I guess there's no way to root the Huawei Mate 30 Pro so far and no custom ROMs are avaliable. Is that correct? Got my Mate 30 pro yesterday and would like to have a working ROM with GMS. I did install GMS but still not everything works.
Unfortunately bootloader can't be unlocked, no root, no custom roms.

was it the backup & restoring method that you managed to install GMS ? could you please tell me that whether the data in sdcard was wiped or not after restoring from the backup. i havent try out yet cause not sure about it and afraid of re-installing everything again.
Data in external storage will be fine, it is the internal that gets overwritten. When I attempted this for the nth time,I had enough of it so used multiple cards, one too install gms and the other to restore other data before o did the hard reset. External was intact but for the gms it had to be installed Friday as it needed the lzplay and permissions.
hi nice info
hello Skamath, why installed Friday?

Hi all.
Hope someone can help me. When I got my Samsung S8+, I quickly installed TWRP and then rooted it with magisk the same day I received it.
After that I removed a LOT of bloatware and installed hundreds of apps and everything was fine for 6 months.
One day it gave me a weird lock error, because I think I accidentally removed the OEM Unlock and the phone went crazy.
I had no phone for a few days but eventually I managed to flash stock rom and phone went back to normal.
I lost root, but I managed to keep all my data.
Now I want to see if I can get root again. However, all the tutorials to get TWRP require that I wipe my phone.
My questions are:
Can I root my phone without wiping all my data? Is there a chance that my bootloader is unlocked already or did flashing stock rom remove that?
If I have to wipe my data, how can I keep all my apps (and the app data). I have Titan Backup but that needs root to work so I don't see how to save the app data?
Thanks
Here is the query result using your basic question. . .

Inorder to root, you need twrp and in order to get twrp working you need to wipe everything first.
I don't know if there is the possibility to backup app data without root, however i found this articel.
Just because I'm curious, which apps are important for you to have a local backup? I went through all my apps and didn't found a single app which isn't either naturally stored in the cloud (like whatsapp, FB, Snapchat,..) or has the function to export/backup things like tasker. :fingers-crossed:
Hi Jaannis.
I have a lot of apps that do not store their data in the cloud but locally in the phone. Without being too specific, some of these are notes, some are social apps (connections with hundreds of different people around the world with conversations, pictures and videos) and some are personal collected data.
I managed to migrate all the data the last 5 years using Titan and I think it's silly after managing to save them suddenly to lose them. On the other hand it kind of looks like there is no other way. Without Titan backup working, I will need to lose everything.
Hi all,
As you all know Android rolled out the new 9 pie Update on all xiaomi devices.
After updating my mi a2 lite became the crappiest phone on earth as all the bugs started appearing(phone was rebooting multiple times, image was broken, sd xcard not recognised and battery life draining fast as hell).
Because of that I decided to root my phone and install Havoc 2.0. Fair enough, I used the rom for a bit but honestly I am not really happy about it too as doesn't seem really stable at all (many functions are there but not working, the camera app is crap, the volume bar appears every time I touch the fingerprint sensor and the fingerprint lock isn't working as well). At this point I wanted to revert and get back to the stock oreo 8.1 so I booted the recovery twrp to restore the firmware backup that I did at the beginning before installing havoc but this disappeared!!!!!
Reading again the procedure i followed I noticed that one of the steps was to wipe the caches and, as the procedure was saying, the system as well(I know.... I am an idiot for relying on what the procedure said)!
Obviously this deleted my previous backup completely leaving me empty hands without any stock firmware/rom.
Is there any chance to revert back to the stock (maybe downloading all the pieces and then force flashing them?) or I am screwed?
I know, I should have followed one of your tutorial (and I am sorry for asking now for your assistance) but now I think you are the only one that can actually help me.
Best regards,
D.

Wiping system is not what wiped your backup, your backup was stored on internal storage or on external sdcard, it does not get stored in system. The only you could have wiped the backup is if you also chose the option to wipe the internal storage when you wiped cache and system.
Factory reset and the normal wipes in TWRP do not wipe /data/media, /data/media is where your user data is stored. Only specifically choosing the option to wipe internal storage can wipe /data/media.
And you aren't an idiot for following instructions, you're an idiot for following instructions incorrectly. If you had wiped cache and system but left internal storage alone, you wouldn't be in the mess you're in.
Have you tried doing a Google search for:
"Return to stock (your model number)"
If it's available, that should find the instructions, tools and files you need.

Hi, first of all thanks for replying.
Interbal storage hasn't been wiped out, i am sure about it as the proceedure was saying not to do it. (I've selected just the first 3 options and internalbstorage is the 4th so I am def8nitely sure about it). Might be somewhere else then?
I did a second back up now and I see it so at this point I am not really sure where this could be!
Is 12 hours that I am searching proceedures but everything is very confusing.

Do you mind me asking you one last thing?
At this point, having the original backup, I can try another custom Rom before reverting everything to Oreo.
My question are 2:
-Because you seem very driven, do you know any stable custom rom that I can run on this Xiaomi MI A2 lite?
-Do you know if I can Install the old Havoc on and purge this pie version?
Thanks again,
Davide

Hello, I've searched and haven't found any thread like that.
Does anybody know is there a chance, after installing Android 12 by OTA, to root the phone?
I've followed the instruction from: https://www.droidwin.com/how-to-root-pixel-devices-via-magisk-on-android-12/
but I get a bootloop. I've tried:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
fastboot reboot
then, I've tried:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot getvar current-slot (it's 'b' in my case)
fastboot flash boot_a magisk_patched.img
fastboot flash boot_b magisk_patched.img
fastboot reboot
It's bootlooping until I flash original boot.img.
I'm using the latest Magisk canary.
It would be really, really nice to be able to use Andorid 12, but rooted.
Happened to me a week ago,
go to https://developers.google.com/android/images and flash the latest image. then flash the modified boot img.
Also r u aware on how to pass safety net on android 12.

There is a problem with Swift Backup that you can't copy data with no root
@wolfenstein3de
Thank you for the link. I used it to root my Pixel 4a after I did the OTA to Android 12 today and wanted to share my experience.
I had it unlocked and rooted with magisk before and had existing backups of everything.
When I did me root just now, I did not loose any data when uploading the patched boot. Everything went smoothly.
Obviously this doesn't mean you or anybody else might loose their data so to try to create a proper backup first!

Hello, I tried putting the fresh system and then - rooting. No problem! But then I've read about no more support for Magisk Hide.
I used root (in order of importance):
- yt vanced (can be used as separated app, no root needed)
- tasks for tasker (some doesn't work, like turning wifi on while the airplane mode, creating hotspot etc.)
- adblock (apparently work cool without root)
- Magisk advanced battery control (I preferre charging with 0.5A during the night up to 89%, disable charging during flying the drone and keeping 49-50% during card rides)
- ads in apps
- possibility of recoding the calls
- possibility for creating backups, also with data apps
- removing apps (still, I can hide them with Nova Launcher, though)
But I stopped being able to use one of my bank apps and some others.
I know that it was hard, from time to time, that after updating some apps, root make them impossible to use them. I gave up! Maybe I'm getting old. Long time ago I needed root to play with kernels, changing power of my cpu and killing taks from RAM, but now days, even with 6 communicators in background, recording the screen, some post apps running, gmail + DjiFly, everything seems to work fine. But if not yt vanced - I would stay rooted.
Maybe somebody knows if there's a way that making backup with no root, but using the bootloader would work or if there's a way to record the calls?
I had my 4a rooted with version 11 using Magisk and sunfish-rq3a.211001.001-factory-5d6da39f and made the mistake of OTA updating to 12. 4a is still unlocked but I lost root which is why I am reading this thread.
I see the instructions to go to here https://developers.google.com/android/images for the latest version. As you may know Google pushed out the Verizon version of 12 which is on my phone now SP1A.211105.002.A1, Nov 2021, Verizon, Verizon MVNOs). I would like to not have the Verizon version on my phone (does that even make sense?) and was wondering which load to use - this one: SQ1A.211205.008, Dec 2021?
I know enough to get the root done but not much else about the hardware/sw versions.
Thanks

Yeah, there's only 1 December version. No variants like November.
Is it possible to root the 4a, flash with stock ROM and then use banking apps or is it prohibited due to SafetyNet or so?
I am asking because I would like to use apps that require root like greenify, adaway, titanium backup, naptime, etc to get rid of ads and optimize battery life.... But, before, I need to know if banking apps will work.
Thanks in advance...

Greenify? Naptime?? Holy time warp! Root was great when root was needed. AOSP has come a long way since then. Root still viable but a high bar and even greater use restrictions. And ya'h, safety net will ruin your day over and over again. Cheers, mate!
Hello there, I need help :/
My Poco F2 Pro is stuck on a Boot loop, without any obvious reason.
The device became really laggy and painfully slow. Because of that, I wanted to restart it. But now it is stuck in a boot loop
I rooted the device using Magisk Canary 1 week ago. Yesterday, I installed the custom recovery "TWRP".
And with Titanium backup I froze a few system apps... which didn't seem to be so important (I googled them beforehand)
Today, I tinkered a little bit with AF+wall (which still doesn't really work), but except of this, nothing else.
I tried (using TWRP) to wipe the Data and Cache, but it fails "unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/.twrps
Also tried to change file system to ext2 and then back to ext4, but it again says "unable to mount"
What can I do now, resp. how can I get my device? I made a backup using Titanium, but it still is in the internal storage xD
OK.. I will give up the backup, I have all the important files backed up earlier anyways...
My plan is now to use MiFlash to flash the newest MIUI version [V13.0.2.0.SJKEUXM] onto my device.
Only fear is.. I have TWRP installed, and as far as I know, it does not support android 12... what will happen if I do this nervertheless?
And I want to get rid off TWRP nevertheless, so it would be perfect if it just gets replaced with the stock recovery...
sounds like a plan. still any question?
Nope, thank you, everything worked out as planned
Hello,
About two months ago I successfully rooted that phone through Magisk. Now I am facing the told problem. I searched for some problems like mine, but it is not because of updates. I do not remember I have done something dangerous for the system. However, I tried to install this package. When I tried with the Android package installer, I got an error "it could not be installed". Then I tried to do it through this app manager for rooted devices, and it just stayed loading for a while until I just closed it. I entered the custom app manager and I realized that the app was recognized as an installed app, but however, I could not see it in the poco app launcher. I launched the app and it worked fine, but when tried to make f-droid a system app it displayed an error "/ directory could not be remounted as read-write". I left it be and removed that app. Everything fine... But the next morning the phone was asking for the SIM unlocking code. I unlocked both, the SIM and the phone, but after about five minutes it rebooted to MIUI recovery 5.0. If once in recovery mode the phone is inactive for a while, it automatically reboots to system. The rebooting time once unlocked the SIM was decreasing to two minutes. Apparently, it only will reboot if the SIM is unlocked, and the time is five minutes when the phone is cold and it decreases as it is being restarted. The phone it is not too hot when rebooted.
Thank you if you spent your time by reading the text above. Now the question: How can I fix it without losing my data? Regards.
PD: I do not have enough time to make a backup till it is rebooted, at least from system, and safe mode did not solve the issue.
You tried to install an obsolete app for moving apps to system, an app from 2016... no less?! What were you thinking?
Let me be honest and tell you that that move was extremely stupid. Chalk up your mistake to a brain fart, take the loss and try to reflash the firmware without formatting anything prior to doing so. Leave internal storage, dalvik, cache and everything else untouched. You just might make the phone bootable to backup your data, and then do a PROPER flash procedure.

OK, that flash was successful, the root and the custom recovery were lost, but it is still rebooting. Should I flash all?
