UNLOCKED my U.S. Cellular Samsung Galaxy S8 plus but still says...

On most carriers my phone is not compatiable what do I need to do to get this phone onto any network? I had it unlocked by a very well respected website plz help o and the model isSM-G 955U I JUST bought the straight talk BYOB can anybody help greatly appreciated
Go back to that respectable company that gave you the unlock code and asked them why.You paid for a service and you didn't get what you expected. That should have been your first step. They will check with you 1st if the phone is really unlocked or not.Good luck.
Your device might be a CDMA one. Thus, you will not be able to use it on all networks.
What is the network of the SIM card you are trying to use?

All of the North America (Snapdragon) S8 (and plus) have all NA bands, including CDMA. It's the Exynos (European and Asian) variants that do not support CDMA.

You are correct. The S8 is CDMA capable.
USCC S8 is unlocked out the box, I had s6 that work on ATT and Tmobile by go into setting -> connect -> force it switch to Global/GSM. The problem I have with all these CDMA phone unlock for GSM is can't get MMS and the most annoying thing is someone in the state call it kept thinking as internaltional call. Example like 201xxxxxxxxx, the phone think 20 is from Egypt.
Hopefully, S8 is will do what iPhone can..... fix the area code issue.

So basically the new S8 should support both CDMA and GSM right?

Correct for the US (snapdragon) version. The Exynos version does not support CDMA.
Edit: See posts #10 and #12 below for clarification from @zelendel.

That depends on where in the US you are. All devices in my state are Euro devices and none are the US model. Even the Straight talk devices are Euro models.

Really? I didn't know that. My understanding was that all major US carriers were only selling snapdragon variants. And the big box stores, as well.
Would you mind sharing what state you are in, and who sells the Exynos version in the US?
Thanks....

I live in Alaska. As for the major US carriers. Yeah well we have ATT and verizon just got here but they are both thinking about leaving (not the first time) People in this state prefer Companies founded in the state so our biggest carrier is GCI. I am used by alot of devs to get the "good" devices without them having to pay stupid shipping. But you can walk into any store here and buy the euro device. Even walmart.

Glad I could help. It freaked me out as well the first time I found this out. Being here gave me the ability to get a Samsung devicewith a snapdragon chip and an unlockable bootloader. Mid you that was a few generations ago but I keep tabs on what they are offering in case someone hits me up to get them one.
Also helps that there is no sales tax here.

Try to use another SIM card from a GSM provider (att or tmob) and at the same time, insert your present SIM card in another device to see if it works.

Check your imei. If it is wiped you won't be able to connect
Uhuuu. That would be bad. IMEI can be wiped only by a custom rom correct? Bad or wrong recovery etc.

Depending on the device. Samsung devices are known for self corruption. That has been their MO since windows mobile.
It shows what my imei is and it says my phone number and everything just not be no service circle

Does the T-Mobile OnePlus 8T not have Always-On Display available?

I was lucky enough to get my 8T in the mail today, and one of the first things I wanted to enable was Always-on Display. It doesn't seem like it's available on the T-Mobile variant of the device.
On the reviews I've seen, there is an option called "when to show" in the Ambient Display section to either schedule your AOD or have it on all the time. I have attached two screenshots, one from Android Authority's review and one from my device. The setting is not available.
Let me know if you have any ideas!

There seems to be a lot of incorrect information out there about the T-Mobile variant. GSM Arena lists the OnePlus 8T+ 5G as being dual-SIM, which it isn't. That's probably just someone's lazy copy and paste mistake, but still. T-Mobile lists n24 as one of the 5G bands, which I think is a mistake as well. No one from T-Mobile has gotten back to me on that though. It seems to lack n5 and potentially n24 should have been n25, but getting the facts seems to be a challenge.
Edit: Also, the T-Mobile firmware for the device more than likely doesn't support the OnePlus Buds either. The OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 8 with T-Mobile firmware do not support the OnePlus Buds natively.
FCC says n5 and n25 are supported

Yeah. That is what I read as well. Maybe T-Mobile will correct their website but probably not.
Yeah no always on display on the T-Mobile version...
Does the unlocked version have Google dialer and messages by default? The T-Mobile version has the oneplus apps for both.
Yup I can confirm. Just got my Tmo 8T today and there is no option to have AOD on at all times.
AOD will probably come in an OTA. When I got the Tmo 7pro, it didn't have DC dimming out the box. Waited a few months for the update to hit
Nothing here!
I've also received my oneplus 8t today from T-Mobile, well technically yesterday and been trying to activate aod all day, just couldn't find anything... Hope something comes up soon-
One strange thing I've noticed is when charging AOD is on. Only when charging

Funny thing is the the T-Mobile variant software is a higher number 11.1.0.2 vs 11.0.1.2 for the unlocked variant, strange
Do we know if the difference between tmo and global variant will make it not possible to covert it to global f/w like I did on my tmo 7T?

It should be able to be converted like any other OP variant. There is nothing different hardware wise between the 2 as far as anything I have read besides the IP rating.

I swear saw a post here with him offering it but when I went back it was gone. Either he deleted it or it was on another 8 series forum. Either way I got tmo to unlock mine... Now just waiting on OnePlus to pull their heads out of their asses.

I have an unlocked 8T (UK) and I have the Google dialler and messages app as defaults, but strangely I don't have the OP apps.

Ordered an unlocked 8T and am a T-Mobile customer.

I pre-ordered the unlocked 8t before I knew T-Mobile was releasing their own version. I'd like to know if there are any 5G performance features that the T-Mobile version has that the unlocked version doesn't. I searched around and one place said the only difference is software-related. Would I be better off returning the unlocked 8t and buying the T-Mobile version?
Just depends on what your needs are. The unlocked version will get 5G service just fine. T-mobile version claims to optimize the network, however I'm not 100%sure about that. If you're wanting easy bootloader unlock and flash custom roms the unlocked might be the better way to go, otherwise the t-mobile version is fine as this is the variant I have.
I'm sure my rambling didn't help you much.

And not everyone has an easy time at obtaining an unlock code from T-mobile either. ..

@bbowman I have T-Mobile too and I've Supported OPO, OP3, OP3T, OP5, OP6T Global and now OP8T Global. I've always bought the Global Ed and have had no issues using them on the T-Mobile network. The only differences I saw between the T-Mobile version of the 6T and the Global was the T-Mobile ver got Network "Improvement" updates to "better" tune the software to work with T-Mobile Towers and it only had 1 SIM slot. With the 6T once it was unlocked it could be flashed with a Global Firmware.
Should be fine
Currently on the unlocked OnePlus 8 Pro on T-Mobile. I get all the 5G, including the standalone (after getting an R15 SIM card from the nearest T-Mobile store). You shouldn't have any issues with the unlocked 8T (mine will get delivered today) in terms of 5G, and you get the flexibility of dual-SIM. Win-win.

Mine arrived yesterday and I was surprised to see that I had 5G coverage (central Orange County, CA)! My SIM card is many years old, will I somehow get better 5G service if I swap in a newer card?
Yeah, I was getting 5G just fine. The newer SIM lets you access the standalone 5g network (when available), which I believe should give you even better downloads/uploads and lower latency. It doesn't share the frequency band with 4G, is the thing. As I understand it, anyway.
In my practical experience, I popped in the new SIM and got 400MBps standing outside the T-Mobile store. I hadn't seen that previously.
I'm sure it's fine without, but if you're near a store, it can only improve what sounds like is already a good experience for you.

Thanks I didn't know that about the new sim version. I got international on t mobile. My 7t is international and I been with tmo for 14 years. I noticed with 7t and now 8t, visual voicemail NEVER works unless I have the tmo version. My 6t was tmo version, won't make that mistake again, but nonetheless, I was curious, does yours work? And my rcs is on and off bi weekly, always connecting, or trying.

It been said most people are able to get it bypassed via Tforce (twitter T-Mobile support) as long as ypur nice to them. Thats what im gonna do when i get mine tommorow and have the imei. It looks like the only requirement in order to request the bootloader unlock code is having it sim unlocked (with up to 2 day waiting for the unlock file for bootloader).

I did the same thing with the TMo 6T. In-app visual voicemail was the only advantage. I just use the T-Mobile visual voicemail app since then, and it's mostly fine. As for RCS, mine has been connected solid side I set the phone up. Maybe try clearing cache/storage on Messages/Google Play Services?

Yes I have just accepted no visual voicemail, oneplus customer service sucks and can't understand what I'm telling them. Confused at whether I'm saying I have a tmo variant or not. I have not had one, for 6t or 7t.
Rcs I have got working. Had to opt out on the online form, then turn it off for a while and disable carrier services.

I'm pretty sure Xfinity uses Verizon, and the 7 Pro 5G doesn't really work with Verizon based carriers. I think there was a workaround to get it working on Verizon, but I'm unsure about other carriers.
