I'm trying to get Google Smart lock working in MIUI stock, but rooted with magisk.
I managed to access the smart lock settings using an app (requires root), but even after configuring it, nothing works.
After searching (a lot) online, I think some people managed to make it work using xposed with xmiui in previous versions of MIUI, but the project seems dead and I don't think there is xposed for Android 9 yet.
Anyone has any idea what we can do to make it work?
I have it working with MIUI Eu weekly roms, 9.1.24 to be specific.
Did you do anything beyond just flipping switches to turn it on?
I'm currently on globe ROM, which is based on xiaomi.eu 9.1.24. I can get to the interface and enable smart and voice unlocks, but they don't actually function.
Maybe due to themes modifying lock screen? Are you using stock or a custom theme?

From what I've read, the easiest thing to do it you want BT unlock in a car is buy an older Mi band really cheap and leave it plugged in in the car. Guess the only 'trustable' devices in MiUi are other Xiaomi devices.

This is kind of ridiculous. My guess is that if it works on Xiaomi.eu ROM, there is a possibility of doing a Magisk mod to make it work on the global ROM. Outside of this bug, I'm quite satisfied with the global ROM and don't necessarily want to switch to Xiaomi.eu...
If someone has any clue as to what is needed to make it work, I can try to work on a magisk module for that.
Wtf
This is the reason as soon as custom ROMs appear I use them, this is one thing they definitely taking the wrong approach to.
I can change this on my Note 7
- System & Device
- Lock screen & password
- Advanced settings
- Unlock with Bluetooth device.

Has the camera app improved in Oreo?
Has anyone successfully tried flashing NMI81C to an unlocked device? I can't imagine there'd be a problem, but if no one has done it or seen any problems with it then I know what I'm doing when I get home tomorrow. That was the last build my bluetooth music controls worked with, so I'm pretty excited to be able to flash back to it.

I do not think any app was updated. Unless there is some API in Oreo that would inherently improve the cam.

Oreo running great...only found one bug dealing with wifi hotspot and not being able to select 5ghz as the band to use.
Since flashing Oreo last night I am getting excellent battery life and it appears that I may do better than I was on Android nougat. Personally I really like this phone and no the camera is not the best but for $450 this is probably the nicest phone anyone can hold in their hand at any price point. Once the dads get interested because of price and we can get a port for the Huawei camera I'm sure this camera would do very well

Nice, I will try to flash the Oreo beta of the Unlocked version to my Sprint variants. BTW, do you happen to know how to trigger the UICC unlock menu without having to have the Sprint sim in there and activate the phone? Sprint reps told me the phone is unlocked on their end, but my phone still say invalid sim because the UICC unlock menu has not been activated on the phone itself. Would flashing the unlocked firmware solves this?
Only downside for me so far on the beta is battery life.
On nougat I would go to bed with 100% battery and wake up with 100%.
On Oreo I woke up with like 97%. Keeps dying quicker during the day as well, but this is expected as they mentioned the Oreo framework wasn't optimized for battery life yet.

Not only does it work but definitely recommended as you will get the latest fingerprint sensor fix as well as better screen touches.
I am coming up on 24 hours into this Oreo beta, and it's my daily driver. So far, so good. Battery life seems a bit better for me, although it was great before - hard to do an apples to apples comparison though. No bluetooth issues, in fact, this seems a bit better with Plantronics Voyager/Legend than before - haven't tried in the car yet. I had one spontaneous reboot (I wasn't using it, just sitting on the desk and I noticed it rebooting) but so far, I can't see any reason not to charge ahead. The install did turn off wifi calling, I had to re-enable that. No service/signal issues (on T-Mobile in central Texas).
Like the title says, ask me whatever you want about the 1+6. This could be useful if you are considering to buy this amazing phone!
Debating between this phone and the mi mix 2s. By all counts the OP will have better development, and the headphone jack is a plus. The mix really has style and wireless charging. But unconfirmed reports that Android pay didn't work. Does Android pay work on a stock OP? Is it seen as certified on the Google store (can I play Netflix?). I don't plan on rooting or installing an after market ROM until later in life (if OP stops supporting it). Also how does OP handle the warranty in the US? Basically there isn't one on the mi mix 2s which is a big minus.
I'm coming from a LG V20 so I debate whether or not to upgrade at all considering it has almost everything lol

Q: Does Android pay work on a stock OP?
A: Yes! Google pay works with the Oneplus 6
Q: Is it seen as certified on the Google store?
A: Sort answer, yes. I didn't have any problems with the Google play store on my device.
Q: Can I play Netflix?
A: yes, Netflix works fine on my device.
Q: How does OP handle the warranty in the US?
A: I'm not sure, I haven't looked into this yet. I'll keep you up to date if I know more information about your question. But I'm pretty sure the warranty is alright.
Some extra information:
- Don't let the 1080p screen hold you back. The screen is gorgeous and you won't see the pixels.
- Screen on time is about 4 and a half hours with average usage.
- Dash charge does what it's promised to do.
- The Oneplus 6 is for my small hands a two handed phone.
I hope I answered all your questions well!
Best regards,

Hi! I'm planning on making the OP6 my first OnePlus Device.
I also plan on getting the 6T later as well. I know that seems pointless. But I like have 2 major devices from a company for a years run..
Anyway, I know the phone is brand new and we have to see how things go, but, do you think there will be ROM support for this device? Given that it had the dual partition system (A&B style) would it be worthwhile to get the OP6 for ROMs right now?
My only want is to Root & ROM the phone. I have a LG G6 & V30, both from T-Mobile and have no dev supoort or ROMs. I like them both but I miss LineageOS and that's actually why I'm buying the OP6.
In your opinion, should I expect to see ROMs like LineageOS for OP6 or should I just wait and get the 6t.
I'm just trying to justify it to myself, especially now that the Nylon bumper case is sold out and that's the one I wanted. Ha, minor detail holding me back. Obviously I'll snag a Karbon Bumper hopefully..

Wow is that the reason they say they removed fp gestures? This didn't make sense because it's the same size as the fp sensor on the s8 and so she fp features work on those devices. So I wonder if this new sensor just doesn't support gestures or if it can be added back in from a custom rom?

First of all I must excuse me. Because I live in the Netherlands, my phone's language is set to Dutch.
First go to you security settings, then press the little settings circle. Now you should see some sort of a timer. Change this timer value to something more then 0 sec (instant lock). Ow and toggle the instant lock slider for when you press the power button
I've been using the face unlock feature on my Poco F1 since I got it. I'm running the latest XiaomiEU MIUI 10 Stable + Sphinx Kernel. No other mods.
Although it doesn't recognize the faces of my friends or relatives today I decided to test it with my sister who is 6 years younger and she managed to unlock it with her face.
I deleted my face data and took new one just in case and we tested again with the same result - she unlocked the phone again.
Face Unlock is not secure against relatives who look like you, test it out with your brothers/sisters just in case.
Yes, when you add your face in the settings there is a warning for tell you isn't secure.

It's because you have changed the kernel, which disables the infrared camera driver and thus making the face detection feature less secure. Test the same on factory ROM

Of course face data depends on the face so if you look alike with your sister it is really possible to unlock your phone that's why fingerprint scanner is more secured than face unlock.

That kernel doesn't disable IR CAMERA because it contains the driver for it!!! The only kernel available that can do that actually (as i know of)

IR works, it lights up in red. I can also access the IR camera from MIUI Hidden Settings app.
There's the possibility that something else has been modified responsible for face unlock but I'll need to test.
I tried IR UNLOCK as well with sphinx kernel while covering front camera (not IR camera) and it's working phone unlocks... So no Front basic camera is working to unlock

Yes, my older brother opened it. I was taken aback, I am using the official stable roms.
Good thing I don't look closer to my relatives.
I also faced an issue where my phone can unlock by my brother and evey sister
Yesterday, miui 10 already rolled and I get updated. Technically, I and my brother already tested the Face unlock on miui 9.6.25 it definitely can't unlocked by my brother. After miui 10, my brother can easily unlocked my phone within 1 second,I was shocked we tested so many times and it's show same result. Even though my sister also can unlock it within one second,it is ridiculous.
The Face unlock become worst after miui 10 update.
As we all know the recent pixel 4 only has face unlock, is there any possibility that will come into our custom ROMs? I don't mean to tell other biometric auth are not worthy, but a dedicated face unlock would mean we can completely avoid miui for good as the complete hardware can be properly utillised
This post is just a discussion if this is a possibility or not. Others who find it offense leave now.
No. The pixel 4 has the proper sensors for face unlock. Poco doesn't.

If mi 8 roms can be ported to poco f1 with different face unlock between both then why won't this be possible? (Mi 8 has a 3D face unlock similar to pixel4 or iphone, poco has 2D face unlock)
And other than the extra soli sensor i dont see anything else different in this case

Nope, mi 8 have the same face authentication like poco, mi 8 Explorer edition it's the unique xiaomi with 3d method. Whatever, you can't "port" a hardware feature, you only can adapt it to the hardware you have, but it's not the same, the pixel 4 got a very specific biometric hardware. You can see the same interface in the app, but this no supposed work as same.

The pixel 4 has 2 ir sensors (as does the iPhone X series) meaning it is capable of 3d face unlock. It's nothing to do with soli
As you will know, the F1 only has 1 ir sensor, allowing 2d face unlock but not 3d

I guess you are talking about custom ROMs as I am on stock MIUI and nobody else can unlock my device by using their face. I have tested multiple times and the results were the same.
To implement the softwares we don't need the hardwares as exact right? Maybe a few actions could be removed and just accept the 2d data alone?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it the ir implementation is proprietary - a xiaomi thing rather than being baked into Android. As such a custom rom would need to include the ir face recognition solution xiaomi developed, which isn't available to anyone else
Of course, the old camera based face unlock is still available, if that's if any use to you
I remember now, lineage os tried making a face unlock for pie and they got the libs for the ir camera, there was some legal issues and then they had to discard the development. That's why we won't get the ir camera unlock for any of custom ROM...

MIUI roms (non port) indeed has proper face unlocking process; it cant even unlock if my eyes are closed but in CRdroid (with the claim of IRcam working) still unlock the phone even when I close my eyes.
