I have used Samsung browser in the past for my Samsung phones. This is my first 1+ and I am hoping to get a better experience with less adds and equal or better speed. Any suggestions? No root please (if that's a thing for browsers).
Kiwi browser is pretty good, but it's a bit slow once you enable global dark mode and have multiple tabs open.
I just changed from Kiwi to Brave. Seems to be everything I need and unlike Kiwi, it hasn't frozen up on me.
Also, the OP7 Pro is awesome!
Just tried this set up, as i didn't root my device :
Chrome + Blokada (2/3 good lists + cloudflare dns) = fastest browsing exprerience i ever seen on a phone
Way faster than Chrome + AdAway on my rooted OP6
(I don't use kiwi or Brave because of lack of good sync with laptop)
I use brave but it misses video saving option. (Saving youtube video to mp4). Is it possible on android? I have that addon on firefox on windows
Naked Pro is totally worth the money!

stevenblack, energized blu, adaway and a small personal list based on my use
I've been using Brave, has almost everything I would get from Chrome and has built in adblocker.

Aloha browser does it for any video (I think). While it is not my preferred browser, I do use it for downloading videos only. I use Chrome for everything else.
Chrome for all my stuff...
A few years ago I was using Chrome, then Opera and now I switched to Brave. For me it's the fastest solution so far, so I'm happy with it
Kiwi for the night mode and Adblock, extension / bugs with some websites
Samsung browser for the night mode, Adblock. Sync and fast.
Firefox for external video player (open with vlc)… extension : dark mode, adblock
Brave didn't have the dark mode...
Chrome for experiments and Google sync...
Waiting for dark mode and extension compatibility
I use Brave with custom chrome flags and it's working great for me.
With the built in adblock and HTTPS upgrade by default it's a fairly security focused browser and it's also quick. I have adblock with Stephen Black hosts, Cloudflare DNS on top.

Here's what I've noticed from testing various browsers.
Samsung Internet: 60 Hz, full night mode, even on pages.
Chrome: 90 Hz, sort of dark mode, as page dark mode just inverts the colors.
Firefox: 60 Hz, couldn't find a dark mode.
Firefox Focus: 90Hz, couldn't find a dark mode.
Edge: 60 Hz, partial dark mode.
Kiwi browser: Froze on start up and crashed.
DuckDuckGo: 60 Hz, no dark mode.
If Samsung Internet could support 90 Hz, it'd be perfect!

My vote is for Tuga Browser if you care about security.

The way they do flash is a pretty neat idea. Heh. =)
It is back up on the Market, you can download it there.
someone try hulu -- i can't do it myself at the moment and i'm curious to see how it works(if at all)
Just tested it. Gotta say.
It's bad.
The pinch to zoom is horrible and I don't care if they can play flash. I'll wait for Froyo. Lol. Stock browser seems to be the best for me so far. Haha.

I agree, not running the way it does on the HD2. I will wait till the official beta release of flash 10.1 mobile!
It's nice, and playing flash is great, but it's pretty choppy.
I'll stick with Fennec for now, I can wait for an official Flash release.
Haven't tried pinch zoom, but flash playback worked flawless for me on tmo 3g. loaded up thedailyshow.com and was able to watch a full episode without an issue
Why don't they have this running like it was on my T-Mobile Dash 3G? This is garbage. No flash in the browser. Only flash videos. For example, Strong Bad Emails loads up on my Dash as it would on my PC, but with Skyfire for Android, all I get are those damn boxes with question marks in them. This is a huge let down. Not at all what I expected from Skyfire. As far as I'm concerned, this is fail. Especially with true Flash support around the corner from Adobe. Skyfire had a chance to beat them to the punch here, and they failed. Embarrassing if you ask me.
Doesn't seem to work with all flash videos but its still pretty quick. Anyone know of a good way to test this cloud speed compared to any other browser?
After trying it out for a few minutes i figured out that it does load most videos. I cant check hulu since im a canuck thought. sometimes you simply need to refresh the page and it will find the video. i also found that if you load up the video and it just shows a white box it will always freeze at 25%. This is easily fixed by backing out and reloading the video. Whenever i saw a screenshot of the video while it loaded, it always loaded full.
sites tried and all worked.
crackberry.com
ign.com
xvideos.com ( hey... its strickly educational!)
I cannot actually tell whether this is using the cloud as claimed or not.
For example, using opera mini and visiting what's my ip will show an Opera ip confirming that your days is traveling via opera and is bring compressed etc.
Skyfire doesn't - it shows my ip and renders almost identical to the stock browser. Pages do seem to load a but quicker but that could just be because I'm expecting them to.
maybe I'll run netstat and see whether skyfire actually connects to a skyfire server when rendering a normal page..

No need, I can tell you the answer:
All web pages/normal browsing is done on the device, and is rendered using webkit, and not through a proxy, a la Opera. This is the same reason videos can't be displayed inline. The only time the cloud is used is for transcoding video. If you were to watch a netstat while watching a flash video, you'd see your device connecting to Skyfire's servers.

That's pretty crap. One of Skyfire's attractions was that it worked like Opera Mini but rendered pages better. If its just the stock browser essentially with the ability to watch flash videos then it's of little value.
Lame D:
Keep in mind its still beta, it will get better.

In my opinion, it doesn't work any worse than the stock browser, so it's still worth using. You're still getting the ability to watch flash videos(which has worked well in my experience), plus you get sleeker tabbed browsing and easy user agent switching right in the toolbar.
The only Flash Video I have been able to get to play are the ones on the sites pre-bookmarked on the Stock Skyfire Homepage. When it doesn't work, I get the Video popup, click on it. The video loads, looks like it starts to buffer and then, instead of playing it reads something to the effect of, Content not available for your device. We're sorry for the Inconvenience.
I haven't tested a lot of sites but no Hulu, no YouPorn, and worst of all, no Sirius Satellite Radio, like i could do on WinMo a year ago.
On the plus side, its nice to have the full Google Voice site available on the phone and Google Wave seems to be rendering nicely.
Great start, flash works good for me on tmo 3g. Videos look great. Rendering is good and quick. Like others said pinch to zoom needs work, but this is now my second favorite browser behind HTC sense browser.
I tested
IGN - Works
Gametrailers - Doesnt
Espn - Works
Facebook - Doesnt
thedailyshow - works
Abc.com - Works! (watching full episode of better off ted !)
Worldstarhiphop - Works

Yeah, I tried it on the daily show as well, and it worked great. Due to the way this is set up, it'd be impossible for them to cover every site. I noticed they do have a 'report non-working video' option in the menu, so people may want to try using that to help improve the service.
I noticed that you can pinch to zoom and with two fingers still on the screen you can scoll around the page.
Original samsung browser wont work very well. What browser should i use?
I've been having nice results with the Dolphin HD browser so far.
Dolphin hd 4.0 and firefox mobile
Firefox Mobile for me, feels very fast but the fonts seems blurry sometimes.
Dolphin HD. Has the option to add AdBlocker... among many other add-ons.
I'm running Skyfire for the moment, it seems faster than the stock browser. I rried Dolphin as well but Skyfire seems a bit more stable and faster to me, but I have no benchmarks to back up my impression.
Dolphin HD all the way
Tried FireFox two days ago, but it was slow loading pages. The stock browser and Dolphin HD loads 50-80% faster.
Firefox mobile is fast...but the fonts are blurry because it takes a while to render especially if zooming.
Skyfire didn't seem as quick for me when zooming in.
I still ended up going back to Dolphin HD... I love the gesture support and use more of the add ons like shake to switch tabs, etc. I also think their interface is uch more refined

Xscope is way faster than dolphin, it has less bugs, and it can sync his bookmarks with the stock ones, which is a big plus for me, as I use the bookmark widget of launcher pro plus.

Any one manages to get the full bbc iplayer site workin over 3g?
Not the mobile version. I keep being redirected to the mobile site and then It states can not stream over 3g. I try to switch the agent to desktop then bbc states that my phone is not supported :s
This is on both stock browser and also Dolphin HD
Just downloaded Firefox 4 beta 2... just released.... it seems to be MUCH faster than beta 1 which I only tried yesterday. Rendering of text and zooming is quicker also. I can't seem to sync with the desktop version though....

Does it support Flash yet, though? If it does, I'll take another look. Otherwise, I'm trying to decide between Dolphin HD and xScope 6. xScope is a lot prettier, with the glaring exception of bookmarks, which it handles horribly - generating a sort of dynamic web page to list them rather than having a proper UI. No bookmark folders either.
I can't find any speed comparisons between Dolphin 4 and xScope 6, but subjectively they don't feel much different.
anyone know if there is a way to get the tabs browser on the sgs captivate? the tabs browser has the windows button next to the address bar and would be more convenient than stocks. (need stock due to some weird rendering issue with some sites)
Mate its just the stock android 2.2 browser with a few minor and mostly cosmetic changes.
But I've found its considerably slower (in opening web pages) than the browser on my 2.1 milestone.
Xscope6 is the best choice for me
Another vote for xscope. Its the best designed browser in terms of usability, speed and features. Would love to have plugin support though. I would consider switching to Dolphin HD if the interface wouldn't be so ugly (and oversized). Looks like an mp3 skin from 5 years ago. The fullscreen toggle in xscope rocks as well.
I can view anything at or above 360p from YouTube via default or dolphin browser?
The default YouTube app sucks dong cuz it buffers forever and I can't change quality of video...
If anyone know why I can't choose 360p in browser please let me know.
In the YouTube app there is HD button to switch between SD HD.
If you visit the desktop version of YouTube on the xoom you will have the same options as you would on your computer.
If you don't know how to do that search for about:debug ua string.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
I am running desktop UA but YouTube would not play anything above 360p in browser.
Is it only me?
I prefer YouTube in browser than the dumb app.
Same issue here, seems to have just started a couple of days ago as it worked fine before when watching 720p in the browser. Now no videos work in pluse, stock browser or dolphin. Just get "an error, try back later". So then I click to go to the YouTube page for the video and still does not work. The only way to work is to swtich the ua string to android, I use the dolphin toggle extension but it is very annoying to have to do this all the time, I don't want to view mobile site on my tablet. Wtf is Google doing this, why block tablets from seeing HQ video, the main differentiation between their offerings and the ipad.
My guess, something to do with copyright. I personally think that its stupid to block mobile video in the first place.
I have had no issues. 720p plays in browser. Check your settings for playback on the YouTube site. If that don't work. Clear data for browser. That will loose all your bookmarks etc though.

Youtube doesn't even play for me with the flash from manta rom...
I have the modified hulu version.
am also using modified hulu version....
In my version of the hulu flash, all I modified was the version number and from Android to Windows so unless youtube now actually verifies the version number along with the version type, that may be the reason. There is a new version of Adobe Flash released yesterday, I will modify it as usual and will report the results here since I can't do much with hex editing as that is the only known hack.

can you post please because I would like to watch YT on my xoom again.
If you all are still having troubles with your Youtube on the Stock Browser, Dolphin, Opera, or Firefox, can you please give me some more details on your settings?
When you say "Desktop Browser" are you refering to www.youtube.com and forcing it to stay that way or is it going to www.youtube.com and then changing to the mobile version, m.youtube.com?
(Only Stock Browser) Have you done the "Aboutebug" (Without quotes) mode and change your browser to LOOK like a desktop UI?
~~If you are using the "Aboutebug" Mode, are you running on Wi-Fi only or are you running 3g?
(Dolphin/Opera Browsers only) Have you gone in and changed the settings to make it look like a Desktop Browser or are you still allowing it to display as a Android Device?
When the videos do work, have you tried to clear your Cache and History to keep the information in the buffer low when you are just getting ready to watch videos/just after you are done watching videos? (I ask because I noticed on my Wi-Fi Stock Rooted Rom that if you do not use the Youtube App, it bogs down the Cache and the History just gets cluttered...)
Are you making sure there are not other applications running too and choking out the Browser UI's? (aka, getting a task manager and killing apps before you go into another app)
I hope to help you out, as well as others in the near future (be it advice or with the same problem) and get this problem resolved!
Thank You for the information in advance! ^_^
Sure,
When you say "Desktop Browser" are you refering to www.youtube.com and forcing it to stay that way or is it going to www.youtube.com and then changing to the mobile version, m.youtube.com?
=> No, I'm using desktop UA string so it is always www.youtube.com. I have to manually go to m.youtube.com.
(Only Stock Browser) Have you done the "Aboutebug" (Without quotes) mode and change your browser to LOOK like a desktop UI?
~~If you are using the "Aboutebug" Mode, are you running on Wi-Fi only or are you running 3g?
=> I have WIFI xoom so WIFI only.
(Dolphin/Opera Browsers only) Have you gone in and changed the settings to make it look like a Desktop Browser or are you still allowing it to display as a Android Device?
=> Yes, I am using desktop UA in dolphin as well. I don't see why using mobile UA on the tablet is usefull at all.
=> Videos ONLY WORK for me at 260p....doesn't matter whether I clear cache or history.
Are you making sure there are not other applications running too and choking out the Browser UI's? (aka, getting a task manager and killing apps before you go into another app)
=> Yes, rebooted and only running browser...tried many many times.
First, hello all im new here. Here is my question, how to i disable Youtube's DASH function in Android ICS ( 4.0.4). Can i be done using browser and if yes which browser? Im using Boat browser ATM.
If it cant be done from a browser, are there any apps that can disable DASH?
A few years ago, YouTube switched to a streaming protocol called Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP, or DASH for short. While it's more efficient in most cases, you probably know it best as the thing that only lets you preload the video a few seconds ahead of the playhead, no matter how fast your connection is.

Thank you for your time guys.
I've tried Chrome and Chrome Canary and enabling and disabling the Smooth Scrolling flag but I still get stuttering / not 90hz smoothness.
Any ideas? Do you notice the same thing?
First time using Chrome? Chrome isn't smooth in any phone. Nothing you can do.
Samsung browser is much much smoother btw.
Chrome on Android has never been very good for smoothness.
Samsung Internet Browser is the smoothest browser I’ve used on Android.
