[Q] Rooting problem, don't know if I should turn off phone or what

Hey guys,
I just received a TMobile HTC S One today to replace my Iphone. I want to use it with straight talk, but I need to root the phone to unlock it first. I've been following the instructions I was pointed to here on the site, and when I got to the following step, I got stuck:
Type this into your command prompt window fastboot oem get_identifier_token
All my CMD prompt box is saying is < waiting for device >
I'm getting no lines of info like the tutorial says I should. I'm kinda nervous because I have my phone powered on and plug into the computer on that white fastboot use screen with teh android guys on skateboards at the bottom. Can anyone help? I really hope I didn't mess up a phone I just spent over $300 on. I'll be here waiting if anyone can give me a hand. Much appreciated.
Have you enabled the device usb debugging mode? It's under the "developers" options. Use the HTC One S All In One to root it as it's so much faster

I tried doing the all in one and I get the very same result. When it goes to do that step nothing happens.
Install HTC Drivers in fastboot.

Soft bricked Nexus 0with locked bootloader - HELP :(

Hey guys - I hope some of you can help me out
I have stocked Nexus 9
No developer options enabled, no USB debbuging, no allow OEM unlock!
I received OTA upgrade with which I proceed to install
But it failed somehow.
Right now it only tries to boot - reboot once and goes into the dead android sign with Unknown Command from where I can access recovery Mode
I can access bootloader but it is locked
Therefore I am not able to fastboot anything
I cannot unlock it as I did not allowed that in the settings
Is there any way around it?
Cheers

Adb, CMD Device not listed please help

Model: MAH-L09C432B156
EMU: 5.0
Android Ver: 7.0 NOT ROOTED!
No access to Devlepoer options for USB Debugging
Hi I have a Huawei Mate 9 which is FRP locked, I have gained the unlocking code from Huawei and have all relevent software and instructions to unlock Bootloader and remove the FRP protecton but I am really struggling with connecting the device in CMD with adb.
I have drivers installed and have allowed connections to phone with HiSuite on device and PC, I am unable to get into Developer settings due to FRP protection bur according to what I have seen in every walkthrough shows that this should not be a problem, even though I am unable to enabe USB debugging. Anyway I did have it connected once but have not been able to since so if anone can tell me where i might be going wrong I would be grateful.
After resetting phone and following instuctions via Huawei to prepare device I hold Vol- and plug in USB to Boot into Fastboot/Recovery mode.
Open CMD and execute Adb.exe in command, after that I enter command \adb devices which gets deamon running but showing no device.
I have tried going into what settings I am able to enter and enable USB in any way possible but still to no joy.
I have looked at posts on here but not found anything that seems to help as yet or I have just not looked in correct place.
Please can someone help as this is frustrating. Thanks Stew.
If you entered fastboot already try "fastboot devices" instead of adb
Did you go into about phone and tap the "build number" 7 times to enable developer options? If so you should be able to access and enable USB debugging
Sent from my MHA-AL00 using XDA-Developers Legacy app

Can't unlock bootloader. No idea what to do at this point.

Hi,
I'm trying to unlock the bootloader of my new Mi Note 3 but it's not working. Hopefully you can help me out. Quick recap:
PC:
- I applied for permission and got it within ~10 hours (this was ~24 hours ago).
- On i.mi.com, the device is 'connected'.
- I ran MiUsbDriver from the unlock tool.
- The driver as listed in the device manager is 'Android something 7.1.0.0' (I don't remember exactly and I don't have my computer right now).
- 'fastboot devices' lists my phone as connected.
- 'fastboot oem unlock' returns an error: 'Verify Token failed'.
- In Mi Unlock Tool, after I click the gear icon and then 'check', I get 'Mi Drive installed'.
- When I try to unlock, I get an error at 50%: 'couldn't verify device' (the error code is -1 I think).
Phone:
- My ROM is 'MIUI Global 9.5 | Stable 9.5.3.0 (NCHMIFA)'.
- Mi Account is logged in, the ID is the same as on my computer.
- OEM unlocking and USB debugging are both on.
- In 'Mi Unlock status', tapping 'Add account and device' returns 'Added successfully' but doesn't do anything else.
Misc:
- 'fastboot oem device-info' returns 'Verity mode' and 'Charger screen enabled' as true, and 'Device unlocked' and 'Device critical unlocked' as false.
- I have tried on different USB ports (and only used the USB cable that came with the phone).
- I have tried on two different computers.
- I have tried everything multiple times, signing out of and back in accounts, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers.
- I have received multiple SMS verification codes for stuff I don't even remember.
... My bootloader is still locked. I don't know what to do at this point. Do I need a DEV ROM? But then how do I flash it with a locked bootloader? Is this a driver issue? Should I just wait?
This is all so frustrating! Not having control over my own device... Being forced to borrow a Windows machine to run Chinese software with terrible translation... A manufacturer imposing unknown wait times and obscure procedures... I haven't had an Android device in a long time, everything used to be much simpler. *sigh*
Anyway, I'm pretty salty at the moment but other than that both the phone and this community seem great. I hope you can help me overcome this. If you need any other information let me know.
You have to wait 72 hours(after account added on smartphone).
Unlock is possible only with mi unlock tool.

Thanks, I sure hope that's it.
It's weird that I have to wait even though I have received confirmation by SMS, I can download from the same link you provided, and the waiting time isn't mentioned anywhere...
Well, no harm in waiting, I'll report back!
Did you first connected device with Mi account in developer mode ? For that you will need VPN if you are outside of China.

I haven't any problems after 72 hours. Poland, Europe, without changing VPN .
I've just tried again. It still didn't work but this time it went up to 99% and told me to 'wait 6 hours before unlocking'. So... That's progress, I guess?
I'll wait the six hours and try again, if it still doesn't work I'll start over with a VPN.

72 hours, not less.
Does it work?
Seems only old device users cannot unlock
It finally worked!
After waiting the six hours, all went smoothly, the phone was unlocked in a matter of seconds.
So my advice to anyone who might read this in the future is to make sure everything is set up correctly (account, drivers, etc.) and then just be patient!
EDIT: I almost forgot, thank you guys for the help!

If you get an error, you should wait a few days.
