For the people that got the 7pro already, is it Widevine L1?
If anyone has unlocked bootloader do u still retain L1 and do u still have FHD HDR playback on Netflix?
Thanks!

I did this. Unlock, boot-patch, magisk, edxposed, magiskhide props. DRM info still says L3

What's preventing you from re-locking your bootloader once you've flashed your custom recovery (eg TWRP) and thereby restoring L1 ?

Then that's even more sad. You can relock nexus devices and oneplus 5t and still boot custom roms.
You don't even have to unlock the bootloader to lose L1 security. All you have to do is in developer options, turn on OEM unlocking and you lose the L1 and will be L3. Once you turn that on... bye bye L1

No you can't. re-locking the bootloader will wipe everything on your phone by default including the entire internal storage. You don't get a say in the matter.

I've done it on nexus devices and it looks possible on 5t as long as you sign your images. Historically, relocking the bootloader only wiped data and your recovery and system partitions stay intact.
It sounds like you are saying that the oneplus 7 pro wipes system and recovery too ? (and therefore requires recovery from fastboot)

I had the Nexus 6P and the OP5 and OP6 and no matter what you do it doesn't let you do anything it is an automatic wipe of everything or people would root custom ROM and kernel and then just relock the bootloader and there would never bee a reason for Magisk hide for safteynet checks.
I can't speak to an nexus phone prior to the 6P but I have never seen a phone that would let you relock the bootloader with customer recovery and ROM and NOT BORK your phone.
Edit: Also, if you have custom recovery on your phone and you relock the bootloader... say your peace.

A locked bootloader does not automatically mean that you pass all safetynet checks. It originally just meant that you can only install images signed with a certain key via fastboot. Later, there were restrictions introduced such that you can only boot signed images too.

Nexus devices have always supported flashing a factory image from fastboot. You could always flash *vendor signed* images, regardless of locked state.

You said earlier it came like this? Did you buy this phone and then you turned it on and this happened? It's very important you explain as best as you can so I can help you properly.
The phone was simlocked . Someone unlocked it (he unlocked the bootloader and then unlocked it with a box) . The phone was then sold to a customer who said that he wanted to update OTA . Then the phone became bricked .

If you try to unlock the bootloader with fastboot flashing unlock does it work or do you get an error? If you can't unlock the bootloader and flash the full factory image, you will likely have to try to get it replaced by Google.

No, basically everything you described was a terrible idea and it makes zero sense to intentionally lock the bootloader of a phone you just finished hooking up to a black box to forcibly modify software.
Never lock the bootloader of a modified device, that is just a given.

Has the original poster tried to unlock bootloader again? The pic in the OP shows fastboot. That looks potentially hopeful. Hope that OTA wasn't 7.1.2
Hopefully the seller was legit, maybe the phone is still under warranty??? Waiting sucks, but if it's under warranty you can fix it for free. Might be worth the wait. If not if that's not an option...
I'm guessing this is a Verizon phone? If so, start worrying, bit don't quit, unless you are prepared to spend more money on a new phone. As long as you have fastboot, you have options.
His guys just got the xzp and wow what a phone my only concern is root I have a locked bootloader and it's not unlockable but to be fair I've never unlocked a Xperia bootloader due to loosing drm keys etc
So my question is will we be able to get root on locked bootloaders like we did with past Xperia phones or are we stuck unless we unlock which in my case would mead no root ever :crying:
Thanks
Probably not would be my guess. You still need to unlock bootloader on previous models such as XZ/XZS.

Like always, if a security breach is found on Android that allow getting root access, it will be possible to backup the DRM partition, then after if you like, unlocking the bootloader and then restore your DRM partition.
At least, it finished like this for the Z5, but you had to downgrade to Lollipop to get root access.
AFAIK, there is no known way to get root on Nougat today.

It's not possible anymore. You really need to unlock the bootloader in order to root. Something about patching the kernel.
Currently I am on stock OOS with a locked bootloader and I heard that when you unlock the bootloader the DRM gets downgraded to L3.
Is this correct and does it go back to L1 if you relock the bootloader?
Also, is there a hack of some sort that allows the device to continue using L1 DRM with an unlocked bootloader?
L1 not working
I unlocked bootloader and then relocked it again but it is still showing L3 what should i do

There's another thread in this forum that poses that exact question. No one to date has succeeded and I'm not sure it's even possible using the 5.6 boot exploit because Widevine calls home every time it proxies protected content.
I suggested chipping in on a bounty that would go to whomever can find a way to get L1 on a OP6 with its' bootloader unlocked using a method that would be successful with ROMs based on OOS, LOS and AOSP. I figured a little financial incentive could provide some motivation, but nobody else seemed willing to contribute. ?

Woah. Unauthorised seller eh. Are you sure you are running the Orginal MIUI? The reason Xioami started locking away the bootloader was cos of these unauthorised sellers, unlocking the device and flashing it with an outdated ROM. You should try, Go to Developer settings, link your current Mi account and then proceed to unlock. Or if it says an acc is already linked, lock the bootloader (only if on MIUI Stock, Custom ROM would lead to a bootloop), and now go link your account. (Do take backups before proceeding)

But I'm still gonna try to "unlock" it. And is there an option to keep all data after the unlock?
EDIT: I just read the Mi Unlock Tool's disclaimer and how they say some features won't work after the unlock. I mean, I know mine is unlocked but I think I'll just keep those features.

Usually the first time you unlock it wipes your internal storage , but it doesn't wipe it in the subsequent unlocks (as far as I've tried). Yep it doesn't actually affect any system functions.. everything is as smooth as before..Find my device works fine as well..the only risk is that if your device gets stolen they could easily wipe MIUI and bypass that account lock by flashing a custom ROM.

@raiprasant62 it is VERY CRITICAL that you have the correct stock ROM variant for your model installed before relocking bootloader or it'll lock and give a corrupt device warning and fail to boot!!!!
The ONLY safe way to relock bootloader is to use Motorola Rescue and Smart Assistant tool and then boot into the ROM and then attempt relocking

As far as I know, there's no working TWRP currently, but I will keep looking. I haven't seen anyone talk about using it.

Yeah it seems so.
Like you said in post #5, it seems the most important thing is to make sure to have correct version of stock rom installed for correct model. Outside of that, it just seems there aren't many people relocking in order to confirm it. But it seems like it should work like with any other phones. I've seen other Motorola users (for other models) that it relocks fine. I'm not sure where it came from that this phone can't do that, maybe it was a misunderstanding.

Interesting. I've been outside the world of Android stuff for a few years and have been relearning everything, or some new things that have changed.
Is there a way to check the state of these things via an app or rooted file explorer or are this things inaccessible to us, in terms of modifying or viewing them?

Has anyone successfully relocked the phone and checked Widevine L1 status after relock?
I read somewhere here that once unlocked.. this phone can never get L1 back and is stuck on L3 forever. But I can't find where. I wonder if it's speculation or has anyone actually tried it?

I don't know how to check that but after relock I was able to use Google wallet without any hacks. Also unlock again was not a problem. Now I am on stock 13 ROM rooted. That works good for me.
