J710FN Two ways to make a something nice. - Samsung Galaxy J7 Questions & Answers

Hi there.
I Have J710FN
It is Quite nice piece of hardware and its spare one.
I think to get the most from hardware and i think about 2 ways to tune it.
First is to give it to my son he is 9 and i think is old enough to have own phone.
To make that i need software wchich give me acces to any messages ,calls ,location ,surroundings(how He`s playing, did he get trouble etc)
The other way is to put it into my car .....
Full strong encryption
Full cpu/gpu controll .
Dark theme .
Maximum performance(I dont need play store etc . (Only Text BT GPS Call Thethering Magisk)
Any ideas?

Gigabyte gsmart i300 running WM6 eng

yup Windows Mobile 6 pro is running on the i300 the (free upgrade from gigabyte)

http://www.gigabytecm.com/turkey/WM6/download/GSmarti300_V2.02.04_ENG-Turkey.zip
so far so good
Working good the update?
No problems at al?
one thing i noticed of the bat was MS active sync program is slow.... i guess they have to fix it up, when its doing the sync its taking a lot longer, and if it doesnt work with outlook, i found the fix and this was for wm5 and wm6 is that in outlook if you download all your mail and then hit the sync button, in outlook it will then work with active sync, its a known issue i think with some older outlook ver :/
but ya right now with wm6 it lags a bit in the connection activation, i think as far as the speed its the same speed as before, its just annoying, i might try the active sync beta that is out
the os seems more responsive, i have yet to test the gps and wifi or IE
I can get working GPS
SiRFDemoPPC.zip dl that from the manu run it until u get signal if not, in settup switch to binary mode and do a col reset or reset manu settings then switch back to nmea, it can take a while, play around with it, i know that if i can get a lock with that program then i can get lock with others after i exit this one
oh the device on i300 is GSW3
Hi, just a few questions.....is the I300 as a phone any good?....is the call quality on both ends clear etc?.....and also the back speaker, is it loud?.....i am looking at getting this phone but i would like to know the above first if anyone can answer these questions for me......also does anyone know the correct gps settings to get tomtom 6 to work?.......thanks in advance!!!
Cheers
irv777
as far as quality i think its same as any other phone quality... no diff from my other phone, (moto v300) the speaker is a loud speaker ya you can play games or mp3s etc... and its loud enough IMO, but there is only so much volume and quality of something of that size, regardless of phone IMO unless a phone has stereo, but this and most phones is mono 1 speaker, the headset is stereo and BT can be stereo too
Thanks for the reply, what about tomtom 6?.....does it work with this phone and what are the ps settings to get a proper fix?.......thanks again in advance.
i havent tried tomtom6 but some ppl have i believe on this device, IMO should work just fine
http://www.gsmarena.com/gigabyte_g_smart_i300-1817.php
yeah i was just reading some reviews on it from the gsmarena website.....how are you finding the battery life though?......is battery life better with WM6 or WM5, any differences?....thanks
well i really want the 1300mah battery, but i havent been able to see one, maybe they will release one later, or some other third party will
wm6 i think might give better battery life but mostly on idle or low activity, if you run anything intensive then i dont think there is anything that will save your battery hehe the charging seems faster or it could be just me
and for the rest i think you have to get some nice tweaking util to really optimize any PPC, i for one havent bothered much... everything is installed on my miniSD card
i think since its a free upgrade its quite worth it, all the small changes to all the apps is big
i cant really say a whole lot for wm5 vs wm6 becaues i havent been using either one long enough, some other vets could have a diff opinion im sure
i think its sad that any PPC if you use anything like Wifi, GPS or if you had a TV it kills the battery life very quick... same for if you try to run something that takes up all the resources (cpu) it does about the same... i was playing the sega emu and it did drain battery life but not as bad as wifi, gps does, mp3 playback takes even less cpu, as far as movies i dont know but i think it would be a little more then mp3 depending what its encoded i think
but for movies i can use my cowon D2 PMP
btw my i300 came with 2x 900mah batteries i dont know about others but most ppl said so, those that they got from ebay
could anyone export the i300WM6 registry and post it here, please?
GPS icon in settings > connections
I have enabled GPS icon in settings > connections. Programs now can not use built in GPS. Could you please post the registry keys and values in the following location:
HKLM\Control Panel\Gps Settings\
Thanks.
How do I get the voicemail indicator to work on my Gigabyte i300? I am using ATT and it doesn't ever tell me about new voicemails nor waiting voicemails.

Sorry balikci, just saw your post today.
I did not upgrade my i300 (so, English WM5 firmware so far).
There is not such an entry (HKLM\Control panel\GPS Settings\) in my registry file!
GPS is not working with Wm6 firmware version?
GPS works perfectly fine in wm6, also the think outside ultra slim BT keyboard does work with this device you need 4.52 driver i think and disable the standard devices hid driver or so... its a check box when you run it for the first time, and then it works just right
I300 seems to have over exposure issue with the camera in wm5 and wm6, in very bright sunny area, after the first picture all pics are over exposed, if you close the app and start the first picture works perfectly but others that fallow do not... it must be a driver/software issue
could somebody help me with taking device into bootloader mode? i want to upgrade to WM6
in it's official website , it says you need to push Send End and power key , while the device is off.
first , what is send and end keys? green and red ones?
second , which one is power key? the suspend key or the soft reset hole key?
third , what does it mean by turning device off ? suspend it or turn it off completely , if so how?
and , is this ROM
http://www.gigabytecm.com/Eng/gbc_supportdetail.aspx?sid=26
WWE , i heard there are certain parts non english , which is okey , but if you know of any full WWE link , please let me know
cheers
king_dani, Send (green) is what you use to aswer a call, End (red) is what you press to end a call. Power key's the suspend key. Turning device off means turning it off compleatly, just hold the power key to turn the device off. The rom you gave the link to is WWE.

thnx alot man , so at least i know i'm pushing the right keys. well i tried these combination , in completely shut down device , still, it turns on and won't go into bootloader mode , for some yet unknown reason. plus , do you know if i should empty the whole card ? or can i use a partially loaded miniSD card? i mean , would it work if there are other files on it , and also , should they files be on root folder?
cheers
try another combination: turn the device on, hold Send and End keys, do a soft reset (don't release send and end buttons!), wait for Image Utility. All files from a downloaded archive should be placed in a root folder (/Storage card). It's Ok if there're files on a card.

wifi spits in bluetooths eye

Hi all wondering if anyone can shed some light on this one:
i recently bought a htc kaiser (yay) and its great! but i cant get wifi and bluetooth to work simultaneously in any way shape or form - every time i connect the wifi, the bluetooth connections will die - so far ive tested it with multiple devices and its a consistent problem
i even sent the unit back for a replacement but they tested it and said it was fine (i don't believe them cause i tried every which way to get it working) either way ive got the unit back now and i still cant get both to work at the same time - ARGH!!
if i cant get the bastard to work in the next week or so im going to return the unit as its inside the 28 day period - i just wanna be able to stream music from the net over wifi and listen to it using my a2dp headset
anyone have any guru zen insight on this one they feel like sharing?
cheers
fusi
must be a kaiser or rom thing cause i do it all the time at home with the hermes (go hermes go!!!)
have the wifi running fine with AD2P via motorola Ht820s
My Kaiser does both WiFi & BT with no issues. The only thing I can suggest is tinkering with your WiFi access point settings (change the channel, encryption, etc.) -- in particular, channel changes may do the trick, as both BT & 802.11b use the 2.4 GHz band.
thanks for the replies guys i swear im going loopy with this thing - what wifi channels can you confirm it works on for you?
well ive tried every permutation. it doesnt work - supergps are talking out of their arse when they claim they got it working. im really sick and tired of bull**** companies. dont buy from supergps - they might be cheap but you get what you pay for.
Why don't you try asking supergps what they did to get it working and how they have their wifi configured? Sounds to me like it's something in your setup that's causing it if they confirm the device works.
i did
they claim they connected up a lenovo laptop and a sony phone and it 'just worked'
i tried it with the exact same make model etc of kit (and a whole host of other devices (must be about 30+ different devices now)) and it consistently fails
i cant see how they got it working - unless they were testing a different unit or they didn't understand what the fault was - even though i explained the fault in precise detail in about 5 different ways to them over the duration of the day they were testing it
i reckon they just dont wanna deal with the hassle of getting a duff device back
p.s. this is with factory defaults - no customisations or anything (though ive also tried with every permutation of configuration i could conceive) - it just doesnt work

CM-11 testing for sm-t325 (mondrianlte), no radio support

I'm working on adding support for a WiFi only build of CM-11 for the SM-T325.
I am making no attempt at this time to add cellular support because I don't own the device and it would be very painful to try to do that without the device. However, a WiFi only version seems possible and I want to use this thread to validate that.
As a first step, I'm looking for people to test that this recovery works for them on a SM-T325: cwmr-20140528-mondrianlte.
You'll need to unzip the file and then flash it in Odin. If you don't know how to do that, then a test build is probably not for you!
Yes..it works!!!

i can confirm that this recovery does indeed function as expected...i installed my rom (ran into a weird "android is upgrading" bootloop but it eventually loaded...that may be my experimental multiwindow mod i'm using or the fact that i have completely deleted the touchwiz launcher) as well as created a backup (didnt restore) & all seems to be in order. I may be overreaching a bit about my abilities but im sure if u get a working wifi version going for us then the least i can do is get the cellular working...on a sort of related note would u happen to know if its possible to output through hdmi while in recovery mode? As far as this build is conncerned...anything else u may need tested just give me a shout
edit: looked for the backup which is usually on the internal sd (read:accessible from pc) and although the folder is there its empty...finally found it in "data-media-clockworkmod" & just wanted to know is this normal?

That is normal (it is independent of users and /sdcard is specific to user 0 of the tablet).
If you want to work on the radio, you'll need to be able to build sm-t320. If you get that to build, I'll push up my current repos for the sm-t325.
Would you mind booting into recovery and grabbing a dmesg (/proc/kmsg) for me?
Hopefully I can post a cm 11 build in a couple of hours and we can see how that works.

everything seems to be ok on my end although i cant test as thoroughly as i'd like to because my screen is screwed (broken lcd)...gps took a long time to track & still never redrew the map after it did but that was without high accuracy mode enabled & no data of course. Mic, camera, mhl/hdmi, sound, video playback, wifi, bluetooth (wait let me check...yep!), auto brightness, lid sensor are all working properly...so now i need your permission. Besides getting data working...i just want to know am i free to use this in a dual boot configuration with my rom & post it in my thread? Also...this is not important but do u know if screen mirroring works with the wifi version?

I don't know whether or not screen mirroring works. No one has complained but I don't have any way to test it.
You can (obviously) post a link to the thread. I would prefer that you didn't link to a specific version as I hope to post more test builds here (although so far only 3 people have downloaded it which shows either a lack of interest or a lack of early adopters).

woohoo...well i got data working but calls are a no go as of right now. i can assure u the lack of activity in this thread is definitely not due to lack of intereset....more than likely its because its barely been a full day not to mention that there are not that many of us lte users but best believe once word gets round they'll come running. As far as my permission request...what i was thinking is that i'll just wait until the monthly releases start coming, make the proper changes for data (unless u actually make ours official also which would be awesome) & include it in a dualboot (hopefully multirom) setup. From what i've read ...alterations will need to be made to both kernels/roms which is why i was asking could i use it. I would definitely put a "use at your risk" disclaimer up as to not have the official thread flooded with issues not actually related to cm itself...let me know if u need anthing else on my end
edit: i do have one weird issue though...i copied the dialer app from another device with cm11 but it doesnt show up in the app drawer but is in fact found within the app manager in settings (i know i can just download another dialer but thought i would ask)
edit 2: calls not working yet & but i did get the phone app to appear & sms are also good to go (no mms at the moment)...got rid of the error message on outgoing calls (incoming wont even ring at all) but now it just force closes before it dials out (even with a different dialer)

Here's a new build that has all of the telephony bits enabled. I haven't tried booting it (I'm at work, the tablet is at home) but it should have the dialer and all the other framework that is needed for telephony. Let me know if you get calls working with it:
cm-11-20140529-beta

twrp is fine. The recovery was just because the first step is to make sure that boots before bothering to get the whole system to boot..
I will install your latest build and return with impressions.
Edit: @crpalmer: Phone.apk/dialer is missing and I have no service.

Long story short...still no voice. Now for the rest of it...i've gotten it to the point where i can dial out but neither the mic nor speaker works when the call is answered by the other party (i think this is due to the fact that it reports that the call ends as soon as it begins on my device). As far as receiving calls is concerned...NOTHING. I have even gone as far as flashing a note 3 modem (yeah i know...stupid :silly in an attempt to fix it & still no go...i just recently found the build prop edit to allow outgoing calls so hopefully the rest is as simple as editing the build prop. Speaking of which...getting data/phone working is NOT quite so simple but i've gotten it down to the bare minimum number of changes that need to be made. So far we need to add the "lib-qcril-hook-oem.so" from the n9005 cm11 rom & the "libsec-ril.so" as well "libril.so" from the stock T325 rom (which is enough by itself to get data working) as well as decompile the framework-res.apk & and change both the sms & voice config bools enable to true (which i'm sure there is a flag for in source)...this makes the phone app appear as well as allows u to send texts then we need to add the line "ro.telephony.ril.v3=newDialCode" to the prop which allows us to dial out. Well...thats where i'm at as of right now so its back to google for me to put together the rest of the pieces unless u have some insight from working on devices with radios that can be of some assistance

Keep an eye on this post...i just jumped off the deep in end & tried to install the hlte version as is (with kernel swap of course ) so it may take me a minute to get back (i have a nandroid but like to make the cjanges manually so i know the exact process & origin of files). Well i'll be damned...incoming calls work (complete with mic & speaker) with note 3 version of cm11! Outoing still seem to be an issue but this clears up a few gray areas i had concerning whether the ril files matched the modem & so on...i had the bright idea of swapping a few of the framework files then just thought they were so similar that the whole thing should boot. Anyway....shouldnt be long to figure out what the hold up is now bu tgive me a few & i'll post the log after i test a ouple of things then flash back to the other setup
edit: Aaaaaaannnnddd....done! added the line i spoke about in my previous post to the build.prop & now both incoming & outgoing calls are working with the N9005 version...just out of curiosity i'm about to go through & see whats broken the first of which i notice is rotation (i personally hate portrait) but seems like everything else is as well including wifi, camera, lid, bluetooth, & ironically speaker audio (video playback & apollo play no audio through loudspeaker...both work through wired headset). I will still get that logcat a lil later...at this point i dont think it has anything else to do with the build prop because i had already added most of the stuff i found missing in ours from the hlte & it didnt work. I'm thinking maybe another lib file that needs to be swapped...perhaps maybe something in framework

The outgoing call issue is likely just that the audio configuration is missing the use cases for voice calls. That's why I wanted the logcat because that should be easy to add.
When you're done with the hlte version (which is actually not a great idea for a daily driver as there are other things that are different that you may not notice (two biggest I can think of is that the hardware is different and several of the HAL libraries need to enable/disable different files in /sys/ and the networking configuration is different which may break some kernel/user-space interactions).
But if you can send me the logcat, the build.prop that you are happiest with and detailed information about anything else that you chnaged (e.g. exactly what you changed in frameworks so I'm not guessing) then I'll take a look at another test build.

Notification problems anyone ?

I must say i love the phone as in battery life and the camera also gives some nice pictures.
But what started it to not love the phone anymore is the notification problem.
I installed Whatsapp and as soon as the lockscreen was active or a few minutes later it stopped to receive notifications.
This also was for Telegram and my home automation app.
I have searched for topics and found quite allot of these similar notification problems with tips.
What i have done is set by every application that needed to be running in the background :
Enable autostart
Turn of battery saving mode - no limitation
Lock the app in the screen where you can empty / close the running apps.
Also found a topic and application that should "fix" some notification problems for MIUI.
https://github.com/FabioCZ
Not sure if this completly works but i am starting to get most notifications on whatsapp/telegram etc.
What does not work at all is my video doorbell,
the application is Hik-Connect.
Got my older samsung phone laying next to the note 10 and press the ring button.
Only samsung rings, the note 10 doesn't work at all.
ofcourse i have installed them both from the playstore, used the same settings on the xiaomi to keep it running.
Nothing
Is there anyone that has an idea, because the whole handy thingy is gone now.
maybe a custrom rom will solve it,but since i have no idea how to make it thats a no go
I did unlocked the phone , installed orange fox and magisk to use titanium backup.
Can say that this didn't work flawless also, getting magisk giving the toast message to give certain apps root acces etc etc.
whats even worse, can't return the phones ( got 2, 1 for me and for m girlfriend)
Well hope someone has an idea.
Thanks
edit: i am using nightskeeper to automatically turn of the sound at a certain time and turn it on.
Give some contacts rights to still call trough the audio block.
But also this application does not work anymore, i get this notice every time but its already active.
When i enter ok, and turn the permissions on it works again for a few hours or so and then its gone.
its getting a bit frustrating , hopefully my alarm clock will still stay working

try to put a system sound, the same thing happens when I put an mp3 or music sound
thanks guys,
the sound trick was indeed a good one because it could not find the audio file that was set from my samsung phone ( used titanium backup to install WA again)
It does seem that 9 of 10 times i do get the notices.
Also got my Hik-Connect app finally running and ringing when i press the doorbell.
Now comes the strangest part, the settings that i have put in my phone are identical to the phone of my girlfriend.
And my phone works with most of the services that i want but the phone from my girl doesn't.
Also bumped into another thing, wifi tethering .
I have a android radio in my car, what i got set with Tasker for years is :
1 - jump in the car
2- bluetooth makes a connection to the radio/phone .
3- tasker notices this, starts wifi tethering / hotspot
4- radio will connect on the hotspot of the phone and live traffic naviation / streaming radio works.
That was how it was supposed to work, now i get a notice from tasker that its not working, need a extra application and root.
I have root / installed the wifi tasker tether application. Also found the module that should do the same and installed this in magisk.
But still a no go
i do like fiddeling around with my phones, but it has to work eventually haha.
Would come in handy if i know how to write code and make my own fix for this.
Ah well anyway, im going to make a full backup from my phone and try to set this 1:1 on my girls phone.
Hopefully the notifications and the doorbell will work then.
Thanks guys
Im using notifybuddy for notifications and it's a life changer.
Hello Vincenttot, I have bought a PocoX3 PRO mobile and the same thing happens to you.
What does not work at all is my video doorbell, the application is Hik-Connect. But on other phones it works fine.
Have you found any solution?
Thanks guys

Alcatel Go Flip V keyboard support

(For explanation as to why I want the following, see below section)
I have an Alcatel Go Flip V under Verizon that I would like to get keyboard support on for bluetooth keyboards. It runs an AOSP fork and has no keyboard support. Bluetooth keyboards gave some connection error, vague enough to make me question if the decade-plus old keyboard's ancient standard caused issues, but even a wired keyboard refused to function. Some poking made me believe the device needs custom firmware to get even bluetooth keyboards to function, due to no support. I'm very much a noob, but here's what I know:
APKs cannot be run, though are recognized as such. NOT an 'unusable file' error
ABD shell and push/pull are firmware disabled
Some debug menus exist, but don't allow full ADB access or the like
Alcatel tends to lock down their phones pretty good
Is there any way to get keyboard support with or without hacking the device? I'll do testing on a spare that has some issues that warranted replacement, but still works fine for these purposes.
[Explanation]
I got the flip phone for the reason of getting a phone without artificial limits in place that is barely capable of browsing the web and cannot install games (for I get distracted easily) but can provide a hotspot for those times when my laptop is appropriate to use. I don't like artificial limits, as I am greatly tempted to remove them, so a smartphone is not a preferred solution (If it is the best solution I can just swap my SIM to my mom's old DROID MAXX 2). The flip phone is great most of the time, but the occasional time when I need to make longer messages made me wonder if I could find a 4g slide phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. The only ones I could find were Blackberries which still have that temptation issue mentioned above, and some HTC MyTouch device that's old and carrier-locked. This sent me down a rabbit hole trying to find if my current phone could support external keyboards, bluetooth or otherwise, which it did not, but made me wonder if I could get a modified OS that supported keyboards. I am willing to do anything short of hardware modification to the spare phone, as some hardware fault caused the screen to invert the colors and be mirrored on the vertical axis, making it nigh-unusable as a normal phone but perfect for testing.
