Hi
So I have a lenovo A5000, I upgraded lately to lollipop 5.0.2 and it worked kinda fine ( with few bugs in wifi) but it was working, until they issued another update and I made it hoping they'll fix these bugs. In fact they did, but they ruined another thing, the most important thing which is calling.. now the phone can't read SIM cards, and obviously can't make calls.. I've been waiting for a FIX update for more than a month now but in vain can you please help me?
The update version is "a5000 s124-151118 8g row" (the actual one, the one that ruined the phone)
I appreciate any help!
IMEI Lost
Yours is an MT6582?? It is an older SoC with a lot of solutions already availble , check my library for anything of use : https://cloud.mail.ru/public/4y1e/8EmB3askZ . I am a long time MTK/Lenovo starting 4 years ago with my first Lenovo on MT6582 QuadCore now I am on MT6592 OctaCore. When you say update you mean OTA update? ? Lenovo OTA is prone to cause "bootloop", black screen, softbrick in 95% of the case , you are one of the lucky ones who manage to update without those issues (albeit with WiFi/IMEI issues) MTK firmware structure is different from Qualcomm/Intel devices since it installs the modem drivers in seperate memory segment and will be reinstall everytime you reflash or do OTA and therefore bound to loose IMEI (you will have to rewrite the IMEI check on your giftbox for the number -hope you didnt throw away the box) Please visit Lenovo Russian Forum for firmware : http://lenovo-forums.ru/talks/ or http://4pda.ru/devdb/phones/lenovo for full Lenovo support rather Lenovo International Forum which doesnt help users at all. Please use Google Chrome with tranlator installed to vist Russian site.

Thanks for replying buddy
Well yeah it is an MT6582. yeah it's an OTA update, from the update center in settings. I did update it almost 4 times before, I mean before upgrading to Lollipop, well the first upgrade was okay as I said with only few bugs, but the second one after lollipop was the one who messed the sim
I didn't have any problem from the ones you mentioned above, the phone boots normally.. but I don't know about the IMEI thing, how can I do that, I still have the box!
what do you think about taking it back to the provider, I mean the warranty is still not void, will they be able to get me back the original firmware(Kitkat) or the new working Lollipop... do you think they accept such things?
okay, I'll check out the forum for more informations :good:
thanks a lot, again
Sending back to Lenovo service center is the best option ( i.e. Lenovo official service center not an agent , distributor) You are still good on warranty ( within 12 mths) and you have not rooted it or open the covers. Its your choice , if you want to " learn" how to restore IMEI/ NVRAM for MTK you are welcome to try. ( If there is an MTK device in your future purchase) it doesnt happen on all MTK but once in awhile we at Forums do get request to restore IMEI ,some users succeeds n some dont when they fumbled on the method given.
Vodafone Smart V8 (VFD 710)
Specification:
You can find the specification for the phone here: gsmarena.com/vodafone_smart_v8-8744.php
Official ROM (Update.zip)
You can download the official firmware for the phone from the ZTE Device Support page: ztedevice.com/support
You are searching for VFD 710 when it says select product.
Rooting & TWRP
There is no current method available yet but there is the recovery.img which is available inside of the update.zip which can be downloaded from the ZTE device support page which should lead to TWRP being developed and then root can come along.
Please do post any successful rooting methods or port of TWRP as it can help many others!
PLEASE DO REMEMBER THAT NO ONE HERE IS RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS UP YOUR DEVICE IN THE PROCESS!
Is it possible to install the Google pixel camera and this phone?
Has cpu Snapdragon
Why no ROMs yet? It's a decent phone
Its kinda weird that nobody cares about that phone...
Yes, that was an excellent budget phone 3 years ago, but there was no solution for unlock.
well as we all know, backing up DRM keys is possible with MM but our device doesnt have a MM FW.
is it possible to simply port a MM FW from older sony devices and make it compatible with the XZP? then we can simpley backup DRM and get on with unlocking
is that possible or is it impossible?
It is impossible resulting in a bricked device. The problem is qualcomm Sd835 drivers/libs
Only with a dumb luck so that the libs for qualcomm 820 devices recognizes 835 as generic processor and allow it to boot. But is near 0 percent possible
But who knows if the bootloaders allows that firmware to boot.
The real problem here is android as not being able to boot on same soc's firmwares like Windows does, then when loaded to search for drivers. If you move one hard drive with win7 for example installed on Intel, you have many chances to boot that win on amd processor. That is not true for Android. I am waiting the day when win10 arm will boot Any android device.
But as I have said in a previous post, that will still ruin our warranty. To unlock bootloader you need permision from sony. And then sony will know the phone imei.
Why even bother when is a sollution for drm fix?
Aaa, you should have asked if having drm keys will open Doors for gcam hdr!+ and other software. No, that will not happen. The real problem for sony devices is their encrypted stuff.
Hello everybody,
Do you know any smartphone OEM/ODM vendors in China who can supply Snapdragon-based devices with a custom pre-installed Android ROM?
I need device with custom (my own) signing keys in order to prevent boot screen yellow/orange warnings.
I have contacted multiple vendors but they only seem to work with MTK.
Thanks!
