Screen static? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I was thinking of trading my 6t for the 7 pro but for those of you that have it does it have the same static charge on the screen like that 6t did? I assume it was from the in screen fingerprint sensor. Mine was a dust and hair magnet due to the static charge from the screen. So much so that I went back to my XZ2 compact. Just wondering if this device has the same issue.

I was wondering why my 7 Pro was so dusty, when my 6 was just fine.. So yeah, it seems it's still there.

Light bleeding in my Nexus 5?

Hello everyone, i got my nexus 5 a few days ago. And i noticed some light bleeding, is this considered "acceptable" light bleeding for the N5? Im thinking that if i rma it, i might get one with worse light bleeding and maybe other issues too. Do all N5 have this issue? Or mine is not that noticeable to go for rma?
It would be very difficult to get a nexus 5 without lightbleed of varying degrees. Its a common trait of LCD technology
You can only ask yourself if it is acceptable. To me it is. You would find it almost impossible to get one without bleed. That said, you may get one with less but then by the same token, what does it really matter? If you wanted the screen to be dark in a dark room, LCD could never achieve that without an LED backlight system.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I think it's fine and not worth the RMA unless you just have to have that perfect device.
Depends how noticeable it is to you under normal usage conditions. Generally we don't use our phones in the dark with max brightness, but if it's bothering you in day to day usage then it might be worth trying a new one.
Not horrible as my RMA's Nexus 5 lol
Comes with the territory. If you feel black should be real black on your phone, get one with an amoled display type. But that technology comes with its own disadvantages like burning in pixels.
You'll have to decide for yourself what's most important to you.

We have our own "image persistence" issues with lcd too

I had the screen bleed issue on my Gnex as well, even though it is AMOLED. Haven't noticed it really on the N5 though.
You cannot have backlight bleeding with an amoled display: they don't have a backlight.

Well I don't know what to tell ya because it did have it. The whole screen when black would have a glow to it. I don't know if you could technically call it light bleed but it looked like one of the pictures in this thread.
I think if the bleed just slight in the minor region.. accept it and enjoy your phone unless it somewhat major defect..
Trying hard to find a tiny bit of defect on this Nexus 5 beat the purpose of buying the awesome phone or we called it the developer phone..

Personally I never have my screen on full brightness unless its super sunny out. So I don't ever really see the bleed. However. Whatbi see in your pictures is two corners bleeding. I only have one corner bleeding. Back when I repaired phones I got this a lot with the HTC amaze. There is a 4 corner rule. If you get bleed on all for corners. Send it in. And I mean bleed. Not fade.

All the Nexus 5 seems to have a bleed in the top left usually

Yes, there and where the volume rocker is.
Top left corner here as well, not going to RMA. It wouldn't most likely change anything; bleeds are more like a feature.

Mate 7 MT7-TL10 backlight print

Hi guys I've had my mate 7 for a few months now and I'm getting a problem with the screen. When the screen is white I got some kind of lines (print) of the backlight its getting worse and very distracting when on the internet browser esp. Anyone else have this?
Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-TL10
Yes, I have the lines. I was thinking it's from the screen protector that i have on the phone. So its from the dispay? I got used with it anyway.
Yes Its defo the screen its properly a print if how its glued to the board. It does my head in personally as i never used to have it and now it seems to be getting worse. Maybe I'll see if it can be solved with warranty.

Broken screen and touch disabled

I have just broken my phone screen, please feel my pain.
Is there a way to over-ride the 'Touch screen disabled' prompt? I've already missed two calls fumbling for buttons.
Regards.

Hi Mostar088,
I am in the UK. I am sure you didn't mean to rub salt into the wound of my 3 month 20 day (when the screen broke) old phone [emoji22] .
I had left the original screen protector on, just as well as this is now holding the screen together.
Choice I have now is to buy a replacement screen, and fit it myself, or stump £150 for someone else to repair. The taredowns I've seen make me think that the Mate 9 is more fiddly than a Nexus 5, which I have replaced a screen on.
My assumption here is Huawei will be the slowest and most expensive option. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
To answer my original question, should anyone else be asking the same, go to Setting > Smart Assistance > Touch-disabled mode.
I didn't think I had set this previously, and this 'feature' only appeared when the screen cracked. The bulk of the screen damage is just under the speaker grill and over the proximity sensor. The damage must now be confusing the sensor.

Is it worth the upgrade to pixel 5

I don't think it's an upgrade so I'm sticking with the 4xl. It'll probably come down to a few things.
Telephoto or ultra wide
Face unlock or fingerprint
Big forehead or hole punch front (I usually look at the screen and not the bezels when I'm using my phone so bezels are fine)
Battery life won't be that much different especially when the P5 battery save feature comes to the P4XL.
Battery life is said to be AMAZEBALLS on the Pixel 5, significantly better than the Pixel 4 XL
Screen brightness is supposed to be a lot better
Form factor, a much easier device to one hand
In this COVID time wearing masks, I'll take a fingerprint scanner over FaceID
I'm waiting for the Pixel 6. I haven't felt the need for a year to year update since getting the Pixel 2 XL.
Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk
Personally no. I brought one but sent it back after trying it for a while.
I found it a backwards step from the 4XL. For me it was the hole punch, smaller screen and the top under screen speaker that put me off. Fingerprint unlock was nice in this current mask climate, it did feel nice and light in the hand and I do like the idea of reverse wireless charging.
The battery life on my 4xl is pretty good, I like face unlock and I'll rather have a bezel than a hole punch camera which makes the top notification bar a lot deeper, thus losing more screen space.

Where did you buy it?
Snapdragon 8 series to 7 series, qhd+ screen to fhd, face unlock to old school finger print scanner on the back.... Not an upgrade in my book
It doesn't worth buying a pixel 5 from my point of view. I will keep my pixel4xl and waiting for pixel6.
Yep, I actually just purchased the 4XL at Best Buy. Got a price match to $600, and I had $450 in Best Buy rewards certificates, so $150 out of pocket, and another $60 for case and screen protector. I'll keep this until Pixel 6, or 7?? Pixel 5 does seem like a downgrade in many ways, and I could care less about 5G. I have Gigabit Fiber at home, and my normal phone service is more than sufficient. Battery is the only thing I don't like, but I'm ordering a battery case, and I already have a portable battery charger. Still love it.

I was considering the P5 as I can get one through work, but I think I will stick with my 4 XL and await the Pixel 6.
I also have the pixel 4xl and feel that the pixel 5 is a downgrade to the pixel 4xl. Now that we're getting closer to the next pixel release I'm glad I waited. It will be super interesting how tensor chip will be compared to apples bionic or Samsung exynos chips. The only thing I don't like is having a hole punch in the middle of the screen. If prefer it in the corner if we had to have one. I will also miss face unlock. It's simple and you don't have to do anything but look and it does the rest compared to an iphone where it unlocks then have to swipe to go to do what you wanna do. I also would miss soli especially while driving. Super helpful being able to swipe your hand for next track or pause. Most of the time it works for me but others have a hard time with it. But losing soli is not a deal breaker
If you have a 4XL I wouldn't call it an upgrade. You'd be better served waiting for the pixel 6/pro.
Only way I'll end up with a Pixel 5 is if my 4XL bits it on me. I sure hope that doesn't happen! Not upgrade material imo. Maybe if I didn't already have the 4xl... Looking forward to the 6a.

proximity sensor issues?

Hi. have any of you noticed issues with proximity sensors? im talking about situation where on calling someone on any app screen goes black and cant even be woken up with power key or anything. it lights up automatically when the other person/your caller hangs on call. like the phone is thinking its next to head even though its not.
i have tested with some app from playstore to check if the sensor is ok, and seems like it is working properly.
is there a hardware sensor on this phone? where is it located? is there an ability to fix it? is it software issue? anyone else experiencing it? is there a way to always wake up screen with power key?
It's an issue with pocket mode. I had to send my 8T back and got a refund because of it. The phone would lock me out and not let me do anything also happened when I'm on a call. Turn off pocket mode and check to see if that fixes it. I didn't want to have to turn off an essential feature of the phone to fix something that shouldn't have been an issue in the first place so I sent mine back. Luckily I noticed it within the 15 day return period. Got a refund and bought another 8T. This new one works great
Really sad to hear about your issues with the proximity sensor. This is the exact reason why I sent my Galaxy S20 FE back! I was not having the problems with the screen itself like so many others were/are...but I like to use double tap to wake (used it for years now) and every time I pulled the FE out of my pocket the screen was ON with multiple taps being entered all over the place. What a mess! I blame everyone, and I mean EVERYONE who has called, and keeps calling for smaller BEZELS! What is wrong with a little bezel on the top where all the necessary sensors (including the selfie camera) can be housed? Does anyone like it when their phone malfunctions because their proximity sensor is crap, or that it is virtual and virtually does NOT WORK? Does anyone LIKE the look of a NOTCH, or a PUNCH HOLE in comparison to having an unblemished screen??? So many things have become basically intolerable because of stupid, useless changes in these necessary tools. I hope that someone besides Sony will see the light and return to what is practical for the functioning of our phones. Rant over...for now...and I hate to say it but my 8T is functioning properly. So whatever way they have implemented pocket mode...it is working for me, and this makes me very happy. I truly hope you can get your issues resolved one way or another!

I personally have not had this issue, even with pocket mode enabled. The sensor works a lot better than the one in the 7 Pro. I'm not sure where the sensor is on the 8T, but on the 7 Pro it's actually under the display and I guess that was OnePlus' first attempt at under-display sensors, so the auto-brightness was always a little janky as well. The 8T's seems to work much, much better...at least on my phone & my girl's.
Do you perhaps have a screen protector thar might be slightly misaligned and therefore maybe covering the sensor, or perhaps a large case on the phone? I'm just spit-balling here, trying to think of anything that could possibly cause this.
Regardless, it's still dumb that you're facing this.

I have only found that the sensor is very sensitive as it is up next to the earpiece and tends to collect dust there and this leads to the sensor thinking the phone is in the pocket (or on the ear). Just clean the dust
just wanted to let you know i returned this ****.
i am with oneplus from 6t, up to 7t and now i ordered 8t. this company makes worse and worse devices each year. compared to 7t the camera is worse, speakers are worse too.. and these proximity sensor issues, which apparently are with onepluses since 7. damn, never again oneplus, such a crap b-brand. and even sadder is the approach of people praising it for things that can not even be said about it like software update

According to the OnePlus Community forum...it appears to me that the Indian version of the phone is the one that is having all sorts of problems...at least when you read the numerous complaints. I do not know why the Indian version would be any different, or more prone to bugs and malfunctions that the EU or NA versions. I have the unlocked NA version purchased directly from OnePlus and I am having virtually ZERO issues with mine. I had the 6, the 7 Pro, and now the 8T...all unlocked NA versions purchased directly from OnePlus and they all worked flawlessly. I sold the 6 and 7 Pro and the people who bought them from me love them, and also have not had any issues. I always check back with "customers" and they tell me all is good! So, am I just fortunate, or is there something going on with the manufacturing process here? I do not know...but what I do know is that the 8T works way better than the S20 FE did (which I sent back) and it may possibly be the best, fastest working phone I have ever owned! So sorry you are having issues. Is yours the Indian version?

"I do not know why the Indian version would be any different" - and i do. its because indian people will shriek to oneplus logo no matter how poopy the product is. you can treat them worse, and they still will be pleasured to the sky. that might sound harsh, but that's true. same goes with xiaomi phones. indian versions come with different parts! can you imagine the phone has better amoled screen for europe and usa, and worse chinese amoled for indian market? or worse batteries? well, indian xiaomi phones are definition of that. and it all is because customers do not require any better. like i said, we are apologists. no matter how bad the product will be, we will unconditionally defend the company.
and i did purchase directly from oneplus in europe. not only i had proximity sensor issues, but the feeling of speakers is way cheaper than in 7t. also camera is a joke - downgrade from 7t. couldn't stand this joke of a phone.
screen and battery life were nice though.
