Well this device is pretty much dead now as it's past it's one year life expectancy. Also if you want a better device get a galaxy s8 or s9. You shouldn't expect much from a budget device.

[REQUEST] Advice

I am creating this thread to request advice on which phone I should get. Perhaps people with experience with the phones can give me an educated opinion. I have got a few options.
Samsung galaxy s3
Samsung galaxy nexus
Wait for the Huawei dQuad
Wait for the next Nexus
Save for a rainy day
If people could also give reasons I would appreciate it.
sorry if this is in the wrong place.
Samsung galaxy s3 seems like a device that would be strong for a long time with tons of support from the community.
I agree the samsung galaxy s3 will remain a powerful device. Get that one.
The only selling point of Nexus are the fact they get the OS updates first, but with this community, it's really not a problem for other devices to get it right away.
But as a phone to use, I don't think the Nexus is very good to be honest. Granted, it's quite smooth to run but there's not much else to it.
Your best buy would be the S3 because it's one of the best phones out at the moment and will be for ages. Looking at the S2 proves that. The S3 has also got a load of development already and inevitably much more to come in the future. Plus, if you're interested in JB, this phone is rumoured to get the update at the end of this month, I believe.

Thankyou what do people think about the huawei ascend d quad. Check it out if you don't know about it.
Personally, I choose Samsung galaxy s3. It's the best android phone we can imagine these day, isn't it?

Worthy S7 alternative in 2017

I really really like the S7 and would like to buy it since it seems to be the best 5" (kinda) phone around, even if it's 1 year old. I wanted to check with you if you think there are any valid alternatives that you consider worthy to be considered instead of the S7?
Price is somehow irrelevant since the S7 is probably the most espensive 5" there is, but in terms of specs and experiences.
S8 I guess.

Yes around 5.8" to be exact but the exterior dimensions will be similar to the s7.

That's interesting, at this point I wonder if I should wait for the S8 to come out or just buy the s7 now.. All these choices!
Just wait till its unveiled march 29th, if you still don't like it then the s7 will go on "sale" in your local classifieds the day the s8 is released.

best phone to purchase and root ?

Hey people I'm looking for a phone, that is super easy to root ?Also must have an high end music processor, also would prefer oled display. Sammy is my top choice, Motorola second, Sony third. see the thing is i use a Tab S LTE 8.4 as my daily driver and it is a bit big it does get in the way of things
I do own a Samsung galaxy S8+ but I don't wanna root that as its pretty awesome the way it is, stock does kind of rock. I'm after viper 4 android on the phone so what would you recommend and why ? Thanks
Well The J Series Must Be What you are looking For.I Use an old J7 and gt-i9060i as Guinea Pigs to Test Things You wouldn't Do.Bought the J7 for about 200$ on Olx from a Guy.It's a Nice Device Amoled Good With Battery And Got A Few Roms that Could Turn.
But If you are looking for A Great Time.Nexus 6P has got the Best Devolper For Mods,ROMs and Stuff.
I am Going to Barter J7 with My Cousin for a Nexus 6P.

Pixels are good to go for modding since they come with the pure AOSP from google and devs wont face problems developing for these device, i prefer you take a look at the spcs yourself to see if it fits you

Google(Nexus/Pixel) devices are usually the wisest choices for those that absolutely must have root and/or custom recovery/ROMs because they are easy to unlock/root and/or flash and usually get custom development sooner and more diverse than other devices.

Go for Google pixel and Nexus devices. They are easy to root and modding. You can easily get custom roms, recovery and kernel.
Would highly recommend Nexus 6P

Maybe it's just me but I like the N6 better than the N6P. Pixel is much better.

Pixel Don't have Nethunter Support(Yet). So It makes Him go Second. While 6P is at It's Greatest But I must say I miss 6.

Which phone you had before the S9+ ?

Was it worth it ?
The S8+. Of all the phones I've owned that was the first one I've ever broken the screen. So yes, the upgrade to the S9+ was worth it
Short of that though... I don't know. While the upgrades from the S8 were noticeable, if you have to pay full retail for it I don't think it would be worth it. The S8 is a great phone.
unnecessary thread and thus also discussion. for whom will this be useful?
I had the LG G5 and YES. It was absolutely worth the 900 bucks. The G5 is a pile of garbage and I had sworn off galaxy phones after the garbage that is TouchWiz but damn this S9+ really appealed to me. Bought it, love it, will never leave it.

If it's unnecessary for you why bother posting ? Just ignore it
Technically the phone I had right before my S9+ was a OnePlus 5, but that was just a temporary phone. I only had it for 2 weeks.
I actually upgraded from the S8+.
note 8 and i upgrade to s9+ for battery and speakers it worth
love this device
Note 8, the s9+ is worth the dual sound etc
Nexus 6
LG V20. Liked the camera better.

Yep that's because there was no phone that was impressive or worth the upgrade throughout the years. Nexus 6 IMO is still the best community developer friendly device today (aside from oneplus 5t) it's almost 4 years old and the xda nexus 6 forums are still strong today and filled with many ROMs compared to other phones. The front facing speakers (using Dolby & viper4android) still beats the quality of the S9+ (with Dolby enabled and configured to my liking). But of course I love the S9+ performance which is why I'm stuck to it like glue lol.
Note 5. Honestly not much difference.
HTC 10
Just ordered my upgrade today. Gonna miss my HTC, but it was time to move on since ViperRom was discontinued.

Xperia Z2
This was a long journey
s7 edge, s8 ,s9+ only upgraded to the s9+ as had a 20% off code on very.co.uk which the phone worked out to be £695, gave my old s8 the misses as she had the galaxy a5 2017,
everyone's happy all round.

Well, I upgraded from Galaxy S5.

Why is it so dead or is it just me?

Almost no movement in this section....a90 5g is an amazing device and i am extremely surprised that there is absolutely no development as yet. No root and no roms....
Can someone help me why is that? :good:
i think its due to lack of 5g deployment.
Looks like we are the only 2 XDA members with the device lol as you say it is a amazing unit and hopefully in time we will get root and roms.
Make that 3 XDA members lol, we just have be patient lots of good things will come in time.....

iam not much of a gamer , on mobile at least but the games i usually play run fairly well on the a70 with minimal heat , but of course the sd 855 will be a lot bettter but tour practically paying an extra 300 dollors at least for this cpu and no headphone jack is kind of a deal breaker to me , i know it will get extinct eventually but i want to enjoy having it in my phone as long as i can .

Look it up on the official magisk website, they got a special section for Samsung phones. It's supposed to be for the Galaxy Phones with One UI and Android 9.0 or higher. Good luck!
Im on Three network Uk and got this phone on offer Dec 2019 with ultd data, mins, texts and the unltd data also includes ultd 5G when it arrives.
5G is getting launched in 9 days where i live so hopefully i will be able to update you on what its like on 5G as i havent seen anyone mention any sort of performance regarding 5G.
Especially as they are selling this at £400 I am still surprised it's not that active..

It's because we are all so happy and love our A905G with Android10 !
Well have 5G now on Three UK. Getting download speeds of between 160-200mbps. Not as high as i was expecting but 60-100% faster than 4G.
I swapped my S10 5G for a A90 5G. Prefer the flat screen, better battery life, and the SD855 compared to the Exynos. The loss of the headphone jack isn't an issue, I have plenty of dongles (I use the one that came with my Pixel2XL).
I just joined the A90 club! Only got it due to getting a great deal but quite happy with it so far. Few differences from my S8+... will post some feedback after I have used the phone for a while
Need custom rom. Please contact the devs and get something started.
