You will see activity for that device when more people that have the device start coming here and posting about it.

I've got one coming Tomorrow or Thursday to replace my LG G Stylo. Looking forward to seeing a root eventually. I don't foresee a large US interest, as it's not even listed on the US samsung website. Seems targeted toward the Indian Market.

plz make custom rom for j8 plzzzzz
why arent ppl making roms for j8???? :/ :crying::crying:

Because their are no developers that own that device, or they do own one of these devices but do not have the want/need to build a ROM. Or because the stock source code is not available for the device, or if the device has a locked bootloader, it can't be flashed with custom recovery and custom ROMs.

#1 there's no root
#2 There's no TWRP for it
#3 It's got a locked bootloader
#4 it's a relatively new, and uncommon phone. The developers don't have it, and don't have access to source code for it.

Don't use XDA just to get members to join your group.
Also, it's against the rules here to post links to sites that require a user to sign up for an account to view that site or download from that site.
If you can build ROMs and want people here to know about it, post and share your work here then direct members here to your site from the thread that you've posted your discussion or development in here.

sorry

i downloaded CF-autoroot from https://desktop.firmware.mobi/ to my J810M, odin says pass but still no rooting. I tried to install twrp via odin without sucess too. I tried to instal custom recovery with adb/fastboot but fastboot dont recgonize the device. ADB does but fastboot dont. I tried other samsung phones and fastboot has detected normally... only my J8 has not been detected.
I'll go back and use my "old" motorola g5s plus... cant live without root anymore. Too much merchandising and/or ads that i cannot get rid without root.

I'm assuming that you are not aware that fastboot does not work with Samsung device, they have no fastboot functionality, adb works with Samsung, but fastboot does not.
Samsung does not use fastboot to flash anything because Samsung does not have the same bootloader/fastboot mode that other devices have. Samsung uses Odin, JOdin, Hiemdall, Kies and SmartSwitch to flash the device from PC. Odin, JOdin, Hiemdall and adb(but adb can't flash anything without already being rooted) are used to flash from PC.

Factory reset via recovery ou via settings? I'll try this, and update u if I successfully root it or not. Another curious thing:
In first time I tried, I used Odin 13 and Everytime I got fail message. But with CF autoroot, that uses Odin 12.3 it pass but don't root.
Thank for the help. Soon as possible I will try factory reset

Use recovery to reset, if you have adoptable storage setup on your device, you need to reverse the adoptable storage process to avoid having issues with sdcard after reset. Also, make certain that you know your Google account password or you'll have issues with factory reset protection.
Also, are you certain that your bootloader is unlocked? Toggling the "OEM unlock" does not necessarily unlock the bootloader, typically, it only puts the device in a state that the bootloader "can" be unlocked if you know the correct unlock method for the device, the unlock process usually involves going to a website to get the correct software/info to unlock the bootloader.

It's not only allowed. Below appears a message telling my bootloader is already unlocked.
All the tutorials I saw on the internet talked about just enabling the enable OEM unlocking option on Samsung J810. I did not see anything saying I should go to a site etc just like I did to root my Motorola 5S plus Sanders.

[ROOT][apk]{TowelRoot}[4.4.2] Does not trip KNOX and does not touch bootloader

Hi.
Geohot released a rooting method for most android phones, and it uses an apk to obtain root (dead simple too, push one button, no need for other tools and workarounds). It does not touch KNOX or the BOOT-LOADER so your warranty should be fine.
You can get it from the official website, or from the XDA thread.
I ran it on my n9005 - Europe - unlocked phone.
I am on official 4.4.2 N9005OXXENB1
Kernel 3.4.0-636608 (12.02.2014)
Steps taken by me (21.06.2014):
1. Download the tr.apk
2. Turn off re-lock and app security.
3. Run the tr.apk, hit make it rain.
4. Install SU from Playstore, update it, reboot phone.
5. Check root
5.b. Success!
:good:
NOTES & ISSUES:
1. After rooting, I am unable to do a full device encryption. (if you unroot it works properly)
Workaround for issue nr. 1: Do a full unroot, reboot, make sure you have TowelRoot installed, but do not root just yet, encrypt the phone, do a reboot, launch TowelRoot, root, and you are good to go.
To decrypt your phone, you will need to unroot, then reboot, and proceed with the decryption process.
2. On ROM 4.4.2 official n9005xxuend3 with kernel 3.4.0-1168347[email protected] #1 MON APR 14 17:32:48 KST 2014, using TowelRoot, results in System Status: Custom
Possible fix for issue nr. 2:
Enter BOOT-LOADER (from power off, power on while pressing volume up + home) and do a Cache Wipe
Another possible fix has been posted in the thread, and you can read it here. Also here and hehe.
3. It seems TowelRoot, does not work on n9000. SOURCE IS HERE
Good job, even though I did it via Odin. It said it was rooted, and titanium kept saying that needed to be rooted. Root check app said it was rooted. I wanted to be pretty sure... Therefore Odin.

No, it does not show modified device. And updates should work just fine. It says it is ok in kies too.
I posted in attachments a picture of the downloader mode after root as well. Everything remained intact.

What root did you use with odin? Did it trip KNOX or did it mess with the boot-loader? And on what ROM wore you?

You should be able to root, however I can't say if you will be able to sim unlock your note. As far as I know, region lock and and sim lock are two distinct forms of locking.
What this means for you is, if your note is region locked, rooting and using the region lock away will work. However if your phone is sim locked, the region lock away can't help you unlock it. (root should still work).

As long as you do not modify your boot-loader and your kernel or rom for that matter, you should receive all the over the air updates, even in kies.
So if you are on official ROM and you simply use TowelRoot, you will receive the OTA udates.
To receive ota updates, samsung must belive your phone is untouched. Simply rooting via the TowelRoot, won't affect you.
You can enter downloader mode (hold volume down + home button at power on) and as long as it lists System status: Official and Current binary: official, you can use the ota updates.
I am with official Rom with a simple root with TowelRoot. Thank you!

For my device, after root, Full device encryption does not work.
I just tried it.
LE:
After doing a full unroot, device encryption started.
(I will factory reset, root and try again. If it will work, I will update the thread.)
LE2:
Ok, so I solved the issue, by unrooting my device, installing TowelRoot but not rooting, encrypting my phone, and after encryption is complete, I just used TowelRoot to root. Everything seems to work just fine.

Read the guide below for more detailed instructions.
Solutions to common problems are at the near bottom of this post.
TWRP Recovery and Xposed Framework at the bottom of this post.
Detailed how to guide, thanks to NotGrump903:
Code:
[QUOTE="NotGrump903, post: 0"]I wrote a little guide on how to root Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo SM-G903F with this new CF-Autoroot files.
Should work with SM-G903M too, you just need to download the file for the M variant.
Note that this will trip KNOX to 0x1! You, and only you, are responsible for what you do with your device.
When something goes wrong no one from XDA can held responsible. Do this at your own risk!
First make sure you have the latest Samsung USB drivers.
Then simply follow these steps:
1. Download the CF-Autoroot zip file for your phone from [URL="https://download.chainfire.eu/779/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-s5neolte-s5neoltexx-smg903f.zip"]here for G903F[/URL] or [URL="https://download.chainfire.eu/780/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-s5neolte-s5neolteub-smg903m.zip"]here for G903M[/URL]
2. Extract it to desired location.
3. Enable USB debugging and OEM-Unlock in developer options of S5 Neo.
If you don't know how to do this or what this is,
you should most probably stop right here and leave your phone as it is ;)
4. Open Odin.exe from extracted folder.
5. Power down your phone and boot into download mode by pressing and holding Vol. down + Home + Power.
Confirm by pressing Vol. Up.
6. Connect your phone to your PC and wait for Odin to state "added".
7. Click on AP button and select "CF-Auto-Root-s5neolte-s5neoltexx-smg903f.tar.md5"
8. Wait for Odin to finish binary check, then simply press start and wait.
The phone should restart a few times. When this is done you're rooted!

Little back story
How I noticed this
Used root tools and re disabled OEM unlock.
Tested to create a backup with flashfire and it failed and got me stuck on s5 neo with custom recovery binary FAP lock message
Ended up power down phone upon powering up same thing happened booting into stock recovery worked but didn't help not even if I wiped cache or factory reset.
Ended up in restoring whole system to make it work again.
So don't re lock the OEM unlock option it will end up bad if you try to do even if you don't have a custom recovery yet.
Thnx for writing the guide!

According to:
https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
you have to use another file for G903M. Should work however.
It is called try at your own risk proceed with caution. It isn't ment for your device and might render some stuff useless. Chainfire haven't made one specific for m variant but it might work.
Again you try it with your own risk. Chainfire doesn't being held responsibility for your actions.

I thought the question is, that there are 2 variants of G903M, one is with dual sim (DS) one is without. I guess.
And there is root for M variant too.
Just check the OP again. Or chainfire. It was there since F.
EDIT: or the M means DS and thats the difference between those neo variants? Im not sure here xD
EDIT2: Yeah, then I guess all g903M are dual sim. http://www.phonemore.com/compare/ph...mds-vs-samsung-galaxy-s5-neo-sm-g903f/2917321
Then nvm I guess.

Will ROOTING my SM-G903F allow me to remove Region Lock?
Hi everyone, and first of all thanks for providing this information!
I just got my S5 NEO, and unfortunately found out that it was Region Locked, so I am not able to use it with my local SIM.
My only interest in rooting the device at this time is to remove the region lock.
So naturally, my question is, will rooting actually allow me to do this?
Would really appreciate a clarification on this!
Thanks guys!

Well, I know there were some files for unlock, flashable by ODIN, way before root. Also lots of users reporting success. It was on gsm hosting forums, but now all I can find is this: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f94...laxy-s5-neo-fast-safe-unlockunit-com-1992423/
Maybe they removed it, to sell that service.
But anyway, you can try doing it over https://chimeratool.com/ they got a trial you can use, if you already didnt use it. They should also provide unlock.
But I have no idea if it will work or not, so do it on your own risk. Root shouldnt be needed.
Also dont forget to enable "OEM unlock" and USB Debugging.
But really at your own risk.

Why not http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470551 if it's region locked ?

Thanks for the replies guys, but I ended up purchasing an IMEI unlock code for $29 and that did the trick.
Got it from "Unlock Base"... great service and fast delivery in case anyone else is interested!
Good luck to everyone else with this problem!
I've found that "speedhack" apps like "Xmodgames" and "Oozhushou" don't work on my rooted SG5 Neo. Does anyone know how to fix this? I can't find any solution and I barely have any programming knowledge.
Does anyone know if this works on a Canadian SM-G903W (G903WVLU1AOJ9) with Android 5.1.1 ?
Thanks!

My knox cannot be installed because a custom os has previously been installed!! Help

So I just recently got my Samsung Galaxy S6 of eBay and its brand new. I installed Knox yesterday and when I press "Get Started" it says some custom os has been installed previously. I searched up for this and the only problem I can find is that your device status is probably Custom or your phone is rooted.
But I have none of them when I go see my Device status it says Official and I also made sure that my device isn't rooted. I have lollipop and I haven't received any updates on this phone for Marshmallow either.

Have you installed a custom recovery?
Use this to check Knox status: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bryancandi.knoxcheck Once Knox is tripped, it's tripped forever.
If it's not tripped, download the latest ROM for your device using the SamFirm tool, install using Odin, factory reset, and try again.

I downloaded and opened that app and it said Warranty Valid.
It says my firmware details and stuff.

Ohhk!
I downloaded the software/latest ROM, where should I put it on my phone?
Thank you very much DarryDoo you saved my life lol. My netflix, screen mirroring were not working before and now its working. Man thank you!
I also recently got my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 of brand new in sealed box. I installed Knox today as I need to run Mobileiron and when I press "Get Started" it says "My Knox cannot be installed because unauthorised software has been installed on your device!
I've done some googleing, checked my - knox warranty is 0x0
I had a look at the phone status in ODIN MODE and it says
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
PRODUCT NAME: SM-N920A
Strange thing is when looking at info in - About Device it says Model number = SM-N920F
Anyhow I need to get the KNOX installed so I can use my BYOD, what's my best approach to make this happen?
Many thanks

Root for Verizon Prepaid Galaxy j7?

Hi,
I was wondering if there is a root method for the Samsung Galaxy j7 Verizon's 2017 edition (SM-J727VPP). Is it even possible? I read that the bootloader for verizon phones are locked so you can't root them. Is this correct?
Thanks.
I'm on the same boat. I love the phone but not sure how to root it. Anyone know if the other root methods work for this phone?
I just bought this phone as well. Anyone dedicated into developing an unlock method for the bootloader and custom recovery would greatly be appreciated.

I haven't tried on this one yet (scared) but with Verizon's bootloader I know that its pretty much permanently locked.
... at the very least for now,
Meaning, it MAY be possible to get root BUT that would b where the road ended... no custom roms.... etc.
Root better than nothing.

Maybe you can try the app in this video for Windows looks like it has a big list of various Samsung models
I tried the link in the video but it takes you to a 4shared link that seems kind of spammy so I searched for the file on Google and found it eventually about to try it on the PC right now..
Tried it its a jtag app that need a box to flash firmware
We need to find a 7.1 n root exploits that work or find a way to dump the firmware I can't find any restore firmwares online yet

I have the stock firmware for j727VPP, the QB2 bootloader version to be exact, which is stock. It's Odin flushable , if u need it for any reason restore or w.e let me know n send me an email @ [email protected] . Also, Verizon just came out with a update for j727vpp which changed the bootloader to QF3. Do not update, otherwise going back to QB2 will be near impossible and if anyone does come out with a root then it will be for the QB2, not EF3 bootloader. But, if u already did update and need the EF3 firmware for restore purposes I have that as well, except it is in a ENC4 format, which is a RAW format for firmware. U will need to decrypt it with 7Zip to Tar or Md5 in order to be able to flash it. Like i said email me - [email protected] and I'll provide u with whatever files u need.

Is there a working root method available for this phone yet? There are a few websites that claim to be able to root it, but I don't want to take a chance and brick my phone. Thanks.

New easy way to root ALL Samsung devices 100%

Hello everyone
Here is new method to root all Samsung devices, twrp not needed.
First you need to download EFTSU tool: https://mega.nz/file/34lDEBqB#7mSv2SeYKP2kReheBk7q5AU582TZUdsJy6GL5sd7O-I
Then you need file from this website where you can find for your device and download it : https://eftsu.com/
After you downloaded this file put your samsung device in download mode *need oem unlock* then flash your file with eftsu tool.
Your device will reboot it and it will during boot ask to reset ,then reset it.
When it comes to system you need to download and install eftsu manager: https://mega.nz/file/Oo1yCSiQ#rWlMbcBiBHSzv5oMioyGxQZ0ynxqaeqz_Nfm4ze240c
And you are done.
You can also install root checker to see if it rooted.

Hello! I want to root my Samsung Galaxy A01 with firmware A015MUBS3ATL8, I found all the files that I should download, but no way to unlock the bootloader, I did all the guides and when it asks me for confirmation on the bootloader screen to unlock it, I affirm and the phone is formatted and it reboots, but when re-entering the bootloader it is still blocked
Sorry for my bad English, I'm using Google Translate
Please help.
My phone is SM-G955F with Exynos processor. Hungarian XEH code. The latest PIE is running on it. OEM does not allow unlocking. The slider can be turned on, but it also turns off immediately after enabling. What can I do to make OEM resolution work?
Thank you.

I got it from a friend today.
The phone is after a hard reset (some dumbass did it)
Unfortunately, there is no access to google accounts because the accounts were from her husband and he died.
I keep searching and trying but can't root. Because Debug Usb doesn't go on.
And the computer doesn't read the phone after all.
Yes, I have drivers installed, various Odins, I also took your EFTSU, Fastboot and I do not read my phone anywhere. Nothing else is just loading.

did you follow the guide i wrote above?
First you need file downloaded from the website and with the eftsu tool flash it in download mode, the when phone is reseted and comes in system install eftsu manager and root checker and in root checker you have to see if it's rooted or not.
