Note 10+ display more lines of text than Note 8 - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Questions & Answers

Trying to decide on upgrading to the Note 10+ from Note 8. I do a lot of reading on photography forums and on kindle. Is there any way to know if you get more lines of text displayed on the 10+. I know it is a larger screen with more pixels but at the high resolution display setting does it actually display a few more lines of text for reading or composing longer emails.
Thanks

Yes it does, but its depending on your font, tell me what font size you use and i will check for you 1:1 with note 8

Using standard font - one size larger than smallest
I am using the standard font and selected one size larger than smallest available on selector. Thanks for checking this out.

Where is the "Zoom" button for Apps?

I thought there's a Zoom Button for viewing non-tablet apps in 3.2?

If you don't see it, then it's an app that has been updated to work with the Honeycomb interface.
I installed the same app on my Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 7.0
I see that button on 8.9 but not 7.0
Different resolution and physical screen size between the two is why fewer apps appear with the zoom option on the 7.0 Plus. Drives me nuts since it's not accurate at all and doesn't provide the option for several apps I have that could have needed it

This makes some sense considering the Tab 10.1 & 8.9 resolutions are 1280x800 and the 7 is 1024x600.
Depending on what the density of the screen is on the Tab 7...it looks to be lumped in the Large Screen, Medium Density category...take a look at the link below via Android Developers:
http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html#testing
There might be a way to lower the density to 120...maybe that will activate compatibility zoom. I'm not sure though if compatibility zoom is based on the Extra Large Screen size or not.
EDIT:
Looks like most apps aren't utilizing this declaration in their Manifest...this attribute must be declared for tablets like the Tab 7 to utilize CZ. I think it's default for most tablets with a resolution equal to or greater than 1280x800.
http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/manifest/supports-screens-element.html#compatibleWidth
Also, there's no way to lower pixel density (facepalm). This is determined by the actually real estate of your screen and the resolution. We could lower it by decreasing resolution. That, basically, is compatibility zoom...it lowers your resolution to fit the size of your screen (lightbulb).

Need Help. Feedly on 8.9 inch FHD Resolution display incorrect.

I tried xposed installer and app setting but unable to solve this.
Either 240dpi the display incorrect, or 160dpi the text too small and article display area small.
I'm hoping can get bigger size text and larger article area.
I'm also curious how the feedly display in new nexus 7 2013...

Screen text size too large even with settings on small

Anyone else noticed for such a large display the text is overly large, see pics & YouTube clip I have the Samsung tab S 10.5 & more text is filled on the screen than the Huawei 10.8" display (even the nexus 10 shows more text) & that's with the Text size & view mode set to small because of this I would end up scrolling more. This is making me think twice about getting the tablet. The one I reviewed is my parents.
Does not help that the max home screen grid is only 6x5 where as the Samsung tab is 8x6 which is better.
in the landscape picture it mostly is because of the navigation bar you dont need wth the tab s.
I agree with it being slightly less dense than your parents tab s but I only have a old notebook as a comparison (with 1366&768 resolution) and am perfectly happy with the tablet. I suppose this could be changed with a custom rom though.
Edit: btw if it is just the browser you can adjust the scale. in firefox go to about:config and search for font.size.systemFontScale. I've got it on 70 instead of 100 and can fit a lot more content.
First of all which OS is the Tab S running. Is it the old WebView which comes as separate App, or does it already have the new WebView which is integrated into Chrome. Seems as if it is the old one on the Tab S.
Regarding the Launcher grid well yeah EMUI is different to TouchWiz, less rows and columns on the grid, but less lag fest as well. If you want to obtain more rows and columns on the grid change the launcher let's say to Nova Launcher Prime.

I agree, I've done the same. For me, it's the non text items that are far too big. It feels like they've taken the 8.4" tablet and just scaled everything up.
I use a value of 950 - if you go smaller than that, the settings pages can become unusable. Note that this gets set on a restart, so you have to go back to Developer Options and set the value again. Still, how often do you reboot the tablet?

Question S22 Ultra Text/Font Size

I have the S908U - Verizon version, and I can not get the text size to the smallest size like I can on the S21, I have good eyesight so when the font is bigger then I'd like, I feel like I am wasting space. I can get the S22 CLOSE to what the font size is on my s21 unlocked, but just not quite there. It's a font feature that use to be under accessibility tab, it would decrease the font in ALL apps, texts etc....it's a weird question but does anyone else do this or know how to manually decrease the font? 1st screenshot is the S21, 2nd is the S22.
Enable Developer mode, then go in and increase the 'minimum width' value. You don't need to change it by much (mine is on 435).

Thank you, this did it! When I looked at what the S21 was set at ( 512 ), I changed it to the same on the S22 and it's right where I want it to be! Thanks!
Is this because the max resolution is a little bit smaller then the S21?
Um... No idea

How can you make an app believe, that a tablet is a smartphone (with root)

Hello,
I am visually impaired and I want to use a tablet as a phone, because everything looks bigger on a big screen.
But some apps look different on a tablet than on a smartphone.
They show more content on one screen if you use a tablet than if you use a smartphone.
If you then set large fonts and an enlarged display, elements overlap in the display.
Is it possible to use a tablet as a phone and make the app believe, that it is a smartphone when it is a tablet?
My smartphone is rootet and I have already tried some things.
I have changed ro.build.characteristics=tablet to "phone" (build.prop)
But that did not help.

Change DPI. Lower means bigger. You can adjust that in developer settings, in the "smallest width". Play with that number until you find the good value. Keep in mind, every restart will reset that value to default.
Note that the Android's window size and the device's screen size are not the same. . For example, the area within the window that is used by an app can change if the window becomes too big to fit on the screen.

That is right. Tablets look like a large smartphone. The screen of my tablet has three times the space of the screen of my smartphone. This could mean, that everything is three times as big as on my smartphone. But that is unfortunately not the case.
If you then set large fonts and an enlarged display, elements overlap on the display.
I would like to have a tablet, that behaves identical to a smartphone and everything on the screen looks exactly like on the smartphone, only three times as big.
The tablet knows the physical size of the screen. Otherwise it would not know the ppi-Value. Does anybody know in which file this information is?
Maybe the tablet knows the physical size of its screen ( screen size ), but that's absolutely not of any interest in your case: it's Android's window size ( viewpoint - resolution ) what matters.
You have to find the suitable combo of PPI related to resoulution ( window size ). Both values
wm size
wm density
can get set in Android's system file
