I did something rather dumb in qpst NV RAM editor without first making a proper backup, and now I am stuck without any service. If anyone reading this has a global bands edition (preferably the 6/128 gb version, but I think any with global bands will do), and is willing to help me out a bit here, could you follow the instructions it the link below for taking a modem settings backup and post the file?
REMEMBER: make sure you wipe BOTH of your IMEI numbers from the resulting file before posting them. You really don't want to share that info online because that's your phone's unique identity You probably can do this by searching for your IMEI converted into hexadecimal (using the converter in the link), and replacing it with something benign of the same length like 111111111111111 for the first one and 222222222222222 (hexadecimal equivalents of the same length) for the second one.
Instruction link: androidbrick.com/ultimate-guide-qualcomm-snapdragon-xiaomi-mi5-imei-and-baseband-repair-fix/
QPST Link (use this one instead of the one in the guide): androidbrick.com/download/download-latest-qualcomm-flasher-qfil-qpst-2-7-460/
Thanks!

Only need to use version 2.7.472 http://www.androidbrick.com/download/download-latest-2018-qualcomm-flasher-qfil-qpst-2-7-472 !!! Only it supports sdm845 (Snapdragon 845) !!!
Sorry to say, it won't work. Even if it's the original QCN from your device, it won't work. If you have a backup of YOUR modemst1 and modemst2 partitions, or a backup of your fsg partition, you can restore those and it will work. If you restore someone else's, it won't work.
This stuff used to work with older phones, but no longer does with Mix 2S.
Sorry for the bad news.

Hi, I also have a Mi MIX 2S and I am starting to wonder whether the change of model numbers (M1803D5XA -> M1803D5XE after flashing Global over Chinese ROM) will indeed Change the phone's connectivitiy capabilites (supported LTE bands, WWAN protocols and standards) for my 8 GB/256GB Mi MIX 2S M1803D5XA (now M1803D5XE). IIRC the 8 GB/256GB Mi MIX 2S "Privilege Edition" was marketed as the "global model" in China, so there is should be no unlocking of additional LTE bands etc. if I flash a Global ROM over a Chinese ROM ...
Thanks!

Are you sure it saves a QCN which works when flashed? Normal tools to do this like qpst don't work for this. Are you sure that it isn't just backup of the modemst1, modemst2, fsg partitions it takes?

I did something wrong too few days ago that cause my phone modem to kind of like restarting.. this cause the phone disconnecting every few seconds in qpst and restoring xqcn become difficult.. the trick is to restore it again and again when it failed until it is restored successfully.. you need to start restore as soon as you see the phone online because it will disconnected in few seconds so time is essence.. if your phone modem become offline after few time failed restore just restart your phone and do it again.. it may take few times before successfully restore complete xqcn.. after successfully restore dont disconnect yet.. please change the setting you change you made before its broken to the original setting and restart your phone..

"Globalizing" China ROMS
After the installation of MIUI 9, you have to flash the TWRP recovery - Search on google which to flash and how to flash for your device. (Unlocked bootloader needed).
Then root your phone flashing Magisk or SuperSU from TWRP and reboot your phone. After That, add this line at the end of build.prop:
Code:
ro.product.mod_device=scorpio_mam_global
ro.product.locale.language=it
ro.product.locale.region=IT
persist.sys.timezone=Europe/Rome
persist.sys.language=it
persist.sys.region=IT
ro.product.locale.language=it
Where you see "it" or "IT" it's for Italy, so change them for your country. Where you see "scorpio_mam_global" it's for Mi Note 2, so change for your device [Mi 5 (gemini), Mi5s Plus (natrium), etc.] . Now reboot your phone and all the chinese content from system apps like music, browser, etc. will completely disappear.
Installing Google Apps
Download this zip package, extract all the Google apps on your phone and install them by number order: 01-02-03-04-05-06 and give them all the permissions needed trough security app.
Now you can login to your google account without issues. ENJOY THE LIGHTENING FAST MIUI 9!

You can flash global roms in the same way You flash china roms. So yes, You can.
Wow thank you very much for your contribution, just a question, will it be possible to install it via flash with TWRP? Thanks again
What about Redmi 4 prime?
Thank you for sharing! ?
Just installed on my Mi Max yesterday. Pretty darned stable for a beta (no obvious bugs) and excellent battery life - considerable improvement over MIUI 8.
Can you find recovery version this firmware?
What is the country code for india?

Well, r4p was listed on third batch for global beta earlier, then discarded from the list(second last announcement) then added again. So, can't be too hopeful for it yet.

The MIUI9 Beta China is MM, so, if Xiaomi release the global, will be MM also.

This is why we cannot have a nice thing, another device with same spec only larger screen get updated to nougat. Another cheap one with less powerful spec get updated to nougat.
My next device will likely xiaomi previous flagship or devices from another OEM that have better kernel, source release so I can see active development. Maybe Moto or Oneplus.

It's true but that is not a reason to abandon several months old devices, every big OEM should have follow 2 major android release support.
Or atleast 1 major android release should be enough.
Think how would you dissapoint if you buy newest android 7.1.2 device only to learn after half year later that your device will not get update to 8.0.
Xiaomi isn't small OEM, they have resources to bring MIUI 9 to work with Mi2 (5 years old flagship). So why cannot they work on newer device?

People still look for r4p, so can't say it isn't sold pretty well. Xiaomi cut off r4p production, who knows why! And now they are ignoring it to give major android upgrade.
