If you go to the Software Update page and go to settings there should be an option to disable auto install updates

note 5 unrooted for now. i got the 6.0.1 update and i dont want to download it at this time to install. well it downloaded itself, so how do i get it to go away and not install without rooting?
Try downloading package disabler pro and disable the system update
Why would you want too stop it mm is the best android version for Samsung yet!
I have down graded from Android 9 Pie to Android 8 Oreo. However when I try and setup the phone, it searches for software updates and updates it back to Pie again!
Is there anyway to skip the software update search while setting up the phone in Oreo?
(Preferably without needing to root it. I am using a Nokia 8.)

Don't sign into the phone, do not connect to a network during setup, just skip all of that to boot into the device without an account and without being connected to a network.
Then go to settings and find the software update center settings, disable it. Then enable mobile data or WiFi, then go to system settings>accounts and add an account, sign into your account and see if it still tries to update.

Is there any way to prevent a Galaxy S10e from from accepting the update? I just bought this phone from Verizon after my S5 was becoming really laggy after 5 years. My phone automatically downloaded the update, but I postponed it. I disable system auto updates under developer options and also under biometrics and security: other security settings: security policy updates. But I restarted my phone, and the update popped up and asked me to install now or later. I postponed it, but I'm afraid I won't be able to continue doing that. Any ideas?
Why don't you want to update to Android 10?

Various reasons. Is there a way to stop the update from happening once it's downloaded and in the "bug the user" loop?
I'd love to know this (prevent ota update) as well
Since yesterday, I'm getting daily reminders to update to Android 12. I'm currently on the October update to Android 11 and I'm not ready to update to Android 12 right now.
Is there any way to prevent these notifications?
I decided to update to Android 12. I guess turning off automatic updates in the developer options no longer works.
Is there a way to prevent Galaxy A515F auto updating stock Android 11 firmware to Android 12? I don't like at all Android 12. After updating via OTA, I flashed back to Android 11 via Odin, but after a few days the phone started to download again the Android 12 update and the only option is 'Pause', but after I click 'Pause' this is shown all the time, don't disappear, even if I restart the phone. I tried to uncheck 'Auto download over wifi' in the 'Software update' menu. In the 'Biometrics and security' menu I deactivated 'Security policy updates' and in the 'Developer options' I disabled 'Auto update system' but the phone keeps starting the download over mobile data without asking for my permission!!! This makes me very angry, because I payed for the phone good money and I can't control it! I don't know how Samsung developers think, but I think that for my money I have the right to decide what to do. They should leave to customers the opportunity to decide how to use our phones.
Solved: I debloated my phone via ADB Shell and I uninstalled Software updater, so my phone doesn't auto update anymore.
