained the plans and deals and after a few days i received one.
I need to return it by end of this year.(aawww )
Did same thing for some phones for my company
I think it depends on what you wanna test and how high your requirements are.
Also i think it's best to mail on behalf of someone working in the industry or on behalf of a company.
They had my company info in case of argument.
Sites like XDA got enough rep to request them and be trusted.
Individual guy asking for a phone is "50/50" chance. (depends on the person processing your mail and your info & app your working on)

Hello! I work in the quality assurance department at Novell. We are currently trying to get a better feel for what devices our users have, and what devices corporate users in general have.
We currently have a device wiki and support about 20 phones. We are currently questioning if their are still many Web OS users, and Windows mobile 6.x users.
So let me know what device you, or your co-workers use and what device you want to upgrade to.
Thanks!
(EDIT: I hope this is the right forum for this, I really just need some more insight on this and I'm not trying to spam or anything...)
Hello all,
So I've been tasked to look into the viability of using Android devices within an enterprise environment and I figure I kick off my research by reaching out to the forums.
I've looked at some whitepapers and management platforms such as GOOD and MobileIron. This is just the start as I'm also looking at an acceptable device and OS version. As a big Android fan, I would like every to use a Galaxy Nexus, but I know that is not happening.
I wanted to know if anyone on this forum actually has Android rolled out throughout their enterprise or even using their personal devices to connect to their corporate network.
If anyone has comments, or information I can look into, please let me know!
Well we are doing a project now at my work to install mobileiron. Mostly for IOS but you can add any mobile device to it. There are alot of Mobile device management (MDM) on the market. The difference with android thats alot of this things depend on your android version, if u have a 1.5 u can forget most things. But a galaxy nexus is a sure bet !

Nice to know that Mobileiron can support multiple devices, as we do have a few iOS devices are in our network. As for the Android version, I'm looking at version 2.2 and higher. So far 4.0 is only readily available on the Galaxy Nexus, but the Nexus S is another device I was looking into.

I don't know if you have closed out your investigation on this. I have just seen your post, and I am very interested. I currently use my Android devices to connect to my corporate network via VPN, but I can only access resources only after rooting the devices. Why? Accessing resources (e.g. the ERP) requires that I make entries of IP addresses in the hosts file of the device - much like on the Windows PC. However, the hosts file cannot be edited, unless the device is rooted - which could invalidate the warranty. My company has carried out extensive studies, and I am sad to say that this problem does not exist with iOS. This is the singular reason my company is now leaning towards the iOS (iPhone, iPad) as replacement for the Blackberry.
So, if Google really wants Android to find a place in the enterprise, it must deal with this hosts file issue, or borrow a leaf from iOS.
Hey guys,
I've been looking for a cheap backup phone. My current carrier is T-mobile prepaid.
I'm looking for a phone w/ LTE capabilities, Android or windows 8.1, and must be cheap! I'd say my budget is around 120-130 USD max. I prefer a new handset please (warranty purposes). Any reputable seller is fine.
Some phones I found:
Samsung Galaxy Light
LG F3
LG F6
Nokia Lumia 635
What would you guys recommend?
The question you're asking is complicated. As there are many variables in choosing a device, because every user is slightly different in their needs. The one suggestion I can definitely make is, choose a phone with a good ( strong ) support. It avoids a lot of the pitfalls, and issues related to owning a device. Especially if you plan on Rooting, or Modding the device. Because if an issue arises it is easier to find / get help. As for where to purchase a device I would suggest checking out the link below.

Well from what I'm seeing, there aren't that many phones to choose from in the first place. All I really want is the best overall phone. I don't really care much for rooting and whatnot as this is just a backup phone. The main feature I want is LTE while being cheap. I will mostly use the web browser and watch videos on the go. Nothing too major.
Again, it's a tough task to suggest a specific device. Because as I stated there are many variables. I would suggest making a list of your wants, and needs. Then look for a device with as stated before, good support. Best of luck .
