I know this device is still relatively new & therefore the scene is quite new too. Is there any method to unlocking the bootloader without an unlock key. I really just want root to get the full potential of customization. I came from the OnePlus 6t & there was a tool that was able to easily unlock the bootloader, flash TWRP & root all with a couple clicks. No unlock key or token needed. All that was required was to be on international version of OOS because I had a T-Mobile version. Any information on helping me figure out if it's possible to unlock the bootloader without an unlock token would be appreciated.
Just got the Sprint OP8 today, looking for that info as well. Basically want to root and get access to hotspot without losing any important functionality. Doable?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Looking for some advice........I've just bought an Honor View 10 and I want to root it (just to use Apps that require root access), i.e. I don't need to flash any images etc as I'm not installing a new ROM
Is this possible straight out of the box? i.e Phone still has a locked Bootloader
If so, is there a guide somewhere on how to do this? ......Cheers!
You should really do some research before asking. Your answers are out there, just look for them.

You REALLY shouldn't have bought any Huawei/Honor device since they no longer give out bootloader unlock codes.
The only way to unlock now is through paid services, so if you still can I suggest you return it and get a phone from another manufaturer like OnePlus or Xiaomi
I know other phones are easier to root since Honor/Huawei aren't giving out Bootloader codes anymore, but that didn't really answer my question though......Is it possible to just root the phone without a Bootloader Code (just root, no flashing)..

No it is not possible. The bootloader code is needed to root/flash. You can like the previous person, spend some cash to get the bootloader code. Hope that helps?
Thanks for the reply, was hoping for a different answer though! Cheers...

No worries, wish the answer was different. Still without root this phone is amazing
Hi folks. I'm researching a way to root my verizon sm-j337v. So far i've had no luck in finding a way. I've noticed that there is no option for oem unlock in dev options. I'm fairly new to this and have never rooted a phone before. I had an lg phoenix 4 that i was able to install twrp recovery and magisk on. I ended up losing the lg before i could root it though. Anyways i love the challenge of trying to root one so if you guys could possible help me out with this samsung i'd highly appreciate it. Also if you need more info on the phones software etc just lemme know. Thanks

Is there a way to unlock the bootloader and root the OnePlus 7 Pro from T-Mobile, if gotten through like the Jump on Demand program? Not paid off yet.
I thought someone here was allowing you to text him or her your phone number and IMEI and they'd unlock it for you, not sure if that has something to do with then being able to unlock the bootloader?
Yes. Gotta unlock first. Send your devices phone number and last name of account holder..wait a couple of days and you will receive a private message on XDA..then use the unlock app to unlock

Then you can move forward with bootloader unlock, root etc etc

Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules by linking..lol
I do want to add that I converted from the newest T-Mobile OOS to the newest international version of OOS. In the guides it will tell you in what order to do all this.
I'm not trying to be rude, I'm really not but a simple search in this forum would absolutely give you all the answers needed

Thank you for the links and quick response, much appreciated It's nice to have friendly helpful XDA members.
I thought the T-Mobile phone could be rooted with that sim unlock thing, just wasn't super sure.
You're welcome friend. The Sim unlock is just the first step. While you are waiting for the unlock, check out the process and in what order to do things to obtain root. There is a thread in the guides section that tells you in what order to do things, E.G. unlock Sim, upgrade to international version of oxygen, root, unlock bootloader, install magisk, and twrp (not necessarily in that order). I did not install twrp as I don't need it. I only installed magisk after Sim unlock, upgrade to newest international version of oxygen, root and bootloader unlock (not necessarily in that order)
Hopefully this helps
I was reading through and people say the OEM was locked. Has anyone found a work around to this I want to get this phone for the mod friendliness however if the OEM unlocking is locked it would be impossible. Any work around? I really want to have access to hotspot with no issues
Not currently. I don't have the phone yet, ordered Friday probably won't be getting it til Monday. If it seems impossible to root, I'll trade it in for the note 10+.
Unfortunately not. You either have to meet Sprints requirements for them to unlock it (phone paid in full and active for 60 days or more on their network) or we have to wait and see if an amazing devs can help us out.
Wait does that mean that sprint will actually unlock the phone for you? If they do, is root possible or would someone still have to develop something for it?

Pretty sure the post about Sprint unlocking the device is confusing SIM unlock with bootloader unlock. Which of course are 2 very different things. I've never heard of carriers having anything to do with unlocking the bootloader. But unlocking the SIM, yes (they have to by law now).
Otherwise, the requirements stated would not be that hard to meet, and plenty of folks would already be unlocking their Sprint 7 Pro bootloaders.
Unlocking the bootloader is the main barrier to root. I don't see why (with an unlocked bootloader) you couldn't just root with one of the existing methods (flash patched boot img with fastboot, or boot TWRP and flash Magisk) and no real development would be needed. But it's that locked bootloader that is the kicker!
So is there any no root workaround for use of the native hotspot on the sprint version of this device?
Or would we just have to use an app?
I bought a oneplus 7 pro without paying much attention to the fine print. The phone apparently has an IMEI issue and it locked to T-mobile. I want to use it in UAE, is there any way I can unlock it and use it here. It has already been shipped and I can't cancel my order.
PS: Can I unlock my bootloader and install custom roms.
Dinner... You should be able to unlock the bootloader and root it, but it will remain Sim-locked to t-mobile. There are services online that will unlock it from the t-mobile network.

I think there might be a way actually. Haven't personally tried it, but many have said it works. It looks like on the the Android 10 Developer Preview 3, you can actually bypass the token, and unlock the bootloader! I'm not sure if the phone would still technically be SIM locked to T-Mobile (if you wanted to use another carrier), but honestly have no idea. But at least from what it sounds like you should be able to unlock the bootloader, and flash custom roms.
Check out these posts, and the main XDA article that has instructions:

You still need an unlock token from OnePlus to unlock the TMO model, even on global firmware. It takes about a week from request to processing. You can get around it by flashing the A10 DP3 OTA, and it won't check for the token.

I bought an extra 7 Pro since It was only $450 through T-Mobile. If you're looking for a way to unlock the bootloader as soon as you get it you can. You can follow the guide here. It worked perfectly on mine:
