Dear all, please help. I have succesfully installed the xiaomi.eu rom 8.8.3 but cannot encrypt phone. The process starts but after 2 hours it's still going on. Any ideas? Thank you.
Reformat the data on your phone in TWRP (make sure to select reformat and don't just wipe partitions) then flash xiaomi.eu again.
Thank you but this doesn't solve the issue. After formatting data I can flash the ROM but again cannot encrypt the device. Any ideas?
My understanding is that encryption does not work without some hacks on miui.eu roms.
See https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/howto-encryption-on-a-mi-6-with-xiaomi-eu-roms.43286/ for reference.

Hi there,
so I just wanted to install Pixel Expierence, because i wanted something new after Lineage. After flashing the right Version with wiping cache, data, system and dalvic, the phone is starting in twrp again. When I tried restoring my full backup, it reboots to TWRP again. I tried installing many different custom roms but nothings happens.
I did have Magisk and some Xposed stuff to have Snapchat etc. .
Can somebody help?
You need to perform a data format even after using Lineage as it encrypts the file system. (this will erase everything from your phone so you need to make a backup)

You can use a remove forced encryption patch, or easier, just use orangefox recovery and remove forced encryption automatically. Then ofc you are not encrypted, but don't need to format data everytime when changing Rom.
Hi everybody!
I'm trying to wipe the system partition on my redmi note 9 pro to install a costum rom ( Pixel Experience).
However I'm just not able to do that because there just isn't the option: when I try to wipe all data there isn't the system partition.
I tried both with Twrp and Orange Fox.
the error I encounter is unable to update logical partition "/system_ext".
Do you know how to fix this? Fortunately my device still works, I managed not to brick it somehow. But I would really like to install the Pixel Experience
Thank you for your time, hope you'll respond soon!

for what purpose do you want to wipe this partition?? there is no need to do that.
What should I wipe in TWRP?
If you are switching ROMs (changing from one ROM to a completely different one) then you should perform a factory reset. A factory reset wipes data and cache...

No, you flash a complete image of /system and it doesn't matter if there is any data stored on it. Everything gets overwritten.

Yes, that's right. Just wipe /data when flashing a new ROM.
Hi
I installed ArrowOS and when I try to go back to TWRP, there isnĀ“t any password even tho I have one on my device.
The thing is that when I enter it shows that there isn't any storage in the phone (0mb - imposible) so I can't wipe all data nor install other ROMS because it isn't reading the internal storage.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? It doesn't matter if I have to factory reset or delete all data, or install another ROM, but knowing that it is not a cable problem, I would like to know if I should use other TWRP version (and how to do it) because I can't even seem to do that.
The tutorial I installed the ROM was this, but instead of ArrowOS11, the 12 in my POCO X3 PRO:
Most likely using incorrect / old TWRP. Use https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomipocox3pro.html
Edit: Android 12 ROM's cannot be decrypted yet.
So should I just wait? Thanks for the fast reply!
No recovery can decrypt android 12 data yet.
You can still format the said data though and if twrp doesn't allow you to do so, try using orangefox instead.
You also can install or update rom and other stuffs (that doesn't access data) via sideload.
If you want to install magisk then you need to do the boot.img and related thingy.
Is there a recovery to decrypt android 12 data yet? I've been trying decrypting since 2 months ago and didn't find any answer.
Did you try Orangefox?

Wouldn't make a difference, it's a limitation faced by all custom recoveries and OrangeFox is based on TWRP.
@Toflamo You can try flashing a ROM from the SD Card or ADB sideload, but the SD card flash would less of a hassle. None of the recoveries as of now support decryption, might take a while to overcome that limitation.
Ngl I don't know how to ADB sideload and don't have any SDs rn to flashing it, so it seems I would have to wait until some recoveries can do it. From now on I'm staying with ArrowOS12 on my PocoX3Pro, even tho battery performance isn't as good as I expected.
Thanks so much everyone, you've been very helpful!
I will come back in some months to check if there is any tool to overcome the decryption problem of Android 12.
I flashed TWRP recovery on my Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018). I wiped internal storage, and it worked fine; the storage was decrypted. Later on, I flashed Magisk 21.4 (I can't flash newer versions, or else the phone bootloops) and rebooted into system. Everything went perfectly while setting up the phone. But when I proceeded to go into recovery mode again, the storage was encrypted (0 MB). Which meant I would need to wipe my phone again. I tried a lot of stuff already, such as:
flashing DFE; now It's deprecated, so that didn't do anything
rebooting to recovery after wiping the storage
changing my custom recovery (I chose OrangeFox Custom Recovery, but it also didn't work)
Too bad there are NO official custom roms designed specifically for this model. None. Not even recoveries. Only GSI images. So I'm using an unofficial TWRP version 3.2.3-1.
TL;DR: Storage is still encrypted after wiping it on the next reboot.
Is it somehow possible to permanently decrypt the storage or is my phone a lost cause?
I followed this guide and haven't encountered any problems so far. I highly recommend to follow all steps (Step 1 - 27) to avoid any issues. I think the solution you need is to Format Data and then flashing Magisk + DFE, this got rid of Enforced Encryption for me. Hope this helps, have a nice day.

I will try when I get home, thanks.
Dude, you deserve a coffee, beer, whatever you fancy! Thank you soooooo much!!! It appears I flashed wrong DFE. Anyways, it works now. Thanks a bunch!
Hi,
I currently have the problem, I installed the newest OrangeFox (happens with TWRP as well) recovery and a new ROM.
I then encrypted the ROM after installing and wanted to go back to Recovery.
But then I am asked for a password, which should be the same password as I set for the encryption.
But it is not accepted I get the error message that user 0 cannot be decrypted.
Could you help me why this happens?
Did you format/wipe system/data before installing new rom? Also what rom did you install, and did you encrypt the rom manually?
I did wipe everything and formatted data before installing CRDroid Android 11, newest CRDroid.
I did not encrypt manually, the phone encrypted itself
Well there is your problem, latest Orangefox supports only A12 and 13 decryption.
oh, I did not notice that
Thank you for mentioning.
