I'd like to introduce my first Android app called URLy.
URLy is a multi-purpose URL tool for sharing URLs. It comes with a lot of features, is highly customizable and very easy to use. You can shorten URLs, upload files and send messages to Twitter. It also functions as a Twicca plug-in for uploading files and URL shortening.
Let me list some of the features...
URL shortener:
• Support of 40 different shortening services: goo.gl, bit.ly / j.mp, CloudApp, kcy.me, is.gd, to.ly, tinyurl.com, saf.li, f2.am, smal.ly, ur.ly, su.pr, lnk.by, ux.nu and more.
• User credentials for goo.gl, bit.ly, kcy.me, su.pr and others so that URLs are added to your user's history.
• Shorten with your own Yourls shortener.
• Easily choose and rearrange the services you want to use.
• Custom URL support.
• Page title sharing.
• Shorten long youtube.com URLs to short youtu.be URLs.
• Search for songs and receive a short tinysong.com URL that points to the song at Grooveshark.
• Share shortened URL with other apps: Create a new E-Mail, SMS, Buzz, Tweet, Facebook post, Task, etc. with the shortened URL.
• Password-protect your URLs with din.gy, l4u.in and itshrunk.com.
File uploader:
• Upload photos with ImageShack, Yfrog, Twitpic, Twitgoo, Imgur, Moby, Plixi, Pikchur, Twitrp, Posterous, TwitrPix, TwitRP, FileSocial, min.us, Gallery3.
• Upload videos with Yfrog, ImageShack, Twitpic, Posterous, Pikchur.
• Upload any kind of file with Dropbox, CloudApp, FileSocial, Posterous, TwitDoc, ifile.it or your FTP server (via AndFTP).
• Receive the URL to the uploaded file and forward it to other apps.
• Resize photos before uploading them (saves a lot of bandwidth / upload time).
• Insert forum code for uploaded images (see menu -> insert forum code -> this will wrap you URL into

Post messages:
• Insert the short URL and file URL into a new message / status update.
• Post it directly to Twitter or any Twitter-compatible service like identi.ca, shoutem.com or twitter-api.wordpress.com or forward it to other apps like TweetDeck.
• Shorten messages with TwitLonger.
• Insert special UTF-8 characters into the message.
• Send messages via Twitter API proxy if you can't perform the Twitter OAuth due to firewall restrictions.
I'd appreciate any kind of feedback. If you have a suggestion / request / problem please let me know.

Update:
Just wanted to let you know that I released a new version with the support of an image hosting service. So, now, you can take any local image you have on your phone (e.g. in the media gallery), forward it to URLy and it will automatically be uploaded to Bilder Upload, a free and fast online image sharing service. The image URL that is generated is anonymous and quite long, so that no one can guess the URL and accidentely find your images. After the upload, URLy will auomatically start with the image URL so that it can be shortened and forwarded to other apps like E-Mail, Twitter, Buzz, Facebook or whatever you like. Of course you can also send a QR code pointing to your image!
For more information please visit my blog (for the URL please go to the market, I can't post URLs here, yet).
Again, I'd really appreciate some feedback.
Sounds great, will have a look at it

Edit // Works great so far!
Thanks xPatriick, glad you like it.
Gonna release a new version these days with some cool new features. Stay tuned...
I just released a new version of URLy. With v0.9.3 you have now a second choice for sharing local images. Select Imageshack in the preferences and send images to URLy: It will automatically be uploaded to Imageshack and you can share the URL of the image in other apps, without having to send the image itself. If you enter your Imageshack user credentials, the images will automatically be added to you Imageshack user account.
Optionally, you can also also select an option to receive a Yfrog URL instead of the Imageshack URL.
The upload to Imageshack is still experimental. If you experience any problems please let me know.
I also fixed the QR code images you can send to other apps, they pointed to a malformed URL.
Uhh, do the imageshack with twitgoo and twitpic too and I'll love you. (not really tho)
As of now I can say that Twitgoo and / or Twitpic and / or native Yfrog support is coming.
I have to think about how I implement the possibility to not only upload an image to the service (and by that to Twitter, too) but to also post a message along with it. There are some internal changes necessary and I have to decide some things, so I don't know when but it's likely that it will come one way or the other.
cool thanks
There's a new version, faster than I expected myself...
With v0.9.4 you can now upload images to Yfrog, Twitpic and Twitgoo. If you want, you can automatically let them post a new Tweet for you, containing the URL to the uploaded image.
You cannot, however, pass a message to you Tweet along with the URL, yet. This is probably coming in one of the next releases, though I'm implementing something totally different, first.
Please, everybody, try it out and report any issues with these new features.
works great, thank you!
New versions
Just wanted to inform on the new version. You can now upload any kind of file, using FileSocial:
Use your favorite file manager app to send a file to URLy. It will upload the file to FileSocial and you can forward the URL to any other app like SMS, Facebook, Buzz, Mail, etc.
Please post any feedback.
ppppppwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnsss!!!!!!
I just published an update which comes with many new features. I edited the first post to start showing the changelog from now on.
when I try to set up my Dropbox account for data upload, I'm getting "Communication with the service provider failed: Service provider responded in error: 400 (Bad Request)". Is something wrong?
I don't think the app is getting updates anymore.

Click to collapse
Thank you! I'll gather up a Strings file and you'll be the first to know. I just want to stabilize it a bit more, before bothering with translation of settings, etc. The app should be simple to use in the meantime (search and get results
Added Google Play link image for downloading
Over 24Hrs legal bump.
Thanks, nice app
Thanks, I had been looking for an indexed search for android, this seems to work well.
I keep a lot of documents on on my phone and I am concerned about the size of the index file. Is there an option to store the index file on my external SD card?
It's a very handy app!
I did a quick review about it here:
http://techcookies.net/androsearch-search-everything-on-your-android/
Released major version with Search over all Contacts data including Notes
Added Search in all Contacts data including Notes.
Added: Query completions - get query suggestions and take your search online.
Added: Fuzzy search - keyboard typos and misspells tolerant. Always on, fast, and intelligent.
Great APP!
Thanks!
One question though, is there a way to get "Open containg folder . . ." To use a differnt file manager (it only seems to work with ESfile Explorer) ?
How about searching within apps like Messaging and Gmail? And perhaps even third-party apps.

Hi,
BookUp is a books information & reading list app.
* First feature :
search books informations by title, author, editor, subject, language or isbn.
Also, a rudimentary barcode scanner is embedded in the app so that you can scan the isbn barcode of a book and search that specific book easily !
Search results are displayed as an infinite scroll list.
Clicking/touching a book in a list displays a detailed single book view.
On detailed view, long pressing a book cover displays the cover as a bigger image.
* Second feature :
In list or detailed view, clicking the small "bookmark" icon adds the book to your "library".
The library is an offline list where you can keep book information for later usage, I personnally created it as a reading list, but other use cases are possible.
When I listen to a podcast, the radio, I'm reading an article, if a book seems interesting I search it and save it so that I can easily find it later.
You can add or remove books from your library just by toggling the bookmark icon.
* Third feature
A share button is available in single book view. It can send books information containing a link to any text app (sms, whatsapp, clipboard, twitter etc...).
Afterwards, clicking the link on any phone where BookUp is available displays automatically that specific book directly in single book view where it can be added to the library.
That makes it really easy to share books with other people.
-edit
* Fourth feature :
- save library as a file to local storage (internal or SD card) or remote storage (Google Drive, DropBox, etc...)
- import backup files saved from the app (in case of accidental erasure etc...)
- import can merge several files as a bigger library because it adds non existent books
* Permissions :
- camera (to scan barcodes)
- internet (to search data on books)
- read external storage (needed by some cloud providers to read backup files, for DropBox actually) --NEW--
/edit
* Future features / planned improvements :
- allow the use of external barcode scanner (although this app weighs only 1.8 MB) so the embedded scanner is not heavy and won't clutter your phone.
- manage multiple libraries, arranges by tags or themes etc...
- export/import library as a file (csv, etc...)
- notify public domain books in single book view and allow to download the book
- ?? I don't know, you tell me, but I want to keep the app small and focused.

New release which brings a useful feature : backup and restore of your library.
Changelog :
- it is now possible to export your library as a text file for backup (option accessible from library view).
- this backup can be saved on local storage (internal or SD card, use option "export as file") or on remote storage (cloud, Google drive, DropBox etc..., use option "export to app")
- those backup files can be imported ("import" option)
- the import adds all books in the file that are not in your library, it doesn't remove files (it is not a synchronization).
- so it can be used to merge several libraries for example (in case someone gives you his or her backup file), useful for sharing.
A new permission is therefore required now, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (actually this one is required only to get files from DropBox as far as I can tell ).
Get the apk from XDA LABS or use the attachment below.

Don't hesitate to drop a word or two in the thread if you like it, find it useful, encounter bugs or want to request features.
New release, version 1.3, brings up two new things :
- when scanning barcodes, the app now searches for a preinstalled barcode scanner app, if there is none the internal one is used. It is possible to force the use of the internal barcode in the new settings menu.
- in list view, public domain books are now signaled with a download icon. Clicking the book leads to detailed view which now displays download links for epub or pdf format.
Go get it in xda-labs !
https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/me.bayang.bookup
New release brings version 2 !
- it is now possible to manage several libraries
- it means you can add or remove books from any library by touching the same icon as before.
- Navigation has been fully rebuilt and is now more intuitive and clean
***WARNING***
These are breaking changes !
EXPORT YOUR BOOKS BEFORE UPGRADING AND REIMPORT THEM AFTERWARDS WITH THE GENERATED FILE.
You will be prompted to choose in which library you want to add the previous books.
If you forgot to create a library you will also be prompted to create one.
For example use the export as file option, create an export file and reimport it after upgrading.
* Once you are in v2, export files will export ALL your libraries.
* Nonexistent libraries will be created during import.
* You can now create several libraries, so books can be sorted by themes or genres for example.
* Libraries can be deleted.
* Clicking any book not in a library will allow you to add it to any library.
* Clicking any book in a library will allow you to add it to or remove from any library.
So go get it in xda-labs.
