Ive had my Smartwatch 2 for 3 months and it and my Samsung Galaxy S3 are running up to date software on Smart Connect and Smartwatch 2.
The problem I have is that because of the shape of my house (long and thin) when i'm at home my watch will often lose its bluetooth link with the phone and simply reconnect when I come back in to range. At least it does MOST of the time.
But randomly I get the message "Pairing with device will clear data from previously paired device". It then requires a reset on the watch and unpairing the watch and repairing on the phone.
There seems to be no logic to these "lock-ups". Sometimes I can go in and out of range once and it locks...sometimes I get no lock-ups all day. Sometimes i'm out of range for a few seconds, sometimes minutes. It seems as though something prevents the automatic repairing on some occassions and not others. And sometimes you have no idea the watch has failed to repair because that message sometimes also fails to appear.
Everything else about the watch I like...but this is driving me nuts.
Are there any rules to how the watch handles bluetooth. As nobody else on here seems to have mentioned this maybe its something i'm doing wrong.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I have the same phone and watch combo and mine connects back up again without any problems. Is your S3 rooted and if so, with which ROM? I am guessing your watch is on the latest firmware.
I am using a 4.1.2 ROM called BoneStock, but will flash one of the new 4.3 ROMs (now leaning towards MOAR TW 4.3).

I have a different phone, htc one sv on stock Rom and I have never experienced the issue you described. Always reconnects without an issue.

Thankyou very much for your replies.
I am now more confused as it does seem there is some sort of problem with my set-up between the watch and my Samsung S3.
The firmware on the watch is up to date as is the Smart Connect app and the Smartwatch 2 app.
My S3 is running stock 4.1.2 (and not rooted) and I have no desire to update it with all the problems that might bring.
It doesn't seem as though there are any further settings on the watch I could try adjusting. There doesn't seem to be any further Bluetooth settings on my S3 but I would love to be corrected if i'm wrong.
Any ideas?
I have an S4 and mine has locked up and refused to reconnect again. the first few times i had to reset the watch to get it going again but i figured out how to fix it without having to reset.
if they are refusing to reconnect i just goto my phone and unpair the watch, then do a scan for bluetooth devices and it should find the watch ... pair and everything should be fine. no resets or uninstalls needed.

Thankyou for the suggestion. This will make the re-pairing process a little simpler and I will try it.
But I am hoping to work out why the phone and watch sometimes lock up when they they should reconnect automatically.
I go out of range often and lose the connection, it then often won't reconnect. I've found the fastest way to get it to reconnect is to turn the Bluetooth off on the watch and then back on again. As long as the smart connect app is running on the phone it will then reconnect, most of the time. This is using an s3 and omnirom.

Does anyone else have a fitbit that can connect to their galaxy S6? The phone cannot find my girlfriend's fitbit charge HR and therefore won't connect to it. The app just sits there trying to connect for a minute to no avail.
Can anyone confirm? I posted to the fitbit forums and seems like my wife is the only person with a S6 and fitbit so no one can confirm/deny yet :/
I am having the same issue and just spent 25 min with fitbit and they can't figure it out either, it works just fine if I connect it to the laptop or to the old S5.
I've got a fitbit... But sadly no S6 Once I get it ill post back..
Update,
Uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the phone and it works now.
My Fitbit works just fine with my s6
hmmm
Was having issues but uninstall/reinstall seemed to work. This was after it stopped syncing After already paired. Still think something a little fishy is going on. Will continue to monitor
My wife had the same issue. It kept saying it couldn't connect. Stopped trying, came back into the app, and it was connected just fine. There's definitely something flaky going on with some of the bluetooth connections on this device.
Mine connected fine, but I have another issue.. I can't seem to enable send call and text notifications to my Fitbit :S anyone else encountered that?
Make sure that under Settings->Lock Screen and Security->Other Security Settings->Notification Access you've given your Fitbit app permission to access notifications.
When i try to give my fitbit notification access it is greyd out in the options. Now i cannot pair the fitbit and s6 at all. Any ideas?
Hi just got a fitbit charge today. Had trouble getting it paired with Galaxy S6. Apparently you don't pair it using the phone you use the fitbit mobile app. I logged out on the app, logged back in and it gave "set up" option. Clicked that and when I went to Galaxy bluetooth setting the fitbit charge was shown as paired
No luck
My fitbit charge stayed paired to my s6 for a day and a half. Now, nothing. They will not connect at ALL.
Same problem....with pc all perfect. with S6 cant connect....same problem and error sink.
Restart app, reinstalled app, all.....same problem :crying::crying::crying:
Still No Luck
I'm having the same issue. When I first got my galaxy s6 it was able to find my Flex tracker immediately. After a couple of weeks, it just stopped finding the tracker. I reset my Flex, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, turned my phone on and off, but still nothing. I just got the charge HR as a gift, and the app will not find my device at all. For those of you who finally got your app to work with the s6, how did you do it? I have tried everything and I'm so frustrated.
Samsung s6 and fitbit charge not syncing
I read through these suggestions and was still having problems. I then read how to restart my fitbit and it has been working wonderfully since. To restart just start to charge it as you normally would then hold down the button on the side for 10-15 sec until the fitbit logo displays then unplug. After that mine synced and worked well. Now that I know this I will be doing it on a regular basis just in case.
My S6 did the same thing!
I have an S6 and began having this issue today. My fitbit app said my charge hadn't synced since 10:53am yesterday, which I know is wrong because I sync every night before I go to bed. Anyway, today my bluetooth said unable to communicate with device. I unpaired it and then tried to pair it again, but my charge didn't show up in my available devices. I un/reinstalled the app, reset my charge, restarted my phone, turned bluetooth off/on, only to find that the only thing that worked was to delete the charge from the fitbit app and re add it there. It worked perfectly fine after that. Go into the app, click the button next to the dashboard, click devices, click your current device and then hit the trashcan in the top right corner. When that list is empty, click the plus sign in the top right and add a new device. You'll have to add it as if it's your very first time pairing the device.
My Fitbit Flex will sync with the app on my Samsung S6 ... but pairing itwith the bluetooth isn't working. Fitbit either can't be located or when it is, it won't communicate with the phone or the pairing is rejected by the Flex. I have followed every step Fitbit has for set-up but no luck with pairing. Any suggestions?
THANK YOU!!!!! That fixe it for my S6 Edge! The Fitbit notification Service was turned off.
I had the same problem, so I uninstalled the App, restarted my phone, reinstalled the App & did what "flu13" above suggested and:
"Make sure that under Settings->Lock Screen and Security->Other Security Settings->Notification Access you've given your Fitbit app permission to access notifications. " --Thanks for that info...
Then, my S6 connected to Fitbit right away.
I have been successfully using an S2 sport and then switched to a classic with no problems on either watch. I use a Nexus 6 running AICP, an LP ROM based on Cyanogenmod. Yesterday a totally new problem emerged: After the watch disconnects from Bluetooth and then reconnects it no longer will receive notifications of any kind from the phone. Note that I do not use WiFi connectivity, just Bluetooth. All other communication with the phone like weather or incoming phone notifications still work after a reconnection.
If I light reset the watch and then restore the data I will get all notifications again so everything is set correctly on the phone and the watch. I then tried the following steps to see if I could fix the problem:
Uninstalled/reinstalled all Gear apps from the phone with no change in behavior.
Factory reset the watch with no change in behavior.
Uninstalled/reinstalled all Gear apps from the phone and factory reset the watch with no change in behavior.
Turned the watch off/on with no change.
Went back to the last nightly build of my ROM that I know was working correctly with the same behavior.
I can't think of anything else to do to try and fix the problem, anybody have any other ideas?
I did discover that once the watch stops receiving notifications, I can just restore the data without doing the light reset to reestablish notifications. It will be really annoying once I get back to work because I routinely walk away from my phone and the watch becomes disconnected. Having to restore the phone data in order to receive notifications will be problematic.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Fred
Edited in 2015-12-21 - Solved Problem, Very Strange
So it turned out that the problem is that I switched the band to one of the nylon bands that loops under the watch (I like those because they are very light and indestructible). You would think the problem would be charging the watch with one of those bands that goes behind the watch but that was not a problem. However, something about the different stress pattern caused by the band on the watch case caused the watch to not accept notifications. Other communications worked fine and it would work if I reset the watch. When I did all the debugging described above I left the watch on my wrist.
However, just for a lark I took the band off today and everything worked as it should.
The original strap still work perfectly.
Go figure.
Fred
I may have a similar issue on my S2 with AT&T numbersync enabled (paired to a stock S5 active) where notifications stop appearing on the watch for apparently no reason. I have the sport watch with the stock band though. I've done a light reset twice so far. It might be related to the bluetooth reconnecting. I'll have to try it out a few times to see. Thanks for the info on doing restore data to get notifications working again. Much better than a light reset.
Hello all! I've recently tried to connect my Gear S3 to my Wi-Fi network (specifically to use the Samsung Gear Watch Designer) and I'm unable to access my "Connections" tab within the Gear settings. For some reason touching the "Connections" button within the settings will click but won't respond. I can scroll up and down after clicking it like nothing was registered on click. Sometimes (rarely), if I let it sit, it will load the first page within the "Connections" menu but moves at a crawl when trying to scroll through the different settings within it. Every once in awhile I can get it to pop into the desired menus but only after waiting upwards into 10 minutes for it to load... and that's if the watch doesn't go into standby or freeze altogether.
I've tried factory resetting the device several times to no avail. I'm hoping someone has experienced this and may have a workaround to this problem. From what I've researched it appears many have experienced issues with the latest Tizen version (3.0.0.1), including overheating and such. I've had problems as well but many seem to believe this is due to a software problem. I may look into sending it back but I'm not too interested in a refurbished device no matter how "like-new" it may be given I bought the device and opened the box myself.
If anyone has any advice, I'd definitely appreciate it! Thanks!
EDIT: I figured out that actually being connected to my at-home Wi-Fi network causes it to be unresponsive when trying to access the "Connections" menu. If I manage to get into the menu and turn Wi-Fi off - it allows me to access that menu. I've also noticed that leaving it disconnected from the Wi-Fi network causes it to overheat on the charger significantly less than it does while connected.
Just an update since no one else had any insight.
I ended up getting my S3 Frontier replaced under the warranty. My girlfriend has a Gear S3 Frontier on the same firmware version and isn't experiencing these issues. My S3 Frontier was replaced with the S3 Classic (a classier design I might add) and is running just fine. No Wi-Fi issues, no overheating. I figured I would give a heads up to anyone that might run into this.
i have a smilar problem from connections i am not able to turn the mobile network off. when i choose aways off it keeps loading and then turnes back to the preview settings any idea of what I am doing wrong ?
Hey everyone,
As the title says I have a problem with Google Assistant. It's stuttering when it is set to voice output. Basically it is unusable I had to turn off the voice. I have already rebooted both phone and watch, resetting the watch two times actually. Nothing helped. I think it is maybe a Bluetooth problem I don't know I have a xiaomi 11 lite 5g. I never had any issues with Bluetooth before like pairing earbuds or my previews smartwatch which was an amazfit GTS 2e. Bixby voice on the watch voice output is fine and also Bluetooth calls are also fine. The only thing that I did and helped but it's not a solution at all was to turn off Bluetooth on my watch and phone and turn on Wi-Fi on the watch then the assistant was fluent. I don't know what else to do.
I posted my problem to Reddit to Google support, here, and although there are other people that have the same problem no solution so far. Oh well
same on my galaxy watch 4 classic 46mm:
posted on reddit, no answer for me as well
talked to samsung customer service, they told me the usual stuff like factory resettiung it, and after i assured them i tested it, they told me to send it in. now im without my watch and have a feeling that nothing will come from it..

Sorry to hear that. I don't think it's the watch fault. I has to be something with the phone. I have a xiaomi m11 lite 5g. On Reddit someone else had the same problem with a nothing phone. What phone do you have?
right now its working fine for me, could be multiple reasons.
i assume its either stopping and starting the BT connection, or enabling contacts access for the watch in the phones BT menu.
Please just do all of the steps and we can try to narrow it down later:
On the watch:
make sure you have wifi enabled and are connected to a network
disable bluetooth in the watch settings
start google assistant and ask a question
(for me, i startet assistant like 3 times before it honored my wifi connection. before it just said im offline)
for me (and for several others who experienced the stutter) the answer is now not stuttering
go back to the settings and reactivate bluetooth
On the phone:
go to bluetooth settings
tap on your watch and make sure you have "Calls" and "Contact access" enabled. or any other permission you can give, for me its just those two
restart your phone and watch
Now, im connected via bluetooth (wifi on the watch still enabled), and it doesnt stutter.
idk what it is or if it will still work when i deactivate my wifi network or the wifi option on the watch, but for now, its the first time that it works for me
ill report back after some more testing (i will try to deactivate my wifi network at home, still keeping the watches wifi turned on. if it still works, i will disable the wifi on the watch)
In my original post as I said I have already done the wifi solution. The assistant response in fluent but as soon as I disable the wifi the stuttering returns. Also I have those two options on the phones Bluetooth enabled. I really want to thank you for trying. Maybe we can get to the bottom of this. if anything changes I will post.
Ok for me, deactivating the Network and deactivating WiFi in the watch itself did still Work, so my stutter is gone.. but im Sure i will Loop Back to Here when it comes Back, which it probably will

Do you have the lte version of the watch? Because you said deactivate the network. I tried the solution you gave me which is I turned on the Wi-Fi on the watch and turned off Bluetooth and assistant was working fine. But as soon as I activated Bluetooth again on my watch the stutter came back. Happy for you nevertheless
no i have the wifi only version. by deactivating the network, i meant i will shut down my wifi network at home. so the watch still has wifi enabled, but doesnt have any connection via wifi whatsoever

Aaaand its over. Stutter is Back.
I am on the Go at the Moment but tomorrow i will Invest some time and reproduce my steps, Testing every step of the way
That's a bummer. Sorry to hear it's back. Iam also trying different things but iam running out of ideas.
I dont think it's any particular thing but, here's what I did between when it worked last time and now:
Situation when it last worked:
Home, wifi, phone connected
Event protocol:
Phone turned off for faster charging
Watch taken off (locked itself)
Watch put on charger until 100%
Phone powered up again and removed from charger
Watch removed from charger, put on wrist, unlocked
Left house (no wifi for watch anymore)
Changed watch settings to access Google pay on double tap
Most if not all of this sounds unrelated but it may be interesting to reproduce or once someone figures it out
I also got it to work without stutter for a couple of questions answered when I switched off and then switched on the Bluetooth on my phone. But it didn't work every time I did that.
Can you try doing a network speed test on your phone when this happens? I've had this happen, but only when I was on a very slow WiFi connection or bad cellular network connection.

I did but the network speed is fine. In fact the only time the assistant is working properly is when the watch is connected to a wifi network and not Bluetooth
I have the same problem with the GW5 Bluettooh.
With Bluetooh on, the voice output always stutters.
With deactivated Bluetooth, only with WLAN it doesn't stutter.
Has anyone found a solution?
I use a Huawei P20pro as my cell phone
Thanks
