T-Mobile No Service After Bootloader Unlock - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

So I recently unlocked my bootloader, but i was unable to get service on my device. I tried putting it into airplane mode, taking the SIM card out and putting it back in, and restarting the device. All of this was unsuccessful. The only way I was able to get service back was by re-locking my bootloader. Anyone else have any experience with this? Thanks.

Tmobile is experiencing widespread network disruptions across the country. Might be related to that? Not sure. I haven't been able to make or receive calls since this morning.

My service is intermittent today due to the outage, I highly doubt unlocking the bootloader had anything to with it.

[Q] HTC Desire was unlocked, crashed, now no GSM, help!

Hi, hoping someone can provide some advice on this, been trawling forums and no one seems to have quite the same issue...
I purchased a HTC Desire from someone who had unlocked it from the Virgin network. Had my Vodafone SIM working in there without any problems whatsoever for several weeks.
One night, under heavy use (video streaming etc) the phone crashed, and since then there has been no GSM signal, only 3G. Other SIM cards had the same issue.
At first figured it was a problem with the hardware, so sent it to HTC, but they just sent it back saying 'no fault found'.
Then I figured I'd try a Virgin SIM in it in case it had become 'partially locked' again - though didn't really think such an issue was possible, and bingo - this appeared to work - even in GSM only mode it can make calls.
So I guess I have a few questions:
If I take this somewhere to have it unlocked again, are they actually going to be able to do anything with it? It's not asking for a code, it just doesn't find any GSM signal...
Anyone else have this no 2G but 3G ok issue? Can a crash affect a phone in this way?!
Does it sound like something I can solve myself? I'm loathed to do anything too drastic as it is still under warranty.
If it helps I checked out the simlock menu and it is saying:
MCCMNC file fail
CID file fail
Which I presume has something to do with it...

Why do I have no data network?

Ever since doing the htc unlocker last night, my mobile data speeds have been very slow at best. It would not even download anything at all, even though it says 4G on top. I am running stock and the only thing I have done to my phone is unlock bootloader via htcdev.com. can anyone confirm what the problem is or helps figure it out? Thanks!
Also, could it be Tmobiles network being down?
[EDIT] Now I have called T-Mobile and they have not done anything but filed a request to the engineering department. I still have a very low data connection. Can anyone tell me if the HTC unlocker tool messed up my phone?
Can't anyone put in some thoughts or tips or anything at all??
Call them...
Can someone please help. It shows the 4G icon, and the up arrow blinks a couple of times then they both blink together in about 2 second intervals. What does that mean?
I would really like to get my data back on.
After a long, hour conversation on the phone with a T-Mobile rep, they had done nothing to improve my data connection and filed a service request to the engineering department.
Can anyone tell me if the method I had used on my device to unlock my bootloader through htcdev.com messed up my data connection speeds? Has it done that to anyone else!?!?
Should I try to do a factory reset of my device? Please any help would be appreciated.

[Q] any issues with unlocking sim?

Have a samsung focus, rev 1.3, and running rogers firmware. It's unlocked, but it doesn't detect a network. wondering if anyone else has had issues. i didn't try it before unlocking, so idk if it worked before. i bought it used, and never tested the actual sim abilities. it displays the sim number in the about menu, and it says "emergency only" in the phone hub. it won't work with ANY sim, including rogers. in the diag menu, it does display the phone as unlocked, but it's wifi only currently. was thinking that it might be an issue with the cell radio, but i thought it was integrated on this phone. Tried diag menu reset, and full retail 7004 rom install.
it's apparently out of warranty, so if anyone has any ideas, i'd love the help!
thanks.
Has the phone been blocked? If it was second hand it may have been reported as stolen and therefore blocked for any sim usage in your country.

SM-G970U Refuses to Work on Carrier Network

So, I have an S10e (SM-G970U) that was bought from Verizon a while back. The phone was set up on a Verizon post-paid plan, but was later switched to prepaid. The phone worked fine for months, but about a week ago, the phone randomly stopped making and receiving calls, texts, and the ability to use mobile data. It was taken to Verizon, and they tried "all they could" in their words, which included a new SIM card, resetting network settings, and eventually a factory reset from settings. Nothing seemed to work, and they gave up, claiming it "seemed like a bad antenna." They did call their "tech support" who claimed the most recent Android 11 update supposedly caused an issue with mobile network connection with the Verizon S10e devices, which I haven't heard of, but didn't know. He claimed a reset would fix it.
Since none of that fixed it, it was taken to a shop to be inspected. They claim the phone has nothing wrong with it. So, that, in theory, rules hardware issues out. Their only claim was that when an AT&T SIM was inserted, it was able to connect to the network, but never tried to make any calls due to the SIM not being activated. I assume this is due to someone trying to "help" inserting an activated AT&T SIM into the slot when testing, which I assume ended up installing the carrier branded version of the firmware. They gave a couple possible reasons, but neither seemed to make sense.
Since it had the AT&T bloatware and was working with only AT&T SIMs, I decided to flash both the VZW G970U firmware (the earliest version I could to ensure the supposed "issue" from Verizon support wasn't a problem) and the G970U1 firmware. Both firmware flashes have seemed to have done nothing, as the phone is still having the issue. Most times, it will connect to the Verizon network, but the signal seems to rise and fall quickly (like the bars going from 5 to 1 to 3).. Still no calls, texts, or data, though. I have no idea what's going on, at this point, honestly. Any ideas?

If the people it was taken to were competent and did their jobs correctly (one of the best around, according to reviews and carrier recommendation), their diagnostic results show no hardware damage to the phone. Then again, their explanation for the problem was that it had been locked to ATT network (a Verizon bought phone that never had any affiliation with another carrier, aside from Verizon and a month-long stint with Straight Talk). Some idiot she knows that used to work for a Verizon retailer popped his ATT SIM in there, and it flashed ATT firmware.. Their POSSIBLE solution was to try and have it network unlocked from ATT. As we know, though, the IMEI obviously did not change, and the process of confirming the identifier is done on the mobile network level. Therefore, flashing a different carrier's firmware won't do much (permanently), aside from changing the boot screen and bloatware apps. We even tried to explain to the guy that the ATT SIM had never been popped in until after the problem began, as there was no reason to beforehand. I also mentioned I had flashed firmware multiple times before I ever came to him, to no avail. I should've pushed harder, but I had been out all day, frustrated and ready to go home.
It's been over a month since that issue began, and I haven't thought much of it lately.. We've since found her a new phone (and stowed the other one in a drawer). Those guys did blurt some moronic statements.. In hindsight, I'm not too sure I should trust their judgement after hearing what I did. Maybe it was an antenna issue or otherwise hardware, but I sort of assumed if anyone can happen to keep a repair shop open, they'd at least be able to complete the simple tasks fairly easy. I don't know. I'm not paying another repair shop to find out, though.
I had a very similar problem where my phone would just randomly lose all connection for about a minute, then it would reconnect I would start doing whatever I was and it would do it again and this one on for months. I took it to AT&t and they told me to replace the SIM which I did and it didn't work. after a couple updates it fixed itself.

5G Phone Stuck on 2G

Hello!! I'm new here! I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I have a TCL 30 XE 5G (T767W) from Metro by T-Mobile and I had it sim unlocked by an eBay seller who had me hook it up to my PC via USB. The settings menu says it's still locked but it does accept sims from other carriers so I think it's unlocked. The problem is that it won't find any service at all with any sim other than the original Metro sim unless I set it to 2G only mode. Even selecting my service provider from the available network list doesn't work. The only way I can get the phone to find service is to force it to connect to 2G then change the network mode to LTE and then finally set it to 5G and that doesn't always work either and even when it does it's only a matter of time before it randomly disconnects and is left forever searching for service but never reconnecting until I set it back to 2G only mode again. All this is happening in a city with great T-Mobile coverage and all of the sims I've tried run on the T-Mobile network. The only sim that works without any fuss is the Metro sim even after the phone was unlocked. I'm using the phone on a T-Mobile MVNO now but it always disconnects sooner or later. I don't understand how a new phone can't automatically find an LTE or 5G network without first connecting to 2G and it doesn't find that either unless it's set to 2G only mode. Aside from the obvious inconvenience this causes, T-Mobile plans to shut down their 2G network soon at which point this phone won't be able to find service. Has anyone else run into this problem? I have two of these phones both are doing the same thing. Did something go wrong with the unlock? Is it a software issue? I tried asking my carrier for help but they can't figure it out either. I appreciate any help or info anyone here can offer. Sorry for the long post.
i suggest taking into a service and getting it there unlocked. perhaps your method prove faulty.
