About Firmware Version...
Good question...
1 main problem could be how to prevent FOTA (over the air) update back to latest CRH1...
You could try...
Code:
R760XXU2BQH1
... you allready found Thread... no idea if Link is valid or expired...
BQH1 is Tizen 2.3

Can a root device be upgraded?

Hi all
A week ago a rooted my Samsung Galaxy S6 device following this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/root-pingpongroot-s6-root-tool-t3103016
All was OK. At that point my device is using the Android Version: 5.0.2
The question I have is that now the version 5.1.1 (Lillipop) has been released, I would like to know if my rooted device can still be upgrading when the new version is released in my region (Mexico) by the phone provider. (Telcel). In case it cannot be updated automatically, I guess I will need to do it manually or unroot my device. In that scenario, Does someone know a good tutorial how to do that?
Regards!
@LesthadMK, sure you can update rooted devices. But it may not be possible via OTA update. You will have to download the full firmware and install it manually.
Because root makes changes to system partition, OTA fails when you have rooted. If you unroot and flash stock recovery and kernel back, then OTA may work. Otherwise, simply flash the full firmware, in .tar format using Odin software, and you're good.
It's good to have full firmware saved on PC anyway, as if in case you brick your device, you can fix it by installing your device's firmware manually.
If you need help with 5.1.1 firmware installation on your s6, let me know the build no. of your device.. I will guide you to page you need to look at.
Thanks for the help. I have download Odin in case I need to do it manually.
Also, mentioned that yesterday I read an article saying that using the Samsung software "Smart Switch" in an rooted device will upgrade the device to the newest version (which I don't know if it it's true or not) Any way this is the link I found:.... Well seems since I'm newby I cannot post some external links. So just google it as: How to Use Smart Switch to Update Your Galaxy S6—Even It's Rooted.
By other hand, this is the build number for my device: G920IDVU1AOE3, so if you can help me to know how to upgrade that version that would be very helpful
Regards!

OS-Updates after rooting S6

Hi at all,
I rooted my S6 successfully with CF-Auto-Root by chainfire. I am now not able to do an OTA-update within the OS, so I think I have to flash updates of stock roms by downloading it from sammobile.com and flash it via ODIN. When I follow the last advices given in some threads I have to go to http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?r=&v=&q=sm-g920f and look for the latest firmware released by samsung. But how do I know which one the correct one is? The version always begins with G920FXX followed by U3 or S3. Can anyone tell me the "syntax" of the meaning of the firmware version or the deifference between these two version-trees? Do I have to choose the german version if I bought a german phone, or does it not depend on that?
Again my question in a short way: How can I update OS/firmware after rooting the S6?
Thanx-a-lot for your hints and ideas!
Regards
Clemens

[N915FY] About downgrading…

Hello,
I would like to downgrade a Galaxy Note Edge (N915FY) to Android Kitkat but I haven't done it in a few years. I wanted to make sure I understood everything before I made any mistakes. I saw on differents topics on XDA that Samsung was preventing to downgrade on their devices since android 5.0.1.
In this case :
Is reinstalling the bootloader of an Kitkat firmware with Odin is enough to reinstall an stock android 4.4 firmware after ?
Did you know where I can find an Android 4.4 bootloader for N915FY (can I extract it from the stock firmware) ?
Did I need to do and tick "Re-Partition" on Odin ?
If I do a re-partition, what PIT file should I use (see on sammobile.com) ? (TBLTE_EUR_OPENBTU_HIDDEN100M.pit or TBLTE_EUR_OPENBTU.pit)
What is the difference between SM-N915FY and SM-N915F, I understand that one was for the European market and the other for the international market (bootloader?, partition?, LTE frequency?) ?
Do any of you have a Kitkat full stock firmware (BL, AP, CP, CSC) region XEF ? I can't find any on Internet, all the links are dead.
Thanks a lot for your help
Feel free to answer me even if you only have part of the answer !

Hello,
Thanks for your answer, I finally left the phone with the latest version of marshmallow available. What surprises me is that I only saw positive opinions on the kitkat version, since the phone works pretty well so I thought it wasn't worth the risk of downgrading.
Maybe the bugs you had come from a problem with the memory chip in your note 4, I have the impression that this often happens after a few years.
Edit: Oh! And did you have to dowgrade you bootloader before install kitkat ? I also tried to install kitkat on a defective note 4 motherboard and I had a lot of bug, but it was without repartion and with a one file firmware (I did'nt find any 4 files/repair firmware for the n915fy with android 4.4). Also an important part of link of firmware listed on samsung-update for kitkat are dead.

[G955F] Flashing a stock rom: Warranty void?

Hello,
Like many users on this forum, I updated my brand new S8+ to Pie/OneUI and I hate it.
However, i've been digging on the forum for quite a while and I can't find a clear answer.
Would flashing the official Oreo ROM via ODIN void my warranty?
And where can I find the official ROM for my particular version of the phone?
--EDIT-- I found it on updato, thanks to a thread i missed
Any help would be greatly appreciated

No it won't void your warranty/Trip Knox.
You can download firmware from either sammobil.com or updato.com these are the two i generally use. ( I see you've found it )
If you do downgrade remember to disable software updates so that you don't go back to pie again.

I read that there's a way to downgrade like it's an update and keep all data and apps installed (via the HOME file on ODIN), is it real?

Firstly before doing anything I recommend doing a backup first. I don't have a preferred method but you could use cloud based service (Google/Samsung) or something like samsung's smartswitch.
You will need to unzip the firmware that you downloaded. In it will be 5 files which will have to be place in the correct sections of Odin.
There will be 2 CSC files:
CSC - clean install will wipe apps and data ( same as a factory reset )
Home_CSC - dirty install will keep your apps and data.
If downgrading you will need the same or higher bootloader version. The BL number is the 5th number from the right of the firmware name you download.

Question regarding combination file's

Hello
I see
http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/DBT/SM-R760/version.test.xml this url it's from combination firmware right? for testing porpouses version
If i install this combination with ODIN: COMBINATION-FT30_R760XXU2CRB1.zip i get OTA updates from link above? (or i get any OTA update?)
edit: and samsung pay work with this fw?
thanks in advance
IMHO Combination Firmware is something else... as Stock Firmware... and Engineer Firmware you see on this FOTA Test Server...
IMHO Live Demo Units have access to Test Server...
Like SM-R760X and SM-R770X...
I have never seen/found Combination Firmware where FOTA updates work... it is simple not inside...
Best Regards

Hello @adfree I've been reading your post in kernel and several more posts about Tizen and S3 so it is an honor for me to answer me (thanks to some messages from you I could discover why my modified rootfs.img did not work and ended up in bootloop and desist from continuing hahahahaha)
Then according to what you say, I would have to do with the firmware of a device: SM-R760X which with a NetOdin that did not check the exact model could be flashed (since it is the same device in reality)
In the hypothetical case that I do this SPay firmware would still work?
Many thanks
EDIT: a rom with: ENG Boot it's correct?
(sorry but i missed a lot of time from Tizen and Samsung.... i'm user and dev of xiaomi devices)
Combination Firmware is Service/Factory stuff...
Samsung Pay is not preinstalled... also other usefull stuff for normal user like me is absent/missing in Combination Firmware...
Be carefully with SM-R760X/SM-R770X LDU stuff...
You can write Private Message to me...
Maybe we can find... how I can "help" you.
Best Regards
