Hi,
I know this is an application issue but;
I have an Xperia Z5 Premium (I already posted this in Z5 Premium forum but no replies there). So I have a Xperia Z5 Premium with unlocked bootloader and with DRM patch installed, I do not have the DRM keys backed up either.
I launch Snapchat with all this, front camera works fine as it should, but I wanted to change my phone back to stock, I reinstalled stock firmware and locked the bootloader via flashtool. I launch Snapchat, and the front camera glitches very badly - It's showing green spots and tears all over the screen and lagging horribly, this is completely fine in the Sony Camera App.
Now IF I unlock my bootloader and install a DRM patch, this issue is fixed.
But I don't want to unlock my bootloader and root my device, I want it to be as stock as possible. Is there any fix to this issue?
Can someone else test this on their Z5 / Z5 Premium without the DRM keys and have bootloader locked.
Thanks
I have the same issue you are describing, but I did unlock my bootloader, I didn't install the drm fix though edit: This issue is not present when I use a custom rom so I guess it has to do something with the drm fix
I don't know how to fix this, I don't want to unlock my bootloader and/or install a custom rom but I really want Snapchat on my bootloader locked Xperia Z5 with stock rom and no DRM keys.
I'd be really grateful if someone helps me with this.. I already regret not backing my TA folder up a lot and this is the last thing I need.
I found out that this happens only when the bootloader is locked, not when unlocked.
Is there some way to fix this please?
hi, anybody test it on MM .305 firmware
maybe all Xperia z5 users must wait for new exploit + dirtyCow, or RowHammer to root access in locked bootloader device
im still watching progression in work to this

On MM there is something called DM-Verity meaning you need to disable this to root
Meaning you need a modified kernel and also a unlocked bootloader (to use a modified kernel)
Sent from my E6653 using XDA-Developers mobile app
After I updated to Nougat last night, I've been getting this message when I run the stock camera app.
Also, the Snapchat camera or the WhatsApp camera works fine.
Is anyone else facing the same issue ? & Does anyone know how to solve this ?
Thank You
Update 1:
So after so many times reflashing & trying everything possible that came to mind, I've come to a conclusion that relocking your bootloader makes your stock camera come up with this error.
You can relock your device, get the OTA update, but when you boot into the system, you well get this error message everytime you open the stock camera app.
Now, when I unlocked my bootloader & flashed the MM ftf, this problem was gone forever.
So unlocking your bootloader on Nougat via Flashtool, will ask you for a password to boot, which you will never know, maybe it is because the device is encrypted.
Update 2:
Unlocking your bootloader again on Nougat using official Sony guide fixed the issue for me.
The password to unlock your device is no longer present with this method
Make sure you don't use Flashtool to unlock your bootloader on Nougat.
If you have rooted , restore the original cam and clear cache and data , after that update your phone

I was on unlocked Bootloader + Root + Xposed on MM, I relocked my bootloader, reflashed MM & updated to Nougat through OTA.
So currently I'm not rooted & have my bootloader locked.

Yes reflash mm
Restore your original camera and clear cache and data

Or do factory reset from android 7

Yes, you need to unlock the bootloader again to get back the camera. Seems to be flashtool relocking bootloader on xz i think.

So unlocking the bootloader on Nougat using official Sony guide fixed all the problems for me, don't use flashtool to unlock on Nougat.
Thank you
I'm on auras MM rom. Have my bootloader unlocked, and I have the update notification. have this about two days, but I think that if I update, the phone could not boot.

Hello,
I have the same error msg "the camera may be in use by another application. Please close the other application and try again".
I got my XZ from French Orange Carrier and I unlocked the bootloader via Sony Official unlock
Then I installed Rom Xperia XZ Customized FR 39.0.A.3.30 via Flashtool and then relocked the bootloader by Flashtool but since then the camera keeps showing me this error message.
I tried software repair on Companion and reflashing Customized FR 39.0.A.3.30 but nothing help.
Issue still persist
Can someone help and tell me how to get back the camera working on MM with looked bootloader or should I unlock the bootloader again ?
Cheers!!

Just Unlock your bootloader again using the Sony official guide, you can't use the stock camera if you've unlocked your device & then relocked it.

Hi there, i got an issue trying to unlock again the BL on Nougat Romaur, at every time it gives me a FAILED feedback after the command, so the camera app doesn't work ( i'm on the modded stock camera app, so maybe a incompatibility with 7.0 ?)

Probably, try with stock app maybe.
Also use official Sony's guide to Unlock & not flashtool.

Hi guys,
I have bought C6603 prototype (locked bootloader, no root). Do you anyone know how to remove prototype mode? I would like to stay on locked bootloader
I have flashed by flashtool succesfully just D6603_Customized CE1_1288-7914_23.5.A.1.291_R2D or sometimes D6603_23.0.A.2.93_R11B_SE_1289, all other ROMs stuck just on xperia logo bootloop.
(Xperia companion repair shows just error and I have no other solution how to fix bootloop)
I also tried root system (by giefroot-3,3.1, kingoroot(.apk or .exe), Xperia Z3 Rooting Package .291 all wihout any success) to install recovery and mount rw system partition.
Can anybody give me an advice?
Isnt a c6603 a z1 not a z3?

nono Z3 D6603, thanks!
I also got an Xperia Z3 that was popping up a message that it was a prototype, but I can root it just like any Z3. I also managed to unlock its bootloader with the normal method, but it was saying "Rooting Status: Unknown". I installed a ROM that didn't require an unlocked BL tho' and it was all fine. I'm sort of afraid of installing a ROM that needs an unlocked BL just 'cause the phone ends up telling me that the Rooting Status is Unknown.
Edit: To clarify better, my phone was always saying that the BL could be unlocked. It's not like I tried to unlock it even though it was saying that it wasn't possible to do so.
Hello. I have a Softbank 601SO Xperia XZ (which I sim unlocked as recently I changed to Y Mobile) and am wondering what I am able to do with this device. I can't change the status from "Bootloader unlock allowed: No" and when trying to downgrade Android from 7.0 to 6.0 by flashing it, it seemed to be softbricked so I had to factory reset it using Xperia Companion (and it reset it back to 7.0). Does anyone have any experience rooting this phone with the bootloader locked or was anyone able to change the unlockable status to Yes?
Thanks!

I see, I thought that some people have rooted their phones successfully without unlocking the bootloader. I've also seen some people saying they successfully changed the unlockable bootloader status from no to yes by sim unlocking or downgrading their OS. Maybe these are rare cases...

Ya may be, after Marshmallow update you need to root by flashing zip Su/magisk and for that recovery is required.
Yeah, if it can't be brought back to a previous version it's probably not going to work...it's sort of annoying having a phone that belongs to you and is carrier locked even though you no longer have any connection with that carrier!
