T-Mobile USA - Visual Voicemail - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I'm having an issue with the native visual voicemail on my 7 Pro... I purchased this from oneplus directly...
Never had an issue with visual voicemail on earlier models on tmo...
Anyone else getting the can't connect error?

Yes, I have the same exact issue on mine. I downloaded the T-Mobile app and that works, but no matter what I do I can't get the stock dialer one to work, it just says "can't activate visual voicemail" and that I can still call to get my voicemails

My visual voice mail works but it comes with weird text messages that say to call for the voice mail, I've never seen them before.

Youmail is ten times better. I've never used provider vm as it usually stinks.

I had to chat with them because they are overloaded (according to the customer service representative). It took over 2 hours to get it right. I'm a new TMobile customer. Hopefully of you just keep trying it'll get fixed.

I agree. The free version offers so much more than any carrier VVM and is even better if you pay although I don't pay because the free version meets my needs.

And, arguably, Google voice is a 100 times better than that. Take the plunge, it's totally worth it. Check you calls and read voicemail from anywhere that you have an internet connection, even if device is lost.

What did the specifically do??? I have support tickets open with oneplus and tmobile... I suspect its more to do with oneplus at this point.... Interesting tid bits from my phone logs...

So how does VVM work on the OP7? I mean, when I get voicemail I get a notification that shows the text of the audio, but once I clear the notification I can't seem to find where it lets me read the text again, I can only hit "play" to listen to the voicemail in the list. What am I missing???

Have you tried installing the T-Mobile VVM app, activating it, then uninstalling it and opening the dialer and enabling VVM? That worked for me on the OP6T.

Just noticed the thread say T-mobile, sorry,I'm on Verizon.

This is the thread I visited to get it to work.
https://support.t-mobile.com/thread/151041
Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk

T-Mobile VVM Was intermittently giving me issues. I ended up switching back to Google Voice for voicemail. Works great so far, but I only have a week or so since the switch.
Have to install Google voice then follow the instructions in the screenshot. It gave me a number to dial from the phone itself. That then forwards unanswered calls to the Google voice voicemail.
Used to be easier and just click Voice as the voicemail provider. Now it's a slightly more complicated setup. But pretty flawless once setup.
For some reason if I cut and paste the instructions from the page it cuts off after the first little bit. So screenshot only.

I downloaded tmobile Visualvoicemail. Activated it. Then deleted it. REBOOTED the went into phone setting, enable dialer visualvoicemail and it worked. Tmobile 9.5.8

Did you call TMobile support or walk into a store? I'm guessing the support line

its disabled in the config appears like, but some people have managed to activiate it ... more in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...tivate-visual-voicemail-stock-dialer-t3950318

Google Voice

T Mobile Apps
I can't get any of them to work with the new plan which is a bummer cause I love visual voicemail. I can't get the my account app to recognize device. Hope they fix this soon!
Edit: You guys are right Google Voice is way better and transcribes the voice mails which is hella cool!
Try setting it up with WiFi off.
use the google voice voicemail its built in. its much better and it gives you a transcript of messages(it writes it out)

Are you sure it is asking you to "upgrade" and no "setup"? I had to call TMo and have them 'flip the switch', so to speak, on VVM.

I'll try giving them a call, just wasn't sure if it was compatible with the plan out right now or not.
try this
o enable the visual voicemail on T-Mobile, you need to do the following:
* Download the app and install it
* Call T-Mobile
* The rep can't add it automatically via the account features list -- it will error out
* The rep has to first manually update your IMEI number (of which you need to read from the back of your box)
* Then the rep has to wait for that to update (took several minutes)
* Then the rep has to go back to the features list and then add visual voicemail manually
* Try changing your phone from Unknown Device to MyTouch 3G at my.t-mobile.com and add the Visual Voicemail under Services
* If your voicemail is still being delivered the traditional way wait until you receive a text from T-Mobile (about 24 hours) stating that your account change has been updated, it will then work via the application

question about Google Voice
I just set up google Voice.
How do Is top it from routing duplicate incoming texts to both my regular message app, and google Voice
Go into your default messaging service and access the settings in the menu. Disable notifications, and you should only get notifications from Voice.
Errr... not sure if this is exactly what you were asking. You are getting texts from your google voice number on your normal phone number?

What's happening, is that all of my Google voice texts are also showing up in my regular message app. Because they're also beig sent to my regular mobile number
Sounds like something that is an issue with google voice. Probably should check the settings on that. Almost seems like there is a forwarding issue going on.
I figured it out here:

Broke voicemail

I am running the infuse gb rom. att has reset my voicemail several times and it still doesn't work. is anyone else having this problem
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997R using XDA App
whats not working? can you not acess it, can people not leave you messgaes, are you not getting a message waiting indicator, is the mailbox not regonizing your hitting buttons, any error messages heard by you or callers?
I wants me to enter a voicemail number. The at&t store couldn't figure it out either.I install youmail, it says I don't have any messages but I have a voicemail notification
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997R using XDA App
Press and hold the 1 button in your dialer. It will dial your voicemail. Back out and check the logs for last call. It will show you the number.
where you able to check via holding the 1 key, or is that when you are told to enter a voicemail number? and you are using youmail and or just downloaded that thinking it would help, att can help with att vmail but not youmail.

not sure if you fixed it... but i had the same issue when i first bought my infuse.
turned out that i wasn't even signed up for voicemail on this device (coming from iphone > blackberry).
i went into "manage features" on my ATT dot com, signed up for "enhanced voicemail ($1.99/mo, but i believe this is the most basic voicemail service offered for this phone), and problem was solved.
hope this helps, if you haven't already fixed your issue.

thats because with the iphone the "visual voicemail" 'is attached to the iphone data plan so when switched to new data plan it was removed, you can get basic voice mail for free, main difference btwn basic and enhanced are
Greeting Length - Maximum: 1/2min
Message Length - Maximum: 2/4min
Number of Messages - Maximum: 20/40
Days Messages Kept - New: 22/30
Days Messages Kept - Saved: 14/30

I came from the iPhone also - I was wondering why I didn't wasn't getting my voice-mail.. Instead of paying at&t a just used Google Voice for my voice-mail instead -its just as good as the visual voice-mail.
You mail changes your voicemail number to their number. Call att and ask them for your voicemail mail number the original one. I called and they gave it to me, this was after using Google voice and I wanted my original voicemail back.

[Q] Visual voicemail issues?

So I have tried with google voice and also t mobile visual voicemail. Neither work correctly. Tmobile doesn't even set up and while google voice sets up when a voicemail arrives I receive both the google voice and the regular phone voicemail. Any suggestions ?

If you're using one of the T-Mobile prepaid plans, I've seen in other forums where having T-Mobile turn off your T-Mobile voicemail fixes things. Check this out: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/voice/gbReID1_dIo and see if that's what you're experiencing, maybe their fix will work. Just an idea.
I'm not on prepaid so I decide to delete the app and reinstall seems to have gone well now I have to leave a vM to see if the issues persist
I don't know about the Google Voice, but someone else on here posted a solution for getting TMo Visual Voicemail to work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47245664&postcount=12
I initially couldn't get mine to run, but after I followed the instructions by B0xer, I was able to get Visual Voicemail started. In the end, he writes that you should install visual voicemail again, but I didn't need to. I just sent the sms, and then started the Visual Voicemail app, and all was fixed.

Voicemail -- NO notification

Yes, I have searched. It seems other people have a similar problem to mine. Some of the other problems I've read give me hope that there is some answer -- They get a voicemail notfication. I don't
Nexus 5, running Calkulin's stock ROM & Xposed framework with some mods applied by Xblast Tools. Sprint network.
The only notification I receive when a voicemail is left on my number is a blank text from 9479.
I have tried installing, uninstalling, reinstalling Google Voice. When it tells me to dial that long telephone number to verify my phone, I get a recording that tells me the code I have entered is not valid. When I try *38 from the GV Settings page, online, to deactivate voicemail, I get the same result. In short, NOTHING is working to make voicemail notification/access available on my phone. I can dial in and listen to my recording, after I get the text from 9479 -- that's it.
Anybody crack this one yet?

At&t visual voicemail

I can't get visual voicemail to work on my phone. Talked to tech support and after an hour of trying to help me, they said this device is not supported by AT&T.
I tried setting up Google voice on this phone, but the phone won't let it forward calls. I just get an error.
Any help greatly appreciated.
What was tried for vvm?
Is it enabled in the dialer settings?
Not clear what the problem with GV is.
Try dialing *004*xxx-xxx-xxxx# (substituting your GV# for 'xxx-xxx-xxxx') to get calls forwarding to GV when your phone is busy or unanswered
When I use the *004*xxx-xxx-xxxx# I get "call forwarding connection problem or invalid MMI code. (1)"
When I try call forwarding through the phone app settings, I get "network or sim card error"
Reading online a new sim card won't fix this. I have reset network settings and rebooted. I've call ATT text support, but they have no answers and tell me this is an unsupported device.
So I can't get att visual voicemail to setup and because I can't use call forwarding, I can't use Google voice for their visual voicemail.
Any suggestions?

That's the GSM code, works on AT&T and TMO, or at least did on my 3G phones.
Also seen **004*1xxxxxxxxxx# mentioned.

I tried both and get the same errors as before. You don't realize how much you miss a feature until it's gone. Standard voicemail sucks. Anyone else have a suggestion?
Maybe try 002 instead if 004?
(Though that forwards all calls. Could then deactivate with #21#)
Or the individual conditions using *67, 61, and 62.
https://www.geckobeach.com/cellular/secrets/gsmcodes.php
They worked with TF AT&T when I last had GSM, in 2015.
Also saw some posts suggesting that AT&T won't allow changes to Cinditional Call Forwarding from the phone now and to call to have them set/change it.
With the March security update, AT&T visual voicemail now works.
