Fast charge stopped working. - LG V50 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Hello all! I've had the V50 for about 5 months now, Korean version, Android 10. Fast charging stopped all of a sudden. Now it says "Charging - 3.30 hours" . Port is clean, original charger and cable, works fine with my old G6. Same in safe mode. Anything else to do except Factory reset? Thanx a lot! :fingers-crossed:

Same after factory reset...I gotta take it to the shop LG doesn't have a very good history with charging ports..

Came back miraculously today hahah. I hope it stays. Its a mystery

Is there lint or other debris in the port? Somehow debris in my pocket gets in and plugging in the charger pushes all the way in. The process repeats, and the debris eventually builds up and interferes with full insertion of the charging cable into the port.
Fast charge capability disappears as a consequence. I use a small wooden stick to dig the junk out.

[Q] Need Replacement Charging Port

The tablet needs a new charging/interface port and was wondering if anyone knows where I can get one?
I have searched Ebay and the net for a used/new one. The port looks fine but when plugging the cable in it won't charge. Sometimes I can get it to if I push and hold it just right however this is tricky to do and does not work often. So right now it is a dead brick. The pins must not be making full contact for some reason.
Ive bought parts from these guys before, I don't see a charging port but might be worth giving them an email and asking

Thanks but I would rather not have to order parts from Sweden. If I have to I'll just keep watching Ebay. Every so often one pops up but doesn't last very long.
Good luck
The parts I ordered took about 4-6 weeks to arrive iirc
Just installed a new (used off Ebay) charging port with fingers crossed that it will allow the tablet to charge. I also have a new high quality charging cord (PWR+) and two ASUS wall chargers that I know work. Plugged the tablet in and was relieved to see the tablet come right on and show it charging. Let it charge to about 20% and then decided to unplug it so I could put the ring back on the tablet so it is all back together. Get the ring on and plug the tablet back in and nothing. I'm about to throw this thing in the trash right now. So fed up with these charging issues. What changed? All I did was unplug it, put the ring on, and plug back in.
So for kicks I decide to try the other wall charger and what do you know....it came on immediately and started charging and is still charging. I'm afraid to touch the thing now. Seems once it is charging and undisturbed it will charge to 100% no problem. However, when going to recharge it won't charge. Could there be something in the charging mechanism causing the thermal to trip in the wall chargers? Is there possibly a small short somewhere in the charging mechanism? Anyone have an opinion on why this is happening? Only other thing I can think of is doing a full wipe/reset and maybe flashing another rom (is currently on newest Android Revolution HD) once it is charged up.
Could the ring (I assume you mean Bezel ? ) or the screws near the port be shorting the charging port to earth/ground/chassis ?

Yep.. Sry.. The bezel. Not sure how but anything is possible. Would indicate to me a faulty charging port or charger cord and is happening on multiple. Tablet is still allowing me to charge it at this time after switching chargers and with the bezel on so will have to see how it goes.
Sent from my tricked out S4.
Fingers crossed it was a coincidence with the first charger, if not, I'd try taking the bezel off again and see if you can spot the short / see if it works again with the bezel off, or even just with the screws out

USB-C Connector

Tried plugging in the USB-C charger today and it would not click in all the way. Tried another USB-C, same problem. With it partially plugged in, even if it states it is charging, battery is not actually being charged. Anyone else encounter this?
Exactly the same problem in this post on reddit.

Last night I had troubles getting the charging cable on all the way, but I pressed harder and it finally started charging.
Today, I am having severe difficulty in getting the 3.5mm adapter plugged in, very loose and keeps falling out.
I took a close look at the port and it looks like there is some gunk on one side of the connector.
I tried using a pick, but it will not come off. Did I seriously manage to get something in there? This is not my first USB C phone and I haven't abused it in any way....

Pixel stopped charging. HELP

My pixel 2 XL stopped charging at all of the sudden and only accepts slow charging and with a "Chinese" cable. The original cable doesn't work. No the cable ain't broken or the charger. My girlfriend has a pixel 3 and she uses my charger and cable and works on hers. We used also her charger and cable ( from pixel 3s ) and on her pixel 3 everything works comes to mine it doesn't even recognize to start charging.
Yes I'm using the original one.. I wrote it all but I don't know why XDA deleted some stuff.
Anyway yeah always used the original one and always been using. Never used another cable or charger actually.
It just happened put of nowhere, morning was fine when I went to bed couldn't charge it.
The only way I'm able to charge my phone now is with those lame cables of 1£ and it charges super slow. 5h for 80%. But that's literally the only way.
I've done factory reset, hard and soft resets, battery calibration, cleaned the port with toothpicks... Nothing seems to work.
It's a weird problem because the original cables don't work just the non original ones , which charge super super slow, but I'm also sure the cable and the chargers don't have any problem because I live with my girlfriend and she always uses them ( the one who came with my phone and the one who came with hers , she has a pixel 3 ) and no problems with her. Just with me.
Maybe my battery is faulty ?
Try some rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush. Mine kept connecting and disconnecting repeatedly while charging. Here, I had a nice peice of lint in the port. Just an idea. Hope you get it figured out ?
I had something like this happen a while ago and the problem for me also turned out to be lint in the charging port. It actually looked totally clean, but when I stuck something in there to clean it out I was surprised that there was lint.
Don't stick anything metal in the charging port though, because it could short out the connections. I just cut out a thin piece of plastic from a plastic cup and used it to scrap around. A piece with a nice point on it is good. Try to pick out any lint that's at the bottom of the charging port that may be preventing the cable from inserting all the way.
Good luck. Hope that helps.

Poco x3 fast charging stopped working

hello everyone. Yesterday a few drops of water were dropped in my type-c port of my poco x3. Then, when i tried to charge it, the charge was realy slow (no fast charging notification). After i clean it with paper, fast charge was working just fine. Today when i tried to charge it i had the same problem: No fast charging
Any tips how to fix it?
Sounds like you are lucky it still charges... Something could have shorted ... Perhaps turn it off for a while until it no longer has power running.. let it seat for a while and try again ...just guessing here .. might be it will re balance the voltage on the circuits
Probably residual moisture. As far as I know the port is completely sealed from the rest of the phone (not 100 percent sure) so no water should get into the device itself. So either wait or perhaps stick it in a jar with some silica gel packets. You also mentioned that you cleaned it with a paper towel, make sure there isn't a tiny chunk of it stuck in the port. Check whether the cable is clean too.
The most interesting thing is that is fast charges if i use another cable. So I can't understand what happend to the cable and some times it works and other not!

Weird charging issue

Yesterday my Pixel 3a stopped accepting charge.
I use 2 chargers - the original google charger and a Xiaomi USB-A with a quality cable.
When I connect the Pixel charger + cable, Pixel 3a shows the wave charge motion, the status icon changes to "flash in battery" for a sec. Then it stops charging. The charger works fine with my Pixel 6.
Same situation with my Samsung PD charger.
The Xiaomi USB-A charger works but extremely slowly. The Ampere App used to show ~1,2A but now only between 50-100mA.
The charger works fine with Pixel 6.
I cleaned the seemingly clean Pixel 3 socket, nothing changed.
Any ideas, please?
Thanks
V
We already have an old phone. Perhaps your battery is worn out?
The battery is perfectly fine.
I've gone to the bottom of this. Literally.
After carefully cleaning the contacts of the Pixel 3a socket with contact cleaner, the phone still didn't started to charge properly.
However, I noticed that after wiggling the plug a bit, PD charging came back on.
So I cleaned even more intensely by rubbing contacts carefully with a toothpick which I had to shape with a knife in order to reach down into the socket.
There was still some tiny amount of black gunk down there I could not spot even with a watchmakers loupe.
Now we're back in biz.
I have a similar issue - bought a Pixel 3a recently from eBay, charging works but there is no connection to the computer via USB.
I tried it in Windows 10 and Ubuntu, used even a usb drive which I plugged into the adapter, I think something is wrong with my usb-c port.
Can you please be more detailed on how you cleaned the port? did you rub hard with the plastic toothpick?

did you spray the contact cleaner inside the USB-c port?

No. I put it on paper tissue wrapped around carved toothpick.

I carefully rubbed the contacts with a wooden toothpic on which I put a drop of mild non corrosive contact cleaner. Initially I tried rubbing with tissue wrapped, later bare wood. The latter worked.
Have same charging issue, and proper clean help. Original pixel cable should make little click sound and dont't fall out even when you hang phone holding by cable
Usb c has 24 pins. The pin 6 and 7 should be at the top side, then charging is working again. That means, try to plug in the usb c in the other direction
