[Xiaomi Redmi 9][MIUI11] HW+ Decoder not working + other decoder issues - MX Player

I have recently bought Redmi 9 after using Redmi 4x for 3 years with MX Player and was working without any issues. With the Redmi 9 MIUI11, i found HW+ Decoder is not working at all with Mi Equalizer and MX Player gets completely muted when using Phone App (Stock Google one). Redmi 9 is based on MediaTek G80 processor as well.
It's kind of weird considering i used Redmi 4x (Snapdragon 438) and had absolutely no issues with MX Player. i tried reporting it to Xiaomi's Community forum and people there don't understand anything at all.
I can supply a video for demonstration if you want as well.

What video are you have problem using the Equalizer with, do standard H.264 8-bit play OK
I have the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro and everything plays in HW+ and the Equalizer works fine.

No video output on Xiaomi mix 2s

I have Mx player pro. Just got a new phone (Xiaomi mix 2s) and I don't get video output (just audio and a black screen).
I reinstalled the app, tried sw / hw / hw+ decoder, no difference.
On the Xiaomi forum other users have no issues.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Ignore... Video output was disabled (by default?!) in the app.
Solved!

On the playback screen, Open Menu » Display & Enable Video. You might have turned off the Video Output accidentally.

MX Player Incompatible with OP7 Pro at high playback speeds?

Does anyone use MX Player Pro with the Oneplus 7 pro and playback speeds higher than 1.75x?
Playback speeds up to 4x works okay with all my other phones and my galaxy buds but on the 7 pro the audio cuts off a lot on any speed over 1.75x the higher the speed the worse the cut offs.
I'm used to listen everything between 2x and 3x so this is really bad news from me as I don't know any other player that gets close to Mx Player Pro
If I use the youtube app and select 2x the audio is fine, it only happens with MX player pro so far
I don't understand decoders but I've played with a lot of different settings without success but I might be using wrong settings?
no one listens to anything on any speeds higher than 1.5x???
..
post your bugreport to the devs

I just checked and no problems here.
I have HW+ enabled for local play, and sounds comes out allright at whatever speed settings I select.
One thing thou, I have not selected any sound codecs to be reproduced thru HW+ decoding.
Hope it helps
Edit.: ohhpppps, just noticed this is a very old post.

H.264 10bit hardware acceleration (HW) works

Hello MX Player developers,
I can confirm that H.264 10bit video files on my Android devices work in HW and HW+ without artifacts or video image problems. The playback is clean and smooth. Hardware Decoder works fine with H.264 10bits.
To enable H.264 10bits video codec for HW and HW+ I have to make this setting. Settings -> Decoder -> HW+ video codecs -> H.264 10bits
The problem is that MX Player does not add this text for H.264 10bits (Hardware accelerated) by default on these Android devices that support this codec, and is automatically selected like the other supported video codecs.
Please add to next MX Player version.
- Test file - H.264 10bit (Hi10P, 1080p, mkv)
- MX Player: 1.26.7 (August 10, 2020)
- OS: All my Android devices with Android 10 and stock rom.
# It works with Hardware Decoder (HW and HW+) without artifacts or video image problems.
MediaTek Helio G90T
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8
Kirin 980
Huawei P30
Kirin 990
Huawei P40
# Does not work:
Exynos 9820
Samsung Galaxy S10
Snapdragon 855
OnePlus 7
Snapdragon 865
OnePlus 8
Here are some more Android devices that I haven't tested but should be able to because use the same processor.
MediaTek Helio G90T

Kirin 990

Not to forget the H.264 10bit support is not only in MX Player. But the hardware decoding also works in standard browser app, gallery app and video app on the supported Android devices I tested. There are no playback problems, everything runs smoothly and no artifacts.
Just like my H.265 (HEVC) 10bit 1080p video files
Yeah, My Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro phone that has an "MediaTek Helio G90T" plays 10-bit H.264 in HW+ great, Been using it for a few weeks even though you have to manually select it.
Same with my Teclast M30 Tablet that uses an "MediaTek Helio X27 MT6797X" play`s 10-bit H.264 in HW+ as well.
Not able to get hw acceleration with matepad 10.4.
My P30 works fine though.
Really nice. My Huawei Mate 40 Pro (Kirin 9000) runs 4K 10-bit H.264, 4:2:0 smoothly with hardware decoding.

[Question] Facing problems while playing HEVC/x265 videos on Redmi 9 Power/ 9T (MX PLAYER PRO)

So I started noticing slightest lag while playing videos of x265 codec in MX Player Pro, the lag was not too much but noticable. Earlier I had no problem playing the same codec videos but recently there is a lag. My device uses software decoding to play x265 videos. I just wanted to know that can the software decoding weaken over time? I've already posted a thread on the device forum but sadly didn't get a single reply so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Realme 9 pro, MX player does not support decoder HW+

Hello,
I have a Realme 9 Pro.
I have a problem playing videos with MX player.
I use MX Player to watch 4k 60 fps video with 100mbits Bitrate.
When I open MX player and choose the HW+ Decoder it tells me it is not supported.
How is it possible that a Realme 9 pro does not support the HW+ decoder?
I need the HW+ decoder to watch videos recorded with the DJI osmo pocket.
With my old Asus zenfone max pro m1 I can use the HW+ decoder and see 4k videos smoothly.
Without HW+ the videos are jerky.

Sometime MX player give this error for particular type of videos, try enabling it for another simple video and see if the issue persists.
HW+ decoder is for network play only.
If supported then this is true
HW+ video Codecs: Individual codecs like H.263 Hardware accelerated, H.264 Hardware Accelerated, H.264 10 bits, H.265 Hardware accelerated, H.265 10 bits, MPEG-4, VP8, and VP9 can be checked and applied for use.
HW+ Audio Codecs: A range of audio codecs like AAC, AMR NB, AMR WB, FLAC, G.711 A-law, G.711 μ-law, GSM, MP3, Opus, PCB, and Vorbis are available for selection.
All those codecs come with MX Player.
I also use HW+ offline on my asus zenfone max pro m1.
In the micro sd I load videos in 4k and i can watch them with HW+.
With the realme 9 pro I can't use hw+, it says not supported
@Ohdude
I tried and hw+ works.
But when I watch a video filmed with DJI osmo pocket it says hw+ not supported.

IMO the issue reported isn't related to MX Player but to the ROM installed on the Realme 9 Pro.
But of course you can add Custom Codecs: look inside here
