WiFi automatically turns on - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Questions & Answers

Hello,
I have MIUI Global, 10.0.3.0 version, and from this update my WiFi automatically turns on, when I'm in range of my router. I haven't find any option to disable this behavior. Is there a way to do that?

Try under settings - additional settings - privacy - location - scanning and turn the WiFi option off.

Just what I was looking for, thank you!

No worries! Never where you can just find it quickly haha

[Q] Location determination problem

I cannot have a location fix when i am in ''Battery saving mode'' in "Settings" "Location" and Cellular data is ON , Wi-Fi and GPS is turned off. If i turn on Wi-Fi my location can be determined and i have a fix.
It must be a problem with my phone, when i swap my simcard into my other phone a Samsung Galaxy Advance with Jelly Bean all functions are normal and having a location fix using cellular networks only.
Anyone having this issue also ?
I am on stock Rom 5.0 Lollipop rooted with cf-root.
Do a quick search of what battery savings mode is and you'll have your answer.

I am not sure what you mean exactly, i am trying to get a location fix without using GPS.
''Battery saving'' means "Use WI-Fi and cellular networks to determine location" and i am not getting a fix ever using this option when Wi-Fi and GPS is turned off.
When i try to get my location in Google Maps where i am at that moment it will only show my last accurate Wi-Fi location.

Lollipop CM12 Privacy Guard - Location always active?

It seems as if location is always active in CM12. Is this true?
I've CM12.1 installed on my Nexus 5. I use it without GApps.
Except when I'm abroad, I never use WIFI and keep it disabled. I rarely use GPS, when activating it I use GPS only mode.
When I enter the advanced privacy settings in Privacy Guard I get the following under location:
As I cannot post a screenshot, here is what it says:
Android System - monitor location (used 11 times), coarse location - running
Settings Wi-Fi scan (used 93 times), coarse location - 0 min ago
How can this happen when WIFI is disabled? On Kitkat this was not the case.
Is it possible to get rid of this behavior? I do not want Settings to constantly scan WIFI and Android System monitor my location. This is very annoying.
If it is really constantly active it also will drain the battery faster.
No one has got more info on the "Wi-Fi scan (used 93 times), coarse location - 0 min ago" in CM12?
My WiFi is disabled. So is this just a fake entry of the privacy guard or is there actually a Wi-Fi scan going on with WiFi disabled?
I'm cueless
Same issue for me.
How can I stop the android system (in cm12) scanning my location.... always?!
Thanks a lot for your help!

WiFi Auto Connects to Any Open Network

So my wifi scans and then autoconnects to any unprotected open wifi network. I live in a city so this means every museum, coffee shop, hotspot, etc., that I pass, the phone auto connects temporarily to that network only to tell me after that it 'smart disconnected' because the signal strength dropped (as I, for example, keep walking down the street).
Some solutions online suggest turning off wifi when I leave my house (not an option), forgetting each network it does this to (not practical), and pulling up an advanced menu that doesn't appear to exist in our touchwiz version of marshmallow.
Anyone have any ideas? I only want to connect to a network automatically if I previously entered a password for it. This is how every other android phone I ever owned did it.
If you go to settings > wifi > more > advanced. You can turn off "network notification" and "hotspot 2.0" that should fix it.

WiFi Notifications was already off and I don't have hotspot 2.0 (I am on verizon and it looks like they may call it "Passport"), but that is also off.
Any other ideas?
Darn. That's all I know so far. I'm still exploring this thing while trying to figure out my wfii-play store mystery.
Hopefully this isn't one of those 'features' that turns out to be a bug like getting rid of silent mode in lollipop.
Hope someone else comes up with something.
I'm having the same issue as well, but I do not have an advanced setting under more.

Same here, no advanced setting under more. S7 edge exynos Netherlands.
Some apps call for quick connect via Bluetooth and WiFi. There is a setting to disable this.. Sorry but don't remember where is it. Only hint it is hidden well.

Any way to get data connection to auto on/off?

Still stock. Have wifi on/off in smart settings per location but I still need to manually turn data connection on/off which defeats the purpose of having smart wifi settings. Anyone know?
Root first for best result !

This work nice on Android 4.4.2. and maybe 99% above. Work perfect with root, not sure without and new Android. Auto 3G for root type "Root LG G5 (HighONAndroid lgg5root.com)" . Work perfectly for me !

use the app called - Llama location profiler. great app.
Thanks, although I don't like how it's constantly checking your position in the background even if you don't need it to.

Where does Android get its location updates from?

I have installed a fake GPS application (Lockito) and set it up as Mock Location App. It doesn't actually matter which one I use, it's always the same behaviour.
I start a route, but it's jumping to my real location every 4 to 5 seconds, stays there for a similar amount of time and jumps back to my faked location.
My understanding is that this mock locations dev option would overrule ANY location update from somewhere else, but seems it isn't.
What I tried:
- Device administrator: turn off any administrator
- Location set to "GPS only".
- turn off wifi scanning
- smalli patch activated in magisk (with mock location checked)
- fused location on (or off) -- no change in behaviour
- Using the "experimental mode" of Fake GPS routes: no change in behaviour
- Google Play Services 21.2.12-16 (I tried uninstalling the current version, but this leaves my fake gps app not working)
- Installing the app as a system app (restart afterwards): no change compared with the normal
- Google Maps 10.47.1 (reverted this back to 9.26.1)
So, what I'm wondering is: what process is injecting my real location?
And should that even happen when using the mock locations? As far as I know if I would be using mock locations it should just use this info as my gps information... And not use any other data?
Does anyone have any hints on what I can still try?

Find your location settings on system settings, select your Google account then turn off location accuracy, you want the location setting on, but you don't want the improved accuracy.

Thanks. This I knew already. Yesterday night I finally figured it out what was going on & posted it here: forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83200513&postcount=6163.
