I just bought unlocked verizon s10e and flashed G970U1-XAA firmware to remove bloat wares and have official samsung experience.
However, "Service provider SW ver." still shows VZW. I learned CSC can be changed with Samkey, but does not want to go that far if there is a easier way or keeping VZW doesn't affect anything like OTA updates and possibly some features/software.
I'm on Cricket.
Will there be a issue with VZW CSC code?
Doing a factory reset changed CSC code for first and second section, showing AIO/AIO/VZW.
Apparently, ODIN updating to XAA firmware with SIM card installed wasn't good enough.
And I just got a OTA update for August 1. So, I guess everything is good for now.

I've tried flashing BTU - the SIM free firmware - with ODIn, and whilst it seems fine, updates don't seem to work. I have factory reset after every flash yet still software updates don't work. I know this because the version of BTU firmware I flashed was at least three versions old. When I check for updates I just get 'your software is up to date' - yet there are at least three newer versions of BTU on Sammobile.
The only thing I can think is that the low-level Computrace software that Samsung allegedly puts in their firmware is messing with the updates server. I know that Computrace still exists in the App Manager when I flash BTU. I've also just flashed 5.1.1 and it's still there.
I'd like to know if anyone with an EE S6 has managed to successfully get updates after flashing to a stock ROM, or if EE have crippled it. I wouldn't mind using EE's firmware as there is next to no bloatware; but their updates are horribly slow.
I should point out that I have never rooted the phone and the KNOX counter is not tripped. I've only ever flashed official firmware.
Thanks.
It could be your CSC is still pointing to EE and not BTU?
Nope, CSC shows as BTU when I boot into recovery.
I recently bought an unlocked AT&T Samsung S20 ULTRA 5G (SM-G988U), it doesn't get any OTA updates, I found out that I would need an AT&T sim card to do so but I'm not an US resident, so I can't get one.
Since AT&T doesn't publicly publish their firmware files and I want to update my phone, I was wondering if flashing my phone using another firmware with a different CSC code like USC (US cellular), would be risky or is it a safe procedure?
This would be my first time doing this procedure and that's the only part that really got me thinking.
Thanks!
U firmware is identical, no matter which carrier it's from. So if AT&T's latest release ends in UH2 and there is also a UH2 firmware from US Cellular, flashing it would be just like flashing the AT&T firmware, if it were available
Also have same question I have Samsung S20 . SM-G988U , service provider software version SAOMC_SM-G988U_OYN_ATT_RR_0018ATT/ATT/ATT Baseband Version G988USQS2SUE2, I am not able to get new updates as I am not in US, I need suggestion which firmware of android 12 I should update on my phone.
A question from a noob here. I have a T-Mobile S22 Ultra phone which is network unlocked. As I recently I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon, I'm missing some of the features that are Verizon specific, while not needing anything that is T-Mobile specific anymore. From what I understand, Samsung installs multi SCS firmware on most of the phones these days, which can be changed by a dialer code. That however did not work at all.
Another option I've come across is by flashing provider specific (in my case Verizon) firmware as long as firmware version is the same (S908USQU2AVDC). There are a number of articles on how to do it by using Odin. The issues is no matter what I do and what files I select (like by using CSC file instead of HOME_CSC with or without flashing USERDATA file as well) the result is the same. It shows success and reboots and then reports an error and does the full factory reset which ends up back on T-Mobile version.
The question I have if it's even possible? And if so what I'm doing wrong here. Unlocking a bootloader is not really an option for me...

In theory, flashing the correct firmware (VERIZON) should work. I would honestly first wipe the device, then flash (clean, not dirty) the Verizon firmware and setup accordingly. I had a similar case with a TMBILE unit (I had changed carriers) and I had managed to use XAA CSC and then when I reverted to TMOBILE SIM it would not "restart and install carrier updates". I had to basically switch the unit to U1 and then revert to U and it finally pulled all the TMO crap.
I may be mistaken since I haven't done this type stuff since S10, but I think you need to first reset the device and flash the unlocked version then when you put the verizon sim in it should provision it. Then you can flash the verizon package if you want the bloat apps. The features may be hit or miss. You may need to activate the features on the verizon website. Some features may never work as the carrier wont push them to IMEI not in their database of branded phones. There may be things you can do in hidden settings with "Activity Launcher" or other methods.
I'm here trying to figure out the same things for Tmobile and a factory Unlocked phone, before I buy.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions guys! I managed to do what I wanted. This is what I ended up doing, first flashed the unbranded U1 version on my phone and on the first boot Verizon sim was provisioned. Then I flashed Verizon firmware and it worked!
Hey, first post so sorry if I say anything off lol.
I have a G996U purchased from Verizon that I flashed to U1 firmware like 2 years ago when I first got it, and have had no issues since. I had a OTA software update the other night that seems to have triggered a carrier lock in my phone. The phone works fine for 5 minutes, then I get a popup telling me the phone is locked and to contact Verizon, despite the phone being from Verizon and running a Verizon sim. I went to them and unfortunately nothing they did could resolve it (new SIM, eSIM, etc), so they shipped me a new phone via insurance. I'm wondering though if I could save myself the hassle of transferring everything and do an in-place flash on the phone to see if that clears up the issue. I am already on the newest firmware (G996U1UEU5EWB1), so I can't upgrade, but I was wondering if I'd be able to flash the same firmware already on the phone while keeping all my data. Thanks.
Yes, just flash with home_csc.

Thank you, just also want to ask bc I'm actually not sure which software to go for. I thought I had flashed XAA long ago, and I'm definitely on U1 firmware, but when I check "Service provider software version" in settings, it says VZW rather than XAA. Is it safe to download XAA firmware for a reflash or should I just do VZW to be safe?
You can flash any csc firmware.
I recently bought a note 10+ and i am not getting any updates since 2021 , although security patches are rolling out for the device as late as feb 2023, so i found that flashing the phone to a newer version is my only option, now i just needed to know the csc of my phone which is OYN, which isnt carrier specific, looking for this specific csc online i couldnt find any firmware with csc OYN for the model, i only found carrier specific frimwares, anyway i continued searching for people having the same issue as me, i found that some people where flashing there U firmware phone with U1 with XAA csc. i just want to make sure it is safe bacuase i dont want to brick my new phone.
phone info:
Model number: SM-N975U
CSC: N975UOYN7FUI6
Service provider software version: XAA/XAA/SPR
Looks like unlocked, modem/PDA/ changed, CSC changed, and Updates disabled. Check IMEI through Samsung website some of the regions on the website will work for the IMEI warranty check to give you more info about the device. From that you should at least know some info which is the official firmware.
There are unlock services through server, supposedly however I can not vouch for any of these.
Eventually you can try Unlock bootloader, if that works, there is the most hope to try firmware.
If calls work and you can hear the other side and they can hear you, keep the software and give it away to a family member to play with if you need a more secure device.
