Market issues HAVE NOTHING TO DO themes!!!

On every theme thread people keep reporting that the theme is causing the problem, they're NOT!!! The Market has had issues since 1.6, and they continue with 2.1, and the Market issues aren't just related to the X10.
Go to start a new thread and type "market issue", and you will see that other brands and handsets suffer from the problem too.
I know I haven't modded the Market app, and know that others haven't too, had we of done there might be something to suggest it's the theme, but we haven't and it isn't!!
Just uninstall the market update from "manage applications" and all should be well
Never said it was your fault mate. But it is something that is easily replicated for me. I only use your theme so do not have a comparison.
I am NOT complaining, I choose to do these things to my phone and I am aware of the risks.
The market seems to be getting worse rather than better, really wish they would pull their finger out and sort it.
I have no problems clearing market cache etc.....
Something about the process of applying themes certainly does seem to upset the market though, but like I said, I do not hold you responsible my friend.

I'm just saying as it's been said on every theme thread despite the issues existing since 1.6 and with other phones too.
Hate to say I told you so
Definitely not a theme thing. I've seen this happen with a fresh firmware install.
It has something to do with the Market update, and as others have said simply uninstalling the market update fixes the problem every time.

And like I've said, the Market app hasn't been modified by any themer as far as I'm aware and as pointed out it's happened on a fresh install for one person which supports what's already been said.

They are aware of the problem for a longer time, but instead of making it better they just keep sliding downhill...it seems to be complicated. There were several times devs couldn't add their apps because of maintenance, so they are trying to solve it.
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
I know this has nothing to do with themes, because since I upgraded to 2.1 it happens to me almost once every other day. I just uninstall updates and it goes back to normal. It is obviously a Google issue.
If you guys have titanium backup pro, try using the its new feature of applying the market update directly into the rom (system/app). This seems to have increased stability for me. If you don't have the pro version, you can still move it via root explorer or adb.

I installed the theme step by step. but seriously the mearket stop working. it forces closing. it downloads as usual, but the problem is when it install, force closing.
can not install.
but i really like the theme. looks so mmwaaaaa !
i just repaired my phone.
is there a way to stop that stupid market updater?
it messes up my eternity theme, and disables appbrain FWInstaller :'(
Reedz, it isn't the theme mate. I believe it's simply the act of messing with those files that upsets market. I can often get the same result messing with other files. It is simply 'twitchy'.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Guys i got the way to solve this, you need to navigate to settings/applications/manage applications/market/ then in market uninstall updates.
go back to market and start downloading as usual.
hope it helps.
these things happen often , if one is decided to mod and go against the shipped ROM , then we have to anticipate such things ...
anyway as Reedz posted , the solution simply worked... XperiaX10user , keep up the good work , whatever ,and however much we work , Sh!t just happens out of nowhere ... , anyway i am ur fan man... waiting for ur next release , hoping that you get on to more color and rich combo of colors...

Yep. I did that and was able to download as usual. The next time I opened the market after that it was the updated market again though so there doesn't seem to be a way to suppress it completely. However, after the market upgraded itself the second time (after the uninstall updates step) the new market worked perfectly fine with my modified theme. No issues.

Quit yer *****ing people

Go to any forum and they complain about the update... Every single phone I've had... People want it, but expect no issues lol.... No green status bar? Oh no, lol. Imo the rom rocks, especially gps and signal...
Thanks lg. I love this phone...
fix for green status bar
well unfortunately people are going to ***** about anything and everything especially since forums like these give complainers and whiners a voice to do so. some of the thing people ***** about with their phone is out right silly like i saw one person complain that it was about .5 sec lag on his phone and wanted the dev to fix it.
I agree. So far, the update has fixed all of my complaints about the phone. No more wacky battery readings, GPS is very fast (faster than any phone I've had before), and I get about 7.4 megs down over 4G. The only bug I've noticed is that, when disabling/enabling WiFi, the screen will become unresponsive until I hit the back button. Strange, but I'm also using Go Launcher which may be causing the problems.
LG finally delivered and we've got the two "big names"--CM7 and MIUI--on the G2X as well. I have no regrets about buying this phone.

The G2x is a stock gingerbread phone. Stock gingerbread has a status bar that changes to green when connected to Google services, is it that big a stretch to expect that feature? But that is far from a big deal, the main gripe seems to be that LG has been presumably working on this update since before launch, and the best they can come up with is a slightly updated baseband? No updated kernel? Reports of people still having problems (though not as severe) since the update?
The problem with waiting this long to update is that people expect major improvements. Hell, I was halfway expecting 2.3.4 for taking this long. Say what you want about HTC, but they usually release at least multiple bugfix ota's for their phones within the time it took LG to release 1.
I don't see it as whining as much as failure to reach expectations. Besides, even if it was, isn't this thread just whining about the whiners?

exactly, vibrant was forever long for a update. And it was again, the same, not perfect, either was the n1 updates. Regardless there will always be bugs like the green signal bars which xboarders already fixed.
I had the Green Status Bar Fix up a few days ago... It's in the "Themes" section.

I understand feeling pissed about hacking these phones and it not working right. I suggest if you have properly installed a custom recovery that you flash a simple rooted Gingerbread rom. Everything will work like a charm, all features. Make sure to go into clockwork mod, wipe data, wipe partition, wipe dalvic cache and flash the rooted gingerbread rom. Reboot and enjoy.
If you don't like gingerbread and you want a great ICs rom, use the EaglesBlood AOSP 4.04 ICS rom. I think it works great. Some things do not work on this rom though. Because the devs do not have the source code from Nvidia they can not make the video camera work. Netflix will not display video. The wifi calling does work. Data drops have been addressed.
So there is my two cents. Hope that is helpful.
or better yet, if you haven't already, update the phone to the stock 2.3.4 update that was just released and see if it solves your phone problems.
If your phone is in warranty then call t-mobile and tell them how your phone is freezing and yadda yadda. They should exchange it for a new one
Appreciate the feed back. I think I'm done with tmo altogether though. My data speed with them is like 1.5 mbs compared to my buddy's Verizon which is at 11.5 mbs were in Riverside ca

I actually am trying to make my phone use stock 2.3.3 and I find that it froze overnight while charging, froze overnight without even plugged in!!!!!
And the only reason I'm even going for STOCK is because the dam Simple Mobile Sim will not work on CM7. It runs better on CM7 but the unreliable GPS, and other settings I needed to apply just so that it wouldn't freeze anymore.
I moved on the GS2 T989 for now. I'm not thrilled with the phone honestly, but wins points for reliability. Never fails, just works. Only had 1 random reboot in the month I've used it.
I want to give away my G2X to a friend or relative, but I don't want to, because I know they will hate me for it. Its cruel to give someone a phone like this and trash talk and blame Android for it. Its not the ROMS or the OS, its the piece of **** phone.
Thankfully I don't have to deal with it so much on a regular basis.
Ohh I know like I said I'm not blaming devs or android for that matter. I mostly blame myself for going "first dual core phone, err I want dat" and goin and buying it rather than researching first.

LG seems to have some piss poor quality control. I must have gotten lucky with mine, though it had some issues of its own that got fixed by flashing roms/kernels.
To your last point, I will never again buy a phone without scoping out the development and opinion from these forums. Even if it means I have to wait a few months and not have the phone right away.

I've been experiencing the same thing. I get so many crashes, lag, reboots on CM 7.1 stable which is the latest I have been running. Ive tried EB and some others, and they were all plagued with similar issues.
I'm essentially done with Android. You never know what the hell you're going to get as far as how the phone works, and it takes way too much time and effort to get things to work correctly. I just want something that works well out of the box. I had the G1, Nexus S, and this, and I can't stand Android anymore. Google doesn't even care enough about it to update their Nexus line on time.
I love my POS

I can flash back to stock and live with the little things that are a little messed up, just can't stand stock battery life, but with any of the cm7 roms my phone is better then most my friends, and even help convince some of my iOS friends to go android. Never seen this... but I have never run antivirus software on my phones...
Here's why.
False detection. That's right, it's only an update away from notifying you that the Play Store is an unwanted application.
Incompetence... Yeah it can detect something, but can it remove it? I remember when I used to run avast on my XP machine, it would detect the virus but couldn't remove it!
They're bloated. For the most part, they eat away at your battery using cpu cycles every hour or so doing unneeded scans. And also unnecessarily scan safe apps just downloaded from the play store.
And lastly... I don't install any non-market apps, which almost completely forgoes the need for any such software. Sure there's plenty of malware for android, but almost all of it comes from 3rd party app store sites (what tech blogs don't tell you about the increasing number of android malware).
So play it safe and install trusted apps from the play store and you won't have a need for malware detection software.
My 2 cents.
Have you ever heard of any viruses from downloading xda apps or mods?
Sent from a Paranoid Blaze
SuperSU is classified as a PUP because it can update itself and has root access. Its not malware, but it is something that could potentially be used maliciously.
Just like antivirus software for computers. There's always going to be false positives.
I use comodo for my comp and phone I get a heck of a lot less false positives than other av software.
I use avast. Has call block features, anti theft, firewall and a few other nifty things. You can install it as root and it survives ROM flashes. Best for android IMO.

Actually, nothing will survive a wipe and flash. If you're rooted, avast does survive factory resets since it can install itself as a system app on ruled phones.
