Help updating to the latest firmware available. SKT V500N - LG V50 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Hi everyone!, I just got my v50 one week ago. It's a refurbished unit. Unlocked South Korea Telecom (SKT) V500N.
Android 10 was preinstalled, June 2020 is the patch.
So far everything seems okay, except that proximity and light sensor failed twice , but a phone restart made those work again. Strange but not a real problem.
Trouble is that Widevine security shows Level 3 instead of Level 1 as the device should be, so I can't watch Netflix in HD.
I already tried factory resetting the unit. But still L3 is showing in DRM Info app.
So as there's not much else to do. I would like to try to update my firmware. LG FIRMWARES shows a newer .kdz for my device.
Coming from a rooted V20, I don't have much experience flashing kdz. I did it once or twice, but I don't really remember the process exactly.
I would like to know if i can "dirty flash" this kdz in LG UP, without having to start over again (factory reset).

no OTA

Ok guess I got an att g3 off craigslist, it was rooted and had custom recovery, don't know if boot loader is unlocked but I decided just to go all stock and did so through LG flash tool and everything is good and its running the 10d software and I tried to uptake to get the 10f but it keeps saying I'm up to date. How do I get the new update and second ant ideas why it's showing up to date if 10f came out shone time ago?
The update rolls out in batches. Since you activated it recently it probably went to the "end of the list" for devices needing to be updated.

[Completed] LG G4 H815T Hong Kong Bootloop problems

Good Morning all,
I am new to this site and it was recommended to me by a friend. I am having some problems with my LG G4. It was bought about a year or two ago, through a third party store (not straight from Amazon or LG but from a cell phone kiosk in my country) and the phone worked great until I started getting some heating problems and then the bootloop problem occurred.
I have googled all the possible fixes, like freezing the phone and trying to backup data, I've read about the hair dryer fix (but haven't tried due to fear or wrecking the phone further) and finally I saw some threads here about using LGUP to flash over the phone with a particular KDZ or TOT.
My question is can anyone help me with this problem in trying to repair my phone and not have to spend money to fix it. I cannot download any KDZ from the links on the site because they show as blank pages in my browser and also if anyone can help me with instructions on how to repair the G4.
I already have the LGUP software. Also what is the difference between Refurbish and Upgrade in the LGUP software?
Thank you so much for any and all assistance.
Hi !
I would recommend you to follow this thread , it looks to be an official method to flash stock roms
Good luck !

On mine: Anti-rollback Version= APPSBL(LK) : 0, SBL1 : 0, TZ : 0, RPM: 0
Not sure what that means...
What's the consensus ? Go or No-go?
Any one care to share their experience? How is it? Everything working? Anything broken(other than the Volte that was mentioned earlier)? Any quirks? Upgrades*(better battery life, more fluid performance, etc) ?
I got a notification the other day for the update too on my US996, but I didn't want to mess up a "good thing", haha... or more over, my V20 is running relatively fine on android 7 for now, thought I'd wait and see feedback before I touch the waters...thanks to those brave pioneers out there who fearlessly try out the latest and greatest updates.
Never rooted it.. and kept to stock firmware.
Everything is working so far on Verizon - once I got VoLTE back (see above - and that would be a deal breaker for me - I was prepping to roll it back). For now - I'd say it's a go.. but I'm also already committed.
My advice - you waited this long.. give it another week or two...
My battery is still settling in for Oreo. Once it settles that I should get more battery Screen on Time.
Overall, its an amazing experience.
Chipster0 and YPG70, thanks for the feedback. I suppose I'll wait a little longer before I upgrade, good to hear that everything seems to be positive; a real upgrade, rather than an "upgrade" that messes things up.
Anyone have any ideas why my unlocked US996 isn't getting an update notification? I'm on AT&T network (if that matters). In fact I'm running 99610d. Security patch of Oct. 1 2016. I thought there was a security update more current than that.
I did try LG bridge before Jan 2019 and it didn't report any new security updates. I'm yet to try LG Bridge now that it seems oreo is finally being rolled out on US 996. I was trying to avoid LG Bridge because I want to avoid losing all my settings (which I believe will happen when you go the LG Bridge route).
Thanks
EDIT: I just ran LG Bridge, and it reports back with "your phone is up to date". When I click OK, and the "your phone is up to date" window disappears, I am then presented with what looks like there is indeed a "new version" dating 12.11.2017. However, it states that I must go to the Update Center settings on my phone to do the update. But when I do that, my phone says I'm on the latest...
Ended up online chatting with LG support. Spoke with two of them who were adamant that LG doesn't push OTA firmware's and that it must be through the carrier (despite my phone being the unlocked version). They also said LG Bridge is for Android 6.0 and lower (despite LG bridge being the software specified at the v20 US 996 website). Anyway, with ridiculous statements like that, I knew I wasn't going to get any help from them. I ended up downloading the firmware from the link (thanks!) and using uppercut to flash the downloaded. So I'm happy to report that I am now running Oreo and haven't encountered any issues so far.
Can this be safely installed on US996 UCL?

"No signal" on G955W/U - what options ?

Hello everyone,
So I have been using my canadian G955W (Rogers, but I've been using it in France, if that matters) for a couple of years now, until I got an OTA September 2020, which apparently bricked the modem as described in this thread .
Back then I didn't have time to try any fixes, apart from factory reset, but it still didn't work. Weirdly, a couple of weeks later (late November), when I tried to put back my SIM it worked fine again.
Then I kinda forgot about it and got a new OTA in January 2021 and had the bad idea to update it - so again the same problem : no signal.
So I tried to flash an older version and also the newest version of the firmware (as suggested in the thread above), using Odin v3.13.1 but wasn't able to install anything older than G955WVLU8CTF3 (August 2020), probably because of the bootloader version (?), and still no signal.
I also tried to flash a US version of the firmware (latest one G955USQS8DTJ1), so now I have a G955U, but still no signal.
I'm kindof a noob in all this (sorry for that), but still would like to fix my phone, as the rest is working really fine.
Would you have any advice on what I could do next to find a workaround ?
- I've been willing to root my phone, so should I try this method which also will go to V7 bootloader ? https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...e-snapdragon-g955u-u1-v8-bootloaders.4128321/
But I'm kind of hesitant, since there's quite a risk of bricking my phone completely..
- Is there another way to go back to an older firmware version ?
- Also what version of Odin works best for the G955W/U ? I have the feeling that v3.13.1 fails quite often with my device.
Thanks a lot for any help !

LG v50 Sprint v450pm can not update OTA or flash stock rom

I have a problem with my phone that I cant be updated. I found many times on internet about its rom, on lg fanclub but there's no kdz file for v450pm. Can you guys help me with this problem??? I went to setting and it show software version v450p10n although my friend also have a LG v50 v450pm like me but his phone show v450p20h and android 10. Can u guys show me the tip?? Lots of thank!!
here is kdz file for v450pm: Firmware LG V50 ThinQ 5G LMV450PM for your region - LG-Firmwares.com (lg-firmwares.com) there's nothing
and here is kdz file for v450vm: Firmware LG V50 ThinQ 5G LMV450VM for your region - LG-Firmwares.com (lg-firmwares.com) there are 3 files kdz!!!
Sprint(v450pm) phones don't usually have their kdz published. So you can't update or downgrade using that method. I also have the phone and I got OTa to 20h in December. Have you modified the phone in any way? Root, uninstalled system apps, etc? You can try clearing data of "FOTA update", all 3 "software update" and "update center" , restart the phone and try searching for new software again. If it dose not work, you may have to try a factory reset of the phone.

I got the exact same model as yours, but sim unlocked, open box never used, about 10 days ago.
Because i use it in Europe,i was really worried if it was going to get any further updates beyond android 9 with which it came from the seller i bought it.
After a lot of searching here and there before buying it,most people, and the seller included, where assuring me that it would get android 10 and every OTA updates in future, because Sprint roms are not completely locked like AT&T for example.
Everyone said that i would get the updates as it should, but i could not flash any rom because Sprint never publish it's roms.
Someone suggested me not to install my carrier's sim card when i power on tge phone, and let it just connect via wifi, saying that this way is more safe to get updates.
The reason why should i do that,he explained me,is because sometimes our carriers implement their set up or something like this,in our device, through the carriers settings app,and with that way we couldn't get updates.
Long story short, when i got the phone,i just powered it on,without inserting my sim card, and right after the set up,i got the first update notification, which was upgrade to android 10.
After this first update,i continiously took 3 more updates, one after the other in an hour, with my final update to be v20h December 2020.
So my opinion is if you don't mind, try and factory reset your phone, backing up first,in case something goes wrong, and set it up again from scratch, without your sim card..just give it it's time to connect to LG servers.
I hope it helps.

thank you. i bought another phone, k20 pro. it's ez for me to flash, up anyrom i want. really love this. i hate lg from now
I wanted a custom rom until none of them supports the quad dac, even if i get a next device I'll still keep the v50 as a dedicated music device with a 512 SD card. I'm on sprit version and it updated to v450p20j yesterday, fingers crossed for 11 but LGs history for updates is a gamble.
